Hello, I have been using NAM for several years and know and use the 4GB patch (as there is no other way to play NAM. I use other mods as well. I fully use Ulisse Wolf's Performance and Graphics list to configure my PC. I have played SimCity 4 Deluxe modded with the sage advice from Simtropolis users for years now. Please bear with me as this is a long entry. I have tried to include every step I have taken as well as its result. A few weeks ago, after having dealt with general slow-down and bog of my PC's performance to my liking (completely unrelated to SimCity 4 Deluxe) and I decided to format the drive, reload Windows 11 Pro and start installing programs again to get up and running. SimCity 4 Deluxe was at the top of my list of course because it is my favorite game. As a rule I try to format and start reinstalling my computer programs from scratch once a year just to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Sadly though, SimCity 4 Deluxe would no-longer work and I have looked at the variables that were different this time from the last time I loaded up everything. Before I get started my specs are: CPU=AMD Ryzen 5950X GPU= AMD Radeon 6950XT RAM= 128GB. I have more than two terabytes free space on my NVMe drive. I am having no other issues with my PC. Right off the bat I want to point out that a major difference is now I am using Windows 11 25H2 as that is the version that now comes as default. I don't know if this is the culprit; but I am kind of surprised because 25H2 is not that strong a departure from 25H1. Nonetheless, I can't rule it out. There was also a very recent update to JAVA. Again, shouldn't be an issue; but I'm not ruling anything out. I am using the exact specifications outlines in how to run SimCity 4 Deluxe for an AMD card as opposed to Nvidia, etc. I have nothing running. It is pure default. I outlined the steps I took and noted when it would last work patch wise. I installed the 4GB patch, launched SimCity 4 with it, all was well. - I then backed everything up. I installed the SC4CPUOptions, launched SimCity 4 with [Admin] set to TRUE and [Priority] set to AboveNormal, all was well, I then backed up separately in my Documents\SimCity 4 folder. Then I installed the SC4GraphicsOptions with the only following modification. I switched [WindowWidth] from 1920 to 2560 and [WindowHeight] from 1080 to 1440. When I launched it, the game seemed to start, then crashed to desktop. If I switched it back to 1920x1080, it would work. I own a 2560x1440 monitor. It worked fine with my old install of SimCity 4 Deluxe with my mods; what has changed, I don't know. I backed up the Documents\SimCity 4 folder separately just in case I would need something to cite. Then I installed and ran SC4Fix in 1920x1080 and it launched fine. I backed things up separately. Then I installed SC4AutoSave, launched SimCity 4 it, all was well. Then I installed the just freshly updated DgVoodoo 2. Again, I was running in 1920x1080 still. No problems. I backed things up separately. Then I installed Transparent Texture Fix DLL. I launched SimCity 4 no problem. I backed that iteration up separately. Then I installed SimCity 4 Disable FPS Limits, launched SimCity 4 no problem. I backed that iteration up separately. Then I installed Region Thumbnail Fix DLL, launched SimCity 4 no problem. And I backed that up separately. Following that I installed the latest version of NAM49. I launched SimCity 4 no problem, I backed that iteration up separately. Finally, I installed Pegasus CDK3 Collection. I launched, had no problems, and backed that up as well separately. At this point I was disturbed that the game wasn't running in the 2560x1440 mode it used to, but, I thought I'd play a while, then make an entry here about it. So, I launched the game, set up a region, then tried to go into the game. The game when through it's normal launch up sequence with the region highlighted and the randomized words appearing at the top. It seemed though to be taking a longer than usual time. Then it crashed to desktop again. I tried it just using the Timbuktu region, but the same thing happened again. Something has gone awry, and I'm not finding any information as to what that could be from general research. Believe me, I am looking. I figure it's either something boneheaded I did, or something has changed and is affecting my sort of setup. To be sure, I have tried over and over and over after blowing everything away, even doing registry cleaning after that. Nothing I do is fixing this problem. I have tried installing things in different order (save the 4GB patch which must always go first), yet nothing changes. I would appreciate any advice from those who might be aware of a workaround, or are aware what the issue is, and to let me know people are working on the problem. Any help you could give would be most appreciated.

[Solved] A discovery in SC4fix.dll (Prevents borderless windows)
TheMurderousCricket posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I would like to share a very interesting finding that I made when trying to combat a display-related problem I had. Trying to run a 32-bit color depth on my machine, I have realized that I was only able to do so when running the game in a windowed or borderless mode. However, another problem was that the "borderless" mode was not really borderless... I was stuck with a partially visible window border. Good enough for some but not when you attempt to make a screenshot... Today, defeated, I have retreated to my other computer which did not have that problem. I took a pendrive with my "Plugins" folder, like I usually do, and copied them onto this second machine to keep my game consistent... I ran the game in a borderless mode... And yet again, it wasn't fully borderless!! This has lead me to an obvious conclusion that there has to be something in my "Plugins" folder that causes this behavior. Taking away mod and plugin at a time, reruning the game each step, I have finally found the culprit... It was the SC4fix.dll. Every time I take this file out of my "Plugins" folder, I can run a true borderless window of my game. As soon as SC4fix lands back in, the problem returns. I don't know the practical explanation of it... Could it be that it's because SC4fix comes with a custom window name and it somehow forces the game to display it at any cost? This is a very interesting and peculiar problem. I'm not sure if it is of any help to other people but I'd like to ask Simtropolites if they are able to either reproduce the problem or offer a fix to SC4fix. Please forgive me for putting you on the spot @simmaster07 but since SC4fix is your child, I would like to kindly and respectfully ask if you are possibly able to narrow down what might cause such a display glitch. Thank you!- 5 Replies

Installing SC4 on Linux with STEAM linux runtime
Rady posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Hi all, it's been a long while that I played SC4 the last time, and it ended because of the prop pox problem. Meanwhile, I changed my system to be running on Linux, and currently am trying to get my fav games running under Limux (Ubuntu in that case). So now I stumbled across this SC4Fix, but I wonder if that fix works with the Steam install under Linux? I'm running SC4 directlx from STEAM using the "proton" support. Thanks -
Clevedon Valley - Revisited
Craig-Abcvs posted a City Journal entry in Auckland & Greater Region - II
Clevedon Valley - Revisited I'm back! Hey it's only been 4 years, and here is my old CJ, still here and ready for me to carry on where I left off! Clevedon Valley was one of my more important tiles, one like many of us, that I had put hours of work into, built a replica of the Raurimu Rail Spiral, and yeah - put - hours - and hours - of work into. To cut a long story short, a few years ago it got prop pox. At the time I quietly deleted the tile, and re-imported a non poxed tile from a back up. However I was then very cautious about developing it further, especially with any prop heavy lots like SPAM - those seasonal crops use a lot of props. Eventually I stopped developing it further as I did not want to risk going over the 6 mb limit on the save file. Time passed, and I stopped playing SC4 for a few years, but as you can see the last few weeks I have started playing again, (digital download version of SC4), reloaded by plugins and regions from a external hard drive back up, and wandered back here to ST. Then I found out that prop pox had been cured. Wow. With the fix installed I now feel confident to revisit some of my favourite tiles, and continue developing them without the worry that they will tip over the edge and get the pox. First things first though you need to open the tile and... Yeah get over it Fairbanks... I play rural. Spread out. Low density. You can take your medium and high density and... [insert PG13 appropriate burn]. Anyhoo.. yup, large tile, lots of SPAM farms, with their prop heavy crops. Note the large areas of pines, yes I like my pines, but they are flora, and apparently the game engine treats flora differently in the prop count thingy whatever - yeah I don't really understand it, but I'm just trying to sound intelligent. (Rail spiral top right corner, see here or more on that). Anyway, fast forward a RL few years, a couple of computer deaths, but an external hard drive back up later... (don't worry I fixed the power problem over on the left) Yup, I still have a rather nice space left in this tile to develop further.- 23 Comments

My apologies if this has been covered - I've searched extensively and can't find the answer and would like some help, please. All of the trees and MMPs have disappeared from my latest city. I gather this is a result of "prop pox." So I read each of the following carefully: https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/74667-revisiting-prop-pox-and-prop-theory/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/32047-sc4macinjector-a-dynamic-code-plugin-loader-for-mac/ https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30883-sc4fix-third-party-patches-for-sc4/ https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/70495-game-framework-compatible-dll-loading-and-other-modding-discoveries/ I downloaded the sc4macinjector and ran it. All seems unchanged - no harm done. (I backed up plugins and regions just in case.) I downloaded sc4fix - which seems to be doing wonders for our Windows friends - YAY!!! It is a .dll file. I have no clue what to do with it. My VERY basic computer knowledge is that .dll files can't run on Mac. Regarding the sc4macinjector it says the following on its page: "What does this do SC4MacInjector allows the Mac equivalent of .dll mods to be loaded on Aspyr's port of SimCity 4 for Intel Macs. Note: you will not be able to use Windows .dll mods directly. They need to be targeted specifically for Macs as .so files." OK. I comprehend those words, but haven't a clue as to what that means in action - or if there is something I can do to target a .dll file as an .so file. <insert very confused llama, perhaps > 1. Do I actually have prop pox? Have I made the correct assumption that the pox caused my MMPs and props on small residentials to disappear? 2. Can someone guide on what, if anything, there is to be done about it? I feel clueless and in way over my head from a technological standpoint. Like... I understand technology better than your 90 year old grandma who just made you those amazing cookies*, but ... sometimes... not much. *A hypothetical grandma. Now I want cookies.
