@rsc204 Seems that my way of organizing Plugins wasn't as brilliant as I first thought In addition to shortening folder names, I'll also see if I can merge some subfolders, and maybe also gut some of those many folders created by installers, it's not like someone's going to update content made ten years ago to need acces to the default installation path. I haven't datpacked anything because I like to do quality control on almost everything I install, but there are some exceptions like matt's content, where I can safely say everything is modded to the highest standards, It'll have to make a sizeable difference if I datpack all of his creations. I have added so many things to my Plugins recently, that a backup is already overdue, so this seems as good a time as any to restructure the whole thing.

Thanks! I'll try to shorten all the directories in my Plugins folder then. Love your work BTW!

@matias93 I thought I would have to do just that, but thanks to my terrible city planning, traffic on that interchange it's really low (more so since I deleted the city to the east), I could probably get away with an at-grade crossing actually, but where's the fun in that? I also downgraded the N-S highway to a simple boulevard, and whenever I get the time to install NAM 36 I'll see about converting some sections into REW.

Virtues and warts of Andreas' SC4 tools
Edvarz replied to tariely's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I also use SC4Tools along with PIM-X and Reader. It's a pretty neat tool, useful when you want to make simple tweaks in values like, say, flammability, tileset, etc. I often use it when I need to do these simple changes to batches of files, it's interface is way friendlier that the one in the Reader. A couple of things on TE lots, if it's not essential to have actual in-game traffic passing trough the lot, as would be the case with a transit station, it's better to just 'Network enable' them instead. You can look at this thread for a tutorial on TEing, scroll down that same thread to see how to Network enable that same lot, it's really just one extra step; with the latter option you will still be able to drive trough your lot in UDI and see traffic passing trough, it will still autoconnect to your road network when plopped, the only difference is that the game will stop seeing it as a 'transit switch' i.e. sims won't try to cross it to get to their job. If you do want your sims to consider passing trough the lot while they're commuting to their jobs, or want to know more about transit switches you can check this thread, I think there's also some info on the topic in the NAM documentation (IIRC it's in the Transit Stations Manual). -
One of the first interchanges I built back in 2013 with NAM 31, when I was a total RHW/MHO noob. Still, it's so neat and simple, that I've had little incentive to change it, here's the city around it, in 2017.

What Type Of SimCity 4 Player Are You?
Edvarz replied to Haljackey's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I'd also say eclectic, a mix of Mad Modder, Sandbox player and Playing the game player. I think i'm actually a Mad modder, as in kind of obsessive, because not only do I like to create my own lots and add content to the game, I also tweak a lot of the things I install: Building with unbalanced stats? Too many lamp posts in a lot make it look hideous at night? Are there props or textures that don't suit my whims? Building doesn't have a growable version?... You get the idea. I acces PIM-X almost as much as I acces the game itself, both actually appear at the top of my Windows 7 Start menu. Curiously enough, this allows me to just be a Playing the game player. After modding everything I can just fire up the game and develop my cities without having to worry about things like trash production suddenly skyrocketing, or a huge skyscraper developing in a low-density zone. This is also why I love the buildings and lots people like @mattb325 @T Wrecks or @kingofsimcity make, those get a direct pass to my Plugins folder, without any form of quality control. And sometimes I get frustrated and just play Sandbox style, I create a new region, exit the game and make a copy of a city file, then I import it to the new region, change the city name, and voila! I can just do whatever I want without having to worry about demand or traffic. This also helps me plan ahead and get a picture of how I want the actual functioning city to look like. Needless to say, I've put more hours into SC4 than any other videogame, even Skyrim. -
It's been a rough month for my country; after seeing so much destruction, it's kinda comforting to be building something again (even if it's virtually).

lexical Gran encuesta de Léxico Urbanístico
Edvarz replied to matias93's topic in Simtropolis en Español's Plaza Mayor

starting point 1. State of the Art
Edvarz commented on matias93's City Journal Entry in Ciudad del Lago in the making
Congratulations on your first CJ entry, man! The geographical setting is very interesting, and I'll look forward to seeing Ciudad del Lago's historical background, alternative history is always really fun to think and read about. It's good to have a Lat Am themed CJ around, especially one inspired by and andean nation, which are not often given representation. Sigue con el buen trabajo, hermano! PS: If you ever want a specially comissioned lot for this CJ, I'll be glad to contribute! -
How much social, cultural, and economic capital do you have?
Edvarz replied to Ocram's Razr's topic in General Off-Topic
Interesting, though I agree with Matias that it's harder to extrapolate for parts of the world that are not the US-UK-Western Europe. I entered the values for my own (somewhat) independent life, taking into account the aide I recieve from my family (income below 10k, no property and no savings): I got emergent service worker. It parallels somewhat accurately, though l suspect teachers in the UK are waaay better off than teachers here in Mexico. With a career in the humanities and most of my social and cultural capital being located here in the city, where housing prices are unaffordable for more than half of the country, I don't think I'll be owning property and moving up the ladder anytime soon... -

My Historic buildings pack got featured in the STEX! Does that count as a milestone? I don't recall any of my other uploads being featured, also, how do the STEX features work? I think you said it correctly, since the intention is to thank @Fantozzi for remarking your milestone in the thread, not merely noticing it. But I'm just nitpicking over the vagaries of language... Congratulations!

¡Impresionante! Otro más de mi querida Ciudad de México When I started looking for skyscrapers from Mexico I found many good ones that were built before the 2009 crisis. IIRC it's around this time that we started getting 3dsmax models for SC4, and it's also the time when the LBT stopped making content. As a result, there was no one left to BAT all the new projects that have been sprouting all over Paseo de la Reforma after the crisis. Torre Reforma is one of such buildings, and you, amigo, are the first one to fill that void. Thank you!
-
Nice! as @T Wrecks says, the props you are using go really well with the building model (Oh, BTW the pool and the fence props are LBT, I'd recognize them everywhere) If you're planning to release it, maybe you could do a version with tropical flora? Since the original building is from a city with a tropical climate, I think it would fit. Yep, that's also a thing here, especially with these super luxury resorts. And it's just as paranoid. Some complexes control the access at the building's entrance itself (I guess), but I'm thinking IRL the people inhabiting the condos wouldn't feel 'safe' without completely isolating their pool and their nice cars.

¡Fantástico! Otro de la Ciudad de México ¡y la Torre Mayor, nada menos! I love that you modeled the whole base so the tower doesn't just stand weirdly by itself, it completes the complex with parking and all the other stuff that normally goes with such buildings. The reflections also give it a ton of detailing. Oh, and you really outdid yourself with the nightlights! I have seen this building countless times and I've always thought it was deserving of a new version, this is a perfect heir to Heblem's old one. Thank you for recreating such an iconic landmark from Mexico City with the highest quality possible. This model, along with Harishna's UNAM buildings are the best representatives of the city in the SC4 world. Dude, I can only imagine what a Diego Del Llano version of Torre Latinoamericana would look like...
