Well, bad news: Sandboxville crashed when I tried to plop a mall from Portland (evil! ) so I started a new city... This is the last teaser, I promise! Work on the REAL Puget comes next! Stay tuned!
  1. Hello everyone. Unfortunately, there will NEVER be a new update for Grand River City. My computers hard drive has crashed and lost all the Sim City 4 files. My goal is to create a new city sometime in the following weeks. I would like to thank everyone who has supported my Grand River City Journal... all the comments people made really gave me momentum to keep updating this CJ and all the suggestions that were made such as the different water, tree, terrain mods really helped me grow as a Sim City urban planner. Thank you so much everyone!!
  2. My City: enjoy I did making it Industry Area Middle Class Suburbs Dense Middle Class Working Class Upper Class This side of downtown needs regeneration hence the cultural arch project Financial downtown Main downtown All Thanks for viewing all comments welcome

AAMI Stadium, the major stadium in Wyndard, and is home for Commonwealth Games 2004, and will be home for 2016 Summer Olympics. Rising Wyndard skyline, including the famous 434 Second Tower and The Gherkin. The vacant land directly south from the city, near the bridge will be developed as a waterfront apartment precinct. South Cross Station, the busiest bus station in the city, serving over 70 million passengers every year. The Station is located right in the middle of Wyndard City Centre, with a quick walk to Wyndard's tallest tower, the City Hall and many of the inner city metro stations. Spencer Street Station is a brand new bus terminal, which it was built in 1996 with a metro station next door. Spencer Street Station serves over 35 million passengers every year. The station is located at north-west fringes of the city centre. South Yarra, with its famous Little Grey Street and obviously, its famous double decker buses. Almost all of the old and historical buildings along Little Grey Street will be demolished and replaced with medium density highrises to relieve the population growth. Spencer Park, the famous park which it was built in 1896 and it is still a popular hotspot area for meeting up, or local cafes and night lifes surrounding the park. The north-western parts of the City Centre, and Spencer Street Station is visible in this map (north-west corner). You can see the Government House (which it is located at the top right corner.
  3. Thanks for Coming to this update. As always, the replies. Notice the new banner? Well, I haven't updated in a long time. Xaviertun deserves it though. Being the largest city, I'm being a bit more cautious about the look of the city. What I mean by that is I'm doing stuff like lotting my own houses for the suburbs and varied plazas for the city center. All in all, I get about 3% of the large map completed daily. That's mostly because of schoolwork. But enough chatter from me. Let's see some preview pics of the parts of the city I have completed already. Actually I've finished much more, but I'm still adding to everything. I have no idea when I'll update the entire city. But for now, that's my problem, not yours, enjoy! I should have the next update up soon. For now, I hope you've enjoyed. It's always a pleasure to be part of the ST community. Comments are appreciated. Thank you.

First of all I was looking around and seemed to notice that ive never seen anyone build Toronto before so obviously fits in perfect in my Canada territory. Even though its not the capital of the Canadian territory, Toronto is the biggest city and most populated in Canada. As it also is in my region on the Canadian side. It has a population of 189 784 people. It is my favorite city that ive built and i used google earth and real Toronto buildings to see where it all specifically looks. Welcome! Uptown and Toronto's golf and country club. To downtown! Main banks of Canada as you see TD Canada trust tower, BMO tower (tallest in Toronto) Scotia bank (in red) Toronto Dominion and CIBC. Here is Old Toronto vs. the new. As you can see the old City Hall court house, statue of founder, library, private school, church and opera house built in 1823 when Toronto was a small village, and the new one infront there (with the two curved building attached). The city still preserves them today. More new development of modern Toronto. In front of the CN tower and the Skydome (baseball stadium) with high end apartments and condos looking on the lake. A picture of the suburbs of Toronto. You would think alot it would be the best place to raise children instead of a big crowded city, however crime is always lingering. The poorer parts and industry boost in this sector. Its a shame it was the only place to put the airport to give travelers a bad first impression when they take their first steps in Toronto, only to find grimy old building and industry. Thanks for viewing! Comments are always appreciated! Keep in mind most of these building except downtown obviously are naturally grown. Most of my cities are like that. Makes more of a challenge
  5. @escilnavia: Thnx It's based of Klow, if you know what I mean? @Sky Guy: YOU CAME BACK JUST FOR ME?!?! @TowerDude: Danke! @Adrianor: Thanks! @ROFLyoshi: Absolutely
  6. The 4th Street bridge was getting deteriorated, as traffic was more than queried. Instead of 500 vehicles and 30 passengers, the bridge actually had 600 cars and 400 passengers. The city has decided the bridge was unsafe and it was demolished. Traffic will be diverted to the new 7th Street bridge while a new one is constructed. 1 MONTH AND 5,000 SIMOLEANS LATER... I just came back from the bridge opening. The Midland Bridge can handle more traffic, and the 7th Street Bridge will remain as a backup bridge.

In this update, we will be looking at the very edge of suburbia. A few towns swallowed by farmland. It's a 1 hour drive from the central city to the nearest farms, but it's worth it. the first stop, is the small town of Wentworth, roughly 8,000 citizens. It is a heavy industry and farming town, with plenty of jobs to offer. It often holds the state fair, every year where thousands come to the town to get very cheap things of all sorts. The most recognisable thing in the town would be the Giant Cathedral. When built, the people had on their minds that the town would become a thriving metropolis, sadly, that never happened. Most farmers are enjoying life on their peaceful farms, but not for long, as they face a man-made threat, urban sprawl. The urban fringe of Dandenong has never been in the same place for more than a year, as the citizens want to build out, not up. Now, we come to another small town of around 3,000. This town is very new, built around an old church refurbished to become the town hall. it wasn't there a year ago. It is Dandenong's actions to supply housing for the growing population. Now, away from the towns and to the farms. Most are just squares, but some are pretty out-there. Trees line the edge of every farm, to give you a sense of freedom. (i've tried to make them as life-like as possible, i have yet to download SPAM) But don't think that these farms are boring, 6 times a year, everyone in the area throws a festival, fireworks guaranteed. Starts in the afternoon and goes well unto dusk. I hope you enjoyed the Country side. -S.R

So... in short I lost all my cities, and have been working on a new one that has about 125,000 people now. School recently began, so I am busy obviously, but I did have time to take some pics. No extravagant photoshopping here... but I really wanted to post these pics. I really enjoyed the photoshopping I did for the storm pic in the last update, so hopefully I'll have time to do that for my next one. As you can see, most of the pics are in the same general vicinity. Reason being, I had recently built a metro line and some other land-bridges for the first time and wanted to feature those. Also, my current bus lines... I will have a pic of my metro lines in the next update. As always, thanks for viewing and commenting! Simtropolis is such wonderful online community; I'm glad I'm a part of it. DC

REPLIES cookiedamage - Thank you! escilnavia - Thanks, that means a lot coming from you. 10000000000000 - Thank you, it's unfortunate that Sim City 4 pixelates the close up photos Zulu2065 - You'll find out soon In the upper class areas of Madison, the sims here have no idea what is going on in the poorer sections of the city. They are oblivious to the fact that half of Madison is burning. The schools are fine and the police coverage is excellent. The kids here, even with their amazing schools and teachers, are lazy and bratty and grades are slipping dramatically. This is a very dark day for The City of Madison. - thanks, canadiansim -

Welcome to New Athens-An introduction from the mayor. I am Trina Decanterberrie. On behalf of the Mason County Commission and the State of West Virginia Division of Tourism, I welcome you to New Athens, West Virginia. Now, it may seem like a small town, but we were once a great place in the history of the Ohio River Valley. We have one of the best preserved mounds along the river. Never tilled nor excavated. Along with that we have the largest collection of civil war diaries outside the Library of Congress. The area of town is roughly one mile wide and a mile and a half long. To the north fo town is the Robert C. Byrd Locks and Dam and Apple Grove, which has the main industrial factory in the immediate area. The town was first inhabited by Shawnee indians. Then came the white settlers from the east. They had a fort up Point Pleasant, and thats where the first Battle of the Revolution occured. The area was cleared of most tribes by 1797, and that's when Samuel Pritchard first arrived. He had a land grant given to him after the French and Indian War, and he was able to settle and build a cabin and a ferry in 1798. The cabin was destroyed in the Great Flood of 1937. Sam Pritchard built the first Post Office and was also the first Post Master. In 1812, the Virginia State Legislature ordered New Athens to be founded as a proper town. As river travel increased and it became less dangerous, the town grew and became home to a small Methodist College. This did not last. But the river became a major commercial connector. By 1871, New Athens had a rail depot along the line extended from Huntington to the Kanawha-Ohio River Junction. This depot was torn down in 1903, and replaced by the current High Victorian Station on Central Avenue/Jerrys Run Road. The Mound, is located right next to the station. In 1909 the United States granted the town a new Post Office. The work began in winter of 1911. By 1913 it was opened. It served for 3 days before the Flood of 1913. The flood didn't destroy the building and it reopened a few months later. Most of the wooden structures were swept away. By 1923 New Athens had built an entire new town of brick and stone. The following decades were quiet. In 1967, black vans and flying saucers were reported in the area. New Athens was not alone, There were also crop circles found in Gallipolis and the Mothman was burning on the lips of the people in Point Pleasant. The sightings ended with the collapse of the Silver Bridge connecting Point Pleasant with Gallipolis. The tragedy caused disruption of transportation on the main route between Columbus and Charleston. Traffic was diverted to the Mason City and Pomeroy Bridge and to the New Athens and Ohio Bridge. New Athens has grown slowely over the last 40 years. The town was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. In the aftermath of the September 11th Terrorist attacks, members of the Coast Guard Station to the north of Point Pleasant opened fire on a crowd of teenagers and college students protesting the Bush administration. Memorial Services were held in the State House in Charleston and the Coast Guards were dishonorabley discharged. With the upcoming Elections in 2004, New Athens is on the verge of a great future. Welcome to Lynnstone circa 1900 to 1920. Just a small town built around the tracks. It used many people that worked in the factories to the south. Small communities grew up around this industrial area bringing in more people into the region. Over time this began to grow Lynnstone into a larger town. The old downtown grew up around the tracks. But in time the city began to make a new business center. And it started to grow quickly. We will see how this city grows in the future.
  12. here's my downtown! Hope you like it
  13. Hello I wish all fans of the trilogy SimCity. I am glad that you came to see my city that I'm trying to build as much as best I can. I like when I write what you like and what does not, and judging my work. Thank you so much and wish you a pleasant sight
  14. Hey Everyone! Just thought I would give you another peak at development of my region. I am trying to keep things relatively consistent and update the entire region as it grows (not just one particular section), so you will notice that things are still relatively spread out. We now move to 1810 when the region is slowly starting to gain residents and a following as a large agricultural region. Approximately 6000 people live within the region to date. The two main areas that have experienced the greatest amount of growth are the city of Cooksville and city of Campbellton. (Sorry for the small detail on the map!) Campbellton: Campbellton has seen a slow but steady increase in farming traffic and residents in the last 15 years. The population has risen to about 900 people in the immediate town centre with a few thousand living in nearby villages. Businesses have slowly started to creep their way slowly towards Fort Campbell as relations with the neighbouring Americans remain friendly. Cooksville: The city of Cooksville also experienced large growth in it's farming community and residents. A small downtown core can now be seen creeping from the docks and heading west. As more residents move to the area, it has also prompted some development in neighbouring Jamestown. Sorry for the short post guys. Hopefully I will be able to ramp up the posts a little bit more as we move into developing the regions rail system. Thanks again!

  17. Mercer Island is across the Liberty Sound from downtown. Once a summer villa only steps away from the city center, Mercer Island is 75% hills that offer incredibly breathtaking views of the city. A favorite travel destination and one of the most expensive areas to live, Mercer Island has grown to be an important center of activities. The flat land to the north of the island, has become the "second downtown," with upscale hotels, new condo developments, and the North Mercer Business District. One of the most popular tourist things to do is the Mercer Island Tram. The tram climbs Mt. Austin at a 30 degree angle, offering thrilling views of the sound and the city. The tram used to go from the North Mercer Business District to the peak of Mt. Austin. An extension was built to reach the bustling town of La Pointe on the south shore of Mercer. While it takes a while to navigate the winding roads on Mercer, the Island Tram is a fast and scenic way to jump from north Mercer to the resort town of La Pointe and the beaches. First off, I lied. Lostin is in fact NOT in Springfield's state (just the one next to it: it's bordered by Texas, Michigan, Ohio, and Colorado). The UNBAN act also included trans-fats as part of the things that couldn't be restricted (it was a very long law). Of course, Lostin, like any city, has a fair share of culture. From the many museums in the city's prized Museum District: …to numerous stage productions… …and concerts. (that's the Lostin Philharmonic Orchestra) One thing Lostin has that many cities don't is distinct ethnic and cultural neighborhoods. Some people tend to think Troseman is the thing that makes Lostin unique. After all, Troseman (and nearby South Lostin neighborhood) are noted for an eccentric blend of things, people, and culture. In a relatively conservative city, Troseman is far more liberal than the rest of Lostin. While aesthetically pleasing, there seems to be a constant battle in Troseman, between the yuppies who reside in new townhomes and the ones who want to preserve Troseman the way it is: a unique multi-cultural area full of decorated and aged houses. Troseman could be considered the "gay neighborhood" of Lostin, but in reality, Troseman is seemingly populated with independent coffee shops and bookstores (the nightclub scene has greatly diminished, though it's still around). The main stretch of the neighborhood, Troseman Avenue, is also one of the major roads in Lostin. South Lostin in many ways is even more eccentric than Troseman. Full of neat shops and restaurants, South Lostin brings tourists both for the beautiful and large South Lostin Park, the many restaurants, tiny subcultures, and more. Lostin South is known to be the state's destination for vintage clothing, and also has the most tattoo parlors per capita in the States (losing out to the similarly named South Austin. Huh.) That's not even counting the many ethnic areas in the city: there's many Hispanic areas in the city, including Gateway Falls and parts of the East End. There's also Little Italy and the inner-city suburb of Winbyrn, which has some of the best food anywhere (not the best place to live, though), Chinatown (with a lot of knock-off shops, but an interesting and busy place), Little Tokyo (even with its own version of Akihabara, in a way). There are many smaller, less notable districts nestled within the city and its suburbs. Arbor Station, a suburb in the city, has a collection of Middle Eastern-oriented shops and restaurants: they even have yogurt soft drinks. Throughout the many neighborhoods of Lostin, there are many grocery stores. Of course, there's Lostin's own Perry's, who has done very well with the ethnic groups, tailoring the retail mix to it, including adding in food accustomed to it as well as general merchandise. Of course, as popular as Perry's is, it has gotten some hate for expanding to general merchandise and becoming "too large". Walmart also has several Supercenter stores located in and around Lostin, which has sniped a significant (but not leading) margin. Kroger remains popular, including Troseman's love-it-or-hate-it "Krappy Kroger" H-E-B, the popular grocery store from Texas, has a handful of stores in town. Meijer (based in Michigan) stepped in to fill the void left by Super Kmart Center (there are no longer Super Kmart Centers in town, only regular ones were left after the 2002-2003 closings) Fiesta, the Hispanic-oriented grocery based out of Houston, even has a few stores in town. It has good prices on many things. Even Safeway has a small presence here (it isn't much, however) Replies Jacksunny - Yeah, I'll keep that in mind. Haydon1996 - Um, thanks?
