Moving to old CJ section
Today or late last night, someone rated the last entry 1/5 stars. The same thing happened a few times in my other CJ, Cambridge, and it also happened to Escilnavia. It is really annoying me that a troll just goes through and blindly rates badly. The next update will be in the old CJ section. - 4

It Begins
Dia daoibh a chairde, agus fáilte go an cathair Bhaile Straith iris. Or, hello everyone, and welcome to the Ballystray city journal. I'm starting and journalling this city from stratch - to give you all an idea of how I throw towns and cities together, and because it seems like jolly good fun! The terrain used is the rather marvellous NHP Londonderry Northern Ireland map, which has Derry and a lot of the surrounding area ready for development. My reason for this city is to have a crack at producing a Belfast style transport network, although no doubt I'll have far more train lines abouts. To start with, I am going to lay out the transport networks from what will be the most important settlement in the area - Ballystray. Geography comes first in such matters - I'm certainly not going to drive the roads about willy nilly. Generally, roads will follow the contours and avoid the really hilly parts. River crossings make excellent points to start a settlement. To make this one extra awesome, here's one based on London's tower bridge. After drawing some roads - we have this: Next - Rail lines. Often this for me involves a hop out into the regional view so that I can plan the destinations that these lines will serve. Now - Rail is quite a disruptive network in my opinion - if it wants to look good it takes quite a bit of planning and a lot of space at times. The same is true for RHW. As I plan to have a mostly-bypass in this city, mirroring the M1, M2, M3 and A12 in Belfast, I decided that I should place down the most potentially disruptive part of the network (the interchange between them all) down first. I can see this interchange handling a lot of traffic, and deliberately so as I wish to tie in local roads here as well as free flowing between all of the main roads. I had to rebuild some of my rail lines, as they were in the way of my planned southwards RHW. Although I did bash this rather cool looking flying junction together because of it: And here's the junction so far: And lastly - after much faffing about - here's the progress so far- Read More

Santa Leon - coming back soon.
Well, I went on a trip to Peru over my thanksgiving break and got a whole lot of inspiration. For that reason I'm going to revive my good ol' South American region. This time it's different. I'm thinking of changing some things, like for example changing the name of the nation to something like "Guaracay", since I feel like doing something new instead of "Mesias." But anyways, here's some teasers. Here's a couple pictures from my trip! - 64

The Region of Carnfornthern - Some scenes
Carnfornthern Region One of the most rural and scattered regions in Queentain, this region has only two sources of revenue; Farming and Logging. (Above Image: The M02 cuts right along the edge of the region. To the right is A909, now a ageing winding mountain road in need of repairs.) __________________________________________ Above: Calf House is located at the junction between the A909 (going across) and the A112. The A101 was one of the first "A" class roads to be built. It winds through a valley and up a hill and onto the next region. It's in need of repair, plus plans to reroute some sections (particularly the winding mountain sections) are being thought up in the capitol. Above: Here is the start of the climb up to the top of Pleasant Hill on the A101, As you can see, there plenty of unguarded edges and not street lights...so you'd better have a car in a good state to drive along this road. Anyway, as you can see, this road is rarely used, but reports of increased traffic along the A101 over the years is coming in. Above: The dangerous winding road that goes to a new logging area. This road is very dangerous. Above (both): The scenes of growth...or perhaps devastation. Logging in this part of Queentain is a brand new source of income, however recent protest by the environmentalist group, Bluepeace, has led to the government dissucssing on tightening laws and restricting the zones for logging. _______________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for reading/viewing! I hope you enjoyed a small insight into the rural region of Carnfornthern. Next, up we shall follow the route of the A909 or the M02 down south into a town that prides itself in its renewable energy power sources! Don't forget to comment & rate, thanks epically to those that do! Thanks, Tintinfan. - 2

A City Reborn - Housatonic
@Houston_Fan : Good call - I've been playing with one, trying to get it to work. I guess that means it's time to organize the old Plug-Ins folder! @evanm1487 : ...I...um...meant to do that? Seriously, though, thanks - that's something I just flat out forgot I could do! Unfortunately, due to computers hating me, this batch of pictures lacks those mods - my plug-in folder is getting outrageous, so they're on hold until I get it under control. And of course, thanks for everyone who took the time to view! And now for something completely different...the river city of Housatonic! The city of Housatonic was founded as a lumber town, taking advantage of the rich forests - so much so, in fact, that the entire area was completely deforested twice in its history. As a result of the second deforestation, the lumber industry moved on, and was replaced with textiles, bringing the city to its present-day size as thousands of people, mostly immigrant women and children, were employed by the textiles mills that lined the river. This too fizzled and died, and by 1930 the city was decaying. Then came the Storm of '44. The River Housatonic burst its banks, exceeding flood stage by seventeen feet, inundating the banks and most of the south side. Thorvaldsson University, lying on an island in the river, was submerged, with students partying on rooftops until they were rescued - a term they disputed. This image was taken from a newsreel made a day later: All bridges were washed out in the city, with the south side particularly hard hit: The new sewage treatment plant, as well as the old mill district, was submerged, completely lost, as seen in this recently released aerial photo: Nearly a hundred people died, and many more were made homeless. But out of the devastation grew new impetus. The flood destroyed most of the industrial and commercial districts that had gone bust, and as buildings were gutted or torn down, entrepreneurs set up shop. A far-sighted view of city planning saw the city bloom. Mansions went up on Stony Hill, overlooking the city: While new industries opened shop along the "Tech Banks" Today, a rejuvenated city teems with energy and security - despite the occasional mishap and ne'er do well, as Officer Brennan demonstrates: And finally, a shot of the city at night, showing the enormous strides made since the flood: Hope you all enjoy, and thanks for viewing! Sometime this weekend we'll take a paddle downriver and explore the Huntington Metropolitan Area. - 3

Goa : discover Longley !
Welcome again in Goa ! Starting this entry i'd like to thanks all of those who commented last entry and even those who just watched. Today i ll make you discover the first island from Goa' s archipelago where Western men landed their ship : Longley ( here on the first ground on the image above ). In 1512, Oliveiro Da Silva Perreira y Bastos, Royal Navy admiral of Manuel The 1st, king of Portugal and nepheu of John II, was the first "white man" to discover the archipelago ; he landed his 2 ships on longley' s west coast . The Oliveira's Dome wears his name to praise his memory and is supposed to be built exactly where the adventurer put the Royal "Blood and Emerald royal flag". This building was the fisrt portuguese administration of the island, and just before Nederland invasion it was it 's diplomacy head quarter. Now the Dome is the national culture and history museum. The only landmark of the poorest and the less unhabited island of the archipelago. Hopefully, many business offices are attracted by that quiet island, also the Nationl Seaport Company has surprisingly established it's head quarter on this island. (tallest red and white building, between the Dome and the Seaport) The market place is right in the town's center just next to the port and surrounded by the 1 way driving road making a circle around the whole island. On the previous pic you can see the ground drawn arrows that tells the way cars should drive. On the eastern coast of Longley's Island, this 2 one way driving roads finish by the gemely Igor and Griska Bogdanov Bridge, leading to Membata. Longley is called "the green one" because of it s huge natural parc disallowing any construction on the island since 1994.The local fauna and flora is unique, some wild animals could only be find here as the Catrilla and the Foxy Cardinal This part is where citizens live , here we can find a small school, an infirmary and a little police station (pics shown in this order just next) just ensure local population eventhough it s always quiet there. To finish this entry, a picture i took as i made a trek in the natural parc, showing Goa's island and then in the background Sumba . Thanks a lot for visiting Goa, i hope to see you soon on Doc's World, don't hesitate to comment and rate, stay tunned for more details about Longley and other wonders in Goa ! - 7

The End - Baychester City: South Slopes Part 2
This is the final update for the city journal. I hope you all have enjoyed my humble city. This relates to the downtown area of the South Slopes borough of Baychester. Last update, you all saw some of the area, especially the historic downtown, but this update has the rest. We start with the historic Baychester Inquirer Building. This is the building on the left with the two antennas. The newspaper still has its main offices here, and it is the largest and oldest paper in the entire city. On the right of the shot, the angled building is the police force's main headquarters for the borough. Moving around the city core, we hit a northern portion of the borough. This area is the only part of town with any high-rise condominium buildings, and they surround the little Davidson Park. As one heads south of Davidson Park, they hit Downtown North. This is still largely historic, much like the waterfront area of the last update, but here, developers are much less hesitant to rebuild. Modern buildings have sprung up in the last building boom, and more are in their planning phases. The city center/ urban core of the borough is located farther south. It borders the river, and it houses the densest development. Here is an overview of the downtown area from the riverfront. The Toyota Center is the main multipurpose arena for the city, and it is home to Baychester's NBA franchise, the Baychester Bombers. This franchise has been in existence from 1972, and its history has been a successful one, with 3 championships, the most recent being in 2001. And finally, the Downtown area again, this time the picture is taken from the oceanfront. The Throggs Narrows Bridge can be seen here as well. This has been Baychester. I hope you all have enjoyed what I have brought to Simtropolis, I have enjoyed sharing it. Credit goes out to where it is due, I can't go out and name off everyone whose content I used, but I still give out a hearty thank you to all of you.- Read More

Long Beach
Currently finding it challenging to capture thelook and atmosphere of LA. I think this is party because SC4 and the majority of user created stuff is geared toward creating North American and Euro style cities, also im from Liverpool, UK so I’m certainly not used to the Subtropical-Mediterranean climate of LA. This is the main reason i started the city in the middle-class area of Long Beach, it lacks the mega-highways, smog covered industrial areas, expancive ports and landmarks of the downtown peak etc. All of which i am burning to get started on, but I think that if i can capture the feeling of LA in this reletivly plain area then the areas to come will look even better! Any advice would be appretiated as to how i could make this feel more like LA thanks. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us -

The end of an era...
Well, how do I put this? As several of my cities are built over the tutorials in Timbuktu (think both Simfords, Norock, Midlow and Greater Timbuktu), they were always going to be prone to bugs or glitches... Unfortunately, that happened today. The tutorials were reset unintentionally, and I have not been able to recover the lost cities. I do back up my computer, but I haven't done so for a while. Since a lot has changed since that vital copy was made, and I have been feeling like jumping to something better, I will not be continuing with the Timbuktu region, and so this journal ends... But not yet! Over the coming time, I will consolidate what photos I have taken, and so the Region Diary will be finished properly. I will transfer my attentions to my new region, New Francisco, which focuses on the story of the San Francisco region in California after it is mysteriously wiped clean. This is another default SimCity region, but I hope this announcement has grabbed your attention! And for the few readers who have shown an interest and taken their time to read the Timbuktu Region Diary... Thank you. I hope that you will continue to follow my projects in the future. Update: I have been thinking a lot more about this recently, and unfortunately, I have reversed my previous decision, so I will not be continuing with a new CJ. This is due partially to an increase in the amount of schoolwork/homework and so on, and probably just my sheer lack of motivation to continue... Furthermore, I would like to spend what spare time i have working on a number of SimCity mods and buildings, so I hope you will understand. Thanks.- Read More

Update 12: Hampshire
Replies: TowerDude: Thanks! MamaLuigi945: Those pics?! No way, I did not draw those. But I agree with you about the development. Mikeaut1: Thank you! Schulmanator: Thanks! Where was the pic taken? keder: Thanks! Simoleman: Thanks, I always love to hear opinions. Bugs Bunny: Green~Development Sadly the green is running out. Zulu2065: Thanks! The town is trying to add more parks to balance out the development. jakeroot: Haha, great opinion! --- Bwow123: Thank you. 10000000000000: Thanks for helping! Also: Thank you to everyone who voted on the last update! The rating is now up to 5! Together we stand united against trolls! This update is about the small town of Hampshire. The population last year was 277, and is estimated to be at 400 by the end of next year. It is located on Fox Island, across the river from Bartlett. Much of the town is covered in forests or farmland. Can you believe this same highway goes through Cambridge? This is the river that divides Hampshire and Unincorporated Cambridge County. These are two model homes being built in a new subdivision. The development will start in about 6 months. Last update, Fox Island Forest Preserve was mentioned. Much of it is near, or in Hampshire. It has some nice hiking trails and hills. Comment and rate! I'd love to hear what you think! - 17

Good Bye, Northern Pacifica
Well, I'm sorry to say this, but Northern Pacifica is over. I lost the map when I went without an OS on my PC for 3 weeks and wiped the hard drive. I guess I kind of wanted to end this anyway. I didn't get much response. Thanks for the people who did respond. Maybe some day, after I get SimCity 4 working on my Linux box (Or get Windows), I'll start a new CJ. Until then, say good bye to a CJ from me. ps2owner, signing out. - 5
