  1. I'm here from 2006 ... I saw many and tremendous things here. Today there are wonderful parks, but there are so many props... This did not allow themselves brilliant writers STEX
  2. I made a prop from a model, following the SCPIM instructions ; it's not the first one I've made ; I'd even made another one just before, which works perfectly. But the second prop only appears in the L.E props menu when I choose the corresponding Lot in the Lot menu. I'd made a base to plop it on, and if I choose the base (made with SCPIM, following the instructions, bis), the prop does not show up in the Props. The other one is there. I made them exactly the same way. What is happening ?
  3. I'm a bit new to the L.E.I am trying to use the Effect_fountainlight A B and C , as I found they work for fountains I've seen and examined in various lots. They should work for ANY fountain, shouldn't they ? Or does the fountain has to be a specific size for them to take effect ?
  4. Use of other's prop packs

    Alright, so I think this question might be self-explanatory, but I want to make extra sure I understand all the rules before I proceed. Am I correct to in my understanding that I am free to relot and upload items to the STEX which use props and/or BATted buildings made by other creators provided I link to those items as dependencies on the STEX and do not include them in my upload itself? I guess really what I want to know is whether I need anyone's permission to use their prop packs, or if I can just go ahead without consulting anyone on how I use their creations, provided I follow the upload rules regarding dependencies? And as a final question, regardless of what the rules say, what is considered polite? I don't want to break the rules, and I also don't want to irritate anyone.

My old releases were made with gmax, but all of my current and future projects are being worked on in Autodesk 3DSmax 2014.   7. Cori's Custom Prop Excursion

    And in today's adventures I have (after much trial and error) learned how to make a custom prop. First I took screenshots of a Maxis god mode tree in SC4 and then made the images that SC3K likes: Here I've placed it on a lot in the BAP: And here it is in the game: In case anyone would like to test this I'll attach it here.     This is one of the extra files @catty-cb has maintained on her site and now has kindly passed over to us here at Simtropolis for hosting. I have made my own Maxis_Props.zip file since the original is a self extracting one that has no idea where the files should go. So, this is a manual installation and you want them in a C:\GOG Games\SimCity 3000 Unlimited\Apps\BACustom\Props\Maxis_Props folder. These are custom props for use in the SC3000 Building Architect Tool and you will then find them under the Custom Props area. In the screen shot I have placed one of each. You will notice this file is not my creation and credit for keeping it alive goes to catty. This STEX entry will stay under my name tho since I'm in charge of the new SimCity 3000 Sub-Forum and I'll be the one to reply to comments or questions.

Hey guys, I've been enjoying Cities: Skylines basically since release day, immensely helped by all the awesome stuff the community created, and felt that after so much taking, it was time for a little giving. In real life I'm a front-end/C# developer, and in my free time I love to travel and run riot with my camera (and again web developing: recently my travel website went live, a labor of love/vitriolic hatred of 10 years). With that in mind, it's not surprising I ended up creating a mod that goes right after the aesthetics. The result: Ultimate Eyecandy *tadaaaa* Some more action photo's. Addendum April 4th, 2016: I'm making slow but steady progress, not in the least by deciding to ditch a couple of features on my wishlist for a later stage Most important for the time being is to create a stable and robust base to which future features can be added. What remains are basically the features that are visible in the various screenshots. ETA for v1.0.0: for the time being unknown. Wish list (not to be confused with a to-do lost - these are features I'd love to add, but not sure how feasible they are): - setting to turn on/off building night lights at will, without messing with the actual simulation (based on what I've found so far, the two seem rather intertwined). - color picker to change the fog color; - color picker to change air pollution color; - slider to change the strength of 'ground wetness'; - LUT Creator: apply various settings to a neutral LUT (color channels, brightness, contrast, lightness, etc.) and export/upload the result as a custom LUT; - a modular set-up: this mod will be the core, and other graphics-related mods can be integrated as 'plug-ins', each with a menu item/tab of their own. Think (orphaned) mods like Dynamic Resolution, BorderCities and/or Ambient Occlusion; - who knows what else I'll come up with (feel free to make suggestions!) For who is this mod: - modelers that want to take screenshots of their assets in every imaginable weather/ambient condition; - players that like to have control over the environment when making Let's Plays; - players that love to have a more artistic/photographic approach to taking screenshots; - players that like to watch their city in different conditions without having to wait (for example until the game finally decides to let it rain); - anyone else Thank you: - Boformer, BloodyPenguin and SamsamTS for making their mods publicly available on Github: I learned tons by just studying their mods; - AJ3D for helping me to get started and taking my first baby steps in the wonderful world of CSL modding!   12. So I recently reset my PC, which uninstalled all my programs, but kept all my saves and plugins. I've finally reinstalled SC4, and successfully got it booted up, but now all the maxis props are missing from lots! I tried removing all my plugins, all my saves, running it with and without administrator permissions, running it with and without compatibility mode, reinstalling, etc. But the Maxis props in lots are still missing! Any advice?

This essentials package, which is the prelude to my upcoming IndustryMania re-lot series, provides a set of custom truck parking textures and prop families for @MushyMushy's HD North American trucks which will allow you to do just that. Package Overview This package contains a set of 38 unique overlay textures, offered in either white or yellow paint for a total of 76. Additionally, there are 36 prop families that cover all of the props included in the original trailers and semi cab sets. Additional details are in the enclosed README. Install Instructions Drop the files in your My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins folder. Note that the prop families DAT supersedes the original props' .sc4desc files. It is recommended that you relocate or remove the original from your plugins folder to avoid potential conflict. Dependencies The textures are standalone and will not require any dependencies.   14. Hardy Lebanon Cedar

    I couldn't find any Lebanon Cedar or similar type tree in mods so I made my own. It replicates a common true old world cedar tree found in cities all over the world especially in Mediterranean and semi arid regions worldwide. I attached a few photos of the tree found in the real world to give you an idea what they look like and where they belong. I have commonly seen them here in Arizona in middle elevations in places like Prescott, Bisbee and Sierra Vista. Some are even found in higher colder mountain elevations like Flagstaff where I live. This tree is typically suited for a drier type climate and usually isn't found in humid places or wet places. The tree files are resourced from BSC Mega Props Vol02. Simply drag to your plugins folder in your SimCity folder contained in your PC's documents folder. Credit goes to BSC for yet another great model set.
  15. Hello everyone! After many years I decided to reboot SC4 again. Unable to get my disks to work properly I got the steam version. After installing the NAM, and testing it, I wanted to add some prop-packs and other custom content. The problem I have now is that they will install properly, but not show up in the game. I cant remember having this problem using the original disks years back. Does any know how I can fix this? Or maybe where to manually move the files? Sorry if this question has been asked, I did a few searches and couldn't find anything useful. Edit: To add some detail. I got the stuff installed here: C:\Users\D\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins. The NAM works fine in there.

I want to make some timed car prop families for my lotting project out of the cars contained on the LBT Mega Prop Pack, I would like them to work like Maxis residential and commercial car prop families. Can somebody be so kind to point me to a tutorial? Or maybe tell me what kinds of properties do I have to edit? I have ilive's Reader, SC4 Tool and PIM-X. Thanks in advance!

Ok, here is the answer: Decal Shaders: The shader name is "Custom/Props/Decal/Blend" for road arrows, parking spaces, tiles, old asphalt"Custom/Props/Decal/Solid" for manholesBoth props use a simple box as a mesh, and a diffuse + alpha texture. This stuff could probably be used to create custom ground textures (e.g. for plazas, or flowerbeds, or a crime scene). It opens up so many possibilities. Fence shader: The prop hedges and industrial fence use the "Custom/Props/Prop/Fence" shader, which is quite self-explaining. It makes the prop follow the terrain. Default Shader: "Custom/Props/Prop/Default" Script to change the shaders: https://gist.github.com/boformer/38d97d663779d48a21ed (Important: Read the comments and modify the script before you run it!) Use the Mod Tools console to run the script. Here is a test result using a simple cube and the script run with the set vakzes. I don't understand completely how it scales the texture: It seems like the UV map of the cube is ignored.

  21. Hi, I'm trying to find a way to add custom props do an asset editor. Main goal is interchange asset editor. I created a simple model of a lane marking in blender. I saved it as a prop. I see it when I create a park asset in one of the menus. I can't find a way to add it to interchanges. I want to see it in props menu where abandoned car and rocks are. I tried modtools and ui category changer. The only way was to change it as LandmarkTree but in this case my marking is moving as trees. I'm stuck, I'm trying all the categories one by one and I can't see it anywhere. Please help. Thanks!
