Short Description: A while ago, a collection of Italian-style lots – the so-called Italian Collection, by simcity4ever88 – has been restored by the moderators of Simtropolis Exchange because the files had been stored on an off-site host which is not available anymore. After downloading this collection, I realized that it contains a huge collection (more than 1,000 lots!) of partially really beautiful buildings. Unfortunately, however, some of them are really poorly modded, up to the point that they may freeze SimCity 4 upon scrolling over them in the in-game menu, and, occasionally, the lotting isn’t much better. Therefore, I’ve improved both lotting and modding of some of these buildings. Real life doesn’t allow me to do this on a regular pace, but I’ve had a little time to work on some of the lots. This is a collection of several growable standalone apartments fitting well in suburban or slightly urban settings, with different sizes and different amounts of inhabitants. Contrarily to other buildings of the Italian Collection, these buildings don’t have a “typically Mediterranean” look; they can be combined with various other styles. Something that was sticking out somewhat was that with most buildings, the garages were built into the buildings themselves. Only occasionally, I needed to put in an extra garage or parking lot. This may not sound like something unique, but it gave me much trouble designing the lots: because it was always necessary to place the building itself on a large plaza, an entrance alone doesn’t suffice. This in turn occasionally causes the lot design to be repetitive and one-sided; I couldn’t avoid that. All lots have been modified to improve the lotting and modding a bit. They have been fixed now, but unfortunately, if you are having any version below v2.2 (which has been uploaded on June 28th, 2020), this requires you to update it in order to reflect the changes in-game. Please check the link to the Italian Collection again on what you need to do to update it, or download the full v2.2 or higher, uninstall any old version, and install the new version. If you are interested in the Italian Collection or have downloaded several of my relots, you may want to follow the Italian Collection - I can't guarantee that it's free from graphical glitches, it may be updated again in the future. How to properly install the Italian Collection: Make sure to think twice before just tossing all files coming with the Italian Collection into your Plugins folder. You may obtain hundreds of lots in your game menu that you cannot (or don’t want to) make use of them; and some of them are growables that you can’t control. Please take yourself time to read these instructions. Step 1: Download the Italian Collection and unpack all files; or check if you have installed the full v2.2, and if not, download the update. Step 2: Look into all subfolders of the Italian Collection and decide for yourself if you want to keep the buildings/lots you are getting – I’m literally talking about more than 1,000 lots! If not, just remove the corresponding files with the file extension .SC4Lot. You can remove or keep all of these files as it fits you best, this won’t affect the functionality of my plugin. You only need to keep all files with the file extension .dat, .SC4Model, and .SC4Desc. To uninstall this plugin, please bulldoze all instances of these apartment lots in your cities and then remove all files coming with this plugin from your Plugins folder. How to use the blocker files: All files with a file name starting with zBlocker will (as long as they load last) override the content in their respective counterpart file, making the growth of the residential buildings impossible. For the sake of good organization, I’ve placed all files with blockers in their own folders. As already mentioned, the purpose of these files is to give you more control over letting them grow or not. To make sure that these buildings grow, just remove the blocker files from your Plugins folder. To block these buildings, just put them back into a place where you can make sure that they load last (ideally in the folder zBuilding Blockers; you may want to keep the file name like this to make sure the folder loads after the folder with the normally growable lots). Compatibility: This plugin should be compatible with all versions of SimCity 4. If not, please feel free to tell me.
