  1. OVERVIEW The Network Widening Mod (abbreviated NWM) is a mod which extends the game's Road and One-Way Road networks through override network technology to create a system of variable width surface streets. In effect, it is the surface street equivalent of the RealHighway (RHW) mod. The first release was the result of over 3 years of effort, which required overcoming a number of technical difficulties and conundrums, including the creation of new Traffic Simulator Plugins to properly handle the NWM, and difficulties with the existing Road Turning Lane plugin. This Overview Post Last Updated 07/27/2014 Since the NAM 31.0 release in March 2013, the NWM has been included in the NAM itself. It will no longer be offered as a separate download. NWM development is largely on hold until the NAM 34 development cycle. The NAM may be obtained from the following distribution sites: Simtropolis (STEX)---------- (coming soon) SC4 Devotion (LEX)--------Windows|Mac (coming soon) ModDB------------------------Windows|Mac (coming soon) Fixes None. 2. My TLA-7 boulevards are not behaving like I expect. Businesses along them are showing right-turn-only commute routes that run long-distance (20-plus ticks) to an intersection or interchange where they turn around and come all of the way back and then go the other way on the other side. It appears that the TLA-7 does not really support two-sided property access. I'm using NAM 35. If there's any data you'd like to see, please let me know what to show (and how to acquire it). If TLA-7 is known to be buggy and is not to be fixed soon, then please let me know so I can replace it with TLA-5, which seems to be the ideal 2-sided avenue.
  3. Hello everyone, I open this new topic to let you know about my new project to create new textures for road networks in general (road, street and NWM). The same subject is opened on SC4D: Swiss Network Textures. There is very little full texture play to exploit them in the LE, which is why I start this work. I create textures for Swiss (CH) networks but also European because we use almost identical road signs. My main goal is simply to make textures overlays for the LotEditor (LE), I do not want to create textures for all NAM networks, but only a few in particular. In the future, when my pack is downloadable, you will be able to do what you want with the textures: modifications, mods, additions, etc ... My pack is basic and contains only simple orthogonal textures. Maybe in the future I will follow up with the diagonals, it takes a lot of time. For each type of network I assigned a code to identify more easily the types of textures / networks. I put most of the existing networks, Maxis and NAM, but I may have forgotten others. Here are the codes: Pictures: M01a : Click here M01b : Click here M02a : Click here M02b : Click here N07 : Click here N13 : Click here N20 : Click here P22 : Click here I apologize for presenting the Excel table in two parts, I have not found a better solution than that for now, I will see in the future if I find a more ergonomic solution in order to have the table with the links To see the pictures included in it. If you have any criticisms or suggestions you can let me know. Thank you for your attention, Aka
  4. Changing TuLEP Sidewalks?

Hey all, I have a question about the TuLEP lanes from the NAM. I was wondering if there is a way to replace the default sidewalk textures they come with (which look like beige tile floor) to use the same sidewalks that my sidewalk mod implements? The turn lanes are great, but getting them to blend into my surrounding infrastructure is an eyesore.
  5. So I've got a city that has an insane amount of traffic going thru it , the city it is going thru is very small, and can't handle it. I am wondering if there is any way I could create a 2 tile NWM viaduct to go over a north south bound motorway. Is this even possible?? Also is a 3 tile NWM viaduct possible??
  6. I don't think cars should drive like this on the highway. Is there anyway to fix this or am i doing/installed something wrong? This is also the problem for some NWM roads
  7. ONLY dashed TuLep

    Version 1

The -ONLY- dashed TuLep cosmetic mod is a combination of Blue Lighting's and Shadow Assassin's mods that were previously incompatible! This is only a texture mod so there is no need to replop anything. Credits go to Shadow Assassin for the dotted textures and Blue Lighting for the ONLY texture and Me for combining the two textures to make one. Give thanks to these guys! 8. Alrighty, lets get started! A few years back, Thianz made a mod that turned the networks into a grey ash color, like most streets in the U.S. The only problem with this, is that this was years ago, and doesn't include the RHW, NWM, some of the NAM or many normal network textures. The point of this mod is to make SimCity evermore realistic. While a lot of roads are asphalt/dark, here in the US and other places, more are concrete/grey. I myself will use and enjoy this mod very much, and We hope others will too. News 2/21/2016 - Completed 'draggable' road viaducts with a new shade of grey. New standard shade for the project. As of Thursday, February 4th, 2016, Very little work has been made since the last update. However, I'm thinking of starting work on this once more. Anyone still interested? The Grey Network Mod Team Myself Pictures! 2/12/16 - New road viaducts. Note: Some textures are not implemented yet. ___________________
  9. NWM Street Parking Add-on Set

    Version 1

This set of lots lets you plop sections of parallel and diagonal parking spaces (in the median of the roadway) on your Network Widening Mod AVE-6 and RD-4 road networks. It is based on Motokloss's street parking set of lots. Currently, only the two aforementioned road types and non-seasonal tree-lined lots are supported/included. If I find the time, the addition of at least seasonal tree and no-tree versions to match Motokloss's originals is on my to-do list for this mod. Dependencies To ensure the proper functionality, make sure the files mentioned below are installed in the plugins folder. Network Addon Mod, version 32.0 or later (with Network Widening Mod option installed) MS Parking Lots (Road Set) + Car Props

  13. Hi all! I am wondering if anyone can help me, I have two areas that are causing me troubles. I don't even know if what I want to do is possible. I'm trying to connect EL over Road 4 to EL over road (Maxis regular) crossing over an intersection, but it seems to elude me. What am I missing? I have the current NAM, did not choose "alternate" for EL and do have the puzzle piece that is supposed to connect EL over road to either EL over Rd4 or Ave, but the EL doesn't line up on that piece with the EL over Rd4, so I'm a bit lost. I have LHD, if that makes any difference... Also, in the second troublesome area, does anyone know how to connect EL over road, through at T intersection to just plain EL? I cannot get the puzzle piece to connect to the regular EL. If the two pictured configurations I have set up at the present are impossible, does anyone have any suggestions as to a better method or configuration I might try instead? Either way, thanks in advance!
  14. First of all, a great hello to the awesome community of Simtropolis and to you Noony Moose because I'm sure you're going to be one of the firsts to solve this. Well. Uninstalled NAM so to reinstall it and use the Euro Textures. I like them because they feel more consistent, IMO. For some reason everything worked well but RHW curves and lane shifts still have the american yellow inside line textures and obviously it looks pretty strange. Any opinions? Thanks in advance, dudes.
  15. Hello, This is the 1st time I am trying with NWM. I use NAM 32. 1. What is a Turning lane avenue? What is the significance of this "Turning"? 2. What does this 3-Lane Asymmetrical Road (ARD-3) do? Features I mean. 3. I made a road using 6-Lane Road (RD-6) and tried to cross it with a normal road and normal avenue. The normal road can cross it but the normal avenue cant. Is this correct? What to do so that a normal avenue can cross the RD-6? 4. How to cross a RD-6 with a RD-6 road? While I tried to cross a RD-6 with a RD-6, only one part of the horizontal RD-6 can cross the vertical RD-6. How to solve it? More questions will be updated later in this thread of mine. Thank you.
  16. Hi there, Been a while since I used the NMW networks, but just recently installed the NAM32 version of this, and when i place the starter pieces i get some strange effects when i drag the road network from it. Has anyone seen this before? I am using the standard euro road textures, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything. Any progress you can help me make will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, van
  17. Hi guys, Basically, I have the following problem. I have a NWM AVE-6 boulevard for express traffic, that is sided by two one-way roads for local traffic (an example in real life is the Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn, NYC). However, my commuters are preferring the OWR instead of the NWM AVE-6 I laid out for them. Now I know this is because OWR is considered faster than roads (which is the underlying network for the AVE-6), but I was wondering whether there is something I can do to force my commuters to take the AVE-6 instead. Or should I just demolish the OWR and replace it by a simple road?
  18. I have the NWM, I use the endless turning lane and avenue networks extensively in my cities with no issues. However, the 4 lane medianless road as well as the one way road add ons and 6 lane medianless avenue seem to cause crashes. It doesn't crash right away, in fact there is no problem laying down the network and playing. Once I save the tile though, The city will CTD immediately every time after I add these roadways. I wasn't sure if anyone else had this issue, if so please tell me what you did to remedy it.
  19. Introducing NAM Hotfix Package Current Version: 301 (for NAM Version 30), released 13 April 2012 Download Link In order to streamline the process of releasing bugfixes and other minor updates between releases, the NAM Team is now introducing the NAM Hotfix Package. The NAM Hotfix Package combines fixes for issues reported with the most recent version of the NAM and its periphery plugins (e.g. RHW, NWM, etc.), and compiles them cumulatively into one single, unified package. Through this package, we can now include Controller/RUL-related fixes that we formerly had considerable difficulty distributing between releases. The Hotfix Package effectively replaces the confusingly named "NAM Essentials" package. The first NAM Hotfix Package release for NAM Version 30, Hotfix Package 301, is now available, and can be picked up here. Both a Windows installer and all the files necessary for a manual install (e.g. for MacOS users) are contained within the package. It may beinstalled directly over top of your existing NAM installation. It contains the following fixes/features: Updates NAM Controller to Version r139 (April 13, 2012). Arrows on preview model for OneWayRoad Viaduct Orthogonal-Diagonal Transition have been corrected. Road-ending-in-Tram-ON-Road T-Intersection piece now plops the correct direction. ERHW-over-RHW diagonal pieces that previously did not properly plop now function properly. Preview models for RealHighway RHW-6S-to-4 Type B and C Cosmetic Transitions are now properly aligned. Preview model for RHW-6S Type E1 Entrance Ramp (Exit Ramp in LHD) is now properly aligned. RHW Narrow Exit Lane Overplop for RHW-4 Type A1 Wide Ramp has been disabled. (It will not function correctly.) All previously issued path fixes for RealHighway (RHW) Version 5.0 (RHW-3 Dual Type A1 Ramp). Updates to Road, OneWayRoad and Avenue Viaduct-over-GHSR models are included. LHD path fixes, including for the Avenue Roundabouts, revamped Diagonal Maxis Highway over Diagonal Avenue interchanges, and numerous URail, Tram-in-Road, and Tram-on-Street pieces. All previously issued path and texture fixes for Network Widening Mod (NWM) Version 2.0. Dependencies Network Addon Mod Version 30 (Windows | MacOS) (Optional) Most recent versions of HSRP, NWM, RHW and SAM (needed for HSRP, NWM, RHW and SAM fixes, respectively). Installation and Other Frequently Asked Questions This NAM Hotfix Package is intended to be installed directly over your existing NAM installation. The Hotfix is not a Core release. It only contains the files necessary to fix all that is noted in the above feature list. Do not uninstall your existing NAM version when installing a Hotfix Package. More specific instructions on installation may be found on the description page for the download, and in the Readme. The NAM Core itself will generally not be updated in the wake of Hotfix Package releases (the current NAM Version 30 upload does not include the Hotfix already applied. The purpose of the Hotfix Package is to allow us to be able to issue fixes without having to update the Core and distribute them in a more unified manner than easily-lost forum attachments spread all over the place. -The NAM Team
  20. Saw in the NWM Support Thread thread: "All NWM networks are able to intersect MIS Ramps and RHW-2s, and be able to go underneath Elevated RHWs. Transitions between NWM and RHW networks are not possible at this time, however, and are planned for future updates." But I built an elevated RHW-6 and tried running some NWM underneath it, like the TLA-7 in the screenshot, and I can't stop them from colliding, whether I do the RHW first, or the NWM. Is there a trick to this? I'd post in that support thread, but at 156 pages I don't want to get lost Cheers
