    If you could take a screenshot or give us the link address to this 'free' Skylines download we'll be better able to advise. I would seriously doubt that it is a genuine thing, anyone 'giving' away current retail software is generally best regarded as a potential malware threat.

    If you are running as admin then the only other thing that springs to mind is that the Win 10 protected locations rules might be interfering. Try copying the files you need to alter to your Documents or Desktop folder and running the TSCT on them there. Windows 10 automatically protects certain folders (the 2 program file folders, windows system folders and the like), this may be the cause of the issue. Once you have altered them you can copy them back to the Program files folder. You can check the Admin thing by right clicking on the TSCT launcher and selecting 'Run as Administrator'. It should come up with a confirmation window asking if you are sure you want to give this program Admin privileges.
  7. @RobertLM78: Sweet. Do you have a second graphics card (even if its an old one, it only has to run DX7-9 level stuff)?

  9. @Ramona Brie Okay, done some digging and apparently VMware's Fusion Player software for Mac has support for Direct X built in. Unfortunately it costs $149/£125. @RobertLM78: VirtualBox is what's holding you back here. Its a good starter to get people into using VM's but its serously limited in terms of features. If you look into KVM for running the VM''s in linux you can link the second GPU to them. What specific hardware and distro are you running?
  10. Okay, unfortunately being on a laptop is gonna make it almost impossible to do what i was talking about. The passthru technique needs to use a second GPU that is tied to the VM, basically meaning that unless the laptop has 2 GPU's (unlikely for PC laptops, doubly so on a Mac) it's not gonna run.
  11. @Ramona Brie & @RobertLM78: What systems are you guys using for the VM's? I ask because I have experience with several of them, some of which can do GPU passthru, which would allow you to use hardware rendering inside the VM's. If you want to have a crack at it let me know and I'll walk you through it.

    What mods do you mean? Any chance of a list? I'm asking as @Tyberius06 is working on ProjectZIP (a real long term thing, he's trying to remove all exe installers by converting them to zip), and its always helpful to know what still needs done.

    This is a specific error from the Windows system, it indicates that the program has tried to write to a memory location that it does not have permission to access. You said previously that you are using SM2 sands to lay out beaches. I assume you mean these: It should be noted that truly vast amounts of MMP usage can have weird effects. I had one years ago that would not save properly after I'd covered about half a large tile with mmp work.

    Nope. If you bought from one of the online retailers (Steam, GoG, etc...) then all you have to do is login on the new machine and download again. Your in progress cities and plugins can be copied over to the new machine after it is installed. To get your Graphics Card details (On Win10) you can go to Start Menu > Windows System > Control Panel > Device Manager. This will open a new window listing the hardware attached to your computer. Expand the Display Adapters section to see which GPU(s) are installed on your device.

    True, with one exception: If the machine has a slot for an m2 ssd then the speed boost is seriously noticable. If you're using a SATA connection then the above statement is correct.

    @CorinaMarie, @Cyclone Boom: The Obsidian BaST tower by @onlyplace4 is also missing. Its listed as being hosted at simcities.com, but the link dead-end's. Anyone got a copy of the dark one?
  25. To get towers to build, specifically commercial ones, you need to get a lot of customers going thru the area. Use Avenues and the NWM roads in the NAM to increase the number of people able to move through the tiles, and add in subway/rail/monorail systems to bring in more people. You'll also need a well educated populace as the top jobs (Co$$$) need higher-end EQ ratings.
