Avalon EvolutionIt's my 30th entry, yay!As ideas and technology change so does the city. The city planners of Ionica have recently taken on the daunting task of improving and repairing Avalon's roads, parks, and rails. This has caused large disruptions in traffic in some of Avalon's busiest areas. However, the renovation has been welcomed by most citizens as the effects of the changes have already had a noticeable positive effect on the lifestyle of Avalon residents. The pictures below show the changes...

Welcome back toIn the MeanwhileWhile I'm currently working on a medium sized tile that seems to be taking forever to finish, I've also completed a few areas which I will share with you in the interim.Below is a neat little neighborhood that is located in Tan Chuduan, a small zone directly East of Prince Five Weapons. This neat little area was designed to give residents some breathing room in an otherwise very cramped and massive city. Each apartment has a two story single residence occupying the bottom...

Welcome back toSun Bu'erThis small zone is located north of Tan Chuduan, the one shown in the previous entry. As we get further from the center of the city we are starting to see lower density some residential areas which are a preview to what lies beyond the dreamy spires of Ionica. The canal in this Zone is the continuation of a series that travels across seven small Zone above Avalon and it serves no real purpose other than to allow Sims to leisurely travel from one Zone to the next.Open your window and...

Welcome back toCalm before the BlitzBlitzball is one of the most popular sports and there is currently only one Zone where it can be enjoyed: Pater. However, due to a lockout, the stadium has been silent for the last four months. Fortunately the situation has been resolved and games are set to resume next week. Blitzball is a sport over 1000 years old and is held in open-air water sphere stadium, designed in a traditional amphitheater style. Once the sphere is filled, a pair of triangular goals are...

I'm back, kind of...I originally expected to released this a couple of weeks after my last entry but I got busy with a few things and decided to take a little break. Also my PC's graphics just recently died and I still haven't received a replacement for it so I haven't been able to work on my city for the past week and a half. I probably won't be able to show anything new for a little while longer. The 1 year anniversary of my CJ is on April 13th so my next entry is probably going to be an epic recap of...

A lot of pictures incoming.I would like to start out by repeating the first thing I said when I started my CJ which was a thank you all the people and groups whose buildings and mods helped make this city possible. I've learned so much from regularly visiting this site and interacting with the people who make it so great, it has been really fun. I would also like to send out a general thank you to all the people who visit and comment regularly, you have all motivated me to create greater and grander...

Welcome back toWell it has been a long time but I am finally ready to start making a return. I still have a lot of things to do before I get Ionica up an running again, but in the meantime I'll share a few new pictures from around the city and from one of the new Zones I've been working on for the past couple of months.Special thanks to KonstantinII who has been custom LOTing some BATs for me and sharing them with the rest of Simtropolis.Garden of St. Michael's church in Wang Chu YiRemnant of Camelot in...

Welcome back toLast week a showed you a park my newest zone. That is just a fraction of a much bigger park called the Sarai Ecological Community in th middle of a low density residential neighborhood. This community, like many others in Ionica is based on the principles of Ecological Urbanism which is a theory of planning and design for urbanism arguing that landscape, rather than architecture, is more capable of organizing the city and enhancing the urban experience. In the bottom half of this picture you...

Ionica is a waterfront city and when the weather is right you can always find many of it's citizens in, on, or by the water. August is a special in Ionica because it is the Nautical Festival month where events like rowing, sailing, paddling, and yachting take place all around the city. It is at this time of the year, when it is a bit cooler, and the breeze a bit stronger, that Ionicans like to stay out on the water late into the night and early hours of the morning. The canal that crosses through...

Every once and a while I like to pull back the curtains to show you what I'm doing behind the scenes. Lately I've been alternating on working on three Zones. The first is Avalon which I've been working on repairing for months. Avalon is the only Zone that has survived the move over to my new region (Ionica) and I don't want to start from zero because I think it has some distinct features that are part of Ionica's identity. In the GIF below you see Avalon in 4 stages of development. The first one, with a lot...

Summer is coming to a close and that can only mean one thing in Ionica: Party Time! And where to party? In the Zone with the hottest night life in the city, Avalon.Every year at the end of August there is a long weekend and Ionicans flock to the heart of the city to celebrate the 'end of summer' and beginning of the work or school year. How does it sound if we spend the night out?Amongst the densely pack skyscrapers can be found some of the city's most popular rooftop bars, restaurants, and lounges.Mirror...

Thank you to all those who visited, commented, and rated my CJ in the past year. I was only able to bring you half the amount of entries as last year due to certain delays and complications (I spilled water into my computer), but I think the quality has improved a lot and I hope to continue that trend.Right now I'm just building up a lot of material so that when I do make a 'comeback' I will have lots of great stuff to show and I'll be able to do that a bit more consistently. Thanks to KonstantinII, I...

Around 6 months ago I was working on a University which I later abandoned in favor of other projects thinking I would finish it later. As my skill progressed and I acquired new BATs I realized that my grand vision for a top class University could not be achieved with my current layout and eventually decided to scrap the project and start again. While gathering material for my next batch of CJ entries I realized it would be a shame to let all this hard work go to waste so I've decided to show you the...

To kick off this 2014 season I give you a preview of what to expect in my CJ over the next few months. Some are projects that are nearly finished, others are plans I have for the future.AvalonThose who are familiar with my CJ will recognize the GIF below as Avalon, the heart of Ionica. I've almost finished rebuilding, all that is left to do is add a few more buildings such as The Shard London Bridge by Xyloxadoria and IFC2 v3 by paulvmonfort. It is still going to take a while for this tile to be complete....

Those of you who visited my Christmas CJ entry have already seen bits and pieces of what I am about to show you. This entry is the first of a three part series where I will show you some Marina styles I experimented with.To create these Marinas I used nbvc's Marinas, nbvc's Modular Breakwater Set, JENX Quais de Seine (revisited) which I don't like as much as the originals, paeng Castle Walk and Castle Walls, kazuki's Red Brick Walls, Walls Pack 2, and a variety of underwater mmps mainly by nbvc....

Welcome back,Thanks for all the feedback and encouragement.hahei - For sure the theme is cyberpunk, but there are a few Zones on the edges that are less dense and futuristic. I'm always experimenting with rural tools here and there.IL - The building the in last picture of my previous post is the by Cobb32118. I like the idea that my city sprawls as much underground as it does on the surface. Unfortunately in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0xVp3N-M84, the movie I posted a trailer for in my last entry, is a...
