  1. Show us your Railroads!

@Haljackey At 0:58, 2:12 those maintenance-of-way cars must not have seen you coming. Great video. Is there any way to get the game to not render automata over intervening model views, as at 2:20 etc? I don't know if it's building or prop in that case but the train is viewed on the camera side of the building instead of behind it. Those NWM transitions at 5:30 are sweet! Cheeky question what are your plans for the 'bando' at 4:29? Keep up the good work.
  2. It does look like infinite commuter loop. At a glance, try severing the connections between either 1 and 2, or 2 and 3 (doesn't matter which) and run the game for a while. Supposedly neighbor connections are only recalculated after 10 years in game running in the neighbor city? Not sure if that will affect things.
  3. Show us your Railroads!

I've discovered that all the rails in those awesome Fukuda HIDP lots are baked into the building models themselves. I have messaged him to ask if I can modify them (seems like I need the original gmax or 3ds files to do this).
  4. Show us your Railroads!

@takemethere Those are basically identical to the Cogeo lots, I just replaced a few overlay textures for the tracks in concrete, and shuffled props around to account for the shift in track placement between RRW DTR and Maxis DTR. The lots do have really nice prop family setups and all the trucks line up to each building prop. I did thin the trucks/trailers out a bit as the original lot looked like a storage facility for empty trailers! And here I was thinking the tents in front of City Hall were protesters.

  8. Entry no.38 - The Apotex Refinery pt.1

@Simmer2 just explained it very well. It is best to use a separate, minimal plugins folder for editing work. That way you also can be sure of your dependencies.
  9. ITC TDP Broadway Tower

Enid, grain elevator capital of the universe!
  10. Show us your Railroads!

@Angry Mozart that's a good first post, to say the least! Hope we'll be seeing more of your creations.
  11. Entry no.38 - The Apotex Refinery pt.1

@takemethere thanks for elaborating! I am getting inspired to finally do some BATting of my own. The two engines on the train was actually the thing that made me think it was a lot - there's an easy way to make the in game train use only one freight car (no need to replace each individual one) but no known way to make it use more engines. I'd love to see a mosaic of the whole train in the next entry. I am shocked, truly shocked that you have done all this in the Maxis Lot Editor. I encourage you to revisit the PIM-X issues as it makes props so much easier to work with. Keep on rollin'!
  12. Entry no.38 - The Apotex Refinery pt.1

In addition to the power lines, pipelines and retaining walls, I think I can see at least the following custom content: - Paeng Grunge concrete with parked cars on it - A freight train modified as a unit train with tanker cars and increased length (is this actually a lot, not the in-game train?) - Various industrial lots (near the flower garden) Some really nice work, the lower retaining wall looks perfect already. The upper wall with hex blocks could use a little more "pop"/convex aspect to the blocks, but it's a great start and matches the Paeng concrete fillers perfectly.
  13. XXXIII ・ Toyozawa no Minato

tonraq: Absolutely amazing work, some of the best ports I've ever seen. I am trying to ID the set that shows the warehouses, cranes and 2-level pier. tariely: There are lots of container sidings! Here's Simmer2's set including intermodal trains: My puzzle pieces are here: I can also PM you (or post elsewhere if there is interest) some unreleased QTR puzzle pieces, allowing full container yard ladders to be built.
  14. Le Corbusier loved grain elevators. I went hunting on the satellites and struck gold in Enid: Bonus with steam and cabooses!
  15. Nexis Grain Silo Elevators

Nice, this looks just like prototypes in my area...
  16. DK1 Grain Elevator

Nice texturing, very realistic appearance overall.
  17. Show us your Railroads!

This NCD->RRW patch should address the texture issue: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3350 edit: I tested this lot, Depot Rural Train Station (Through Track), and it doesn't seem to use NCD textures, so this won't work as a fix. Using a lot editor to replace some of the textures with NCD might work, but I'm not sure e.g. the spur to that turntable would ever fit on RRW. There's a version called Large Rural Train Station which doesn't use track textures on the lot itself, maybe this is part of the change you're thinking of...
  18. Can't find it?... Ask here!

I'm looking for the Alkaline Inc Northwest Works Coal Washer, no longer available from https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1924. Thanks in advance. Found it... its name is different here:
  19. The above mod and its expansions should handle your industrial needs. For commercial, you can encourage offices with plazas, and it is possible to force the game to pick the growables you want by carefully selecting which growable lots are present in your game folder. There isn't any mod to control wealth by zone density for commercial, as far as I know. But there are hundreds of commercial office ploppable lots to build with. People also mod growable lots to certain tilesets to further control their appearance... most lots are set for all tilesets out-of-the-box, but you can use the tilesets as a 'filing system' of sorts.
  20. 12 - Owl Bend River

The riparian scenes are excellent! Some of the best I've seen. @korver pointed out the farm field edges, my only quibble - perhaps best filled with SPAM - Single and Diagonal Fields for that seamless look:

  22. How to make timed props?

I've been digging around meaning to do this as well. I found this tutorial about timed props (attached to first post, may require login...) https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=4789.0 There is of course the basic prop family tutorial which I can verify works well: http://www.wiki.sc4devotion.com/index.php?title=Tutorial:Creating_Prop_Families And an even shorter but also good one: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=128.0 I am thinking it should be possible to follow the timed prop directions, then the prop family directions. I am not sure if there is a single tutorial that covers everything, yet.
  23. Show us your Small Towns

We are now dangerously off-topic, but it's worth noting that Imgur is owned by and serves as the official image archive for Reddit.com, which has a strong vested interest in making sure nothing ever disappears from that site. Broken Imgur links do not seem to exist except in the case where a user removes images from an account. I agree that archiving locally is always necessary when "storing" anything in any cloud anywhere.
  24. Show us your Small Towns

May I suggest trying imgur instead of photobucket. Much nicer to use, no login required, easy to get the full jpg link for posts.
