  1. A Busy Intersection II

    From the album Random Pictures

    A 24 hour timelapse i guess....
  2. Hey guys Long time no see. I came about an issue I'd like to share with you. Hope you can help me with this pickle. Can you edit a map (add more connections with highways etc) with an existing city? Is there a mod for it? Or could I copy my road layout so I can paste it on the new map?
  3. Hello! I'm currently trying to make this intersection i created as an asset for the community: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=797357858 i also make a video tutorial: The problem is one of the props that i used to make it look like this. I used "More Beautification" mod and choose the "Bike Middle" prop (it's vanilla and you can see it in the video at 2:10) and the problem is when i'm trying to make the intersection as an asset i cannot find the prop, i searched in the game files and i could not find it. If someone know how to find the prop and maybe upload it to the workshop or something i'll be so glad! Sorry for my bad English btw...
  4. Hey all I installed airport 1 transit enabled. The one with only 8 pieces to it. Installed all depend. My problems are the road texture in the service area are missing. Also when I hover over airport it only says it's a train generator not an airport showing the specs of it. I plopped the piece that is a extended parking lot as the readme says. At this point I'm lost. It does show the animations. one other thing is there a way to join a RHW 4 off ramp to a TLA-7 ave.? I used a rhw 4 off ramp off of a RHW 6 highway. I was looking for a two lane off ramp instead of the 1 lane mis. I seems to hook up to it but at the intersection there is no signals and doesn't look very good. Options Hide Report

STEAM Workshop link now available, click download then click on (Main File) option. The turtle is a traffic management solution for highway exits. It consists of an asset and an idea. The idea is to divide the traffic into three main flows through an advanced highway roundabout and traffic distribution system. Advanced to me, at least. Until now my highway exits were a real nightmare. This roundabout actually works. Cars will use all three lanes and traffic never stops moving, as shown on the animated GIF. What you have to do is place The Turtle between your highway exit and your town. Then connect the two stub end to the highway and the six lane road on the opposite end to your main residential or commercial hub. Now connect the roundabout ramps to industrial or other main areas and then again those areas to each other and to the main hub, making sure that the connections are far enough away from The Turtle. In my tests this system was able to comfortably handle the entire traffic of a 24k Cim town with one Turtle, with traffic reading never going red. Placing one additional highway exit at the industrial area instantly turns the traffic reading towards the green. Note there are no public transportation systems at all in the test city, and all zones are high density. Anyhow, let me know what you think. All suggestions and criticisms are welcome. To install, unzip file, then move the "TPB CSLIA - The Turtle v1.crp" file into \Users\*YOU*\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Assets Replace *YOU* with whatever your user account name is on your machine. Please note the AppData folder is hidden by default, you'll have to show hidden files in explorer to find it. Visit my Asset Studio for news on upcoming uploads. If you like this product, please take a moment to leave a comment or give me a rating, I really appreciate that little gesture in exchange of my work. Also feel free to share this on any other social media you may use! Thank you and enjoy!
  6. I cannot seem to find something in Steam workshop that can help me reduce this traffic problem I am facing at this intersection. I think the best so far is really to do a roundabout. Do you have any suggestions on what it can help? The top part where all the traffic are going to are all my Commercials and Offices. It's my central business area. There are no residential area there. Coming from the highways are the residential areas.
  7. Farms - intersection #2 and flora

After deliberation on how and where to kick-start the transformation of the road and rail network, mayor Wournos III sent her road builders and landscaping artists to the least used roundabout, located in the South-East area of the county. It would require the least amount of work and would serve as a foundation on how to proceed with the project. Some of the pines in Rural Forest had to be cut down, nearly exposing the abandoned loading bay by the single-track-rail. New trees, mostly tall broad-leaf ones, were planted in and around the intersection to preserve the forest feeling the locals had grown so fond of. One resident was caught in the line of fire and had to have their entire property rebuilt (free of charge) because its original location interfered with a sliproad. The previously open fields South-West of the new intersection now serves as a small community with a few shops and farmland. One large field divided into two segments by a crumbling low stone wall were kept intact due to local demand. The fields serves as a perfect location for Midsummer celebration. Besides, who wants to live close to a highway? Lastly, the road team went ahead and tackled a not so unused roundabout. A few local farmers lost their land and a fairly used train station was demolished. Worst case scenario - more than just a few bits of rail will have to be rebuilt. Best case scenario - the train station is rebuilt a merely 30 metres west of its previous location. It's something for the rail builders to discuss. Meanwhile the flora keeps growing and spreading inside the second intersection.

______________________________________________________________________________________________ Bipin's "Turbout" Turbo Roundabout package includes the necessary components you need for modernizing your suburban or rural areas. Whether it be gentrifying old neighbourhoods or simply creating sleek, new modern ones, the four-way stop is quickly becoming a thing of the past in all corners of the world. There's no better way to hop in the urban revitalization bandwagon than with these simple, albeit extremely useful pieces that add roundabout intersections for the most crucial and common intersections your Sims will face! Begin with building an interchange more or less similar to this one: As an alternative, you may replace the avenue towards the left and the right with RHW, like I have. Once that's done, overlap my large roundabout piece so it covers the whole area. That's what you see in previous pictures. Included in this package is a highway/surface network roundabout interchange, as well as a highly modular set of roundabout for smaller, albeit no less common 3x3 surface-street intersections. These pieces come in several varieties, with zero, one, two three and four crosswalks to meet all your urban enhancement needs; to fulfill a range of applications where you may wish for greater modularity. However, as much as I regret saying this, the dependency located here is necessary, for the buildings: http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/26504-wmp-allotment-set/ I hope you enjoy this set, and please be sure to check out the smaller SimCity websites around, like SimMania for instance, which may be found here: http://simmania.darkbb.com/ or SimCityBuffs here: http://simcitybuffs.icyboards.net/ _________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________ If there's one thing I'd like you to get out of this BAT set, it's that the lesser-known communities were heavily involved in this project. A big thanks goes out to SBT (SimMania) and those of you over at SimPEG. Thanks for all the help over there, I couldn't of done a lot of this without your insight! On that note, expect to see future BATs released a day or two early on the aforementioned sites. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Note: I am aware of some bugs regarding textures and prop placement. I am fixing them now, so don't fret over the issue.

(UPDATED: No more lamp-post clipping, still 9m. Thank you @Sims firehouse for teaching me the fix. Steam users don't need to do anything, the rest, please re-download.) This is a modified version of my Turtle Highway Exit asset. Made by request for @poilbrun, it features 9 meter overpasses for added realism, as the slopes become much much smoother this way and well, why make 15 meter overpasses when 9m is enough? It also includes some flora. Enjoy. ps. The color of my highway and roads in the screenshots is different from vanilla version due to a Mod called Road Color Changer. Yours won't be as dark unless you install the mod. To install Steam version, click download, then click on (Main file) option. You'll be taken to the steam page for the asset. And I'll get a download count on here too, win-win. To install stand-alone version, unzip file, then move the "TPB Highway to 6-Lane Roundabout.crp" file into \Users\*YOU*\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Assets Replace *YOU* with whatever your user account name is on your machine. NOTICE: Version two is now up here on Simtropolis and has been updated to the same items as the previous version on Steam. So for Steam users, you don't need to do anything, just rebuild your avenues. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this. If you built avenues with previous versions I ask you to kindly rebuilt them with these pieces. --- Whats new in version 2? - Menu Icons! Yes you read that right, no more scrolling and waiting for pop-up bubbles. This version comes with shiny new menu icons for your enjoyment! Big thank you to Ratonces, who showed me how to do it. - No more guide grids; easy, flexible placement; tolerates slopes. - More realistic spacing of elements. Less fountains, trees and benches. - Removed garbage production and reduced EntertainmentAccumulation, as well as Tourism numbers. - Changed piece size standard from 6x10 to 6x12, fillers from 4x2 to 6x2. The MAv2 is an Integrated Park, Roads and Electric Grid system. This version features major improvements in usability, look and versatility. 17 Assets in total, neatly packaged in one zip file, allow the creation of a beautiful avenue system with integrated park effect and electric transmission as a bonus. The Guide Grid system from the previous version has been done away with completely and several new avenue pieces added instead. These can be plopped anywhere(except in water, shore or on very steep terrain), and don't require to be placed next to a road as normal parks do. They are fully functional both as parks and as transport systems. You can zone next to them, build services, bus-stops, and even make your own Avenue Median filler parks (6x2) to customize the look of your avenues. Or zone in the median for some nice shopping spaces. The Cims love to use the avenue, they sit on the benches, they walk on the median, they gather on corners, they take the pedestrian overpasses. It makes your city acquire an additional layer of liveliness and realism. The pieces have a unified lanscaped look. Common elements are benches, fountains, trashcans, flower pots, trees, shrubs, and other vanilla props. Some variety is added through the use of vending machines props, billboards and kiosks, as well as "crowd" props to bring some spots to life. More customization is available if you make your own fillers in the Asset Editor, or as future releases from me. The zip file, (or steam collection, which I'll update next) contains all you need to build your Avenues. My videos about the first version are now obsolete. I'll be making new ones in the next few days. Here is a quick-and-dirty demo with youtube annotations, when I get some time I'll make a proper video. An image tutorial will be added has been added to this page as well, but the main idea is this: How to use - Simple General Instructions Familiarize yourself with the pieces, which are now all in the parks menu and have icons. Pick your first piece and plop it. Select the two-lane one-way-road with trees tool and drag a 4 cell (300 construction cost in hard mode) stretch from an outgoing stub on the avenue piece. Using the grid created by the road you just drew as a guide, draw another 4 cell road but this time in the opposite direction. Now you can snap another piece into those stubs. Then repeat the above process, making sure to use the two-lane one-way-road with trees tool and ensuring you are always making 300 construction cost (6 cells) segments. Rinse and repeat until you are done making any layout you want. Easy huh? How to use - perpendicular avenues To make a crossing between two perpendicular avenues, or a T intersection, use the 4 node avenue intersection piece. Plop it, then do the same as above, but when you drag from the stubless nodes, this time drag 2 extra, or 6 cells (450 contruction cost in hard mode) This is to account for the missing stubs on this piece. If you don't care about symmetry or about putting fillers in all gaps, you can drag as many cells as you want in length. You can use the 5 node piece to make an intersection as above but with a 6-lane road leaving on one side. How to use - Intersections I've condensed U-turns, Ts and Intersections for the normal roads into one piece for each road type. For normal "intersection" pieces (ones without the word "nodes" in them), you plop the piece, then you can either leave it as it is for a U-Turn effect, drag the respective road type from one side for a T intersection, or from both sides for a full intersection. Other The rest of the pieces are fairly intuitive once you get the hang of how it works. There are some Half-T pieces, which means the road joins the avenue but only on one side; and Double-T pieces, which means the roads join on both sides but dont traverse the median. Then there is a curve piece for making avenue corners, a straight piece, and a filler for the gaps between sections. The filler you can use to fill these gaps left between pieces, or you can zone in them for some shops to be in the median, or you can make your own 6x2 filler parks to add variety! Have fun building! --------- Suggestions as always are welcome, as well as any comments or problems you may discover. fb.com/TPBsWorkshop Steam Workshop Youtube Are you rich and want to help a Mexican buy his tacos? STEAM Workshop link available, click download then click on (Main File) option. I've noticed a lack of rail-road intersections, and found a mod that allows me to build them. So here's another. This train-track intersection has been extensively "polished" for maximum smoothness of curves. I know it's not perfect, but trust me, after more than 10 hours working on it, that's as good as it's going to get until they upgrade the networks or something. That result you see there is the smoothest I was able to get. The overpass is 9m high only, as opposed to the normal 15m of in-game overpasses. This results in a very nice and smooth slope for the bridge. I found an issue where, if I left out the little stubs on the ends, and the user didnt put in a perfectly straight section, then the rail tracks would not branch properly. So this is why this asset is a bit larger than necessary, to avoid this issue. Details Size: 46x46 Cost: 13900 Upkeep: 221 How to use In order to use this, you first need to have built a train station somewhere in your city. To plop this, delete 4 or 5 sections on a straight part of your rail network, then align the asset to one of the ends and plop it. Now connect the other ends. Installation To install, unzip file, then move the .crp file into \Users\*YOU*\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Assets Replace *YOU* with whatever your user account name is on your machine. STEAM Workshop link available, click download then click on (Main File) option. Please watch the linked video for a quick tutorial on how to assemble it. Have you ever wanted to build a circular town or neighbourhood but just can't get those circles right? Then this is for you! This asset allows you to create a perfectly circular road layout with a few clicks of your mouse. Simply plop the four quadrants in place, place the missing roads and pedestrian paths, and get building! This is an improved version of my first circular town, which I left as a different download because I feel it still has its uses. Main differences are the presence of a central park, elevated pedestrian paths, and a street layout planned with permeability and congestion reduction in mind. Asset details Size: 64x64 per section, 128x128 assembled. Cost: 36117 per piece. Road types: 6 lane and 2 lane One-way Roads There are three main large circular roads and two smaller ones. The large outer road serves the first inner section of zonable land and collects all traffic from it. The middle one serves the next section in the same manner and finally, the inner-most roundabout is fed and distributes all major traffic on the two main radial arteries exclusively, reducing the number of intersections on it from twelve on the previous version to just four. You'll notice I've reduced the number of 4-way intersections considerably, and that the two-lane roads are now only connected to the nearest large road. This is a principle of urban design in street layouts as explained in the How to Traffic guide and I am hoping with this layout you'll have very little traffic problems. Unlike my first Circular Town Modular, in this one I recommend sticking to 6-lane one-way roads to fill in the missing spaces, as shown in the video. Make sure they continue in the same direction on the other side of the central roundabout. UPDATE: STEAM Workshop link now available in download options. Version 2 is now up, with the whole interchange now made of highway for better capacity and flow. This is a three level roundabout interchange between two highways, one elevated and one ground, with the roundabout between the two. This interchange is 54x54 tiles and is oriented in orthogonal, so you can count tiles and make an exact gap for it in your existing highways, then right-click, hold and drag to carefully rotate the piece into place. You can check out Sims firehouses technique for accurately placing assets in his picture tutorial here (Tutorial in pictures, you gotta click). I've done my very best to make it as symmetric as possible, but keen eyes will find some very small imperfections. DDIs are safe and efficient interchanges. I'll let wikipedia explain why since I'm no engineer. From wikipedia: Includes three versions: Ground. The interchange is built just like in real life, with only 1 overpass to save money. This one has two lane one way on the diverging part. Ground Highway. Just like above except diverging part is made from three lane highways too for increased capacity and speed. Elevated. Same like the first one, except the whole thing is elevated off the ground and further ramps are made from one way roads. The assets come with no highway stubs attached to make it as small as possible for ease of plopping. Just attach highways to each end. Remember you can use right-click to rotate the asset for plopping. The elvated version has raised straight sections, which means you can use this right smack-in-the-middle of a built area; you won't be wasting so much space, and can build roads or whatever you like in between the flyovers. See picture 3 for reference. This is also the reason why one of the fly-overs has a slight dip in it at one point, to go under the higher level one on its left, while leaving enough room for a road to travel under it at the same time. You'll see what I mean when you try it out. I used a little trick to achieve this half-height overpass. The outer ramps are made from one-way roads and the inner are highway ramps, this is to make each highway stub receive and feed exactly three lanes into each direction, making traffic flow smoothly and without weaving at all. The asset comes with no highway stubs attached to make it as small as possible for ease of plopping. Just attach highways to each end. To install, unzip file, then move the "TPB CSLIA..." files of your choice into \Users\*YOU*\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Assets. Replace *YOU* with whatever your user account name is on your machine. Please note the AppData folder is hidden by default, you'll have to show hidden files in explorer to find it. Local Express Cloverleaf v1 This is a high capacity Cloverleaf with Collector-Distributor Lanes. Includes flora but you can easily delete it if you don't like the way I've arranged it. The outer ramps are made from one way roads for decorative purposes, but keep in mind there is a speed limit of 40mph on them, so if you have a lot of traffic you may want to replace these with normal highway ramp. Special care has been taken to finish this cloverleaf interchange to a high standard. Having said that, the outer ramp spurs are not perfectly aligned to the rest of their curve, because of lack of space in the Asset Editor mainly, but also to give a better turning angle to vehicles. ie. It's intended. To install, unzip file, then move the "TPB CSLIA - LE Cloverleaf v1.crp" file into \Users\*YOU*\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Assets Replace *YOU* with whatever your user account name is on your machine. Please note the AppData folder is hidden by default, you'll have to show hidden files in explorer to find it. Visit my Asset Studio for news on upcoming uploads. 21. Road Construction

Reconstruction of the I-30S & Hwy 5 intersection. This intersection has remained unchanged for quite some time, and functioned perfectly well when the region was less built up, and Rockwall was less built up. A couple new exits were haphazardly constructed in order to hopefully ease the growing traffic. However, this achieved the oppesite effect as new medium density and high density buildings began to sprout up around these new exits, in turn causing worse traffic problems. Unfortunately, the current infastructure built for the intersection causes huge traffic backups, I mean lots of red congestion. In fact, as you can observe, the congestions backs all the way to one of the main shopping centers in town, located south of the intersection. Let us now undergo the reconstruction process, and in doing so relieving some of the traffic problems. We will rebuild this intersection with the least amount of demolition possible. For if this was real life, most of the land and buildings here would be too expensive for any state to buy and use for roadways. Phase I As Phase I is completed, we have diverted the majority of the problem. Northbound Hwy 5 now has a way to get onto I-30S without stopping. This will relieve most traffic. However our work is not yet finished, because that only solves their morning commute troubles. In Phase II, we will address the evening issues. Phase II Now we have added a way for evening commuters coming from Bowden via eastbound I-30S to connect to Hwy 5 southbound more easily. In doing so, we will also free up traffic heading northbound on Hwy 5 as well. Next, the finishing touches. Phase III We have finished our new intersection. We have left some of the old in place, while adding new overpasses and onramps. This will allow traffic to more easily flow through and around this major intersection. Here is a new look at the traffic:
  22. As 2nd special I decided to show you my extremly bad skills in working with the RHW. So I just build a RHW 4/ RHW 6s intersection (with the new NAM 32 pre release) without any tutorial, experiences or anything else:D It should work, but I'm sure it's the worst way to build a T intersection. I mmp'd the pond just because there was so much useless, free area. PS: Yeah, the bad photoshop work is on purpose, just to fit in the rest of this special of nonsense, the text is there to underline my stupidity in transportation systems too (The turbo roundabout is part of the NAM32 pre-release, you can download it on ModdB, nothing is ready yet and support: http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=449.0, I hope I'm allowed to show the pictures, although I don't know why I shouldn'to.O) Replies feeroz123: Thanks, the open area isn't even real on purpose, it's just a thing of the tree controller I use Ace❤: Thanks and you're right, especially along the tracks some scrub and pebble would be nice, but I didn't thought about it... Huston: Thanks and yes, I thought the tree controller would be enough but it looks kinda blank as I take a look on it right now....the next time it will be better
