  1. Planet Sim

    Version 2.0.0

    9,676 Downloads

A bit late to the party, my first map*. Made using Google and Paint.net, it's basic, mostly flat and fairly large. Scale was beaten up and left for dead. *(Not even my first Big Earth Map! My bad - Please also see "Another Big Earth Map" too)
  2. Male and Female

    Version 1.0.0

    66 Downloads

Region maps of the male and female gender symbols. The symbol itself is the water, while the rest in flat land. Perfect for city names named after males and females you may know, male or female game character city names, or any other masculine or feminine city names.
  3. Raven Bay

    Version 1.3

    13,392 Downloads

Raven Bay is the last map in a series of five that I set out to do for Cities Skylines. This is a European themed map. It has a rather large, open flat area for building a gigantic, sprawling city. It has plenty of resources with oil being the exception due to it's hideous color. Set amidst a small mountain range this coastal map has vibrant farmland, one large flowing river, a fully laid out highway system with interchanges and a full rail system. I wanted to create the vibe of a large interconnected European Costal city. For those new to the game. There are several areas that have highway off ramps acting as roads. These are just placeholders to show where the roads can go. You can choose to upgrade them where they are to any other type of road or just bulldoze and make your own. (Note) Upgrading to the largest wide avenues might affect some treelines. They were drawn in using the highway width as a guidelines so most roads shouldn't affect the trees. Steam link : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=451151642 To install the map: 1. Download the zip file. 2. Unzip the contents to the folder: AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Maps 3. Play! This Color Correction http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=417935657 is used in a few screenshots. The Moving Sun mod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=420230361 was also used on some screenshots I also recommend http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=403798635 for unlocking 25 tiles. You can play without it but you'll miss out on quite a bit of the map. All of my maps are hand crafted with loving care and designed with the city builder in mind. Let me know if you spot any issues and I would love to see any cities made on this map so shoot me a link or leave it in comments. Enjoy!
  4. Maio, Cape Verde

    Version 1.0.0

    781 Downloads

Maio is the easternmost of the Sotavento islands of Cape Verde. Maio is located south of the island of Boa Vistaand east of Santiago. The island is known for its sandy beaches and large forest, which is unusual for Cape Verde. This map is nowhere near as challenging as my Jan Mayen map, however, just as much work went into it. This map has an incoming/outcoming railroad connection, as-well as some left-over mining railroads in the mountainous area. One mini-mountain range has a small railroad bridge, used to connect the two ore-filled hills together (not present IRL). Tropical theme, right-hand drive.
  5. DEMO Region - Isle 001

    Version Demo@1.0-r0

    290 Downloads

Hello people! My name is Seb and today I am sharing with you a Region I just began to create. The name is a little bit odd... It might change as the region isn't complete yet. So the idea of the map I am building is to make it a large island with many medium/large sized islands on the other sides. Also, the coasts are very high and the most flat part is at the top of those cliffes. So now, let take a look at the work wich has been done yet. 7. Crescendo Cove

    Version 1.1.0

    4,145 Downloads

Crescendo Cove is a map I designed specifically for myself to build on. I wanted to build a map with a little bit of everything but flat and open enough to build a gigantic metropolis. There are roads and rail leading straight up to mountain sides, these are intended to tunnel through to other areas of the map or just a shortcut. Feel free to run them however you like but beware, the terrain is built around the road and rail network in a few areas and if you delete a section it may never go back like it was again..) Steam link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=467920036 Remember to review if you like! Support your modders and artists! This will probably be my last map for quite awhile. Thanks for all the positive feedback on all the other ones and enjoy! To install the map: 1. Download the zip file. 2. Unzip the contents to the folder: AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Maps 3. Play! If you want non European buildings to grow, there is this now. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=456408505 or check out his theme by districts beta, great stuff! These mods were used in some or all of the screenshots. The Moving Sun mod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=420230361 The Road Color Changer mod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=417585852 The No Pillar mod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=409073164 f I also recommend http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=403798635 for unlocking 25 tiles These modders created all or parts, or provided inspiration for the highway assets that went into making this. 8. Flatlands

    Version 1.0.2

    1,767 Downloads

A large perfectly flat map with lots of resources. Lightly inspired by New York City. Rail and highway networks are grid ready for those who like to build dense cities. *note : because of the flatness of the map hydro dams may be difficult to build. Watch your bridge connections up river as they may flood out. Update: River flow has been fixed for those who may have downloaded this before.
  9. Cinder Mountain Valley

    Version 1.0

    4,094 Downloads

A large valley among the Cinder mountain range with raging whitewater rivers, a lake at the base of Mount Cinder and many elevations to challenge the city builder while still feeling natural with adequate flat land. All of my maps are hand crafted with loving care and designed with the city builder in mind. Let me know if you spot any issues and I would love to see any cities made on this map so shoot me a link or leave it in comments. Enjoy! Steam link http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=439110575 This color correction http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=417935657 looks amazing on this map. Some screenshots have this enabled.
  10. Fury Island

    Version 1.1

    5,084 Downloads

Fury Island has huge waterfalls, rushing rivers, lush forests and varied elevations to provide a challenge, although there is quite a bit of flat land to build a pretty massive city. This is my first map and went through quite a few variations but I'm pretty happy with the overall atmosphere now. If your computer can handle it, I recommend one of the unlock more tiles mods as there is something interesting on just about every tile. All of my maps are hand crafted with loving care and designed with the city builder in mind. Let me know if you spot any issues and I would love to see any cities made on this map so shoot me a link or leave it in a review. Enjoy! To install the map: 1. Download the zip file. 2. See images for how to clear the water Free to use, mod, share, apart from any valve/steam platform : mod for free, not for 25% Author LV
  12. Utopia

The Simulations (Traffic, Health, Energy etc) still work logical. The Engine Works very nice, also on a middleclass pc. 14 800 000 Citizens. + 800 000.– Moding: Very easy Moding also for me as an Mod Beginner. There are now ca 50 Mods in use. Realistic Highways, Tons of Parcs, Houses, even a Monorail and an new Metro Layout. FUN!
  13. Hey guys, this is my first post here, so if this is in the wrong section, well you know, I am not doing this on purpose. Anyways, I have downloaded a region mod, this one to be specific: I also have SC4 Mapper 2013, and got the region made that way. However, seeing as that is the only way to get this region made according to my knowledge (The ol' "Ctrl + Shift + Alt + R" thing doesn't work for this map since it's no grayscale), I know of no other way of getting this particular one made. Now the problem is, the region seems to work fine except for one little thing. The terrain. Tampa Bay is my home area, and I can confirm that there are no mountains, hills or cliffs, or at least not as extreme as the following image. What I mean is take a look at this: http://s27.postimg.org/vymusub0j/Untitled.png It is supposed to look like this, no mountains or cliffs whatsoever: http://community.simtropolis.com/index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=screenshot&record=81438&id=22171&full=1 Now, I have never had this problem when using maps that have a grayscale and using that ol' "Ctrl + Shift + Alt + R" trick to render it. Does anybody have a guide to somehow convert .SC4M to grayscale, or if not (or if so but it simply doesn't work by me) then an idea on how to fix this problem? I would like to refrain from flattening every city tile one little piece at a time, I have patience, but come on, there has to be an easier/better way. Thanks for the help if you can, this is my first regional problem I have ran into with a custom one, and I hope the last!
  14. Diamond Valley Region Map

    Version 2.0

    776 Downloads

Update: Ver 2.0 is out. Total redesign of the config.bmp file has been done in Ver 2.0. Hello Mayors So this is my 1st upload... A region map of a fictitious region called Diamond Valley. 1st of all I am so sorry as the preview image looks a bit odd.. That's the best I can do as I took multiple screenshots & then merged them together. This is a elegant region map which is land-locked in the Northern sides and then water bodies starts from the North-western area and North-eastern area with full water bodies in its South. Initially I planned to have high mountains in the North but then I decided that if I or you want mountains then we can use the terra-forming tools to achieve that. Files included (in .zip format) config.bmp regions.bmp (grayscale) Please rate it if you like it and if you have any suggestions or both +ve/-ve criticism then do let me know that as well. If you need any help then also leave your comments here. Thank you Update: OK updated another preview image after removing those 3 ugly blocks... This screenshot is also not perfect but I hope you will understand that Basic Tutorial to upload & render a region map downloaded from STEX 1. Go to your region folder and create a folder called Diamond Valley. 2. Place the config.bmp and regions.bmp files in that folder. 3. Start or restart SC4. 4. Create a new region called Diamond Valley. A new region will be created. 5. Now load another default region like Fairview or Timbuktu. 6. Now again load my region Diamond Valley. 7. Now press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+R and from the Windows browser that pops up select the regions.bmp by going through the correct paths. 8. After you have selected regions.bmp, click OK. 9. The rendering will start. I again repeat that if anybody is facing any problem then do let me know.
  15. Journey.zip

    Version

    1,415 Downloads

Welcome to Journey. +++ While I was looking for maps on the several different exchanges for SimCity 4 I came to the realization, there are no maps anywhere that fit all of my criteria. Things I need from a map: I need to be able to use diggers no less than 15 meters all over the map. My rivers cannot be too deep. My rivers cannot be too shallow. My regions cannot be absolutely flat, that is just boring. I need rivers everywhere so that ferries can be relevant. I need enough level(but not completely flat) ground so that I can have my very large cities (2 or more tiles large) Journey meets all of those requirements. +++ There are things journey is missing however, it is missing an ocean front and lakes. I ususally just use a pond kit or ploppable water for lakes, so that one is okay(for me). Can't do anything about an ocean on this map though(I usually don't like to make too much of the map covered in water, can't build cities on water.) This map is not real in any way shape or form BUT it is very playable. Inside of this .zip file you will find this readme, the 1281X1281(5X5 large tiles or 20X20 small tiles(for SC4Terraformer purposes))config.bmp and the Journey.SC4M file and a couple of screen shots. The instructions for install are in the readme.
  16. Hi, I have downloaded the Aberdeen map created by izidor44 last night. Today I followed the instructions at the 'uploading maps for ST' thread, all the way to the actual file import to the Terraformer. Here comes the issue: The region uploaded to the terraformer is literally flat and no new files are made when I try to save it into the region folder. What went wrong? Is the .sc4m file broken? Am i doing something wrong?
  17. Flat Square Island

    Version 1.0

    2,963 Downloads

It's a very simple, square-ish and almost flat map for Cities XL 2012, replacing either BigIsland_01 (The Tropical Island) or BigIsland_02 (The Two Sisters) or both, depending on which files you unpack. The terrain looks better on the former, but the latter is probably a more useful replacement. It has custom textures, lots of place to build, a coast all around for placing ports (or blueprints built on water, like the Alcatraz or oil platform), and fertility everywhere. The Tropical Island version also has oil everywhere. Both have a fair bit of vacation areas from the start. Like the default islands, it has no road or rail connections anywhere, so you WILL need ports and airports. It has no ground water by default in the normal game, just like the normal island, BUT if you use Neidhard's resource enabler ( http://www.file-upload.net/download-2360525/mod_requied-for-new-maps.rar.html ) then you'll have underground water reserves everywhere too. It's up to you exactly how much you want to cheat, basically. Personally I'd think an island would get plenty of rainfall to have water for its people, but you can also take it as just a desert island and import your water if you prefer it that way. Or you can use the sandbox mod buildings to give you water. The same resource enabler will also give you oil everywhere on The Two Sisters replacement map, if you use that version. Either version is a flat and gently rounded square, almost perfectly flat in the middle, and gradually curving down towards the shore line, to meet the water in a gentle slope. It's still more than flat enough to build on in any point. It is not based on the altitude data of any real place. It's just an artifficial island with as much place to build as possible, while not having any hard corners or perfectly straight edges, so it basically still looks somewhat natural. If it helps, you can imagine it as an artifficially built island, like Dubai has been building, except bigger. There are no trees in water, nor in fact even on the beach. I have reduced the ground texture and shadow map to 2048x2048, down from the default 4096x4096, since it seems to run smoother on my computer that way and it's not like a flat map really needs more detail. And the game's terrain multi-texturing makes it look ok up close too anyway. To install, just unzip one or both .patch files from the .zip file into your Paks folder. To uninstall, just remove it. (Removing it might, however, break any cities built on the custom map.) IMPORTANT NOTE 1: No attempt has been made to match the height of the map it replaces, and arguably it's not even possible to both have two maps have the same height in any place AND have one be flatter than the other. I.e., it might or might not break existing cities built on the island it replaces. It is highly recommended that you start a new city if you want to use it. IMPORTANT NOTE 2: It has only been tested with Cities XL 2012. I have no idea if it works with 2011 or any other version. Note 3: yes, I know it's not some great achievement. It's not the best map out there, nor particularly hard to make, nor the most realistic, nor anything else. I just wanted a flat map to build a great big island city on. Maybe someone else can use it too. Or maybe not.
  18. Flat Coastal Map

    Version 1.0

    4,580 Downloads

It's a very simple and almost flat map for Cities XL 2012, replacing the Peninsula. It has custom textures, lots of place to build, a coast for placing ports (or blueprints built on water, like the Alcatraz), and all resources almost everywhere. It has road/railroad/highway connections on two out of four sides, so you can haul a lot of cargo even before placing a harbor. It's basically like a quarter of a frisbee, almost perfectly flat in the corner opposite to the water, and gradually curving down towards the shore line, to meet the water in a gentle slope. It's still more than flat enough to build on in any point. There are no trees in water. In fact, the the shore was actually built around the existing trees. So you don't have to buldoze anything. It's inspired by the very flat geography of peninsulas like Denmark or Florida, or rather, coastal places on them rather than the whole peninsula, but it's not based on the actual terrain data of any particular place. To install, just unzip the file into your Paks folder. I.e., it might or might not break existing cities built on the Peninsula. I just wanted a flat map to build a great big coastal city on. Maybe someone else can use it too. Or maybe not.
  19. FlatDesertMap

    Version 1.0

    2,498 Downloads

It's a very simple flat map for Cities XL 2012 that replaces the Rocky Desert, with a custom texture. Basically you have the whole map available for building whatever you wish. Furthermore, I reduced the texture and shadow map to 2048x2048, down from 4096x4096, since it seems to run smoother on my computer this way. And besides, it's not like a flat desert actually needed more detail. It has oil everywhere, as well as tourism everywhere. It has no water or fertility by default in the normal game, just like the normal desert, BUT if you use Neidhard's resource enabler ( http://www.file-upload.net/download-2360525/mod_requied-for-new-maps.rar.html ) then you'll have underground water reserves and fertility everywhere too. It's up to you exactly how much you want to cheat, basically. You can imagine that it's an otherwise fertile area, if only someone pumps water from underground to irrigate the crops, or you can take it as just a desert and import your food and water. Or you can use the sandbox mod buildings to give you food and water. To install it, just unpack the zip file into the Paks folder. To uninstall it, just delete the mod file from the Paks folder. (It might however break any cities built on the modified map.) IMPORTANT NOTE 1: No attempt has been made to have it at the same height as the original map, and arguably it's not even possible to exactly match the height everywhere AND be flatter than the original. The two are mutually incompatible. I.e., it will likely break any existing city that's built on the Rocky Desert map. It's highly recommended that you start a new city if you want to use it. I just wanted a flat map to build a great big Las Vegas style city on. Maybe someone else can use it too. Or maybe not.
