For anyone who hasn't discovered it yet, @simmaster07 has done some helpful and lovely work (and brilliant) for those of us in the Mac community. He has converted/reprogrammed a couple of .dll plugins and made them into .so plugins so that they can be read by a Mac. He has created a plugin loader to load those .so files. First Things First Be aware of the following notice on the MacInjector page. Back up your files. To be safe, I made a back up of my plugins and regions directories. Download & Install MacInjector I will try and give a painstakingly detailed step by step. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/32047-sc4macinjector-a-dynamic-code-plugin-loader-for-mac/ Follow the link above, read the "About This File" notes, and click on the "Download File" button You can try opening the package directly from your Downloads folder (double clicking) but if your security is like mine, you will get a message that "“SC4MacInjector.pkg” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." In order to bypass that security, right click on the .pkg and choose "Open" from the menu. You will then get a pop-up message "“SC4MacInjector.pkg” is from an unidentified developer. Are you sure you want to open it?" Click "Open" and the installer will open. Follow the instructions on the installer. Three changes I noticed after the install. 1 - When I have SC4 running, if I switch windows and leave the game running, the icon in my dock changed from the SC4 icon to a black system icon. 2 - The first time I restarted the game after installation it reverted to the Timbuktu tutorial region so I had to navigate back to the region I was building in. 3 - There is now a "libinjector.dylib" file in my plugins directory. (Leave it there.) None of these are any concern - just don't want you to be surprised. Great! I have a New Tool! What Do I Do With It? Hopefully there will be more future developments, but for now I know of at least two. (If I discover more or if you discover more, please comment and add them!) Buggi's Cheats https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/32048-buggis-extra-cheats-for-mac/ This allows Mac players to use Buggi's extra cheat codes (for those so inclined - no judgement). I know I'm working on recreating a specific city right now and not playing the traditional game, per se. Being able to to type "Moolah 1000000" and instantly have $1 million to develop with sped up my process. Take the downloaded file "ExtraCheatsMac.so" (it's not zipped - it's ready to go) and move it to your plugins folder. Done. When you are in-game all you have to do is hit Ctrl-x and then either type your command/cheat code (if you know it) or right click in the dialog box and a list of commands will appear. Real Upgradeable City Halls 1.1.0 https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/31339-real-upgradeable-city-halls/ When you click on the download button, choose the Mac only version. Open the zip file and place the .dat and .so extracted files in your plugins directory. Done. Have FUN! That's all for now! Have fun! Build the region of your dreams! I am NOT a technical person, but post questions for clarification below and I'll do my best or someone will hopefully have an answer. And THANK YOU @simmaster07 for your work while you juggle school! Also thank you, @Hamish for the suggestion to write this up. If it needs to go elsewhere, please do whatever needs to be done.

Dear @chfzdn, I have no real answers for you, but want to send you many well wishes, encouragement, and care. The world can be a terrifying, ugly, and hard place. It can also be filled with astonishing beauty and hope. My opinion is that at your age, you do not HAVE to know what you are going to do for the rest of your life, but perhaps that is different in your corner of the world or in how the educational system is set up in your city / country. I will say that it is never wrong or bad to learn something, even if you wind up learning something else later and doing that instead. Anything that educates you will open your mind up to more knowledge. The best advice I ever got was to read as much fiction as I could, especially about people who are nothing like me, and to read biographies.... That reading would open up my life to ideas that never occurred to me. I was also advised to travel as much as I could afford in order to learn about the world and all of the amazing people in it. If you maintain your efforts for fairness, kindness, and goodness, I know you will find a way to turn any job or skill into a way to make the world better. One other thought I have to share is a story about making the world better. It is not a perfect story, but it illustrates how we can affect the world around us, even if it's just a little at a time: Once upon a time, there was an old man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach every morning before he began his work. Early one morning, he was walking along the shore after a big storm had passed and found the vast beach littered with starfish as far as the eye could see, stretching in both directions. Off in the distance, the old man noticed a small boy approaching. As the boy walked, he paused every so often and as he grew closer, the man could see that he was occasionally bending down to pick up an object and throw it into the sea. The boy came closer still and the man called out, “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?” The young boy paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean. The tide has washed them up onto the beach and they can’t return to the sea by themselves,” the youth replied. “When the sun gets high, they will die, unless I throw them back into the water.” The old man replied, “But there must be tens of thousands of starfish on this beach. I’m afraid you won’t really be able to make much of a difference.” The boy bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it as far as he could into the ocean. Then he turned, smiled and said, “It made a difference to that one!”

After dealing with pox or whatever went wrong, I have been slowly making more progress with my build of Asheville. Some buildings still haven't grow in as desired yet, but it's moving along! I included a close of of a side street coming off of a NAM 5 TLA. It's makes a funny little bite, which I've hidden from view at some angles by a Norway Maple (nevermind that those don't exist in Asheville to my knowledge. I'm hunting around on NAM threads to see if there is a solution or if I'm just going to ignore it. More of downtown filled in I'm starting to build out the western side of downtown, including my interpretation of Pritchard Park, a little triangular downtown park. Here is the bite.

I vote option D... mostly because of the humorous concept that @T Wrecks pointed out. Also - it's common that they are together and I like the signage

My apologies if this has been covered - I've searched extensively and can't find the answer and would like some help, please. All of the trees and MMPs have disappeared from my latest city. I gather this is a result of "prop pox." So I read each of the following carefully: https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/74667-revisiting-prop-pox-and-prop-theory/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/32047-sc4macinjector-a-dynamic-code-plugin-loader-for-mac/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30883-sc4fix-third-party-patches-for-sc4/ https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/70495-game-framework-compatible-dll-loading-and-other-modding-discoveries/ I downloaded the sc4macinjector and ran it. All seems unchanged - no harm done. (I backed up plugins and regions just in case.) I downloaded sc4fix - which seems to be doing wonders for our Windows friends - YAY!!! It is a .dll file. I have no clue what to do with it. My VERY basic computer knowledge is that .dll files can't run on Mac. Regarding the sc4macinjector it says the following on its page: "What does this do SC4MacInjector allows the Mac equivalent of .dll mods to be loaded on Aspyr's port of SimCity 4 for Intel Macs. Note: you will not be able to use Windows .dll mods directly. They need to be targeted specifically for Macs as .so files." OK. I comprehend those words, but haven't a clue as to what that means in action - or if there is something I can do to target a .dll file as an .so file. <insert very confused llama, perhaps > 1. Do I actually have prop pox? Have I made the correct assumption that the pox caused my MMPs and props on small residentials to disappear? 2. Can someone guide on what, if anything, there is to be done about it? I feel clueless and in way over my head from a technological standpoint. Like... I understand technology better than your 90 year old grandma who just made you those amazing cookies*, but ... sometimes... not much. *A hypothetical grandma. Now I want cookies.

Pololomia's City Centre (North)
etg-nc2nyc commented on The British Sausage's City Journal Entry in My SC4 CJ Scrapbook
I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said... your attention to detail and realism mixed with your imagination and skill are all inspirational. It is a pleasure to slowly look through your work for all of the gems. The bit that caught my attention this time was the teeny tiny ... alleyways??? ending in square lots ... behind the houses in picture #7.- 5 Comments

Update: With the sc4macinjector I was able to install the mac version of Buggi's Cheats, so I know the macinjector works like a CHARM. Thank you, @simmaster07!!!! I tried the method outlined by @kingofsimcity in one of the threads of opening SC4, changing the city detail, quitting, restarting, opening city, saving, etc. A few residential lots got a couple of props back, but most are still gone. Almost all MMPs are gone. (I realize the method was to be applied AFTER installing the SC4Fix, but I thought it was worth a shot!) It has affected all four of my cities in the region. I had recently installed some new plugins and keep new plugins sequestered until I'm sure I want them and know they don't cause problems. So I made sure I deleted anything from them in my cities and removed them from plugins. No change. So I bulldozed all of my low density property, and redid my MMPs. Oops. After saving and reopening this morning... it's all gone again. In case it is helpful: I'm on a Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) laptop. OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. My SimCity 4 was purchased and downloaded through my App Store : Aspyr SimCity 4 Deluxe / Rush Hour edition version 1.1.1 downloaded in February 2018. I don't have the kind of space needed to run boot camp and have a version of Windows to run SC4 on, and the app I have is the Mac version, with no CD. I tried to use Wineskin, but that doesn't work either (since it's not a windows app I assumed). If there is no "cure" right now for Mac users, is my only recourse to ditch my region entirely and start over??? Thank you anyone who can help or at least tell me I'm SOL and need to start over!

I'm on a Mac and haven't figured out how to use the fix or even if I can. I've posted a thread about it in the Mac forum, so hopefully there is an answer. Regardless, the fix is brilliant.

@DavidDHetzel & @nycsc4 - I have been shocked by the number of parking lots in downtown Asheville. Also... I swear there is a church every two blocks. The block where I used to attend church has three. Aaaaand I just got the prop pox, so now I'm dealing with that. Sad panda. @Haljackey This is BEAUTIFUL! I love all of your attention to detail.

I'm working on "recreating" Asheville, NC ... not faithfully, but using maps and roads and some landmarks for inspiration and guidance. Since I'm on a Mac, there are some things I can't do, but I'm learning how to incorporate MMPs and having fun finding Mods, Lots and BATs that so many of you have inspired me with!

I'm inspired by the double streets with park "medians"! The cross park is an especially nice touch! Did you build that or is that a park lot?
