Harriot: A Prospering City
==REPLIES== MamaLuigi945: Thanks I'll be updating as much as I can. 10000000000000: Yeah, I was kinda vague there, I considered everything in my plugins folder a mod Welcome to Harriot, the first city I made in this region. It has a population of about 2,500, and has Highway 97 running through it. An overview of the city. The east side of town. There seems to always be some new construction there. The industrial/port area. The seaport is located at the intersection of Main Street (Running vertically) and Coastal Parkway (Running horizontally). As you can see, the port area isn't that busy midday, but don't be fooled. It gets congested in the evening. Highway 96 (and its newly-added HOV lane) running through West Harriot, with its brand new apartments. Also notice the street underpass going under the highway. The far western edge of Harriot. Coastal Parkway runs all over the place here where it intersects with Highway 96. Also notice Cemetery Drive winding through the foothills of Harriot Summit. A closeup at the mansions at Harriot Summit. Nice view, huh? ...And lastly, a nighttime overview of the town. So, any mod suggestions? I'm open to any suggestions. Also, I can put up the city for download if anyone wants it. -

1-Prekov Bridge: A teaser of an upcoming CJ!
Vladivostok? Yes. Vladivostok. You mean the city in Russia? I doubt it looks like that! I know. That's why it ain't in Russia. It's in my fictive country: SYLDAVIA! Vladivostok is the capital of the Federal Republic of Syldavia. Prekov Bridge? Yup. What does it means? It was named after the first President of the second Republic of Syldavia, Olex Prekov. -

A little background and sneak peek.
SMALL BACKGROUND: The Nation of Maquz was once a peaceful and democratic (USA annexed) nation. One day, the nation started becoming corrupt. Finally, the people had enough. A communist part overthrew the democratic party and took power. There is one part of the nation that is still democratic, but cannot fight against the communist party as it is on a remote island behind a mountain, basically cutting communication off, but now, the small island has an airport(pictures of that coming soon), sadly, the tiny democratic portion is too weak to launch an attack to overthrow the communist government and are afraid that they will be taken over by communism. SNEAK PEAK: Maquz Square Launch pads at Maquz Space Center (FORMERLY PROPERTY OF MAQUZ DEMOCRATIC PARTY / NASA, NOW PROPERTY OF MAQUZ COMMUNIST PARTY) -

Empire City Part 2: The Districts
Welcome back to Empire City. This is the city a businessman dreams about or stays up at night of... And enjoy you stay in one of these districts : Central Empire Upper Central Empire Lower Central Empire Milberry Landing New Meadowburgh Montwich This is al you have to know about the districts: Empire Central This is the Centre of the city with the World Trade Center which made the skyline famous all over the world. The lively 1st Avenue is where the world famous Clevegrove roundabout/square is. They say you can't even see anything because of all the skysrapers, people and cars. Upper and Lower Central Empire These two districts are the lungs and kidneys of the city. They are very important but less important then the Central Empire district. Because in the Upper area you have the stock exchange and in the Lower area the MSA HQ stands. The Ministery of Security Agency , which is the country's security agency. Milberry Landing The business people all come back here after a day of work in the country's capitol. Is there more than "sweet home sweet" to say? Montwich This is the city's failed new financial district I guess they had enough with the Upper, Lower and Central Empire districts? But finnally they are buidling bit by bit. New Meadowburgh And at last the New Meadowburgh project. What I can say about this is: the city developers have lost there mind! They're building houses for people in industrial area's! But that's what you get, nobody wants these industrial areas anymore. The financial areas rule the city that's why nobody wants those dirty industrial areas anymore. I Hope you liked it and if you do please comment or +1 More to come later- Read More

Eruption Shakes Volcano City
Volcano City has been the center of new development, and it is getting bigger and bigger! The first highway is already under construction, which will soon be Volcano City's connection to the outside world: And more development continues down main road, Volcano City is thriving! But, one day, something would bring this thriving city to a grinding halt. It was a beautiful Thursday afternoon, and Peter has just got home from school. As he went to the kitchen to get a snack, the whole room shook, literally throwing both him and his mom on the ground. Mom: "I bought you some snacks, Do you want chips, or cookies?" Peter: "I'll have chips" (Walks into kitchen) (low rumpling sound) Mom: Do you hear something? Peter: Yeah, it sounds like- (Big explosion, room shakes violently) Whoa! (Censored)!! They scramble to get back up and run outside, and see everybody on the sidewalk looking at the mountains behind them. Mom and Peter turn around and are shocked at what they see. A plume of smoke is seen rising out of the Volcano. The whole city stops. They just stop and look at the plume of smoke and ash rising from the volcano. Soccer field: Coach: (blows whistle really loudly) everybody out of the field! (people panic) All everybody can do is watch in awe as the ash gets bigger and bigger, and then another very loud bang is heard from the volcano, shaking the ground. Everybody immediately goes from staring in awe at the volcano, to running around in a frenzy screaming. No one was expecting an eruption from that volcano, so they didn't know what to do. The major ran downhill from his house, and screamed to everyone there: "Everybody into the church!" About 400 people ran into church, many others ran out into the farm fields. An ordinary afternoon turned into chaos, by the first recorded eruption. 5 PM, ash is now raining down volcano city; the beautiful, blue skies are now dark, choked with throat-clogging, ash. The ash rains down from the skies, making breathing difficult for anyone in Volcano City. Peter, his friends, and his parents are at the church, praying that they survive the eruption. Luckily, the lava is too far away to affect the city, but not the volcanic blocks that rain down from the sky. The citizens can only watch as houses nearby along with stores get smashed by car-sized blocks, and pray that none of them hits them. They could die any minute and they know it. 8:00 PM Fires rage throughout the town, burning houses everywhere. The fire brigade work around the clock to put out the fires, with their new water hoses (no more buckets). The only concern now was the pyroclastic flow, but thankfully, the flow happened on the other side of the mountain, sparing Volcano City. Fires were put out, and hundreds of people came out of the church and ran back to their houses to put out their own fires. Peter's house hasn't caught on fire, nor has it been hit by a block. Other than some damage from the earthquake, they were okay. Some weren't as fortunate, as they ran to find heaps of burnt wood that used to be their houses. 7 AM (Next Day) A beautiful morning dawns over Volcano City, but there was no school, and a lot of people went to the medical community center. The citizens are everywhere cleaning up the streets, and cleaning up the mess. This eruption was a 4 on the explosive volcano scale. - 5

New Connections
新发展中Xin fazhan zhong In the Midst Of New Developments Welcome back to Hangzhou! Luckily for us, the town got some funding from the government, allowing it to make a spur train track into town. Now, admittedly, this is still a bit of a hike from Meijiawu, but that's OK. Zhejiang province has begun a rural highway in Meijiawu, to connect to Hangzhou proper. The new road: Uploaded with ImageShack.us A bit bigger tea village: Uploaded with ImageShack.us "New" Meijiawu has also been established, allowing the town to grow on land a bit less useful for the tea industry. After all, no reason to waste the good farmland, right? Uploaded with ImageShack.us ------------------------------ In Hangzhou, town's grown a bit, and look at that! A brand spanking new Zhongguo Tielu freight station! The farmers here and in Meijiawu send the tea through here, --but not too far... Uploaded with ImageShack.us ------------------------ Here is the junction where our spur meets the mainline. As you can see, there's a bit of tea processing done here, as well as a bit of housing for the workers. Of course, as one could guess from the unfinished town square, this little village won't be little for long. For now, though, it's just barely been named, and rather unpoetically, as Sanjiaocun, "Triangle Village". ....a bit obvious, that. --------------------------------------- Well! That's all for now, everyone! I'll be waiting for your votes on which of the three to focus on for next update, so don't forget to leave your input in the poll! -

11 | Flashback 1941
IN the year of our lord, 1941, when the war broke out. Delaware in 1941 was the worst year to remember, let alone the cilivians who suffered far worst than the soliders. For 88 consuctive days between July to September 1941, Nazi Germany dropped over 4,380 small bombs around the city of Delaware during the scary night time. During the bombing era in 1941, Delaware was pretty much torn apart, even with another existing political problems - Communism and Democratic governments. Government of New Albana (now called Federal Government of New Albana) was out of control, because of all of the existing problems within Delaware and other cities in New Albana. The air quality in the No Man's Land (Chelsea today) was horrid, with gaseous air and nitrogen being released into air from Communist to Democratic side of Delaware in order to take control of Democratic New Albana. South New Albana (South Delaware) have no moral support from other nations or cities because of its location, Delaware Airport is located in the Communist side, along with the major seaport and other inter-city infrastructures. In 1939, when the war began, South Delaware relied on the support of nearby farmlands to provide the food, and that farmland is located at present Delaware City National Park. The famous photo of South Delaware residents (democratic side) tucking in inside the Delaware Underground for their protection during the 88-Day-Boming in 1941. The sound of siren is activated every time when the Watch Tower spotted a German plane, warning all of the South Delaware residents to take cover. Delaware is only Democratic-control city in New Albana, while other cities within the country already took control by the Communists. The Communist Government of New Albana, which it is headed by a Russian, Flan Vanschjsvk, aimed to take control of Delaware City Centre because it was the only way to claim the victory for the Communists. The war took nearly ten harsh years, with almost no support from other democratic countries, Democratic New Albana kept fought and fought. December 1941 saw the beautiful city of Delaware cut in half, with Communist New Albana dictating the North and Democratic New Albana taking care of the South. During this moment, the Delaware Wall was erected to divide the city into two. Delaware City Centre (controlled by Democratic New Albana) is home to many government departments, especially the City Hall and it is very fortunate that it is located in the Democratic side, without it, Democratic New Albana would fall. Another famous photo, which it was taken at MacKontch Cross in 1942. MacKontch Cross now known as St. Mary's Axe (or just St. Mary's.) The peak of the War is pretty much in 1941, the war calmed down in 1942, until the tension increased dramatically a year after, in 1943 when the situations and cases worsened to a rock-bottom. Average civilians death count is 85 per day in Delaware, and the living quality in the city is very low, where everyone is shaking and 'about-to-die' in their hands of God. Communist New Albana kept invading Democratic side of the country, demanding to take control but failed every time; St. Ives Gate remained the sole centre of the War. St. Ives is a famous checkpoint between Communist side and Democratic side of New Albana during the War. Democratic New Albana finally recieved a support from British and U.S. Army in October 1943, four years after the war began, and fought against the Communist New Albana. The Communist army and Government retreated from the war immediately when U.S. naval vessels arrived at the Settlement Hill (now it is called Unley, at Old Delaware) and began to send 7,400 US troops and 358 heavy vehicles (tanks etc). British Army's naval vessels ports at West Bank (also at Unley) and began to deliver foods and supplies before Communist air vehicle begins to attack the new "seaport" at Settlement Hill (Unley). US Army fought and fought against the Communists, right at St. Ives Gate and the nearby dividing walls. For next 33 consuctive nights, the residents of Delaware suffered the loud noises of bombings and bullet firing, a tense war between two sides of one city. In November 14th, 1943 when the War began to settle down, and suddenly, there was a sunny day with no civilians death, people opened the doors to outside to a peaceful world.- Read More

Turn 20 - Ten Years In!
Hey everyone! As some of you might already know, I have started an ambitious project called The Dunya Project. If you are familiar with "The Towne", then you will get the general idea behind it. Basically, what happens is that each player that joins controls a character, making desicions each turn such as buying land, buying goods, opening companies, etc. It is a detailed and slightly complex game with lots of pictures and numbers! The game is forever evolving, and the country of Dunya is being shaped by the collaboration of you, the characters! I am hosting the project over at SC4D, but will post the updates here as well. Please head over to The Dunya Project forums, and join up as we are looking for more participants! The Dunya Project – Live the Game! Turn Twenty Population: 10,495 GDP: $53,944,300 ($5,140 per person annually) Labor Force: 4,723 Education Level: 0.1 out of 4 Celebrating ten years of independence, Dunya has now officially passed the ten thousand residents mark, achieving one of the primary goals of development King Edward Ezamsi had set for his government. There have been numerous developments the past year, with most of it based in the center of Rawa’a involving commercial activity. The Jawad Building, constructed by the Jawad family, sits on the former site of the Bank of Dunya, on the corner of Main and Edward Ezamsi Streets. The building contains some apartments on the upper floors, and 3 stores on the ground floor. Further down Main Street sits the McCormick Building, built by the McCormick family. Although the architecture is drastically different than the Jawad Building (given the owners’ European background), the premise is the same. They have rented a large showroom on the ground floor, and each floor above that has 4 apartments for rent. Finally, the Yassar Building, situated on the corner of First Street and Cross Lane, has officially taken the title of tallest building in Rawa’a, standing at 4 floors. It is also the costliest private development in the history of Dunya, costing the Yassar family $800,000 upon completion. Unlike the first 2 development mentioned, the Yassar Building is exclusively an office facility, with the ground floor used by the Yassar family for their new marketing company. The rest of the floors have 3 offices per floor. The other new developments have been the farmlands on Fairview Road, to the northwest of Rawa’a. The new farms owners include the Grover and Verdi families, both of which had sold farms closer to the town in order to take advantage of the government initiative that gives discounted land for agricultural development further out of town. As Rawa’a continues to develop, so does the demand for land closer to the center of the town. Land prices continue to rise, and the unofficial price now stands at $5,000 per plot, a far cry from the $1,000 per plot that a lot of land owners had bought their land at. The extra income generated by taxes and other income has allowed the government to finish up its Power Plant and make lots of headway on the new Rawa’a International Airport, which is becoming closer to finishing. The next few months should see the completion of both projects. Here is the Dunya Information sheet for Turn Twenty! The Dunya Information Sheet – Turn 20- Read More

Update Three: Marseille
Thanks again everyone for the kind replies! And if you didn't reply but you still enjoyed the update anyway this smiley is for you: News Welcome Back! So this update actually took quite a while because I had a lot of things on. I finally made some progress on my region, took some screenshots and had some free time this Saturday, so I was finally able to make an update. Anyway, apologies in advance for the lengthy time it took for this, I promise that if I'm busy I'll at least come up with a mini-update in the future. Just before we move on to Montpellier, here is something I did in my spare time. Turns out the neon "Toys R' Us" is missing dependencies. Update 3 Well quite a bit of Montpellier has been updated. First, I have started working on the farm to mountain transition near Montagnac. However, there is still much to do in terms of a fluid transition from mountains to farms. I also worked on border transitioning quite a bit, however, there is still alot of room for improvement. Second, a new city has arrived in Montpellier! The municipality of Marseille! This city is actually quite an old one which has kept much of its history and historical architecture up to date creating a fluid modern - historical city. Third, a new farm village "Blanche" has arrived in Montpellier, however, it is still quite bare (not to mention boring ) which is why its not showcased in this update. Future update perhaps? we'll see. Lastly, I have fired our national weather service members. (see 111222333444's reply...) Okay, enough rambling. On to the pictures! 3.1 "The River" - Welcome to Marseille! We will first start with a tour of the rural surrounding area. 3.2 - "Rural Suburbs" - Because of the limited amount of space and required farm production. Marseille's suburbs are very compact with the surrounding farm area with some houses bordering the farm area. 3.3 "Industry in Marseille" - The industry in Marseille takes care of hydro, power and garbage disposal for local citizens. As you can see in the far right corner, Marseille burns garbage for energy. Not to worry however, as the city filters the air as required by the "Montpellier Environment Act". 3.4 "Entering the Suburbs" - Here is a typical suburban neighbourhood in Marseille. Both close to down town and close to Marseille's rural areas. 3.5 "A closer look in Suburban Marseille" - Marseille spends quite a bit of money on recreational programs for its citizens. Because of this Marseille is the healthiest city in Montpellier. 3.6 "Football" - Montpellier's most popular sport! These fields are everywhere! 3.7 "Downtown Marseille" - Marseille is a historical city in Montpellier with a lot of interesting sites. Its fairly quiet today because its Sunday morning. 3.8 "Narrow Streets" - Some parts of Marseille are quite narrow. Typical European styling of a city layout. 3.9 "Le Grand Café" - This café is famous for its delicious pastries. Its a definite stop for a tourist visiting Marseille. 3.10 "The Boulevard" - Rue Bayard is a nice street with a lot of cafés and local restaurants. 3.11 "City train Station" - This area forms the city train station which connects Marseille to areas all over the Montpellier region. 3.12 "North Bayard" - The northern area of Rue Bayard features a metro connection and a small Liberal Arts College which is one of the most prestigous in the region. 3.13 "Marseille Library" - This is the main city library which actually grows its own coffee beans in the roof greenhouse for the café downstairs. 3.14 "L'ecole elementary" - An elementary school in the downtown area. Students can take the metro before and after school hours to anywhere in the city. 3.15 "Parc de Marseille" - Marseille's central park with its famous and iconic fountain in the middle. 3.16 "Marseille" - Our final picture, which consists of the entire view of the region. Well, thats everything for this update! More comming soon. Stay tuned next week when I fire more civil workers! Cheers! -Element. - 6
