1930 - colonisation.
Hello, hello! I recently stumbled upon CSGdesign's natural growth CJ, and reading it made me want to both give the concept a go myself, and also to record the progress here as I go. I've never done this before and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I'm just planning to go along with this for however long I can stay interested. So, without further ado, I welcome you to the previously undiscovered region of Maine: Maine is a small and relatively flat region made up of a headland and two fairly sized islands. There are a few other islands scattered around here and there as well, but it'll be a while before anyone has reason or means to travel to their shores. So, it's 1930 and for reasons unknown one bright man or woman decided to board a boat and sail to lands unknown with his or her crew of sailors and all of their extended families. After sailing for a considerable amount of time the boat washed upon the shores of Maine's largest island, an island of which remains unnamed on account of there being more important things to do rather than sitting around choosing names. It was at this time that the crew of the insignificant boat suffered a schism, which for those of you who don't know is a fancy word which here means that half of them wanted to stay where they were and the other half wanted to sail on to someplace more suitable. After a lot of kicking, yelling and name calling, the sims who chose to stay were thrown overboard, where they suffered concussions, and upon waking up remembered nothing of how they came to be where they were. (We all know how hopelessly confused the simlish can be). The other half then sailed onwards for a short while, before becoming stuck in the shallow waters on the coast of the mainland, although at the time these sims didn't know it was the mainland. Upon getting off the ship, they too fell on their heads, suffered concussions and had no recollection of the events that bought them to where they were. In this way, their voyage was insignificant simply for no one could remember it. The first bunch of sims began to establish themselves, using shells to clear trees, which they then used to build houses, as well as beginning to farm the land so as to provide them with food. (There's only so much fish a person can eat, real life and simulation alike). These sims named their settlement Chester. The second bunch did the same, although with more luck as indeed the headland was a better location for farming, and they named their settlement Oaksbay. Chester: Oaksbay: The locations of both settlements in relevance to a map of Maine: And that's the story of how the region of Maine came to be home to it's first simlish. To continue on, or to not continue on? -

Minecraft Building and Terrain Concepts! + Replies
Hey guys, I've finally settled into Miami, and have a special update today. Basically, I'm taking a break on SC4 because I wanted to show you guys my building and terrain experience with Minecraft. Because Minecraft is a building game, I assume most SC4 players have played this game which is why I decided to post it, enjoy! Please give me feedback on whether you liked it or not, thanks Escilnavia ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Note: replies will be in the comment section of the previous entry from now on. Another Note: This map is not mine, all the buildings shown are my creations ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now before we begin, I found this server though the help of google. This server is practically anti-grief and all the people are very nice and helpful. I first started building my house and noticed (not to brag) how well the wood looked in contrast to the forest wood. I did more testing with this and realized how better it looked if you used the same wood as the forest around you provided (for example oak and oak). But I also realized that it would not look good as a solid color, so I mixed the gray of the cobblestone and the brown of the wood to create the following effect, the wood stair case roof also made it look more realistic and have more character as well: Now, I also did this with the dam I built near a river. This shows that this combination also works for any basic structures: Land terraforming and world editing: Now that we looked at how to add a little more character in basic structures, we'll be looking at how to (if you like to) terraform the land to make it look more appealing, also please note I did not edit this land, I am simply taking observations from how it appears. This river, I noticed, looked a lot better than the randomly generated one. I realized that the one color of gravel made it feel like a real coast line, rather than there being a mix of sand dirt and gravel randomly scattered near a river. I also liked the effect of having rocks come out into the river, once again adding the effect of realism: Moving on, this server the biomes happen to be all separated by a large body of water, which in turn also seems more realistic then there being a desert next to a snow biome. So please keep in mind if you are a map creator to make sure the biome separation seems believable. Thanks for reading, please +1, rate, comment and/or follow if you enjoyed. Escilnavia And now I leave you with a picture of a nice sunset. -

Capital entry 1. The growing city.
I have been working on this city for some time now, and I think its time for the first entry. The total population is about 40,000 people now and the comercial and industrial is also a high population. As the cross parks are not even close to being competed yet, I will not focus on those to much.... The above image is a update of a older area. More updates and a full CJ to come. - 6

Brewinstown: The Historic City by the Bay of Selmar
Brewinstown is the oldest city in New Abbonia, with it's founding dating back to 1592. The city quickly began a centre of trade, farm products coming inland were traded to the mother country, Spain, and merchants traded goods in the city's multiple markets. Over the years, the city became and industrial and economic centre. With thousands of historic brownstones, a signature red tram system, and a culturally diverse Chinatown, the city is a true representation of New Abbonia's majesty. -------------------------------------------------------------- Brewinstown's historic ports, dating back over 400 years. Wallace: the seed of Industry
Welcome to Wallace. This is the my starting point of setting in heavy industry into mostly agrarian region (though the actual starting points are in Boscov and Dundee). Wallace is the depot for all garbage coming from Coventry and later Dundee and its metro area. Wallace is actually just the sliver of land between the two creeks it dumps it's industrial waste into. This town is grungy, working class and environmentally unsafe, but provides for it's grunts and is highly productive in the nuclear up-keep sector. Wallace produces much of Novoe Russkaya's current power demand from the Ernst Nuclear Power Station and from the neighboring Flat-top Wind farms. The Ernst Power Station has been an environmental disaster throughout it's tumultuous history with Wallace and the neighboring areas. The Ernst Power Station is an renovated and costly maintained former Soviet Union nuclear power station. While the station has not fell into such disastrous disrepair as it's Russian counterparts, the plant's location and future are uncertain. At the time, few in Novoe Russkaya knew of the dangers of large scale nuclear material could have on a populated area, so when it was realized that if Mt. Tahoma ever erupts, the city of Dundee, Cedar River and Boscov would all be exposed to the full forced of a radioactive flood due to the plant's position at the headwaters of the great lahar valley. The wind project has been especially expensive as the windmills on the flat-tops and in the eastern territories over the mountains have become the number option to the Ernst power station or reverting to using American coal again, which most Longhouse citizens are reluctant to do. - 6

Twoland... Land divided by sea
Replies: @I L: Once again, thank you. Also, thanks for suggestions. In this entry I replaced power plants with wind farms and solar power plant. It does look great. Now it's real Green State New picture of region (after many changes) is imported in first page of CJ. Here is the last city in the United States of Severius. Total population: 160,000. One part of a Twoland (former Glassing) near Ementalering has always been a part of UsS. The second part (former State of Bybill) was joined to UsS after bankruptcy. But there was no connection between the two countries. To recover a new state, UsS decided to build the bridges that connect them. Now these are the longest bridges in the UsS. And now it turns out that it attracts tourists. And apart from the commercial sector, tourism has a major role in country. Recoverd commercial district of former state Bybill Wind farm Suburbs Night pic: First part of Twoland (former Glassing) Night pic: Second part of Twoland (former Bybill) This was my first CJ, and soon I will start a second region and then a new CJ. Simul8ter8 - 00Stevo - Thanks :3 10000000000000 - I hope I do X3 Ghostlider - Yep, it's in there. I tried getting more of the American and Canadian buildings in, but of course there's a few others that aren't that will be here. Jill Jacobs - It's the Gardener Center building (Darknite) It's been a while. Lost interest and my Simcity slowness didn't help. Launched it today and found out it's running fast again. Maybe it's fixed, who knows. I made this quick so I could put something out, that 2 month limit thing (new thing in AIN that if you don't post a CJ in 2 months you get downgraded to a new membership, which is lower than the associate which I am) is coming in fast. I'm still working on the bigger cities too, very slowly though. Perhaps I'll post pictures from Chatham next, it's coming out rather well. This is the town of Dexter, a small town. The town is located on a hill near the ocean, with cliffy shores. I really don't know how to describe this, but the picture should explain it much better. There's plenty of farms near the town as well. Darn helicopters. Here's a bonus that AIN saw a while back. Picture from SBC during the Simlympics at Das'gotn! -

2 | 100th Birthday!
It's the eve of Evestown's (lol) 100th Birthday, and citizens are more than proud! Tonight, the city has been looking especially beautiful... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EngpWglT3p4 Below is Hydrangea Bridge, the result of the population explosion that took place in the mid 80s to late 90s. It's about to get especially busy since citizens want to go downtown and party! Even people in the suburbs are throwing parties! Usually the lights would be out by now on most houses! The city is spectacular and lively tonight! It's 1 AM and people are still driving into downtown from every section of the city! You would be lucky to be living on one of the island suburbs, as the bridges are congested and hectic as people come in from the other suburbs off the island! Hotel rooms are booked and the marina is lit up! A new hotel has opened and tonight is its first night open. Every single room is taken! It is called, "Majestic City Tower", and is the tallest building in Evestown. The people of Evestown are very pleased. It's now daytime, and the celebrations and partying are yet to end! Even the stingy city government has splurged a little bit and decided to reward its well behaved citizens with a new football (soccer) stadium! It's right in the middle of downtown and the city is planning on participating in many more sporting events and putting together official teams! The city of Evestown is happy and content, today has been a nice day for the people of Evestown. See you next time! If you enjoyed this entry, use the many possible ways to show me! -

(Re edited) - A Tour Over Hastings
Note: I know that Hastings is a real world city, and it is located on the south coast of England. However, the Hastings i created in SimCity has no connection with the real world Hastings, nor with England. I just think that "Hastings" is a beautiful name for a city. Here we can see an aerial photo of Hastings, showing its richest areas. Hastings is a great city located in northern Sim Region. This image shows one of the most important zones of Hastings: its greatest commercial zone, which is responsible for the creation of several jobs, so this is the area of the city that keeps the majority of citizens earning money. But not all areas of Hastings are so valued. In the picture above we can see the industrial area of Hastings, which also generates many jobs, however, is a highly polluted area. Also in this area is where all the waste generated by citizens is deposited. Then, due to the high pollution generated, the industrial zone is away from commercial and residential zones. But there are also highly valued industries in Hastings, as can be seen in the picture above. Besides these industries do not pollute, they are also of high benefit to the population. And here ends our tour over Hastings. Do not forget to rate and comment if you liked it! -

Dixfield Town
Dixfield Town Population: 687 One day Sid Dixie was walking along the local river looking for tasty fish to catch for that evening's dinner. Fish were scarce that day so Sid followed the river further downstream than usual. In the distance he noticed a very bright object. Intrigued, he set off to see what it could be. The object was large and yellow, and when Sid got close enough he recognised it; it was a melon! Parched from his extensive fishing trip, Sid decided to take a break and enjoy one of the melons. This was the tastiest melon Sid had ever eaten. He enjoyed it so much that he ate two more melons, abandoned his fishing trip, and returned home with enough melons for his wife and young child. Ever since stumbling across the tasty melon patch Sid would always stop by on his fishing trips to eat a melon, and put an extra one in his bag to have with that evening's supper. However, the melon field wasn't growing back! Eventually all of the tastiest melons would be lost! Sid was not going to let this happen. He ran back home and proposed that his family set up a farm at the melon patch. His wife, also a melon connoisseur, agreed. Just two weeks later Dixfield farm was established. Sid and his wife worked hard to bring the melon field back to life. Their efforts paid off and they now had a plentiful supply. News of the Dixies' farm spread and melon enthusiasts from all over the state came to visit. Some very frequent visitors eventually decided to move near the farm. This pleased the Dixies as they now had a small community to share their love of melons with. It wasn't long before enough people moved in and transformed the single farm into Dixfield Town. Dixfield officially has the best melons in the whole state. Melons are the town's primary export and source of income. Aerial Photos DixfieldTown. A wind turbine provides clean electricity. Pollution in the town is minimized to keep the melon crop healthy. The Dixies' farm. Many of the Dixies' family and close friends live on the farm. Some of Dixfield's first houses to not be build on farmland. The residents helped to construct a green parkland area in the center of the Farmland Woods housing estate. The water tower provides fresh drinking water to all the village's buildings. The town is still expanding as more melon farmers move in. Satellite Photos Dixfield is located in the north west of Fairwater, along the river Kane.- Read More

SimCoug "I suddenly feel like watching old x-files episodes..." -The truth is out there... Alejandro24 "Aliens and secret bases? I hope there will be something more new. But the photomanipulation is great." -I got some new things cooked up, and thank you. I'm no photoshop master but glad you enjoy. Simul8ter8 "Heh nice UFO... can I take it for a spin?" -Ha, if they'll let you IL. "Very nice I can't wait to see more. Btw, I prefer to see the story only, but maybe you should also make another city journal, for the building steps and such, that would be awesome, or maybe an entry about construction, and the next entry is about the story, and so on, like 0101010101... 5 from me " -Thank you, and it has been done, there will be two CJ's Alejandro24 "The last picture is great." -Glad you like it, should see how it looks now. Now, we continue our story... The government must have done this! My god... I must get the news out! Hawk One: We have to clean to mess up fast - Base 5: Attention, the Mother-ship has arrived. Single 1A-H75 was confirmed received by alien forces, all units return to base at once, in case friendlies turn to hostiles, repeat all units return to base. Hawk One: Copy that command. Roll out on the double, back to base! Hawk Two: Can't I find the bug first? Hawk One: Negative, nothing is coming in or out of this town, and besides we have orders to return at once, the mother-ship has arrived. Hawk Three: You serious? Hawk Two: Fine, more bugs to squash. Hawk One: Negative, we are ordered to precive as friendly, untill noted as otherwise. Hawk Three: We killed about 17 of them already... Hawk Two: Exactly, you really think they came down here to make friends with their killers? Hawk One: ... We have our orders, move out! They're... leaving? What one Earth could pull them away while a disaster like this is going on...? Hm... W-What is that...? Is that a cloud? They're flying towards it... it can't be... I got to get my camera! The world has to know of what happened here! And - What ever... that is... Hawk One: Something is not right, my controls are going crazy... Hawk Two: Yeah, my aren't responding!! Hawk Three: My engines turned off!! Hawk One: Something has fried our electronics!! Brace for emergency landing - Hawk Two: I can't - Hawk Three: Ahhhhhh!! ... ... ... ... ... ...Meanwhile... Date: July 14th, 1963 Location: Base 5, Nevada Time: 19:00 - 22:00 ... ... ... ... ...One Day Latter... Date: July 15th, 1963 Location: Washington D.C. Time: 08:00 President John F. Kennedy: People, please, be seated. Now, it is common knowledge now that the city of Ash Burn was completely wiped out. This was originally thought to be the cause of a weapons explosion in a factory that then set off an UN-stoppable chain of reaction. This was not the case... Press: Mr President, Mr. President!! President Jhon F. Kennedy: Order, please! Now, it was estimated 23,000 lives were lost, and only one survivor. This survivor who shall remain nameless to protect his identity, has said it was the work of Aliens. What was once considered a silly notion, has sense become the truth... On July 24th, we lost contact with a research facility located approximately 100 miles East of Ash Burn. It is our understanding the Aliens attacked Ash Burn, then this facility to avoid us reaching out and providing proper response to the people of Ash Burn. Our only witness said, and I quote: "The ship flew off into the sky as quickly as it came." We do not know what to make of this attack, only that we are not alone, and we must be ready. Our hearts and prayers go out to the lives lost. Press: Mr President, Mr. President!! If the Aliens return, will we have the force to stop them? President John F. Kennedy: Yes, yes we will. We were un prepared for an Alien Invasion, but this time, we will not be. Press: Mr President, how can it be that 20,000 lives were lost with no response of any kind until the next day? President John F. Kennedy: As I said, the communication towers to the area, were destroyed. It is a very Rigged area, and strong towers are, say you "Life Lines" of the area. If signal is not received for 12 hours, we investigate. Sand storms, and high winds render the towers useless for hours, which is why we set a 12 hour time frame. We acted as soon as it was called for. I will take one more question only. Press: Mr President, Mr President! It's said that the research facility was actually a hidden base that rivals that of Area 51, and that they knew this was coming, and reported Ash Burn was under attack hours before they met their demise. Is it true they're was an attempted cover up and - President John F. Kennedy: We responded as quickly as we could to the UN-known threat, that is all I have to say on the subject, thank you. Press: Mr President, Mr President!! Wait! Mr. President! ... ... ... ... ... ...On The Other Side of the Country... Good Morning Los Angeles!! It's your morning station KPFK!! Have you herd? Ash Burn, small city in the Nevada Desert, was destroyed! That's right folks! With only one survivor! A his photos have shown us the Truth! Aliens are real, and they are cold blooded killers! But you have to ask yourselves... are we really safe? Of course! With all due respect to Ash Burn it was small and in the middle of no where! If Aliens came knocking on our door, you can rest assured the army would be there to greet them! But on to a lighter note, here is that NUMBER ONE! Song, and band! The Kingsmen by Louie Louie!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cec1JInytH0 ... ... ... ... ... ... Thanks for waiting guys, I worked hard on bringing together everything on this one so if you like it, please give it 5 stars, and if you're feeling really generous leave a comment! Can't promise when the next update will be, as I'm not 100% sure the direction I want to go from here just yet... Now, with that, I suppose "Chapter 1" draws to a close... thanks for the views and rates guys, comment below things you'll like to see (pictures), or things you think you will see in the next chapter. If you got questions you feel were left UN-answered, or just curious about something post it! My other project is up "Hot Springs" check it out! Lastly, thanks again for the support, you guys have been super awesome, and it's been fun doing this and seeing people enjoy it, so thank you so much! - 9

A Taste Of Things To Come
Welcome to my new CJ! I have lurked around and whatnot with CJs in the past, but this time I plan to keep it going a while. Let's start of with the basic stuff. This CJ has many different architectural influences, mainly North American, Japanese, and Eastern European. For basic mods (since I don't like to wait around for things and run out of money) I use moneytree and a Demand Mod. Other than that I mostly grow my cities unless I want to be particular. So, let's start of with two pictures to give you an idea of what my play style is. Mid-Rises etc. A Pond. (Duh) I like to be particular with how I build, I usually do not have a grey area when it comes to Terrain usage. It's either total control over the terrain in urban areas, or absolutely no modifications to terrain in Natural settings. I also will answer any questions you have. I'm looking forward to Posting more as time goes by. Welcome to Kasatka Prefecture!
