Cities: Skylines - Community Modding Requests
nosferatu247 replied to Cyclone Boom's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
A greater variety of railway stations besides the one currently available. More compact ground-level and elevated platforms for downtown areas, as well as larger terminus and central stations that integrate metro and bus service. These would go a long way to creating a more realistic commuter rail system. One thing I actually enjoyed that SC13 has and Skylines was streetcars/trams. That would be a far more involving project to add in than mere train stations, but I thought I'd also put that out there. -
This is amazing! I might be a little biased because I love classic North American passenger trains, but... this may well be the greatest train mod ever envisioned in the nearly eleven years of SC4. Keep up the good work!

Tallest downloadable building for SC4
nosferatu247 replied to Rybeast's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
has a number of futuristic skyscrapers that are very tall; in particular, I'd call attention to the Coruscant tower sets, the Millenium Tower, and the Yarkozvezda Pyervaya. -
That looks amazing! I definitely think there needs to be an overhaul for the game's UI; the JSPEC mod from 2011 (which I use) never made it past beta stage, and dobdriver never even released his, so I definitely look forward to your own mod.

Hey, y'all. I apologize if this has been asked before, but would it be possible to make an on-slope rail to underground rail transition piece? If anyone has an answer, thanks in advance. I understand if there are technical or time limitations, and I can always use subway connectors; but I thought the idea deserved consideration.

I've been working on a Breton/French themed region, and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for French styled or, general Western European styled, farms. Most of the farm mods I've seen are more suited to an American/Canadian setting.

Circular cities in SimCity 4

A road layout like this would be perfect with the TerraDome. I'll have to try that out at some point.- 28 Replies

[2013] Lot Editor and Plug-in Manager - Forum Archive
nosferatu247 replied to Harmanoff's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
OK, I found a solution: Raise the terrain with street tiles past where your corner wall is supposed to go, like you would do with a regular ortho wall. After that, plop the corner wall, bulldoze the street on the upper ground, and then plop street tiles below, one tile over.- 79 Replies

I made a wall set of my own after following this thread, so I made this quick image demonstrating how they have to be placed. The walls are at the back of the lot and, as Magneto said, the lot foundation is at zero. Streets at the top and bottom keep the land from deforming when you place them, and you have the lot facing uphill. Otherwise, it will "indent" the terrain. I don't have the redbrick plaza lots (Skydrive said it was deleted), but I assume they work the same way.

Slowing down the speed of rail automata...
nosferatu247 replied to Priyon's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
The "4A" part in the number, specifically; typing in "2A", keeping the zeroes intact, would (in theory) half the speed. Likewise, increasing it speeds the trains up, with it going as high as "9A". With tweaking like this, it's always a good idea to make a backup of the file, and use trial and error to see what sort of speed best suits you. This is pretty much the method I used to modify the file to begin with. However, please note that all trains in the game are effected by this value, and travel the same speed regardless of type. Just something to keep in mind in case you have high speed rail and streetcars in the same city. -
Slowing down the speed of rail automata...
nosferatu247 replied to Priyon's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
It is possible. If you have NAM, open up the file "NetworkAddonMod_Automata_Plugin", plus whatever version you're using (mine says "_Radical_Automata24") in the iLive reader. Then you go and find the entry "Train Min/Max KPH". Mine is set to "0x0000004A,0x0000004A", which has the trains move at a slower pace than the vanilla game; after you save that, and the file itself, you can always playtest and see if it's still too fast. If it is, you can decrease the number to something lower. -
Project Symphony has to be the biggest thing I'm looking forward to in the next NAM; it simply looks amazing, and seems ideal for the region I'm currently working on. Thanks for your hard work NAM Team, and good luck with seeing NAM 31 to completion.

The specific road you're looking for, the 6 lane avenue, is called an "AVE-6", I believe. You need the Network Widening Mod, and MandelSoft's would be needed to get the specific look in your picture. The of course, is needed for either to work.

Would something like this be what you're looking for? It's a ploppable commercial with growable residential. Best of both worlds.

Railway stops in one point and its building can't be finished
nosferatu247 replied to Hektorek's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I took the liberty of making a rough approximation of the city in your picture, OP, with some suggested corrections. As others have said, you can't make a 90 degree turn with SC4 rail. I moved the street in the upper left up one tile to make way for a wye junction, moved up the line and station, and ran the entire thing as one straight path. This eliminates clutter, gives you more room to zone, and is actually usable by trains (as seen above). I hope this helps. -
To get rid of that message, don't replace all the streets with roads.
I still get the annoying message even when I have many streets in my city. Same with "office advantages" when I have acres upon acres of undeveloped commercial zones. @gamzdude: Thanks for the mod, I will be trying it out.

I'm positive the Plymouth arcology is in the SimMars mod, and the Launch arco was on one of the Japanese mod sites. They don't function like the SC2 arcos, but that's a game limitation IIRC.
