MySimtropolis - Invitation to become a SimCity 4 MySim
Mr_Robotico replied to CorinaMarie's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
In the quiet corners of the digital realm, another mayor raises his hand: —I also want to print my name in the vastness coded of this game. A moderator will help achieve this task: —You shall give me 3 commands: What's your name, if I may ask, what's your gender, and your sign? I will give you the awaited answers: —Sign is Libra, no way cancer. Name's Mr Robotico, as they can read. Gender: male, cause option is binary. It will be such a glory, in this idea of Cori, to become the 200th user immortalised for the future. ---------- I love writing poems, although I'm not used to write poetry in English, it was fun indeed . This is a cool proyect, finally I decided to take part in! -

Hi, fellow Mayors! I was wondering where to find this building in the left-down corner with the pool and the truck that appeared in a picture of a great recent @mattb325 residential mod. Thank you in advance!

Hello NAM Team, I am having this issue while attempting to intersect two avenues with flexible on-slope bridges. I am using level 2 height and the 15m raiser lot. It seems that if the piece connecting the bridge is facing north, looks darker. I not an experienced NAM user, so I'm not sure if what I am doing is something wrong or this is a minor acknowledged texture bug. Thank you in advance for your support.

¿Qué estás haciendo?
Mr_Robotico replied to matias93's topic in Simtropolis en Español's Plaza Mayor

Do you want a SimCity 4 Online Multiplayer Launcher ?
Mr_Robotico replied to chirila1609's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi Chirila! I'm positive that everything that can expand and improve the game will be well received. I am still a newbie in SC4 community so I have no idea about older mods and how that multiplayer sistem worked, even if there have been others before and what were their strengths and weaknesses. I expect senior members can give you some insight and advice about the way to do this. The idea of playing multiplayer sure it does sound attractive to me and I am very excited to see this project develop. On the other hand, I see you talking about an approximate threshold of people in order to flourish the Project. This is utterly reasonable, knowing beforehand a target audience is important in any mayor undertaking that consumes time and resources. However, I think I wish you recall this: many people may not watch the forums. There are people that are not even here nowadays, but they will be in the future. Any proyect does not only help those who are today here, but can have an impact in the future and maybe, a higher coverage that you might think. Moreover not sure if you have already done this but you should also ask in Simcity4devotion as the other mayor active community I know. Another personal life advice, no offense. A clean speach is easier to read and more persuasive (props to you for the photos, they are really useful). So if I am not wrong: Intended Features: Play online with your friends with a brand-new launcher! Supports offline game. Public and private servers. Choose how many players can join a server. Account system for protecting your cities and leaderboard. Friend list? Select your region (Here I have a question, is it only available Maxis default regions or any region in your Regions folder could be uploaded). Supports plugins! (Could you explain this again please?) I am pretty excited about this project. many blessings and good luck! -
What Music are you listening to right now?--The Second Verse

This is such a cool thread! Lots of different, new sounds are waiting to be discovered! I was listening this electronic track arranged for orchestra. Hope you enjoy. -
Why do you still play SC4 ?
Mr_Robotico replied to Kleiner Timmy's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Basically, that is a short and quite accurate answer. One of the most attractive features of SimCity, in my opinion, is that you can have massive regions (in fact you can custom the length and width), and massive cities consistent in many city tiles as a difference to other games. The jump from 2D to 3D added to that in these games (Cities Skylines, SimCity 2013...) there is a complete simulation of all inhabitants, (and all the entities like cars, trucks and sims) implies spending more resources of the engine and limits the size of the city and/or region. A few years ago, the fact that vanilla CS didn't have Hi-Tech industry really bothered me. However, some dlcs improve the gaming experience nowadays (but you have to pay...). On the other hand, even though I am recent into modded SimCity, there are plenty of great BATs for SimCity as much as for Cities Skylines. In both cases there are mods of striking quality so I don't think that is my main reason. The fact of having a grid in SimCity might be seen as a limitation but it actually helps me for plopping decorations or building streets as opposed to 3D environments (though I admit can have more potential). This sounds me familiar... there are also many childhood memories. Maybe because it was a game I growth with. SimCity is still fun, and recently I am discovering a lot of mods, gamestyles, content and facts I didn't know before joining the community . -
Buildings "lowering" their wealth
Mr_Robotico replied to Lfelipe06's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
¡Hola amigo! First of all, it is always a pleasure to meet another Spanish-speaker here in Simtropolis. However, I am answering you in English, but If you have any doubts, don't hesitate and write me a message. Cualquier duda escríbeme I am not an expert in SimCity either, although I can give you advice based on my own experience. What I think are the main reasons of abandonment or downgrade are desirability and demand. The former, desirability. Any minor changes in desirability in the area near the building can have an impact. Any park destroyed, a change of the range of services or more commonly an increase in air pollution, crime and garbage, as these are usual problems that appear with high-density cities. Take in mind that an abandoned building have a negative desirability effect in near buildings and can cause a chain reaction. Abandoned buildings also have more flammability and crime. So keep the city clean, with parks and plazas for high desirability. The latter, demand. As I see most of the classes have a 9.0% tax rate I would say that you have not changed this so demand has not been affected. Despite of this, I see that residential demand is overwhelming. If you don't want to delete those pesky greyish downgraded buildings (fastest solution), as @CorinaMarie has said try focusing on residential growth. In fact, in one of the pictures you can see that the demand for CO$$$ is low (approx 500) and really lower compared to residential demand. I will explain you what can happen in a city (personal experience): The city has enough demand for a CO$$$ skyscraper and enough desirability in an area so it appears. Time passes and due to whatever reason (desirability, traffic...) the building downgrades. As a consequence, the demand for CO$$$ rises again as that building is now for $$, and another skyscraper CO$$$ appears. If the desirability decreases again, another downgraded building you have and the cycle might repeat. Eventually, the city ends up with lots of filthy, geyish buildings. Commuting and freight times might also have an impact if they are too long as @jeffryfisher has said. Not having available jobs imply abandonment in residential buildings, as every mayor knows. However, if you are playing "vanilla with NAM" you might not have the patch for the HT-Industry and thus wealthy residents might be downgrading to middle class because Hi-Tech industry is not providing the correct amount of jobs to wealthy inhabitants. Check out this great post: To sum up: Desirability -) Parks (residential) and Plazas (commercial). Control air polution, waste and crime in big cities as usual problems. Demand: if CO$$$ downgrading -) residential growth Traffic Jobs (if residential abandonment) I hope this can help you. Let us know! Espero que te sirva! -
Hi! Nice city you are sharing, the night scene looks pretty cool. By the way, is the building with the vertical cyan neon lights a BAT from STEX? I would like to have that it in future cities.

poll Which kind of SimCity 4 player are you?
Mr_Robotico replied to Lucario Boricua's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I really love your descriptions of the diferent game styles, so hilarious. I love creating from quiet, tiny rural villages to vast skyscrapers jungles, so bit of a combination of pastoralist, suburbanite and skysraper junkie, so that the synthesis is Jack of all trades. However, probably my main style is what @Naomi57 has remarked, "Vanilla Economist". I feel pretty confortable with the vanilla growth simulation experience and I don't mind "those pesky Maxis buildings" . One of the things I really like is starting in a vast empty region and developing it. The enjoyment is not in the goal, but in the journey itself. I also remember those days of being a Newbie and using weaknesspays and you don't deserve it cheats all the time. Who had known that low density areas don't need water? Why building a hospital and a school at every corner, even next to commercial zones? Well, economically those "cities" (not a single skyscraper) were a complete bankruptcy but the 200IQ was worth it, I suppose. Then, I started to learn and definitively I became a corrupt mayor . I needed the extra money of the casino, prision and radioactive waste thingy so I filled the city with all that undesirable buildings (Poor Lil' Timmy). To top it all, I started working for Dr Vu for that extra shiny §... lots of fun in the dark side but now I am a respetable mayor... I think… ohhh some nice UFOs… a volcano would be a nice addition to that park next to the new skyscraper…. Now seriously, I'm not much of a "Destroyer of Worlds" . That could be a separated game style from Distopian.- 33 Replies

Hi everyone! I love city-building, sandbox and strategy games since I can remember. SimCity 4 was probably the 1st proper city builder I played (well, I have nice childhood memories from a game called Lego Loco but was more of a sandbox game). I have been playing SimCity 4 over a decade, from intense activity periods to long breaks but like it has been said before, always coming back. A few years ago, I bought the Deluxe edition in Steam, and several months ago, with all this unexpected pandemic stuff, I started playing again. This was the first time with mods. I don't know how I have played this game without mods all this time! So I have to sincerely show my gratitude to the community for such amount of top-notch content. In addition to Simcity4, right now Banished and Cities Skylines are the other city building games I am most interested in, but classic sagas like Caesar will always have a place in my heart.
