  1. MMP and Automata Requests

    Since my mmp collection is almost 400mb, I thought they might deserve a thread all by themselves, as the skill set involved is somewhat different than BATs and Lots. Requests for these tend to get lost in those mega-threads. Not a request, just a suggestion: Plop Corpses Road Kill Before anyone comes roaring in with their panties in a twist about inappropriate subject matter, remember, we have ghosts, zombies and chalk outlines scattered about these games. And it is 2022. Public demises are becoming more commonplace every day for assorted reasons. It's kind of rare to hear of someone going in their sleep, today. It would also add realism to war scenes, accidents and other situations. Thanks, in advance, if anyone makes these.

  3. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a few plugins and other misc things, and I was wonderring if you could help out? I'm looking for the following: Gizmo's SC4 Vehicle props (is his website still around?) a tutorial on using iLive reader the Rain plugin (I don't remember its name, but t was a plugin that added the ability to make lakes and ponds above the water level, It was hosted on a third party site which I doubt is still around) RaphealNinja's blank lots.
  4. While we have been "assured" that this won't be as bad as the SC launch, and I believe them, there are many problems that I fear will not be fixed. A: Will we get better zoning tools? B: A better UI, by that I mean a vast improvement. C: What will the simulation be like? D: The plopables are horrible, as well as all of the models. E: How smoothly will the game run? F: When will it be available to the US? G: WILL it be a US game? H: Terraforming? I: All textures, besides for terrain, are horrible Ect ect. What do YOU want in the game, will YOU be open to buying a Beta? and will YOU buy it in any way, shape, or form? I'll personally watch this closely, as well as watch the markets and snipe on the lowest price IF I want it.

You might have known me around the site as the guy who frequents the chat, forum games and you might have known me in my City Journal, but in a recent months I have also gained interest in Geographic Information System (GIS) at the University of Manitoba. Ever since, spatial analysis had been part of my daily routine, from the bus to the classroom to even my scheduling... Anyway, I am glad to be a new member of the ST Mapping Community! First of all, a few facts about my maps: My maps are accurate in its representation, with the ratio of the map area kept to the most precise measurements (allowance of +/-4% difference). Before, my maps used ASTER 30m DEM data, which was by far "the most accurate DEM data" around until "a newer DEM data is released by the space agencies". However, due to someone trying to pull a dopelganger on me, I had decided to move on from DEM and use the things that I learned from GIS. It will remain a secret unless that person moves away from the site. Currently, I'm accepting any areas of the world but Japan, Korea, Seaboard China, the Philippines and Indochina will be prioritized, as these areas lacked the attention of the mapmakers. I will no longer accept requests of Indonesia and won't do any requests from Indonesia. Look first before you post in this thread for requests! Sorry guys! No SC4 Terraformer requests! I think we know what needs to be done when using Terraformer. My job is to create correct scale maps, not draw a map for you... Updates will be posted here as well as my new posts! Current Progress 1. Isumi District, Chiba Prefecture [JPN] - 8x10 tiles (72 total tiles), hilly landscape, sea access. -Rivers omitted due to the size constraint (too small), people will need to MMP their rivers into the landscape*. -Cities: Isumi, Otaki, Katsuura, Kamogawa. Map Centered 10km SSW of Otaki. -Very rough terrain, with open spots on the NE and SW. -Population Preference: Sparse to medium. STATUS: RELEASED! Link: 2. Kuwana, Mie Prefecture [JPN] - 13x8 tiles. Flat landscape, river and sea access (Part 1 of 2 of Metro Nagoya Area) -Detail to be kept from the Kiso 3 rivers. -Cities: Kuwana, Yokkaichi, Inabe -Flat terrain with slight elevation changes near Yokkaichi and Suzuka. -Population Preference: Medium to Dense. STATUS: RELEASED! Link: 3. Ise, Mie Prefecture [JPN] - 8x8 tiles. Mountainous and sea access. -Cities: Ise, Shima, Matsusaka -Major elevation changes in the Western direction. -Population Preference: Sparse to Dense. STATUS: RELEASED! (LINK) 4. Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental [PHI] (request) - N/A tiles. Flat to Mountainous and sea access -Cities: Cagayan de Oro, Opol, Tagoloan -Flat terrain with major elevation changes in the southern direction. -Population Preference: Medium to Dense. STATUS: STARTING (Active for 10 weeks) X. Shizouka, Shizouka Prefecture [JPN] (request) - N/A tiles. Mountainous and sea access -Cities: Shizouka, Yaizu, Fujieda, Shimada, Makinohara -Flat terrain with major elevation changes in the southern direction. -Population Preference: Sparse to Dense. STATUS: CANCELLED DUE TO PLAGIARISM.

Just a long list of new building requests/ideas: Fast food: (M$, LD) -there is already a McDonalds and Burger King but maybe they should make -KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) -Jack in the Box -Carls Jr. -White Castle (east coast USA fast food resturant) -In-N-Out (very popular west coast USA fast food resturant) -Pizza Hut -Sonic Drive-Thru Larger Resturants: (M$, MD) -Cracker Barrel -Black Angus -Bob's Big Boy (popular west coast USA Burger resturant) -Denny's Diner -Hard Rock Cafe -Outback Steakhouse -TGI Fridays Gas Stations: (already using the Medium Wealth gas station building) -Arco -Cheveron -Shell -Mobil Miscellaneous: -7/11 (convenience store) -TA Travel Centers (Travel of America) -Pilot Flying J Travel Centers -Love's Travel Centers Stores: (M$, MD) -Target -Wal-Mart -Costco -Macy's -JCPenny's -Best Buy Hotels/Motels: Hotels: (M$, MD) -Hilton -Embassy Suites -Holiday Inn -Best Western -Marriott -Hyatt -Radisson Motels: (L$, MD) -Motel 6 -Econolodge -Vagabond Inn -Ramada -Rodeway Inn -Super 8 I Know its alot, but its just some ideas for some new buildings Comment any other ideas for commercial buildings too!

Some requests are asked quite often, but quite some of these will not be taken because they are either impossible, very hard to realize, are outside of the scope of the NAM Team or are already planned and therefore making any request redundant. Impossible items The following often-requested items are practically impossible: - Double-deck highways / highway+avenue / RHW: Often requested, but very hard to model and technically these items are problematic. SimCity 4 reads all paths as if they were two-dimensional, disregarding the height. This is not a problem if these networks have two different network classes (like road andrail), but with the same network class (road, rail or pedestrian, not to be confused with network types) this is problematic. This will result that cars will jump between decks, which is totally undesirable. The only way to prevent this is to make both decks one way in opposite directions, which has been done to the DDRHW-4. However, there's another issue: capacity of these double-deck networks will be the same as their flat counterparts. The current DDRHW-4 tried to solve that by using the rail network, but that turned out to be bugged at neighbour connections, plus some other minor hick-ups. In brief, it's too hard and in some interpretations even impossible to make any double-deck network of the same network class. - Create new networks (without overrides): We can't create new networks. This is a game limitation. We can't do anything about it. For the RHW we simply used the unused Dirt Road network. The rest of the new networks are created by the Starter Override method. - UDI enabled subway: This is a game limitation. We can't do anything about it. - Bike traffic: We can't add new path types. This a game limitation. We can't do anything about it. Hard to realize items The following often-requested items are hard to realize: - Anything model-related (e.g. Monorail, Elevated Rail, Maxis Highway): Transit modeling is a labour intensive job and it requires strict specifications, like size limits, polygon budgets, and most of all, the model must be really full 3D, contrary to BAT models (which are simply projected 3D models on a simple 3D LOD object). These items take a lot of time to complete. Take in mind that for this reason we tend to not take requests that will require a lot of this modeling. - Pre-fab interchanges (e.g. Maxis Highway Interchanges): Again, 3D modeling, but on a large scale. The setups are very complex and very static, giving limited functionality for the effort required to make those and therefore it's not likely that new prefab interchanges will be realized be realized. - Dual/Double-decker networks: Often requested, but hard to realize. Not only do they require a lot of modeling work, but they are often suffering from capacity issues and huge complexity at things like intersections (huge number of possible setups) and the large number of possible network combinations (even when ruling out all network types from the same class). Due to this complexity, development of these items would be slow if this actually is going to happen. Out-of-scope items The following often-requested items are outside of the scope of the NAM Team: - Stations: The main goal of the NAM is to offer new transit networks, not stations. These are created by other BATters and modders, some who have connection with the NAM Team (but not required). - Vehicles: This is up to automata modders Already planned items The following often-requested items are already planned at some point: - More roundabouts/TuLEPs: We are planning to make some new ones someday, but we are still figuring out how to organize it technically. Other projects require more priority also. - Wider RHW bridges: Already been taken care of. Bridge models are completed, but the Bridge controller is not ready for distribution. The bridges also need to be updated to Project 57 standards and quite some tweaking needs to be done. - Extension of the Railway Addon Mod (triple track, quadriple track): Pplanned, but other projects require priority right now. - One Way Road Smooth Curves: Planned, and being worked on. Pathing showed some issues which is why it hasn't been released yet. - More RHW Smooth Curves: Planned, but not realized yet. Awaits further progress of Project 57. - RD-4/RD-6/TLA-5 based upon the avenue network instead of the road: There has been experiments with it a while ago, but nothing really solid yet. We still need to gather knowledge on this. Problems mainly remain with wealthification and diagonals and capacity issues. FlexSPUI does however use this override technique. This may answer your request and why it hasn't been realized yet... Best, Maarten

  9. BAT Request Thread

    BAT Request Thread Use this thread to request BATs. BAT requests are not permitted anywhere else on Simtropolis. Please read the other requests in this thread before making your own requests, to ensure that your requests haven't already been requested (say that 5 times fast). Formatting: Use the following format when posting requests. An example is shown in the next post, which you can copy and paste to help you get the text formatting. This format will help you clearly and concisely communicate your request, which will make it easier for BATers to browse this thread. BATers are resourceful, but you'll need to provide enough information to help get them started. Provide as much useful information as possible, however, in order to preserve conciseness, use links instead of reposting all of the information in this thread. My example request is shorter than yours may be, but your request shouldn't be any longer than a few paragraphs total. Old BAT Request Threads: With Simtropolis 6.0 comes the elimination of the dreaded page flip bug, a bug in the forum software which caused browsing difficulty in long threads, including the old BAT Request Thread. Threads created in Simtropolis 6.0 do not suffer from the page flip bug, and so a new BAT Request Thread is born. Also, like all of the BAT Request Threads, the last one quickly became a jumbled mess, intimidating, and hard to navigate. To avoid that, this time we'll try using a standardized format, which may improve browsability and encourage BATers to look through this thread for ideas more often. Title of Request (Heading 2) ONE image of your request (required). The image must be 800 x 600 pixels or smaller (but try to use as small of an image as possible while still properly displaying the building). Links to other images (optional) Description: (Bold) Write a short description of what you're requesting. (required) Links to informational websites (reccommended). Links to wikipedia, emporis.com, skyscraperpage.com, Local Live, Google Maps, and flickr.com are especially useful. Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: (Bold) Write a short explanation of why you think this would be good for the game or for the community. Here you make your case for why a BATer should BAT your request. (required) Please note that general BAT requests not relating to one particular building or structure can be made in this thread.
  10. Okay, I've already done some stations, as can be seen on the STEX. I intend to do more now that I have my Windows up and running again (I think... ). Now, I'm not going through every station on the STEX to check to see if it works. (Good lord, could you imagine?) If you encounter a station and it's in need of repair, post it here with a STEX link. Ground rules: 1) I will only do stations on the STEX. Exclusive LEX stations or other stations that are not on the STEX won't be done. 2) Just because you ask doesn't mean I'm going to do it. I'll do it if there's a benefit to the community to be had. There are potential issues here with BAT ownership, so for each one, I'm going to attempt to find the creator and ask his/her permission before fixing and uploading the fix. Unless something happens to change this, if I can't get permission, I ain't fixing it. That's it, I think. Go ahead and post your repair jobs. And bear in mind that it might take me time to get to your station. Please be patient. ISF

If a thread already exists for something that would cover your request, then post the request in the existing applicable thread thanks, & not here. Posting a request does not guarantee that it'll be fullfilled. This thread will hopefully just serve as a thread where any/all modding-based requests can be posted, so that anyone [myself &/or others] who are capable of doing any requests posted, might have a place to see them. This is not a chit-chat thread.

    OK, This thread is for requesting lots to be made, if 1) you cant get the program working, or 2) its tyo hard/complicated to make. I will start with one How about a Magical Lights Show? So its like the Concert in Park lot I saw earlier. but there is special effect. With lots of lights that come on in the dark. and maybe even I firework if its possible
