Beverly Apartments, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Bring some retro mid-century glamour to your cities with Beverly Apartments. It is inspired by a real-life US west coast building which was originally designed as an office building, but with its distinctive, cantilievered, bucket-shaped balconies, was ripe for a residential re-purposing in SC4. In game it is offered as an R§§ apartment. The apartments are mostly 1 bedroom, but with wide curtain glass windows feel spacious and airy. The ground floor and lower ground floors are reserved for shops and gallery spaces. Secure underground parking and a pool complete the ammenities for all the residents. These apartments are presented in 2 options: a 4x2 and a 4x3 lot. --------------------------------------- STATS R§§: Lot size : 4x2 & 4x3 Growth Stage: 6 (Medium & High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: §565 Capacity Satisfied: R§ 1,589, R§§ 878 Pollution: 7 (Air)/ 3 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 12 Mwh Water Consumed: 33 Gal/Month Building Style: Houston/Euro/NY/Chicago Occupant Group: Medium Wealth Residential Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot File! If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/) --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT PARKING TEXTURES: As these models contain garaged underground parking, the lots do not come with parking textures. If you wish to add acres of parking or change the concrete textures, please use the lot editor to do so. --------------------------------------- DEPENDENCIES: This lot requires no external dependencies. --------------------------------------- To install, simply unzip the contents of this file into your plugins folder. 2. WanWan Apartments

    Version 1.0.0

WanWan Apartments, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Inspired by the old Won Won Apartments on the Asian Tileset in SC3000, Wan Wan apartments have that real retro vibe of 1980's apartment buildings. These are tall apartment complexes come in at 12 floors to capture the views and are solidly constructed from brick and coloured concrete infill panels. Each building also has underground parking, there are two apartments on the ground floor, four apartments per floor from floors 1 through 9, and the four apartments on 11th and 12th floor apartments are 2 story penthouses with a lovely sun-terrace to lie down and soak up the rays before the 1990's rolled around and everyone was told not to sun-bake. This version is not a 100% accurate copy, but it is true to the language of the architectural style of the original building and this is simply one that I made for myself, but have decided to share with the community. The lot and models come in a few variations: all of them are growable R§§ iterations and there are both orthogonal - and - because it's a SC3000 building, a 45 degree version as well. The larger 6x6 and 8x8 lots are landscaped, and to help these grow, use the CTRL key while zoning. All lots are designed to grow on the Houston and Euro tilesets only. --------------------------------------- STATS R§§ Orthogonal: Lot size : 2x2 & 2x3 Growth Stage: 6 & 7 (Medium & High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: §697 Capacity Satisfied: R§ 929, R§§ 514 Pollution: 4 (Air)/ 2 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 7 Mwh Water Consumed: 20 Gal/Month Building Style: Houston/Euro Occupant Group: Medium Wealth Residential Building STATS R§§ DIAGONAL: Lot size : 6x6 and 8x8. In 1915, Marion Barton Skaggs purchased his father's 576-square-foot (53.5 m2) grocery store in American Falls, Idaho, for 1,089. By 1926, he had opened 428 Skaggs stores in 10 states. In the 1930s Safeway introduced produce pricing by the pound, adding “sell by” dates on perishables to assure freshness, nutritional labeling, even some of the first parking lots. Today, Safeway rakes in annual sales of an estimated sales $41 billion. After merging with the Albertson's supermarket chain, it employs over 250,000 people at more than 2,200 stores, making it the second largest supermarket chain in North America and the 11th largest retailer in the United States. This BAT was originally created by Bobbo662 (aka B62). Unfortunately, due to real life circumstances, he was unable to finish the lot. He graciously handed his work over to me to finish and subsequently upload for yall. For comments/feedback/critique/praise visit my lot thread or drop me a pm. I'd be happy to help. 4. First Federal Bank

    Version 1.0.0

Former First Federal Savings and Loan California, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- It's not only "old" buildings that are demolished in the name of the progress. This building was constructed in 1959 and used to stand at the corner of Hollywood and Highland Ave, Los Angeles. It formed and framed a famous part of the view from Graumans Chinese Theatre down Hollywood Blvd. It was demolished in the late 80s for the Hollywood & Highland project (i.e. where the Academy awards are filmed now). While this is not an exact recration of the old First Federal Bank, it is a good example of the Southern Californian mid-century, heavy-set, mid-rise office building. The beauty of these buildings is sheer quality of their materials: polished limestone with contrasting highly polished granite base, crittal steel windows and polished marble forecourts, but "progress", as well as the need to expensively retro-fit many mid-century buildings in shaky California saw these gems consigned to the wrecking ball. To make it a little bit different, I've angled it 45 degrees for a corner lot as there really aren't many such taller buildings in this game and by doing this it complements a lot of the taller angled residentials from Sim Fox, Bixel, HKABT et al. This building is offered as a growable high-wealth mid-rise building on all tilesets. It grows easily, but as it is limited to a 4x4 corner lot (there is one for both left and right corners) it isn't weedy. Hold the CTRL key while zoning to ensure that you get the lot size. Stats, links and dependencies are listed below. --------------------------------------- STATS (CO§§§): Growth Stage: 6&7 (medium and high density zones) Bulldoze Cost: §869 Capacity Satisfied: CO§§ 2,479, CO§§§ 1,735 Pollution: 10 (Air)/ 10 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 70 Mwh Water Consumed: 758 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: Commercial Office Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. 5. The Bon Marche

The Bon Marche, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- The Bon Marche (or the 'Good Market' / 'Good Deal' depending on how loose your translation is) was a department store chain launched in Seattle, WA. By the time it has been taken over by Macy's in 2005, it had about 50 stores in the North-West of the US. The Bon Marche really had its heyday from the late 1960's - 1990's. Many of the buildings went on to become anchor stores for surrounding mall developments. This building is a retro styled department store that was a similar design to many of their buildings around Washington state. Given they were purpose built spaces, Macy's thankfully didn't bulldoze the structures when they took over the chain and the buildings still stand today. I have provided two CS§§ lots with this download - one is a 4x4 lot that is great for down-town areas and the other is a 6x6 lot more suited to a suburban application. Use the CTRL while zoning to assist growth. Stats, links and dependencies are listed below. --------------------------------------- STATS (CS§§) FOR ALL LOTS: Growth Stage: 1 & 3 (low, medium and high density zones) Bulldoze Cost: § 288 Capacity Satisfied: CS§ 1,553 | CS§§ 391 Pollution: 14 (Air)/ 9 (Water)/ 19 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 32 Mwh Water Consumed: 376 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago / NewYork / Houston / Euro Occupant Group: Commercial Services Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. 6. American City Bank

    Version 1.0.0

American City Bank, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- The American City Bank was an iconic mid-century gem located in Century City Los Angeles. The Bank itself failed in 1983 and was taken over by a consortium of banks. This BAT is a scaled down version of the main branch (in order to fit it onto a lot 4 tiles wide) which was built in 1959 at a cost of $2.5M and features an abstract mural on the second floor, very wide, plate-glass windows, cantilevered construction and a quaint little moat surrounding the bank building. Another quaint, but hideously expensive, feature was the electronic thermometer on the street sign. During the mid 20th century, it was surprisingly common on the US West Coast for bank buildings to be surrounded by water. Of course, if these buildings still survive today, these moats have long been filled in given how much maintenance they would require in shaky, drought-stricken California. In game it is offered as a high-wealth commercial services building growing on all tilesets and densities on a 4x3 or 4x4 lot. As for the actual building, after having fallen into disrepair, it was demolished about 15 years ago. A shame really, as this sort of architecture is truly unique. Stats, links and dependencies are listed below. --------------------------------------- STATS: Growth Stage: 3 (low/medium and high density zones - 4x3 & 4x4 lot size) Bulldoze Cost: § 261 Capacity Satisfied: CS§ 1,132, CS§§ 285, CS§§§116 Pollution: 7 (Air)/ 5 (Water)/ 10 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 32 Mwh Water Consumed: 289 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: Commercial Services Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. 8. I wasn't sure where else to put this, but I wanted to share it anyway as I recently went in and fixed my NES and figured, why not distribute this knowledge! now I won't even go into details why you shouldn't do this unless you know what you're doing, the primary reason being, you can make your console a paperweight if you aren't careful. with that out of the way let's begin. first here's the tools you need. A long phillips screw driver A pair of pliers a pair of tweezers a multimeter Optional: helping hands with magnifying glass for more detailed repairs (Experts only) ok first let's have a look at the console we're going to open up and work on. red light = powers on, That's a good sign! that means it has power! Displays image, also a good sign, however... Oh no! something's not working right... alright let's get this started then! first, see if the cart is connecting ok, in this case I was using a copy of super mario world, cartridge goes into the front like so. after some jiggling I got a clear picture again, but this is indicative of a bad connection with the cartridge, after a quick cleaning of the cartridge the issue persists so let's open it up. Step 1: Remove the six screws on the bottom (circled in red) this is where you need the long phillips. Step 2: take the bottom off the case revealing the motherboard and insides. Then remove the screws to remove the top RF shield (this is to prevent interference with the console and the game via radio frequency, something still used today.), so remember to put it back during re-assembly. at this point you can access and clean the cartridge connector easily and try the game again (making sure both are clean, I reccomend rubbing alcohol and Q tips, and or a paper towel and an old credit card that you can slide in there. Step 3: since that didn't work I can only assume it's a bad cartridge connector, After a week of waiting around I received a replacement in the mail, typically 8 to 10 usd on ebay (including shipping), so we remove the motherboard from the console. Step 4: remove the bottom shield. it should slide right off revealing the motherboard. this is what a NES actually looks like on the inside, see that black thing on the bottom, that's the cartridge connector, after all the disassembly it should just slide off with some effort (be careful but it's not easy to disconnect). also at this point if you're careful, you can disable the NES lockout chip (known as the 10 NES chip), by breaking the 4th pin of the chip circled in red (4th on the bottom facing the capacitors) again, 10 nes disabling, EXPERTS ONLY, do this if you know what you're doing (a pair of wire cutters works well here if they're thin, also the helping hands to steady the board and magnify for precision, one wrong move and your NES is dead.) I've already done so previously and it works fine. this is what the cartridge connector looks like it's pretty straight forward from this point on, after you put your new connector onto the board (same place you removed the old one from), just follow the steps in reverse, and replace all the screws (you kept your screws right?) and viola! it works, this is one of the easier repairs to do, but don't do it if you don't know what you're doing, consult a professional. this has been SpookyZalost... Signing off!

Awwwww yeah. Just look at 'em. I developed a brief infatuation with 40s-50s theaters a while back after driving past the real world Watts Theater of this pack, and I proceeded to model quite a few of them. This pack contains 4 of the best from that group. I tried to be as faithful to the originals as I could while still making them useful for SC4. Included: Eureka Theater - Batesville, MS (third screenshot) Normal Theater - Normal, IL (fourth screenshot) North Bend Theater - North Bend, WA (fifth screenshot) Watts Theater - Osage, IA (sixth screenshot) All lots are 1x3, CS$$, and are both growable and ploppable. Night scenes are provided in both Darknite and Maxisnite varieties. The darknite scene requires Simfox's mod available here. Download and install only one of the two varieties at a time. I mean it, only one. You can't have it all, so just come to grips with that now. Here's hoping you enjoy these. Please leave feedback below! Thank you all for your support. Welcome to Mt. Sterling, Missouri! I will be adding photos of the 'Sim' City in the near future... but in the meantime, here are some teasers I created for this magical forgotten town of yesteryear. Please note: My FICTIONAL Mt. Sterling is not in any way affiliated to the real Mt. Sterling in Missouri in geography or scope. No actual representation beyond the name is intentional. Enjoy!
