Hi there, This time I made something typical for suburbs. It's a lot with a cul-de-sac. It contains semidetached houses with some trees and flowers. It's a ploppale landmark lot (6x7). Beechworth Townhouse Diagonals and Cul-de-Sac, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This is the diagonal and cul-de-sac versions of the Beechworth Townhouses released earlier. These townhouses are arranged in a cul-de-sac as you often see in the real world. This enables developers to squeeze in the highest number of residents on the smallest amount of land. Because these are medium density dwellings on a somewhat common custom lot size, unlike the previous Cul-de-Sac mods I have released, I have not network enabled these lots. However I have used existing overhanging props to simulate driveways that join a road. The lot size is 3x6. To get these to grow, select the Houston Tileset and use the CTRL key while zoning medium or high density. Functional Cul-de-sacs, VOL2, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Following on from the Functional Cul-de-sac (Vol1 release), I present another type of cul-de-sac: the housing estate, or master-planned community. In these sorts developments, a developer will purchase a large tract of land and provide all of the services: roads, curbs, gutters, water, sewerage, street trees, street paving and street lights. The developer will then subdivide the land, build the houses to a specific set of designs and then sell off these individual homes and allotments to buyers. The result is a ready-made community with HOA, uniform streets, houses and street-scapes. They are supposed to look different from the surrounding neighborhoods and prove very popular with young families and first-time home buyers. The growable lots contained in this download mimic these sorts of developments: each lot is 6.5 acres with many cul-de-sacs, curving and diagonal streets, decorative ponds and open community spaces all with brand new houses aligned to these streets. The houses all come from real house plans from a Texas home builder who builds many such estates. Surprisingly, no such lots exist in SC4 and these streets are all network enabled. The two 10x10 lots contained within this download will provide sufficient variety to give an homogenous new suburb look. They can be zoned together or spaced apart with grass & park areas between the 10x10 lots to mimic the sort of community facilities many of these housing estates provide. --------------------------------------- WHAT THIS DOWNLOAD DOES: This download provides two new growable lots of a 10x10 size. Each of the lots is network enabled in various spots to connect seamlessly to the surrounding streets and roads. Each lot is restricted to grow ONLY on low-density zoning on the Houston and Euro tilesets and will not grow on medium or high density zones. Each lot has a different arrangement of medium wealth houses and a uniformity of street trees and plantings. Both of the lots have identical stats meaning that the game will not favour one type over the other. The population numbers of the lots conform roughly to Maxis' low-density formulae of approximately 12-20 residents per house. These lots cannot accidentally grow; you must use the CTRL key while zoning. --------------------------------------- HOW TO USE THIS DOWNLOAD: There is nothing especially tricky to get this to work. Just make sure you have the dependencies, unzip and install to your plugins and then use the CTRL key while zoning low density residential to get a lot that is 10 tiles wide and 10 tiles deep. --------------------------------------- WHAT THIS DOWNLOAD DOES NOT DO: This is not a mod, so it will not alter the standard street ends that either come with the base game, are installed with the NAM or are installed with any other cul-de-sac mod. This will not interfere with, nor conform to, SAM street types. These lots use CPs textures (which differ from the base game) to ensure that these housing estates have their own unique look, right down to the street textures. --------------------------------------- IMPORTANT NOTES - READ!!!!!: With anything new, it is important to spell out a few caveats: * Because these lots are network enabled, these lots will never upgrade. I recommend using them in conjunction with standard zoning to achieve vibrant, realistic suburbs that are sustainable. * Because these lots are network enabled, if they abandon, they will not recover: you will need to correct the issues that caused abandonment (crime, jobs, commute, demand), bulldoze the lot and let a new one grow. * I have chosen the 10x10 lot size deliberately to be a unique lot size that doesn't compete with other custom lots, but if you have other 10x10 low-density medium residential lots in your plugins, they may grow instead of these. * I have chosen the 10x10 lot size deliberately to ensure that the network enabling doesn't interfere with the NAM drag patterns for creating curves, fractional angles and so on. My testing so far has indicated that this is unlikely to happen, however, in certain situations and placements you may find that the game attemts to draw FAR or curved streets. In the highly unlikely event event that it occurs, it's not a big deal, just bulldoze the surrounding streets to alter the pattern. * Once the lot has grown, if you don't see cars, automata, etc using the lot, just drag the street tool through the lot (be sure to use the pre-planned streets as your guide) and the automata will soon follow. --------------------------------------- Like all of my work, these are suited to both CAM and non CAM cities alike. Functional Cul-de-sacs, SIDEWALK OVER-RIDES VOL1, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Firstly, a massive thank you to BartonThinks who provided the texture pieces that enable this mod to be compatible with CP SCILT, and hence, many varied sidewalk over-ride mods. Ever since SimCity 4 was released, suburban cul-de-sacs have been problematic. The base game just terminated streets with a little yellow and black barrier, until quirlix made the cul de sac textures that formed the basis of the way the NAM terminates dead end streets. There are other mods, like the larger cul-de-sac mod, by Marsh, but this also overrides the street roundabout textures and all such mods are typically both an over-ride and a blunt instrument that has an "all or nothing" type set up. Don't get me wrong, each of these mods is fantastic and I use them, and love them. But one thing the mods cannot do is unify the street trees along the length of the cul-de-sac, nor can they get the arrangement of houses to align around the cul-de-sac end. That is where this download is useful. --------------------------------------- WHAT THIS DOWNLOAD DOES: This download provides functional cul-de-sacs and is for users who have use various SIDEWALK over-ride mods. A set of near-identical lots for those who use MAXIS sidewalks is available separately. This download provides ten new growable lots of a 5x8 size. Each of the lots is network enabled to connect seamlessly to the surrounding streets and roads. Each lot is restricted to grow ONLY on low-density zoning and will not grow on medium or high density zones. Each lot has a different arrangement of medium wealth houses and a uniformity of street trees. The streets are named after the tree which grows on them. Each lot is restricted to one (or more) of the four tilesets giving you control over what grows where. Apart from the tileset, all of the lots have identical stats meaning that the game will not favour one type over the other. The population numbers of the lots conform roughly to Maxis' low-density formulae of approximately 12-20 residents per house. These lots cannot accidentally grow; you must use the CTRL key while zoning. The lots and tilesets are grouped into styles: Gascooker's UK suburban series; CP's 19th Century American suburban series and my predominantly 20th Century suburban houses with attached garages. --------------------------------------- HOW TO USE THIS DOWNLOAD: There is nothing especially tricky to get this to work. Just make sure you have the dependencies, unzip and install to your plugins and then use the CTRL key while zoning low density residential to get a lot that is 5 tiles wide and 8 tiles deep. I'm using NAM 36 (first time user) but I cannot figure out how to get cul-de-sacs to work. Whenever I saw tutorial videos and screenshots for SC4, I would see the draggable streets and roads end in a cul-de-sac by default, but my game doesn't do that (just the classic dead end). When I did the install, I did the complete install. I've checked again looking through the custom install and don't see a checkbox for it there. When I play with included SAM features, those skins do the cul-de-sacs, but not the original Maxis roads. Is this feature not a part of the NAM or am I missing something? Thanks!

Hello Currently I have cul de sacs in SimCity 4 that look like the first image. However, there is a cul de sac in my area (on the second image, Ranch Ave) that has a nice big tree in the middle to drive around. Do cul de sacs like this exist in SC4? I tried the search but couldn't find much. Also (in image 3) is there any other way to do a roundabout, or is that the best/only way? Thanks

Hello, I know that NAM 35 has Cul De Sac at the end of street and road. But it does not shows in-game. Am I missing something?

STEAM Workshop links now available in download options! With these two assets, one gravel roads and one regular, you can build perfectly circular culs-de-sac for those suburban neighborhoods. They are made to be the smallest possible radius curves for each road type and include a single large tree in the center. They can be attached to one another or used single. Please note that due to the small size of the circles you cannot attach roads to them on the diagonals, but only on the 3 remaining orthogonal points and the provided road stubs. More detailed and clear instructions are included in the images and in the download. Due to limitations the regular road versions cannot be made to be the same size as the gravel ones. Sorry. Asset details follow. Regular Cost: 1000 Size:8x12 Road types used: One-way roads for the roundabout, and two lane road for the stub. Gravel Cost: 450 Size:6x12 Road types used: Gravel. duh. To install, unzip file, then move the crp files into \Users\*YOU*\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Assets Replace *YOU* with whatever your user account name is on your machine.
