No one is getting paid (that I'm aware of) so they work it into the rest of their lives as they see fit. It may take them 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years (hope not). No matter what it will be done when its done. I...for one...am glad they take the time to do these wonderful things and will be happy whenever its done. rhino
  2. Palmetto Building

    Thanks for uploading!
  3. Iron Block Building

Another great BAT from Simgoober! Thank you for this and everything else you've done for the community :)
  4. New Battle Star Galactica

She muttered something about disconnecting Sci-Fi channel when Six and Baltar were together! lol...that scene certainly got my attention too. Fortunately I don't have a half-unit floating around so its a lot easier on me. Thanks for the info...I'm definitely going to try and watch the first season on DVD so I can get some of the background filled in.
  5. SAQ Outlet

I haven't heard of half the businesses and buildings people upload but that doesn't change the quality of the work :) Nicely done and thanks!
  6. Biwdc freight Rail station

The lot looks great and its definitely something thats useful, however I have to agree that the parking lot texture looks a little strange. Otherwise, good job!
  7. One Canada Square Canary Wharf Tower

    very nice IT!
  8. New Battle Star Galactica

Date: 8/26/2005 11:53:20 PM Author: Joesocwork Also, Number Six, was er a 'fracking' messing with Baltar's mind again, probably to keep us from taking the Cylons for granted in future episodes; but that plot devise is starting to get old. quote> At least she's easier on the eyes than a tin can. I guess if I were going crazy I could think of worse delusions than that. Question though...did Baltar have a real relationship with her prior to the Cylon attack on the colonies? I didn't see much of the first season. And on a different note, I saw an advertisement for a new Night Stalker series. I hope its as good as the original...I thought that show was great.
  9. New Battle Star Galactica

Date: 8/23/2005 9:34:05 PM Author: Easy Bakes Wow. Incredible Episode. a 2 parter. Gettting the fleet back together. I dont like The terrorists Sidekick. And looks like Boomer get another crak at the commander next week. quote> That actor seems to always play a bad guy....talk about typecasting. Glad to see Adama is going to try to put things back together. As far as Boomer is concerned, maybe she is actually going to stop the attempt against the commander...the previews were just misleading. Next week should be pretty good.
  10. Show us your Accomplishment!!

Date: 8/23/2005 3:35:22 AM Author: tungston Date: 8/22/2005 9:45:23 PM Author: Davaeron There are a lot of beatiful cities in this topic but something troubles me.  How can u be proud of a city that is not the result of normal development and demand.  I mean many cities people call great are just a bunch of custom skyscraper putted one aside of another without any real demand. It think a city must be result of many development in several part of a region not an artificial bunch of build-on-demand buildings. what do u think. Might be a bit unclear but im still learning english I'm with you, Davaeron, I enjoy looking at the images, but I have no enjoyment plopping buildings and parks.  I started a city with all kinds of cheats and MODs, but I was so bored I abandoned it.  There was no challenge to it. quote> Its all a matter of personal preference. Everyone plays the game the way they get the most enjoyment out of it...that's what makes SC4 and Simtropolis great. rhino

Good choice on colors. Nice job!
  12. Introduce Yourself Here!

I've been here for a while but have never posted in this thread so... My name is Dana. I'm 42 and live in the Dayton Ohio area. I was a police officer for many years, but had to retire due to a knee injury. So I returned to college and have been plugging away at a BS in Computer Engineering. If everything goes according to plan I'll be back in the real world in about a year.
  13. BSC T1 Inktopia

This will make a nice addition...good job!
  14. Court TV for Britain?

Date: 8/2/2005 4:25:39 AM Author: Lord_Bertrum UK Court TV - No thanks Whats the deal with Judge Judy, do the people who go on have a choice whether they want to be broadcast or not? quote> The way I understand it, the litigants are actually paid for their appearances and if there is a fine assessed it is paid for out of a fund provided by the show. So the people who appear are not out anything other than the embarrassment of actually being on the show. toxicpiano: i attempted to watch court TV in the US, but unlike most TV there it is almost completely unwatchable, torn apart by ads and stuff. i really don't think we need this in the UK. That's strange...I've watched it often and I've never noticed any more advertisements than normal stations. Was it being rebroadcast by a local station in your area?...if that's possible.
  15. Favorite Star Wars Movie

I voted for III. I saw IV when it was first released and have always wanted the events that led up to it explained, so III wrapped most everything up for me. I like the way Lucas explained Anakin's fall to the dark side, but I will admit that the relationship between Padme and Anakin did not seem convincing enough to justify some of his actions. And I loved the special effects. There were many innovations in FX that were first seen in IV and, at the time, I was amazed with it. But looking back I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed in the lack of power that the Force seemed to convey to those that used it (obviously the FX technology wasn't to that level yet). It just seemed that the Force should have made them more powerful than what they appeared. As each of the subsequent episodes were released the power of the Force was represented better. *raises deflectors* I would even be interested in seeing the original trilogy remade using today's FX. rhino *activates hyperdrive to get out of this thread*

  17. Post Your Picture Here!

I complained he was neglecting his bear, and now I take him with me all over the world, and take pictures with him to show my friend. I have a stuffed giraffe named Rudolf. quote> We did something similar to a guy that I used to work with. He had a couple of hand puppets that he would use to interact with the kids and one day a bear he had was kidnapped. We'd send the guy ransom notes for the bear with pictures of it from different places around the country (anyone that went on vacation took it with them). After about a year the bear escaped and made it back home.
  18. Window play

Right click on the Simcity4 icon...one of the tabs should be Shortcut. About midway down there is a drop-down box Run. One of the options is normal window. Choose that...apply...then ok. Hope that works for you, rhino

Hi oneday13, welcome to Simtropolis! Traffic congestion is a major problem for a lot of players so you're not alone. However, if you check in the modding files section of the site you will find a download called the network addon mod (NAM) which can definitely relieve some of the problems you're experiencing. It has quite a bit of functionality and rather than giving you everything here, my suggestion is read the readme that comes with the download. It should help you tremendously. The NAM should help with the long commute times also. As far as where to place highways/avenues, that depends on where you're having the most congestion. Personally, I don't use many highways and avenues, but I don't normally create skyscraper jungles and high population cities. My suggestion is that before you start building and zoning, you think about where you're going to have your city center and densely zoned areas. This gives you an opportunity to plan ahead for highways and avenues and you can leave open areas where you know you're going to need them later. The other thing to consider is mass transit (buses, rail, subway, etc), which can be used to alleviate alot of heavy congestion. The commercial zones do provide jobs for the sims. Commercial zones can be placed next to or near residential zones and, in fact, you don't want them too far away because sims don't like to travel too far to get to them. Exactly where you place them is a matter of personal preference. I like to place them along routes that I know are being used by my sims (typically along routes that they are using to get to their jobs). Check the volume section of the traffic view and it should give you an idea of what routes their using. Finally, I don't think this was the correct forum to place this thread so I'm pretty sure it is going to end up being moved. Just for future reference, there is another section of the forums to post regarding game questions. Good luck, rhino
  20. New Battle Star Galactica

The episode tonight was uber good. I haven't watched in the past, but that was obviously a mistake...I can see I've been missing a quality show. The only bad thing is I will have to get caught up on whats been happening in earlier episodes.
  21. wall with illumination

  23. Post Your Picture Here!

I've never had the courage to post a picture of myself, but I think my kids are pretty awesome (I might be biased) so here's one of them. Just ignore the guy between them. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//P5300024%20for%20posting.jpg align=baseline> Sorry about the attachment...did that wrong the first time.
