Models : William Relotting & Remodding : Towerdude I used these relooted Dong He nightmarket to recreate the Hong Kong Rootop housing districts in my CJ I was asked more than once were I got them in my CJ, so I though why not upload them Concerning his upload he said "Feel free to use them for lotting, as long my name is mentioned somewhere while publishing." Self-built settlements on the roofs of high-rise buildings have been an integral part of Hong Kong's history for over half a century. Rooftop structures range from basic shelters for the disadvantaged to intricate multi-storey constructions equipped with the amenities of modern life. The lots are found in the parks menu, and cost 30§ to build dependencies : Dong He nightmarket https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/20134-dong-he-night-market/ BSC Textures vol-1 https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=90 Enjoy !
  3. Haito Peninsula

A certain melancholia of bygone times.. _________________________ HAITO PENINSULA The City and Time _____ Haito Peninusla lies south of Oishi Island, the Tokai and Kyuko subway lines stop there _____ As with all cities of East Asia, Oka City, and Haito Peninsula have also been part of planned cities in the 90's to rebuild the city and house poorer people in new flats _____ Each flat is unique, with the furnishings of peoples lives, a jacket, the cup from a birthday a few years ago, holiday pictures from friends in Southern Oka _____ But from outside it's all the same _____ In the bustling streets of one of Asia's most diverse cities, taking a wrong turn is sometimes a blessing _____ The Kaima market is a small local market of the Kaima district a few minutes away from Haito is a deja vu of Oka in the 80's _____ The streets are calm and sleepy on a Sunday morning when the stalls open, for the residents of the massive estates, here is the place to go, where they'll remember going shopping with their parents in the rural village where they grew up.. Such is the reality of the Asian capitalistic city, where what is left of the past is a true wonder.
  4. Aohi Village

AOHI VILLAGE If clothes spoke _____ Far from the city down south, in the jungles you'll find Aohi village _____ Aohi is said to be the birthplace of the Okataian National dress, the Shinpo featuring the national colours, gold and blue, the dress also features red, the royal colour. Lynda our tourguide has agreed to pose wearing it _____ Aohi village has a rather discreet architecture on the contrary to it's textile heritage _____ Okataian textiles developed under the influence of fabrics from Southeast Asia, China and mainland Japan. The rich variety and technique of Okataian textiles are beyond compare, even surpassing those of Japan and Teiko _____ You can still make yourself a dress here, Aohi was the village where the Imperial family got their cloths for ceremonial dresses _____ Oka is blessed with a variety of subtropical plants that can be used to dye textiles. Turmeric produces yellow pigment, and Japanese bayberry results in brown. And several different kinds of plant pigments are mixed to achieve a wide color range _____ The vilage is an Okataian Heritage site, and is looking to apply to AINESCO _____ It is the epitome of dyed Okataian work, is identified by its beautiful array of radiant colors, including vermilion, purple, indigo, yellow and green. It was used for royal attire and also for clothes worn by court entertainers. It is an important craft representing the Okataian culture. The dress became this symbol especially after Japan annexed Oka in 1926 and banned it, the jungle revolts began against the japanese in 1936. Men and women armed with only a gun wearing these clothes with pride would start a jungle guerilla until the iberation of Oka in 1946..

  8. Made 4x10 lots that are growth stage 1, commercial and residential but they just won't grow... anyone have a hunch why ? *:???:

    1. CorinaMarie

      CorinaMarie

Let's consider one of the residentials (since I've successfully made a 4x4 lot that grows as R$ at stage 1). Then this is me mostly guessing. :O

      • In property 0x27812833 (Purpose) do you have 0x01?
      • In property 0x27812834 (Capacity Satisfied) do you have a pair of entries? The first will be 0x00001010 if R$, 0x00001020 if R$$, or 0x00001030 if R$$$. Then the second value of the pair of entries is the number of Sims that could live there like 0x00000014 for 20.
      • In property 0x8CB3511F (Occupant Types) do you have 0x00001010 if R$, 0x00001020 if R$$, or 0x00001030 if R$$$? (Which needs to correspond to what you have in the first rep of Capacity Satisfied.)
      • In property 0xAA1DD396 (OccupantGroups) it needs a minimum of 3 values. (See Occupant Groups and Occupant Types over on Devotion.) For mine, I've set them as 0x00001000,0x00002000,0x00011010 which means it's 1.) Building:Residential, 2.) Style: Chicago, 3.) Building: R$. Then if limiting it to a single Style like I did, be sure in your game you have the appropriate style (or all styles) enabled. (You can assign it to grow in all 4 styles in reps 2 thru 5 bumping the last entry to rep 6.) If you do limit the lot to one style, but have all enabled in the game it takes a minimum of one game year per style for it to cycle thru them all even if using Build All at Once so allow up to 4 years if set that way.
      • For property 0xC8ED2D84 (Water Consumed) set that to 0x00000001 or make sure you have water to the entire 4x10 zone in the game. Also, when testing in the game you may find it best to use Ctrl+Drag to zone the block. Edit: Actually this one is prolly a moot point as the Growth Stage 0x01 set in the Lot Exemplar should prevent it from needing water, but will use it if it is present in the game. (The Ctrl+Drag is still a good way to go.)

And if you'd like to send me one of them via PM, I could take a look and see if there's anything I can figure out. *;)

My Asian city block growable project! I'm very happy with the results, it's very quick and efficient for asian cities! Trying to keep dependencies to a strict minimum with simple lots. I'm also working on a varity of other lot's for estates and growable instances with mainly SOMY and Danchi dependencies, hope to share soon ! Soooorrry for the picture quality, I don't know why illustrator exported it so bad _____________________________________

Thanks ulisee for commenting here Thank you very much! I'm happy you enjoyed the immersive side I tried to capture Thanks carl You're right Dryan it can be controversial at times, but it keeps the city alive and evolving You wish JM Thanks! I use to have lot's of Japanese houses, but settled on these ones that look older and somewhat unique
  18. Haito City

A great track from a Korean insturmental artist _________________________ HAITO CITY The plight of gentrification _____ Ah, there you are, welcome to "More than Less" a small café in an abandonned animal slaughterhouse. The owners Miko and Kaiba were keen to keep the buildings identity alive and do a very partial renovation _____ Haito is nothing special, it doesn't have a skyline a part from a few towers, most buildings are old and have only been partially renovated _____ But it is somewhat of an unlikely attraction for instagramers, tourists and bloggers alike _____ Many artisans, independant artists or small thrift stores populate the district _____ Far away from the glass towers of the center, Haito might be one the best places to go to feel an unspoken side of Oka's history? _____ But by looking at the people who live here, it seems Haito is prone to a phenomenon we call gentrification _____ The Main avenue is changing _____ Inside the buildings, new workspaces are being designed, "coworking", startups, hubs etc.. all that's associated to gentrification _____ Take this building, the Saiza building became a "working hub" but kept it's old identity by keeping the signs _____ But for how long ? The Haito Peninsula project is now open, and is proof international investments are interested in this part of the city.. I loved walking around in Haito, it's fresh and alternative, but the world catches up on these oasis', such is the truth of the asian capitalist city, where the place you grew up will not exist anymore soon.

  21. How to make a Japanese city

At a glance Japanese cities seem to mix both organic and pragmatic city design, Kyoto and Tokyo are very different, the key might be to decipher it's core structure before even considering Assets or mods. ..sorry if it's a long text To me there seems to be two phases with contrasting concepts Originally as most Japanese culture had been imported from China and Korea the city plans followed the Chinese quadrangular design, breaking the rules once you left the walled city. This seems to have remained true until the Empire and the war. The second phase is much harder, but extremely interesting Japan post World War II was a time of lost cultural identity. The strength and certainty of the Japanese culture and citizens during the war was now in ruins, as were the cities and towns ravaged by fighting and the atomic bomb. Leading to the question many citizens were asking, ‘what is it to be Japanese?’. The most evident and massive changes in the Japanese urban system and townscape occurred in the period between 1955, which saw the official end of the postwar phase of reconstruction of the social and economic fabrics, and the early 1960s. This was the period which has been generally known as the "Japanese Economic Miracle" or "Great Economic Growth", with an average national GDP of 9% per year for the entire decade until the early 1970s. However, even though the main outcome of economic advancement resulted in the development of modern infrastructures, an improvement of living standard, better alimentation and a general increase in the national wealth and technological progress, new serious problems arose as direct consequences of that fast growth, posing a severe threat to the social life of the citizens of the Japanese metropolises. A lack of governmental pollution standards and urban regulations, what made the levels of pollution more acute and dangerous to the health of citizens, was the presence of a high concentration of factories and industrial plants in urban areas, with the high density of population placed in the big industrial cities, caused both by the rapid urbanization of the previous years driven by economic growth, and by the fact that in Japan the industrial complexes tended to be located in small geographic areas as integrated clusters of interrelated industries close to each other and to the worker's residential areas (kombinatos). Furthermore, the pace of accelerated urban growth and the fast urbanization of large rural lands generated a massive extension of disordered areas and uncontrolled urban sprawls on the outskirts of all the industrial cities. This caused two main problems: the chronic shortage of many public services and facilities faced by the growing number of their residents (such as the lack of parks and libraries, inadequate roads, sewers and water supply systems), and the awareness that the inefficient land use in the vast extensions of congested and undeveloped/unplanned urban areas created serious obstacles for any attempt at further improvement and urbanization according to rational plans, because of the higher costs to be paid for the construction of the infrastructures and lack of space for effective improvement works. The consequences of this tremendous mix of ineffective building standard laws, inconsistent city planning and political unwillingness, caused the fast, chaotic and largely unplanned development of vast low quality urban areas in the main industrial districts of Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, creating a set of specific and less specific issues concerned with expansion of the urban model of an industrial metropolis, which called for a response equally rapid and effective. The Japanese city is still a project we are waiting to see finish, and the same goes for Korean and Chinese cities.. So how do you that in a video game ? I believe it would be to simulate this scenario on your city : -First making sure you understand how the real cities developed : I usually make a diagram of how they work (what are Tokyo's focal points? how are they connected? why are they like that?) -Then designing your city scenario on paper, to then build in game, this way your city will have an authentic Japanese structure and finally getting the assets, mods etc.. will make it look the part! It's a bit of an intellectual response.. but I sure hope it helps!
  22. Show us What you're Working On

You're right that 6x6 is interesting,The reasoning behind 4x8 lots are in terms of making Asian cities, 4x8 is an unique size that goes well with most W2W's out there and I can control well where this specific lot grows. I didn't not think about latin american cities, but you're totally right it could work well in them! I'll certainly think about that
  23. Show us What you're Working On

Lotting large 4x8 lots with Japanese and Chinese W2W's to make quick and efficient Asian cities I hope to maybe release it on the STEX once I'm done!
  24. Making large 4x8 lots with existing Tokyo Bat's to easily grow dense japanese cities :) hope to share soon !
