Hey all, Today I want to take a deep dive into a topic very close to my own heart: The Jughandle Intersection! This setup uses highway slip ramps or clovers with an at-grade intersection to avoid conflict points with left turning traffic. The advantage of this setup is that high-speed traffic can use the left lane at full speed without drivers slowing or merging into left-turn lanes. This eliminates the possibility of left-turners congesting a turn lane and stopping traffic in the lanes of the roadway. They are common (and infamous) in my home state of New Jersey - birthplace of both the jughandle AND the cloverleaf interchange! I've been hunting for international examples, and I'm surprised they are not in wider use or I have trouble finding them. Here are some examples from around the world, making creative use of space: Some have specialized industrial purposes, like these turns designed for log trucks. One is located in urban-industrial Edmonton, the other off a forested lane in rural Finland. And for left side drivers, here are complicated right-hand turns! Built in 1993, the Alakea Corporate Tower (also known as 1100 Alakea Plaza) is located at the corner of Alakea Street and South Hotel Street in downtown Honolulu, Hawaii. This model is available as a CO$$$ tower in both growable and ploppable versions, both of which provide 1550 jobs and sit on a 3x3 lot. Both Darknite and Maxisnite options are provided - use only one at a time! G'Day Simtropians, Some time ago Samerton and the WW2 Bat Fiends requested the Hawaiian chain of islands. I made them and had to cut The Big Island into four maps. Now with the help of magic the television and Kitsune it is possible to play the Big Island on one big map ;<). Enter Hawai'i. This is a real world map and was produced with attention to detail and time on my hands, It's the largest map I have released so far and weighs in at 135.168km x 151.552km. Big!!! There is quite a bit of water hacked out but there are still 701 large tiles, it took almost 8 hours total to render (with my render mod). I'd hate to think how long it would take without. Okay a few caveats: 64bit OS only, Mapper only, 4GB patcher. One will need to read the readme for full instructions and links to stuff. So go to it. That's it I think Cheers.- 13 Comments

It's the eve of Evestown's (lol) 100th Birthday, and citizens are more than proud! Tonight, the city has been looking especially beautiful... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EngpWglT3p4 Below is Hydrangea Bridge, the result of the population explosion that took place in the mid 80s to late 90s. It's about to get especially busy since citizens want to go downtown and party! Even people in the suburbs are throwing parties! Usually the lights would be out by now on most houses! The city is spectacular and lively tonight! It's 1 AM and people are still driving into downtown from every section of the city! You would be lucky to be living on one of the island suburbs, as the bridges are congested and hectic as people come in from the other suburbs off the island! Hotel rooms are booked and the marina is lit up! A new hotel has opened and tonight is its first night open. Every single room is taken! It is called, "Majestic City Tower", and is the tallest building in Evestown. The people of Evestown are very pleased. It's now daytime, and the celebrations and partying are yet to end! Even the stingy city government has splurged a little bit and decided to reward its well behaved citizens with a new football (soccer) stadium! It's right in the middle of downtown and the city is planning on participating in many more sporting events and putting together official teams!
