Perhaps one of the most intricately ornamented structures in Columbia, South Carolina, the Palmetto Building opened its doors in 1913. Surpassing its neighbor, the sole skyscraper in the city now known as the Barringer Building, this goliath stretched fifteen stories into the sky. The 215-foot structure housed the Palmetto National Bank originally, but is now an office complex. | |||||||||
