  1. Ploppable Barges?

By the way, Simmer's trash barge is brilliant, makes the city cleaner, too. NYC's Garbage barges appeared famously in an episode of "Absolutely Fabulous" where the girls woke up on it after a lost night on the town. https://images.app.goo.gl/jbS7tMFqVuotpKJB7

  3. Ploppable Barges?

Thanks again, Jack. I'll check them out and report back.
  4. Ploppable Barges?

First of all, a shout out to this map of NYC by izidor44. The scale is insane, and that's a good thing. Second, are there any ploppable barge(for Marine, not canal use) models about? I've downloaded PEG's beautiful ones but they only show up in PEG models. Please correct me if I'm wrong; that happens a lot.
  5. New York City - United States

If you actually read the instructions and have a little patience, this is a spectacular map for those among us(like me) who are obsessive and ambitious about creating as accurate emulation as possible of the NYC area. Given the fact that world is not designed on a grid, nothing is perfect, but this map comes close in terms of tradeoffs. Five stars, bravo.
  6. I watched the entire thing and it's very exciting. I'm going to play with it and when I'm ready to put the Brooklyln and Manhattan bridges where they ought to be I'll share a screenshot. Thanks for doing these videos, they've helped me enormously.
  7. If this is the one where we drain the water, I gave up after spending three hours with no results. I'll watch this, though, thanks.
  8. Converting back to Right-hand(US) drive

Update: On my third reinstall(it's easy, not complaining) I carefully read the intro and checked the boxes and voila! RHD as we Yanks are accustomed to. Also switched over to the Symphony highways and rising to the challenge. I love this game and community.
  9. I've played this game since it came out; bought the CDs several times over. I played SimCity 2000 when you build towers of waterfalls as a water source. I agree that Societies was kind of a bust. SC4 is a meditative, considered game; I never feel alone because I'm using mods made by this amazing community. To echo what the original poster said, city planning is a real challenge, especially when you get deep in the SC4 mods like the NAM. It feels like I'm here doing graduate work now, even though my current project is one I've done three times now; New York City, or my sloppy approximation of it, because A)this game is definitely not the real world-we can't make diagonal bridges, in spite of valiant efforts of past modders B) I love the city and especially love the NYBT models, especially Aaron Graham's beauties and MattB's practical fixes Again, we stand on the shoulders of giants who changed this game for the better. C) if I ever get obsessed enough to make a map for NYC I'd make it cover more area, have Manhattan island fit on three or four unsplit large tiles and cock it so that the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges come in at the right angle(again, not complaining: dreaming.) D) NYC has an amazing interface of rail and rapid transit, great pizza and MOMA. I'm currently converting all of Maxis gray highways, which brought me hours of joy, to the Symphony ones that match NAM. They seemed maddeningly slow at first but then I realized that there aren't freeway(I'm from SoCal) or parkway entrances on every street, are there? Time to be a wise a city planner. Again, the challenges make me come back here and interact with you wonderful people and our wise and helpful moderators.
  10. Canal Color

Hey, Julio? You were right!! I just reinstalled the NAM(again) and voila: same exact shot with Simgoober CAM. I keep learning. There is indeed a menu option for Simmgoober style or Caligrafix style.
  11. Canal Color

I'll look into whether there's a choice on the NAM app. Thanks so much for replying.
  12. Canal Color

Forgive this sophomore question; is there a canal set with the same color as the canal addon mod? We have SG's lovely industrial murk, Canal Addon Mods darker murk, and Oppie's lovely clear blue. Is there another canal set that's the canal addon mod color? I'm running NAM 47.
  13. Converting back to Right-hand(US) drive

I thought as much. Not that big a deal, so thank you for answering so promptly. It's hilarious how confusing this is, too; wait, so RHD means we steer on the left and drive on the right or...? There's five different versions out there if you google it. As I recall the NAM installer makes it crystal clear.
  14. I've installed the NAM which is miraculously working on my EA interface and I am loving it and this game I took a break from for so long. However, I very well may have screwed up my second install of the NAM and clicked the option for left-hand (UK and other countries) drive. I read this helpful post on the boards, but when I tried the command line argument -l:"English" which the post recommends, EA's advanced options don't allow the quotation marks and I ended up adding -l:English and of course nothing happened. Any ideas? I realize I could just do another NAM reinstall but I'm trying to learn a few things in my old age. I love this place and this community.
  15. Hi again, everyone. The only way I've discovered to connect regular el rail to rail over road is to have a corner road piece turn out; obviously at that point the rail over road ends and there's just el rail, but it's actually a pretty ingenious solution. If any one has others I'd love to hear. The real issue is el rail over avenue: are there any stations for it? I love the depth of options on the NAM and I am loving especially the beautifully modded Madison Wells station. Thank you!!
