Hi there, I've been playing the Sim City series for over a decade now, but only found Simtropolis and the potential that the community have added to SC4 in the last 2 years. I've always wanted to make a city journal but never felt my cities were really good enough until I had some practice with the ridiculous amounts of custom content. So a year and a half later I've finally made something I feel is worthy of starting a city journal with. The image is pretty big so I hosted it on the new stash feature from deviantart. Not sure if simtropolis can host images this large, if anyone knows let me know please. My link Its unnamed, and took about 2 days of on and off work. The buildings are mostly just placeholders. The majority are still maxis buildings which I plan to replace. The city is self sufficient too, it actually functions and is profitable which I like to do when working on good looking cities. Any suggestions or recommendations on how to improve or change parts of the city as it stands would be very much appreciated. With this City Journal I plan to upload bits and pieces; some good, some bad. And finally I might cover how I do things in my kind of semi-newbie way and learn from some local veteran players at the same time =) Thanks guys, -Dov

  4. Haven't had any chance to make a big update today but I will post a small one. The city council needs your help! We have got a real traffic issue in downtown Hampton now as you can see in this picture below that shows the traffic volume in central Hampton. So the city council is asking to outsource this mission to ease the traffic in the central Hampton and also increase air quality etc. The best thing if you want to put in a suggestion is to save the image and paint your traffic solution on it and repost it in this CJ. The city council will then choose the suggestion they think will suite the citys need the best. Hope to see some suggestions! A new update will come tomorrow night (Swedish time!)
  5. Welcome to Concord, the commercial center of the in-progress tri-county area (which will have pictures posted upon completion). Concord and the wider area are based off of a rotated, flipped view of south-central Puget Sound. Concord, which is developed on what is actually Gig Harbor, Washington (near where I grew up ) uses Wollochet Bay (named Alesar Inlet in the game city) and with influence from False Bay and Metro Vancouver creates business district peninsula surrounded by marinas. This is the broad view of metro Concord. To the immediate left of downtown are the three neighborhoods of Gadatonka, Oroyuga and Warahoo which service Nomwa to the south via the suspension bridges over the narrows and through the valley freeway or the Warahoo cut over Alesar Inlet into downtown. Gim Island is serviced through four bridges that connect the island to Warahoo, downtown, Mickleponk and north to the neighboring towns. Downtown Concord is a tightly packed tall bunch of towers providing the majority of Concord's jobs on a sliver of land walled in by the Strait of Killinger above and Alesar Inlet below.
  6. Venture City now has a professional baseball team. The Venture City Monarchs! The Home of The Monarchs for the 2012 season will be Brady Field. Located at 42nd St. and Aramingo Avenue. Brady Field is currently the home of Venture University's NCAA baseball team, The Super Scientists. The Super Scientists will share time this season between Brady Field and a smaller field nearby.. as construction is completed on Monarch Ballpark, scheduled to be opened in 2013. Coming April 2013! Finally, a sneak peek at Venture University.

Hello everyone! This is my region Simtopia (I know, dumb name ) I will be posting new entries every two weeks! Please check back often and enjoy! Make sure you give me suggestions for my city! Due to March Break, the next entry will be posted on the 17th! Stay tuned! The region Simtopia currently consists of a city called Masonville. Pictures below : Traffic used to be heavy on this bridge until an express route opened up which resulted in this bridge's traffic problems to be gone. Notice the pollution around it. There are no industrial areas by the water. The pollution is caused by all the cars! The Industrial island in Masonville This is Masonville's downtown area. Many high wealth areas are currently around here. Surprisingly, traffic is not that bad in this area. In the roundabout (if you can see it) is a library. This is the normal library in the game. This is a developing area for commercial stores and or services. A picture showing the location content is below. Windspear Arena Target Sears Walmart Hospital Giant Tiger Applebees Costco Movie Theater Called the University hospital, this is currently the only hospital in Masonville. It's radius covers the whole city! It can hold a total of 30000 patients. View of the city. I hoped you enjoyed Masonville! Please come back on the 17th to view the next entry! See what happens next! Thanks! Don't forget to leave comments and rate!

So, here we start with the main city of the quartet, Piacenza Oh well...Calling it a city may would be a bit too much...Let's say it's the most important town of the region! It has around 27.000 inhabitants...and that's the place where the first settlements started. In this update we will take a first look at the small city, which has one particular feature : It is a quite town, maybe too much...Its calm, green, fresh, many people in the town works in the outer farmlands, the city itself it's very low-dense, and everywhere you see a very strong and sometimes Insane attention to the natural enviroment, to territory's respect and defense . You might wonder what's wrong with this??...you will find in the next update, when we will talk more deeply about the city's mayor : Emanuel Writh . As we've said before, the town is almost entirely made of low-density houses and villas like these... Uploaded with ImageShack.us Even in the city center itself...The atmosphere is very simple and light...here you can see Piacenza's Railway Station, which might be the most Crowded place, In fact train is one of the main way of transport used by the citizens, and the railway company -Emaland Rail-Lines- is quite rich because of the high number of commuters. Piacenza's police department and a small sport center where you can play tennis and basketball can be seen as well . Uploaded with ImageShack.us The high portion of land dedicated to the agricolture contributes to give this feeling to the city... Uploaded with ImageShack.us For now, it's everything...in the next update, we will take a deeper look at the city and we'll talk about it's MAYOR! Which definitly is a strange one...! See you in the next update, i hope

  12. REPRISE! (replies) @huston: yeah...grid...bluh, I forgot :U and thanks for commenting! @fox: you like it? First attempt at really GIMP'ing a picture it is @Daniel: Thanks! _________________________________ Well now we're out of that predicament, let's go see if we can't get to darnelle the old way eh? So, we hit the road, the dirt round here is a little bit more orange than the rest of the river system, reminiscent of places north of Hermogryh on the lake. This is irrelevant however. What is really interesting about this place is the environment. This is one of the most biologically diverse places in Akemoor. Home at least 1200 different kinds of waterbirds and double that in fish, this area has remained mysterious in that it we just don't know why. Sure we have our hypotheses and theories but at the end of the day we just can't be sure. The government of Akemoor made it's first statement to protect this abundant area from the reaches of people by making it a national park, where it would be safe from all the nasty industries and farms that threaten to end it. The people have supported this movement for much of the time it has been in effect, currently only 12 people live permanently in the area, they are all scattered peoples as they research the wildlife here and protect it from harm. That being said the area is incredibly prone to...well...fires as given away by the name of the place. You see, once upon a time this area wasn't the national park it is today, once upon a time it was the next biggest thing in fishing and farming. These were the 1880's. Then a bushfire broke out, it wasn't exactly a fierce or intense fire it was just well timed and well placed, it struck almost immediately after a fleet of 300 or so workers had just arrived, they were confronted by what an artist rendered as this. Not exactly on par with the biggest and baddest of the bush fires that have been recorded in history but just enough to scare everyone away for as long as it took to declare the place a national park. In more recent years fires have struck also. This picture taken in 1998 A literal wall of smoke and flame just at the border of where the park ends and the farms start. Moving on. Let's go up the road a little more eh? And just WHAT is this!?! This is wrong...this shouldn't be here...what is going on he- What in blazes.... Suppose this is the gas playing a trick on us eh? The gas that the algae in the river here emits, it mixes with the natural evaporation of the river and forms a thick and groggy cloud on the land, although you can't really see it during the day (apart from the odd...oddity) At night.... It takes any and all light it receives and reflects it and amplifies it in all directions resulting in a magnificent light display on clear nights with sufficient moonlight. _______________________________________ Don't forget to comment and rate folks!

As the political thaw of the 1990's gathered speed, the democratic republic of Kiladastan collapsed and neighboring Ralour seized the West bank and reunified the two states under one flag. The two countries historically were part of the Greater Republic of Ralour in the early 18th century before it was dissolved following the second world war, where the two major political paradigms fought in civil war for 3 years back by their respective allies. The civil war ended in a treaty where the communist backed Kiladites agreed upon splitting the country along the Rao river, the largest river in Ralour, with the US backed republican party of Ralour. Map in 1954 Since the thaw the west bank of the Rao has seen heavy development on a previously unused harbor that has quickly grown into a megalopolis. 14. It is with great fury that I lay down control of Luxengia due to a stupid and preventable mistake. During my computer's reset, I neglected to back up my city. So, once again, the prospering city that was lying on this large piece of land vanished-this proves that that land is cursed. I may create yet another city, but I need to know if I should reuse this thread or create another one. With a long sigh, Mayor Cuthbert Nibbles.
  15. REPLIES 10000000000000: Thanks, man! That list helped. I'm still in the process of adding stuff, so I'll work on mixing my foliage. MamaLuigi945: Thanks a lot. Yeah, the Maxis trees are...um...there. Again, I'm working on mixing in other bits. It'll take some time, though. LastTrueChamp: Thanks. vivapanda: Thank you. TowerDude: Ha, thanks! You'll have to check with local realtors to see if there are any lots left! cifa: Thank you very much. NMUSpidey: Ha, thanks a lot. It helps when you have more tools at your disposal to work with when it comes to beautification and the shore line. Gotta build up the resources! vortext: Thanks for the list! I'll be sure to download some of what's there. Crossing Founder's River As Smeethe grew, people branched out across the river. The town is now a full-fledged city, and it has been growing rapidly ever since the interstate connected to Co. Rd. A. Once crossing the river, you'll immediately notice some rather wealthy-looking homes. These are old-money homes, with generation after generation passing the land down to their younger kin. While this area is 'new' by Smeethe standards, it is still quite old. Right across the river, butting up against some farmland, sits Smeethe County High, the county's only high school. The facilities and campus are top notch. Across the interstate and down County Road A sits the town of Skeever. Skeever is a small town and still offers agricultural learning opportunities for children in grades K - 8. Students can learn husbandry, agriculture, and various other 'rural' activities. Founder's River runs through the heart of the region and is named to honor those brave people who first conquered the wilderness and settled in Smeethe County. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I hope you've enjoyed this entry. I'd like to say thank you again to EVERYONE who has taken the time to look at and comment on this City Journal. I'm always looking for advice on how to improve as well as sets that would help me achieve a more realistic look. Have a wonderful evening and a wonderful week.

Hi guys! This is the first entry about the Republic of Wemtonia. It's an island country, which used to be a no man's land filled with coal mines. It had huge amounts of this fuel hidden under the landscapes, but it was being used up to such a huge extent, that it would no longer bring profit if the procedure was continued. Although most of the workers have found a different job and a different place to live, some of them refused to leave and decided to keep on living in Wemtonia, which was then owned by a coal export company. The bosses of the company didn't have anything against it, since the island's environment has been totally destroyed by the coal mines. All of this happened in 1921, a few years after WWI. During all that time, things have improved. Today, Wemtonia is a country with a good economy and a little over 150,000 citizens. Today we will focus on the city of Tendons. It has only 10,000 inhabitants, so why did I chose this one and not the capital? Well, it's because Tendons is where it all began. That's where the environment began to restore and where the first real houses were built. There still are industrial districts, but great measures have been taken to let the plants and animals live in harmony with humans. The St Johns Roundabout and Mass Transit Complex in North Tendons Industrial District. The North Tendons Industrial District is one of the biggest industrial districts in whole Wemtonia. It's located just off the A1 highway, the major traffic link between the north and the south of Wamtonia. There are approximately 20,000 work places available. It's served by a tram line, which connects it with the Riverside District. The tram line to Riverside, station Brick Street Transit. Allows the Tendonsans to catch a taxi after getting here with the tram. In 1993, a tunnel under the Oslet river was built, since a bridge over it wasn't enough, due to 20,000 vehicles crossing it each day. It connects the north side of Tendons with the south side. It also forms a part of the A1. Entrance to the Oslet Tunnel, view from the south. Tendons also has richer parts, such as the Stone Bay district in the south east. It has been established in 1973 by a group of investors from Ireland. The Stone Bay District. The avenue seen on the picture above is the George Pitchmaster Avenue. George Pitchmaster was the man who started the environmental revolution. His daughter now lives in one of the Tendons' villas and she's keen to tell you everything about her dad, while drinking coffee. The George Pitchmaster Avenue is an important road artery, which connects the Stone Bay District with the South Tendons Industrial District. It ends at the George Pitchmaster roundabout. The George Pitchmaster Roundabout, one of the busiest junctions in Tendons. It had to get an extra lane in the middle, because of the constant traffic jams. On the right you can see the Yellow Lane power plant, which, along with the numerous wind turbines, covers the electricity needs of South East Wemtonia. Well, this is it. I hope you enjoyed this entry. Keep tuned for entries about different towns and cities in Wemtonia!
