Updates of The Federal Kingdom of Belsay
Appeltree replied to Appeltree's topic in SC4 City Journals
Currently working on the southern part of the city center. Southern of the river the landscape goes up into hills, to finally turn into mountains. The southern part contains the royal palace, the main Heydan residence of Her Majesty the Queen. Beside that it contains the residence of the Prime Minister and the federal parliament, sitting at the beginning of a hill, to symbolize that the parliament at the end is the highest autority within the state. The Royal Palace with the Royal Chapel close to it. Also notice the two palace buildings close to the palace (the Odeon building from SC4 and the square building). At the end of the closed palace gardens is another palace building, holding the apartment of another royal family member. On the top side of the garden you see a very old cemetery, with some second class members and two previous kings of the royal family being burried there. The royal gardens are mainly closed and in use by the Queen, but above it is a big open park (which is not finished yet, only made the outline). The horizontally striped building close to the chapel is the Ministry of Defense, as the building above it contains certain adminstration departments. An overview with the parliament layign higher. Bigger overview -

Thank you all for the kind replies Currently working on a renovated area in the old city center. The central road has been lowered years ago to give the area a more nature friendly look and is the main entrance to the city from the West. The central road is the most logic way to follow into the northern part of the city from the highway coming from the west and the financial district. -

In the western part of the city, still in center and in a busy area, there is a heaven of silent and green. The area lays lower than the rest of town and is accessible through a checkpoint off one of the main roads. The area is closeby Financial District The Farao and doesn't consist of any special building. What this area is and what happens in there? It's one of the quarters of the secret service. It's an area where almost noone is allowed to entered and that is heavily guarded. A normal tourist in town wouldn't even the notice the speciality of this area. What happens there exactly is unknown, but that the area is important for the nations security is a public secret. Some say the area is the national security center in case of an emergency and that almost all commands can be given from underneath the buildings. The area existed already before the Second World War, but has been upgraded since then. Currently working on it. -

Ladies and Gentlemen, As progress is underway on the center part of the City of Haydan, I am currently also working on the skyline district of the city. I present to you the beginning of Financial District The Faro (Le Quartier Financier De Faro). The area is developed from the beginning of the '90s and consists of modern high rise buildings outside of the city center. The area is well connected to other parts of the city and has a connection to the main airport, the central station in center and the (smaller) financial district in the east with the High Connectivity Rail Network. The Faro is built on the river edge around one central walk-only road. Cars are directed outside the main area of the district. The area is surrounded by mostly sub urban residential areas on the north and west, and center areas on the east and south. Welcome. An overview of the city so far. As construction is full on its way on this millions city. -

Hi guys, I would like to let you know that work is continuing. This millions city, one of the biggest cities in Europe, is slowly getting bigger. So that's why I decided to upload this picture. Please don't mind the big park; it's just filled with trees until the real park is made. One big tile is almost finished. You are looking at the heart of the city. -

Work continues in Belsay. Here some picture from what I'm what I'm working on. Just some screenshots from the game. The city area. The built part in the middle is the center of the center, on the north-east side you see a financial district and beginning of a sub urb. The city center will become way bigger. The island on the total left will become a park with certain roads going over it. The Flame of the Nation Monument on the point where the river splits. Better overlooking of this part. Overview Overview of the city's heart. The main island with the Dome Of Our Fathers with the States Garden. The dome includes the entombments of the former head of states. Islands. The main center road passing under the train station. On the top-left you see one of the train stations. Also notice the ax and the white building with it's own square, which is the National Institute of Art (Museum). The National Institute of Art (Museum). Overview -
Dear people, Currently I am working on a city that is based on the architecture of France. Now, most of these buildings won't appear in a nice way when you zone them and if they appear in that way, it's only commercial. Therefor I need to plop most of the city center, which won't give me any population. Does anybody have a solution for this to raise the population with many ploppable buildings in your city center? Is there a mod or anything for this? Thanks a lot!

Thanks for all the comment! I got a quick new update. Please don't mind some bugs, like trees in a building. I upload pictures as I am building, more professional updates follow later when the neighborhood is finished. Church of Eternity with it's square. Part of the riverside with the mainroad following the riverside having two entrances. Also notice the tower at the big avenue, hosting a hotel. One of the trainstations with railbridges going to the other side of the river. The area around the trainstation. A more filled area around the ax that goes through part of the city. At the end of the avenue, right in a line with the small arche, the big arche and the cathedral you find one of the big landmarks in the city; the Obelisk of the Commander. An overview of what's built now. In the south you see the trainstation. Under the large building of the trainstation the railroads enter a tunnel under part of the city. After the obelisk the avenue continues for a while, then makes a curve and divides itself in several roads. Feedback is more than welcome! -

Cathedral of Saint Laurent Cathédrale de Saint-Laurent Close to the riverside in the east the city of Haydan starts one of the axes in the city, going from the Cathedral of Saint Laurent in one way to the Obelisk of the Commander (Oberlisque du Commandant) to the Royal Palace. In this picture you see the Cathedral of Saint Laurent , a small ark and the beginning of the green lane towards the obelisk and later on the palace. The area around the Cathedral of Saint Laurent is one of the most expensive, full of small shopping streets and luxerious apartments. By public transport the church is best reachable by metrostation Maternelle, able to enter and leave on the little square of the ark. -

A snapshot from the center of City Haydan. Work in progress... -
Dear people, The most annoying thing about Sim City 4 for me is the impossibility to build buildings under elevated rails and highways. The interaction between building and traffic, waving underground and above building, is what in my opinion gives a city a real citylook. Unfortunately I haven't found any possiblity to really build highways and railroads over buildings. Therefore I am wondering fi there is any solution to this problem. Is there a way to make highways and zones communicate? Thanks already!

Introduction - A federal kingdom in western-Europe
Appeltree commented on Appeltree's City Journal Entry in The Federal Kingdom of Belsay
Thanks you two! I will only post full updates here when a big part is finished. For updates while working you can have a look HERE. Just placed the first update there. -
I made City Journal about this project. You find the Journal with the updates HERE. Here on the forum I will only posts updates, so pictures made while playing and not having any finishing touch. UPDATE 1 FROM THE JOURNAL: UPDATE 1 Currently working on an area in the eastern side, about 30 minutes drive from the middle of center. It's the place where there's a second financial center and where the hills start to come up. Metro doesn't reach this area anymore, therefor you can use the Regional Rail Network, something equivalent to the RER in Paris. Still busy working on it, but here some pictures as it looks right now.

Introduction - A federal kingdom in western-Europe
Appeltree posted a City Journal entry in The Federal Kingdom of Belsay
Welcome to the Federal Kingdom of Belsay; an existing state southern of Ireland, south-western of the United kingdom and eastern of France. A state sharing the Bay of Biscay with France and Spain and a state bordering one of the most important sea routes on Earth. The Federal Kingdom of Belsay or, as the French speaking minority calls it, Le Royame Fédérale de Belsaux is one of Europes biggest islands. The federation exists out of two federal states, namely the Federal State of Wistelton (Etat Fédéral de Wistelton) in the north with an English speaking population, and the Federal State of Courteville (Etat Fédéral de Courteville) in the south witn a French speaking popluation. HISTORY A brief history: until the First World War the Island of Belsay was occupied by the United Kingdom and a small part (about 10% in the north) was occupied by Ireland. After the First World War France was capable of occupying the eastern part where already most of the population was orientated towards France. Belsay has been a kingdom since 1500 AC, but has been occupied since 1800 AC. The monarch at that time lived in hostile in Sweden and later Canada. At the beginning of the Second World War the Island of Belsay faces an uprising against the occupation by France, Ireland and the United Kingdom. After a smooth revolution the Island receives independance, with the former British and Irish parts forming the Kingdom of Belsay and the southern part forming the State of Courdeville. The monarch returns at this times and becomes monarch of the English part. In 1950 both parts of the Kingdom reunite in a federation with the former and historical monarch as the head of state. STATISTICS In the entire Kingdom there are approximately 50.000.000 civilians. To give you some references, United Kingdom has 63.000.000, France has 65.000.000, Germany has 82.000.000, Italy has 60.000.000 and Spain has 47.000.000. With this population Belsay is currently the sixth European state by population (including Russia). Courteville, the southern state bordering France, has about 15.000.000 civilians. Wistelton, the northern part bordering Ireland and the United Kingdom, has about 35.000.000 civilians. When we look at the size, Courteville occupies about 20% of the island, where Wistelton occupies about 80%. The capital Haydan is almost entirely English and is situated for 85% in Wistelton. Especially the south-eastern part of the capital is part of Courteville and therefor this part has a French orientation. In The Greater Metropolitan Area of Haydan, approximately 12.000.000 people live. This means that about 24% of the population lives in the capital of this state. POLITICS Belsay is a centralized state on almost all political issues, with Queen Dolora of Himmerton as the current head of state. The prime-minister has always been from the English population, because this part of the population is way bigger. The current prime-minister is Silvester Cornwell. CLIMATE Belsay has a climate that is comparable with the climates of London and Paris, although the general temperature in Belsay is warmer, due to its more southern location. Belsay has a sea-climate. -
