The Liquor Control Board of Ontario was requested by one of our SimTropolis members a few months ago. I had built it, then was waiting for the lot to grow, and forgot about it! Matthew Keenan was a successful businessman and politician in Milwaukee, and eventually became an officer of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. The building is pressed Cream City brick, and was designed by Edward Townsend Mix. I made 4 color variations of this building, and three types of lots. On a recent trip to Milwaukee, I saw many buildings that really caught my eye. This is the first one BATted, there will be a few more. This was for many years known as the Northwestern National Life Insurance Co. It was designed by Ferry & Clas as a French Renaissance styled office building. It is also referred to as Beaux Arts style architecture. The small size is an interesting contrast to the architectural detailing. Located On the east side of Milwaukee, this is one of the few remaining ironclad buildings in the United States. It was designed by George H. Johnson and built between 1860 and 1861. The metal facade was brought in by ship from an eastern foundry and installed during the Civil War.
