  1. Ploppable Barges?

First of all, a shout out to this map of NYC by izidor44. The scale is insane, and that's a good thing. Second, are there any ploppable barge(for Marine, not canal use) models about? I've downloaded PEG's beautiful ones but they only show up in PEG models. Please correct me if I'm wrong; that happens a lot.
  2. Ploppable Barges?

By the way, Simmer's trash barge is brilliant, makes the city cleaner, too. NYC's Garbage barges appeared famously in an episode of "Absolutely Fabulous" where the girls woke up on it after a lost night on the town. https://images.app.goo.gl/jbS7tMFqVuotpKJB7

  4. Ploppable Barges?

Thanks again, Jack. I'll check them out and report back.
  5. New York City - United States

If you actually read the instructions and have a little patience, this is a spectacular map for those among us(like me) who are obsessive and ambitious about creating as accurate emulation as possible of the NYC area. Given the fact that world is not designed on a grid, nothing is perfect, but this map comes close in terms of tradeoffs. Five stars, bravo.
  6. I watched the entire thing and it's very exciting. I'm going to play with it and when I'm ready to put the Brooklyln and Manhattan bridges where they ought to be I'll share a screenshot. Thanks for doing these videos, they've helped me enormously.
  7. If this is the one where we drain the water, I gave up after spending three hours with no results. I'll watch this, though, thanks.
  8. I've installed the NAM which is miraculously working on my EA interface and I am loving it and this game I took a break from for so long. However, I very well may have screwed up my second install of the NAM and clicked the option for left-hand (UK and other countries) drive. I read this helpful post on the boards, but when I tried the command line argument -l:"English" which the post recommends, EA's advanced options don't allow the quotation marks and I ended up adding -l:English and of course nothing happened. Any ideas? I realize I could just do another NAM reinstall but I'm trying to learn a few things in my old age. I love this place and this community.
  9. Converting back to Right-hand(US) drive

Update: On my third reinstall(it's easy, not complaining) I carefully read the intro and checked the boxes and voila! RHD as we Yanks are accustomed to. Also switched over to the Symphony highways and rising to the challenge. I love this game and community.
  10. I've played this game since it came out; bought the CDs several times over. I played SimCity 2000 when you build towers of waterfalls as a water source. I agree that Societies was kind of a bust. SC4 is a meditative, considered game; I never feel alone because I'm using mods made by this amazing community. To echo what the original poster said, city planning is a real challenge, especially when you get deep in the SC4 mods like the NAM. It feels like I'm here doing graduate work now, even though my current project is one I've done three times now; New York City, or my sloppy approximation of it, because A)this game is definitely not the real world-we can't make diagonal bridges, in spite of valiant efforts of past modders B) I love the city and especially love the NYBT models, especially Aaron Graham's beauties and MattB's practical fixes Again, we stand on the shoulders of giants who changed this game for the better. C) if I ever get obsessed enough to make a map for NYC I'd make it cover more area, have Manhattan island fit on three or four unsplit large tiles and cock it so that the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges come in at the right angle(again, not complaining: dreaming.) D) NYC has an amazing interface of rail and rapid transit, great pizza and MOMA. I'm currently converting all of Maxis gray highways, which brought me hours of joy, to the Symphony ones that match NAM. They seemed maddeningly slow at first but then I realized that there aren't freeway(I'm from SoCal) or parkway entrances on every street, are there? Time to be a wise a city planner. Again, the challenges make me come back here and interact with you wonderful people and our wise and helpful moderators.
  11. Canal Color

Forgive this sophomore question; is there a canal set with the same color as the canal addon mod? We have SG's lovely industrial murk, Canal Addon Mods darker murk, and Oppie's lovely clear blue. Is there another canal set that's the canal addon mod color? I'm running NAM 47.
  12. Canal Color

Hey, Julio? You were right!! I just reinstalled the NAM(again) and voila: same exact shot with Simgoober CAM. I keep learning. There is indeed a menu option for Simmgoober style or Caligrafix style.
  13. Canal Color

I'll look into whether there's a choice on the NAM app. Thanks so much for replying.
  14. Converting back to Right-hand(US) drive

I thought as much. Not that big a deal, so thank you for answering so promptly. It's hilarious how confusing this is, too; wait, so RHD means we steer on the left and drive on the right or...? There's five different versions out there if you google it. As I recall the NAM installer makes it crystal clear.
  15. Hi again, everyone. The only way I've discovered to connect regular el rail to rail over road is to have a corner road piece turn out; obviously at that point the rail over road ends and there's just el rail, but it's actually a pretty ingenious solution. If any one has others I'd love to hear. The real issue is el rail over avenue: are there any stations for it? I love the depth of options on the NAM and I am loving especially the beautifully modded Madison Wells station. Thank you!!
  16. WhereRUFrom cheat not working properly

It's worth it to revive this old thread for those of us(like me) who were trying whereufrom as opposed to WhereRUFrom. The last one works. I love this game, and it's great to see some of us still playing it.
  17. Pegasus CDK3 Collection

I love everything about this pack and appreciate the work and creativity in it. I especially love the peg leveling tool, although I'm not sure what menu its in now; I may just playing this game too much.Everything is exceptional and no issues.
  18. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Thank you both! It was the Grand Central plugin after all! I'm dusting off my skillset, thank you!!
  19. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Hi everyone! I've played SimCity on and off forever and recently just got a computer wit enough power to keep the game relatively stable. I can't thank everyone enough for all the contributions. I do have one question: I loved RaphaelNinja's MMTS Grand Central and just downloaded to my new computer and I'm getting a brown box, as I am with MNTH, the one posted by cagassnoot for RH. Anyone have any ideas on this? They don't list dependencies. If there's another version I'd be thrilled to find that, too.
  20. Midtown Manhattan Pt. 2

I had built a giant out-of-scale replica of the entire five boroughs that basically made me fall in love with the game and meet the SC4 community years ago. I have no regrets for what it taught me, but I have to say that this is a masterwork that deserves sustained, loud, standing applause. The rain sequences are spectacular. Bravo!
  21. Lot - Resources / Help

Thanks for the quick reply! Will do. I'm toying with making some custom seaports and Los Angeles-based shops, houses and landmarks.
  22. Lot - Resources / Help

I'm going to take advantage of being a born-again newbie to ask where to download the Maxis tool for creating lots. I still have a couple of cemeteries I created (a little on the crude side) but can't for the life of me remember the name of the tool or where I got it. If there are better tools and discussions on how to use them, I'll gladly take that too.
  23. Ploppable textures?

It's been a while, as I've said, so I have a basic question about dirt. I know about Peg's trails, I remember some ploppable flowers and have the fantastic tree package, but is there something that would give me a few basic dirt or concrete textures I can use to fill things in? Thank you all in advance.
  24. Ploppable textures?

I'm sorry I took so long to get back- these are little lifesavers, especially for creating realistic parking lots. I'm still getting back into the swing of things. Again, thank you all.
  25. I used the "No Brown Boxes" fix, but honestly, what's working best is cleaning up my old plug-ins folder and confirming I have the right dependencies. I've been gone a while, but it's like riding a bike.
