Hey all, Today I want to take a deep dive into a topic very close to my own heart: The Jughandle Intersection! This setup uses highway slip ramps or clovers with an at-grade intersection to avoid conflict points with left turning traffic. The advantage of this setup is that high-speed traffic can use the left lane at full speed without drivers slowing or merging into left-turn lanes. This eliminates the possibility of left-turners congesting a turn lane and stopping traffic in the lanes of the roadway. They are common (and infamous) in my home state of New Jersey - birthplace of both the jughandle AND the cloverleaf interchange! I've been hunting for international examples, and I'm surprised they are not in wider use or I have trouble finding them. Here are some examples from around the world, making creative use of space: Some have specialized industrial purposes, like these turns designed for log trucks. One is located in urban-industrial Edmonton, the other off a forested lane in rural Finland. And for left side drivers, here are complicated right-hand turns! What's your experience with these intersections? Have them where you live? Please send me a link! - I will add it to my list! Considering building one for your SimCity? Show us here! NO LEFT TURNS!

Remove traffic lights at a specific intersection
Honolulu posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Is it possible to remove the traffic lights at a specific intersection? And with which tool? (I'll look for how to do it in the forum. It's like being in a serendipity store. I like it). Thank you for your answers.- 6 Replies

Greetings all, i have dirt roads but cant set cross or tee in between. I have no NAM. Somebody have an idea? Picture is attached Many thx in advance, Greetings Jo

Is there any way in which I can get the following setup to work? A one-way road (double or single lane) crossing a four-lane road, entering a regular, Maxis road. Not seen in the picture are single-lane OWRs entering this widened road and they make valid T-intersections. However, I have problems with this one and any time I try to make an intersection, the four-lane road collapses and continues as a vanilla network.

Hi After a few years, I finally reinstalled SimCity and the NAM to play again. I have some questions about the railsystem that I cannot seem to find an answer to. 1) I suppose trains do not turn at a 90 degree angle. In the past I always built roundabouts but those take up quite a lot of space. Is there something in the mod that is a rail roundabout? 2) Rather than the basic train station, I can now use the modern train station that is 6 squares long. However, it points to a road connection in front, rather than to the side of the station. That would mean that there is a railcrossing the road at every station. Is that how it's supposed to be?

Adventures in Transit: Rigging a RHW intersection
jonnyquest posted a topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Often while imagining how everything fits together within a region, I have the desire to terminate a RHW at some point within a city. In real life, highways (even interstate ones) occasionally feature intersections with stoplights as they pass through major cities, although this doesn't seem to be something that's natively possible with RHW currently. So after a bit of messing around I was able to come up with the solution in the attached image. To create my faux intersection, I crossed an avenue with two five-lane one-way roads from the Network Widening Mod (the closest approximation I could come up with for the RHW 10-S I'm working with). Through a careful process of disconnecting tiles and using filler pieces to adjoin my RHW, I was able to arrive at a pretty good visual solution. The autonoma do turn onto the RHW, although they fade away almost immediately after. Go figure But more importantly, a look at the Traffic data view shows that the Sims *are* turning onto the RHW here for their commute to the neighboring city. Success! Has anyone else faced this dilemma of wanting to build a highway intersection like this, and what strategies do you use for terminating highways?- 3 Replies

Is there a way to make this road split neatly into the lane to get off and to get onto the highway? I could solve this with a roundabout, but I believe just a split would be nicer and more realistic. Somewhat related question: here I have an intersection of roads, a street and the lanes to and from the highway. Now here should definitely be a roundabout, but the normal one-way roundabout is too small and the avenue roundabout only seems to work with avenues. Is there a way to make a roundabout like this (so actually round and not a square)?

Hi, I have to put an intersection between an angled ground train rail and a GLR track. I can go underground or get elevated with one of them, but it seems there aren't any transition pieces, ramps, connectors or intersection pieces that could work, apparently. I got back on SC4 after a long trime, so it's plausible I can't remember exactly how to work this intersection out... I have NAM last version, btw. Question: how can I intersect these tracks? The red arrow indicates the GLR should pass over or under the rails, but I could apply the same procedure to the rails and leave the GLR straight on the ground. What would you suggest?

just want to show off this intersection i made

Making rail roundabout intersections was so easy in SimCity, but now I installed the NAM add-on it no longer works. Now rail intersections take up a lot of space, or they deny trains the possibility of turning back. Should I uninstall the NAM add-on to get the old rail system back, or is their a way to make to make rail roundabouts while keeping the add-on. What do other users do?

This ridiculous intersection design completely baffled me when it came to efficiency

This ridiculous intersection design completely baffled me when it came to efficiency. It is a concept that I came up with that actually works. It looks ridiculous. -
1ST city, Manhattan area... Enjoy and feel free to comment. So let`s go for what you came to see: My Virtual City. I downloaded several city maps here, one was the are that I live Curitiba, but between several good maps (like Seattle map) I chose a NY city MAP by: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/5089-new-york-city-ny/ First Pictures: As usual in my game pattern I always place civic buildings 1st, then I think the way that traffic will move and construct big avenues in that sense. Ps. Tribute to the acclaimed best New York Mayor ever: David Dinkins Then, by coincidence, the NAM 37 was released then, like a child, I went to use my First time NAM. Of course I needed to watch couple hours of videos explaining how to use NAM and some how to construct intersections and viaducts, the two that most helped me was: 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJoa7KTP1Tg&list=LLgTrls2bdo2NDEw8gZt8Dvw&index=10&t=1014s 2.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhlOPOIbtMM&list=LLgTrls2bdo2NDEw8gZt8Dvw&index=9&t=495s So I did prepare terrain for a 10 lane road, took me like 4 hours to construct including watching videos. Tip: if you are new at NAM like me, be patient and pay attention at the buttons clicked in the videos. So, my 10 lanes road with road width transitions and projected to have 3 double rails under (starting in the tunnel at botton of the image and finishing at rails intersection. So after all that Story that tested your patience, following pictures of my starting city. Called "starting city" the moment that I expend the biggest amount that I can to construct a City, for this one was 350K. PS. I destroyed the 10 lane road to build one in proportion with the size of my city (4 lanes). Then I build the MIS, by the picture you can see that I not used curved MIS curved roads, little pardon here, 1st time using. In future, when I will substitute that 4 lanes for a 10 lanes, I promess that I will do a pretty one. That one cost me couple hours. After the road built, I stretched the industrial/agricultural area for the other side of the Hudson using rails, it appears that hold nice my commuting time with buses network. PS. A lot of beautiful farms down there, now I understand why so many post of small cities, farm cities and small neighborhood , is so much beautiful than big commercial areas...

I wasn't able to find anybody else having this problem on the internet, so I thought about asking it myself on the forum. When placing an avenue intersection, the situation in the picture happens. But this only happens with a four-way intersection. A three-way intersection is fine. And I can't figure out what I have done to cause this. Because this didn't happen when I played this game for the last time a year ago, and now it does. So it is a bit difficult to remember what I have done in the meantime. I am basically trying to ask you guys for suggestions, before removing the two mods and seeing if that solved the problem. Which would be a shame, because NAM is quite handy for making sure the Sims are less stupid. My mods are: NAM 36 and Road Top Mass Transit Thanks in advance.

In the city I am working on there is an intersection that goes as such 4 west bound one way lanes that run east west though the far right lane can turn right and go north, also the far left lane can turn south onto four lane two way street (one south lane 3 north) from the south of the intersection going north cars can turn onto west bound lanes but on the north side of the intersection it turns into a 4 lane one way road north bound. I have tried every which way but loose to get this intersection to work but just will not work any suggestions.

What mods for mega intersection?
AmiPolizeiFunk posted a topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Hey Simtropoloions, How to make mega intersections? I want 8 one-way roads to connect to one intersection without islands in the middle. How it is done? -
I've seen some cities with turn lanes, just like TULEPs from NAM. I'm not sure if there's a mod for this. If so, which one is it? I figure this would require a transition from a regular street to an asymmetrical one, but as far as I know, all transitions are either abrupt (2 lane road to 3 lane road) or they look like intersections (2 lane road to 4 lane avenue). All in all, how to do this?

Hey guys Long time no see. I came about an issue I'd like to share with you. Hope you can help me with this pickle. Can you edit a map (add more connections with highways etc) with an existing city? Is there a mod for it? Or could I copy my road layout so I can paste it on the new map?

Hello! I'm currently trying to make this intersection i created as an asset for the community: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=797357858 i also make a video tutorial: The problem is one of the props that i used to make it look like this. I used "More Beautification" mod and choose the "Bike Middle" prop (it's vanilla and you can see it in the video at 2:10) and the problem is when i'm trying to make the intersection as an asset i cannot find the prop, i searched in the game files and i could not find it. If someone know how to find the prop and maybe upload it to the workshop or something i'll be so glad! Sorry for my bad English btw...

Hey all I installed airport 1 transit enabled. The one with only 8 pieces to it. Installed all depend. My problems are the road texture in the service area are missing. Also when I hover over airport it only says it's a train generator not an airport showing the specs of it. I plopped the piece that is a extended parking lot as the readme says. At this point I'm lost. It does show the animations. one other thing is there a way to join a RHW 4 off ramp to a TLA-7 ave.? I used a rhw 4 off ramp off of a RHW 6 highway. I was looking for a two lane off ramp instead of the 1 lane mis. I seems to hook up to it but at the intersection there is no signals and doesn't look very good. Options Hide Report

I cannot seem to find something in Steam workshop that can help me reduce this traffic problem I am facing at this intersection. I think the best so far is really to do a roundabout. Do you have any suggestions on what it can help? The top part where all the traffic are going to are all my Commercials and Offices. It's my central business area. There are no residential area there. Coming from the highways are the residential areas.

After deliberation on how and where to kick-start the transformation of the road and rail network, mayor Wournos III sent her road builders and landscaping artists to the least used roundabout, located in the South-East area of the county. It would require the least amount of work and would serve as a foundation on how to proceed with the project. Some of the pines in Rural Forest had to be cut down, nearly exposing the abandoned loading bay by the single-track-rail. New trees, mostly tall broad-leaf ones, were planted in and around the intersection to preserve the forest feeling the locals had grown so fond of. One resident was caught in the line of fire and had to have their entire property rebuilt (free of charge) because its original location interfered with a sliproad. The previously open fields South-West of the new intersection now serves as a small community with a few shops and farmland. One large field divided into two segments by a crumbling low stone wall were kept intact due to local demand. The fields serves as a perfect location for Midsummer celebration. Besides, who wants to live close to a highway? Lastly, the road team went ahead and tackled a not so unused roundabout. A few local farmers lost their land and a fairly used train station was demolished. Worst case scenario - more than just a few bits of rail will have to be rebuilt. Best case scenario - the train station is rebuilt a merely 30 metres west of its previous location. It's something for the rail builders to discuss. Meanwhile the flora keeps growing and spreading inside the second intersection.
