OK so the newer ones being produced by Gunderson have these ribs inside: Old ones have the bars across the top, and smooth-welded sides inside. Here's a similar relic of a slightly different style, now in trash train service:
-
We have plenty of the woodchip gondolas around here, that floor looks great. Their inside walls are smooth steel with no ridges. I can try to get you some pics.

I couldn't find a rail-served version of Schwartz Chemical Company in my plugins... The Timber Lumber Company has a slight glitch at the upper siding, where the track goes from DTR to STR.

BAT - Troubleshooting & General Discussion

Sorry to go off topic but this is actually a thing @madhatter106! -
That's a neat trick, @MissVanleider. I use dirt or gravel SAM for industrial areas where I don't want a sidewalk. @rsc204 has put up some teasers of an industrial SAM street with wide lanes... that's what I'm waiting for.

BAT - Troubleshooting & General Discussion
CT14 replied to Jasoncw's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I model as close to real scale as possible then scale up at the end. In addition to what has been said above, you'll need to move the model vertically a little bit after scaling, to sit just above 0 on the Z axis again. I like to use the Left ortho view in Gmax to do this. If you have custom LODs make sure they are visible/grouped with the model before the 133% scaling/repositioning, or they won't match up anymore. If the LODs are just a box, remake them after. -
In-N-Out Lowrider Show released The lot is released to accompany the Lowrider Props. I've added some Maxis street lamps with their light cones. The crowd props and SHK prop families are timed, so this lot has a bit of action. The @Simmer2 Props Vol03 also came in handy with their realistic sized dumpster/waste oil barrels, and ground clutter/fallen vegetation. I've chosen to leave this one as a CS$ growable only, for a change. However it is limited to Houston tileset, for those who want to make it easier to grow.

Your Sims need somewhere to safely park their lowriders in one place, and sip sugary beverages while eating the food of the gods: cheeseburgers. Fortunately, it's getting sunny out and the Lowrider Show has come to the In-N-Out Burger. Special shout out to @joerg for his In-N-Out Burger BAT. @Silur Here you go! Naming prop families I wanted prop families to show names in Lot Editor, not just the hex - so I added prop family cohort files with the help of this tutorial on SC4D. I ended up finding some existing cohort files to copy/modify in BSCProps/JRJ Mega Props Vol 02. Datpacking and cohort exemplar ordering For performance and convenience, it seems necessary to datpack with 105 data files going into this pack. I will eventually go back and update the train pack as a single dat as well, before I release the gasworks lots using its props. I compressed the files using SC4DatPacker 2008, after putting cohort exemplars into a new file created with Reader. The resulting dat put the cohorts at the top of the file, so no need to mess around with copy/paste in Reader and reordering exemplars by hand to put the cohorts at the top, as the above linked tutorial describes. Crowd props I finally figured this out. Crowd props are found easily in the Prop Families area of the lot editor browser. They are oversized like everyone says, but it's not a total dealbreaker for me. Their prop families and animations are a good touch. 1930s transportation Some more works in progress sourced from the Warehouse. The old cargo ship needs texture work, is almost "as is" from source model but modified to end at waterline. The cars have been retextured. The Ford shows four different colors taken from the historical color sheets for its year. Specular level maps for FAB models Getting back to the FA2 models, I wanted to improve the textures before adding some of the details that were added to diagonal versions. Here is FAB-FA3-D2-2 with specular level maps applied to roof and bricks. For these meshes I had to use the "Explicit Map Channel" setting that the specular map defaults to, not World mapping.

A Brief Introduction to Diagonal City Building
CT14 commented on BLANKBLANK's article in SC4 Tutorials
A lot of good information here. Just a small point - the Gobias files are available on the LEX again. -
Thanks everyone for the feedback! I've completed renders and modding including prop families. The readme has a complete set of credits with source links. It's almost ready for release, just need to datpack it. I figured out how to do crowd props - there's prop families in the default Maxis props that make it easy. The third picture below shows the effect. This means the Lowrider Show lot will be ready soon. @Ceafus 88 there will be a prop family for cars "in the act". One for parked cars. And diagonal families. I would like to do a donk/monster car set too. @Fantozzi Yes, that has been my experience. I typically lower values by 20-40 on the Saturation/Value sliders for solid colors when applying the Specular Level maps. The Specular Level maps themselves use values of 60-80 typically, but occasionally 50 or 100. It all depends on what "looks right". @T Wrecks Thanks for pointing out the need to test against Maxis BATs as a baseline - I know I've seen you mention that in the past. I've done that here. @metarvo It was really good to learn about specular maps and some other things that I've picked up on this round. By T Wrecks' suggestion, the test lots above use default Maxis props for residential and commercial, plus some default Maxis car props and shrubs, etc. If any of these cars looks too crazy bright on anyone's screen, please let me know and I'll look at adjusting it. I am using an older monitor and a newer one plus my phone to check things out, but I know screens vary a lot.

Looks like it's your lucky day! A web search turned up something pretty interesting in its own right: Jestarr's website, with links to his favorite textures and 3ds download sites! But look what he has kept online complete with downloads: http://www.brakebayou.us/phantom433.html Your trucks look great! Okay, and I also found this bit of SimHistory: http://fredfree.homestead.com/freeland_info.html Reading through the roll call for this Sim club, I learned that Cycledogg was actually the first BATer!

Editing Type Address and Group Address with Ilives

Looking very good! These models remind me of pre-war facelifts on late 19th century buildings... Regarding mixed use, I agree and favor the Goofyguytpa approach of lotting it either as growable residential, or as commercial.

Gmax Specular Levels mapping details I've been plugging away at diagonal versions of the Lowrider models. Here's another view of the specular level mapping process: In the material editor, the checkered cube has been selected to display the specular level bitmap, a screenshot from a SimCity region. Scale 0.2 scale for X and Y of mapping has been chosen since the screenshot was at a far out zoom. A detail shot might not need any scaling to produce broad areas of texture. World map to align reflections on different parts Note the Mapping: Planar from World XYZ. This aligns reflections on multiple parts of the model,. As long as World mapping is chosen with the same tiling, rotation, etc, any number of specular mappings can be lined up with the same map. Rotating the map It's often useful to rotate 45 on Angle Z if the result doesn't look realistic, but here the image was already at a good angle to provide a pleasing result. Glare Adjust Specular Level down from default of 100 if it's too shiny-looking. I often use as low as 60 depending on how the renders look. The makeover Before (no Specular Level map): After (Specular Level 100):

Hey, how did I miss this? These are looking great! My only suggestion would be to do 1 and 2 story versions for commercial office and services, medical, etc.

There's another thread that talks about this, and they end up linking it to the latest published DAMN Manager too. The version I mentioned earlier doesn't seem to have the problem. @matias93 The patches I was referring to are the Windows patches - I've had to apply the various workarounds just to use manufacturer's copy protection (SecureROM) to launch the CD version, etc, but system version is probably not relevant for this one.

@matias93 ping...as above, it seems to be related to a specific version of DAMN Manager. Try the one I mentioned and see if it stops.
