Although Asian cultural influences can be seen all around Ionica there is still one place everyone lovingly refers to as Chinatown: the Fenghuang (Phoenix) Street Market in Walden II. Every side street is packed with activity and the odor of food, good and bad, attacks your nose from all directions. This is the southern entrance of the Fenghuang Market, it is generally considered to be the front entrance of Chinatown since it faces Sao Sing Sa park but others consider the North side the entrance because it faces the street with a tram line and station. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter it just gets a bit confusing when you make plans to meet at the front. (All of the photographs in this entry are taken by me.) Streets in downtown Ionica can get pretty packed but they are nothing like Chinatown where it so full of people you're practically walking shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you. The north gate of Fenghuang market on a rainy day. If you didn't bring an umbrella just pop in the nearest 7/11 and buy one, or wait it out one of the famous tea houses (I recommend Pavilion of the White Peony). Even the alleys are filled with little shops that sell all kinds of cheap knock-off bobbles and trinkets. It feels just like Hong Kong. The brown Kowloon-style building at the top left of this image is one of the oldest buildings in the area and inside you can still find one of the best, multi-Micheline star winning Dim Sum restaurants: Drunken Immortals (4th floor). The market gets even busier at night when business man and women come looking for some food and entertainment, but don't worry there is plenty of that to go around. Jenny's food cart around the corner from the Apple store sells some of the best Korean food in all of Ionica. Order anything and you are guranteed to be satisfied. If you're hestitant I recomment you at least try the Hotteok, a cinnamon and brown sugar pancake, fried on a griddle (too delicious!). Freddy Wong, a lively shop owner in Fenghuang, stares blankly at shoppers as his long day of work nears an end. At the end of the night street vendors pack it up and go home for some well earned rest, leaving the streets eerily desolate and silent. Comments, suggestions, and questions are always appreciated. Thanks for visiting. Schriefer: Great job again! You details and editing are so perfect... Thanks Schriefer. Gugu3: Very nice! Thnk you very much. blunder: Congratz on 50 entries! This CJ has so much win. Wow thanks. I'm glad you see it that way. TekindusT: These mosaics alone are a master on how to use everything with "HK" in front of its name! I'm honored by this compliment. HK is one of the biggest inspirations for Ionica. NielsC007: Good job! Thanks. Lord Branham: Fantastic work again!!!! You are so brilliant in your layout and tedious work ethic, which is clearly evident in your cities!! Love it! Thanks Lord Branham. Stay tuned! KonstantinII: I'm nominate you! Thank you so much Konstantin for all your support and your help. feeroz123: So many lights all over the entry ! Twinkling ! *** Just call me Mr. Sparkle! SimRico: Landed in Ionica just now on my weekly Around The World Tour of Featured CIties! The good folks of The Docs sends their Greetings as well as the Peytoners-Stepford Islanders. Staying at the highrize district and plenty room service as welll as cultural events to take in.Will stay overnight after an eloquent dinner and off i go tomorrow morning for the next city! Hope you enjoyed your stay. We'll roll out the red carpets for you any time you want to come back. SimCoug: Sorry, I'm trying to play catch-up and I just noticed this entry - awesome work with those nbvc marinas! Yes, be sorry, be very sorry. Thanks. Benedict: 50 entries is a fantastic achievement - great to see Ionica last this long. And this was another wonderful update. Hopefully you'll be back in business soon. I'm back, kind of... I originally expected to released this a couple of weeks after my last entry but I got busy with a few things and decided to take a little break. Also my PC's graphics just recently died and I still haven't received a replacement for it so I haven't been able to work on my city for the past week and a half. I probably won't be able to show anything new for a little while longer. The 1 year anniversary of my CJ is on April 13th so my next entry is probably going to be an epic recap of the past year's progress. Ready to Blitz? Welcome to Pater, home of the futuristic fast paced sports Blitzball and Disc Wars. The Aperture Arena, a replica of the Zanarkand Blitzball Stadium, hovers over the water in the center of an octagon surrounded by some of the most expensive Condominiums and Apartments in all of Ionica. At the feet of these waterfront properties are a series of intricately connected parks where residents and tourists can relax and leave behind the troubles of fast paced city life. The design of the entire area was heavily influenced by Feng Shui masters who were brought in to consult on the constructions of the Arena and surrounding area. Standing in the center above the Aperture Arena are the two towers Boaz and Jachin, named after the two pillars which stood in the porch of Solomon's Temple, the first Temple in Jerusalem. It is said that they represent the equilibrium between two opposite forces or a gateway to the sphere of the enlightened. To the right and left of Boaz and Jachin can be found Awen Court 1 and 2. The Awen courts are private housing estate and skyscrapers. They each have two towers of 45 and 54 floors, offering 1,624 serviced apartments, overlooking the Aperture Arena. The Awen is a druidic glyph with three vertical lines or rays converging at its apex. Awen in the Celtic language means "inspiration," and refers to spiritual illumination. The three rays of the Awen also symbolize the harmony of opposites- the left and right rays symbolizing female and male energy; the center ray, their harmonious balance. Next are the six Olympian towers. The tall yet slim structures of, three on each side of the octagon, house thousands of Ionican residents in ultra-modern luxury condo suites. Each tower is named after the six Gods that comprise the First Olympian Generation: Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Hestia, and Demeter. (Remember to click on the pics to see them in glorious full resolution) In the image below you can see the 3rd Awen Court which was not visible in the last image. Next to the third Awen Court is another dual pillar themed housing estate and skyscraper known as the Castor and Pollux towers. In fact there are dual pillar/twin skyscrapers on each orthogonal side of the octagon. Rowers race past Fraternity park along the Pater canal. "It's a nice day for a white wedding." St. Michael's Chapel is found in the park along the octagon. This small chapel is one of the most popular places in Ionica to get married and is often the sight of a few pre-game prayers by Blitzball players before big games. When Ionica had just gained its independence the small light house and observation tower used to be one of the tallest structure in the area which has now become the Zone of Pater. Now it is a mere anthill in comparison to the massive skyscrapers which now loom over the mouth of the octagon. The light house is now one of the few structures that remain from before the construction of the Aperture Arena and make-over of the surrounding area. The eight white towers in the middle of this picture comprise the City of Immortals Apartments. The towers represent The Eight Immortals, a group of legendary xian ("immortals; transcendents; saints") in Chinese mythology. Each Immortal's power can be transferred to a power tool that can bestow life or destroy evil. Together, these eight tools are called the "Covert Eight Immortals". Mimicking the tranquil formation of flowers floating on a pond, The City of Immortals' design harmoniously brings together serenity, comfort and convenience. The result is both liberating and secure. Let the games begin! Replies: Schulmanator: Snacks are ready to be deployed... when's the game?? The game starts a lot later than I expected. This entry was supposed to come a lot sooner lol. Hope you still have your snacks. blunder: The Zanarkand blitzball stadium! I don't think i've ever seen someone use that in a CJ before...This should be interesting. Yeah it is a hard BAT to fit in but I thought I'd give building something around it a shot. dubaidude303: Very interesting! Great work dude! Thanks, kind of a strange idea but I think it turned out quite well. ggamgus: Another amazing entry... Luckily, IoniCop got my stuff back. Thanks. Yeah he got your stuff back, and kicked ass in the process. Fox: Great looking parks, I'd love to work there and eat lunch down in the parks somewhere. Great to see someone has actually used that stadium bat you have over the water, looks perfect for your city. Thank you Fox. Hope you appreciate those parks even more now that you've seen them in fuller context. felano: i've been read your CJ from beginning.. i adore your story! its awesome! but honestly, in the early entries, it was so plain.. no photo-editing or else..but now, it was so great! and yes, i never seen anyone use the blitzball stadium in CJ, because its so dark, but you did well! Good to hear felano. It has been quite an evolution from then to now. Having a CJ is key cause it makes you want to improve so that you can 'compete' and keep up with some of the other great stuff here. Hazani Pratama: Nice City! Thank you. SimCoug: Hopefully the beer isn't overpriced. Nice work on the Parks205 along the waterfront! Discount on beer for Simtropolis members, but not Maxis and EA employees! Thanks, I love those parks, there is so much you can do with them and they look pretty, especially once you throw some trees in there. Totally inspired by some of paeng's stuff. KonstantinII: Very good futuristic looking city. Where you got those skyscrapers? Thanks. I got those buildings here there and everywhere. We'll talk about it through PM. Huston: I can't help but think the music seems to fit in with this update. But no doubt that this update is awesome, great job there Thanks. Too bad it took so long to release the follow up to the last one, but I think the end result is satisfying. Simul8ter8: Phenomenal work!! Thanks Simul8ter8, good to hear from you. RepublicMaster: The Music makes this even better! I like the canals and the night lights. Great stuff! Sweet, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for visiting Ionica. Rate, comment and +1 if you enjoyed the update.

Replies Simul8ter8: You have done it again.... just wonderful...Really like the new banner. Hey Simul8ter8, thanks. Felt like I needed a change for the banner, glad there has been positive feedback so far. Fox: Awesome City.. really love the pictures of dusk/dawn and the night picture .. the second and third picture. Love the use of the Spinnaker Tower, it's a bat that isn't used very often. Thanks Fox. Glad you enjoyed those pics, I got so lucky on the sunset pic, it wasn't even really intentional at first. I'll proudly feature any BAT by ILL Tonkso, like the Spinnaker Tower, he makes great stuff. dubaidude303: Love the update! Like the new banner!! Great work agian! Hey dude, glad you like it, thanks. I also like your new Avatar, what is that building? Just a concept right? IL.: Awesomeness Where did you get that obelisk? Gosh, I'm sorry IL, I meant to look at what it was called but I forgot to check. I'll keep my eyes open for you if you haven't figured it out yet. It comes in a bunch of size and you can find it on the ST/Exchange (whatever it is called). 10000000000000: That's beautiful in every sense of the word. Great building combination and outstanding choice of custom content! Hey 10000000000000, thanks. Veritas still has a few Maxis buildings here and there because it was built before I implemented a blocker, now I'm trying to diversify the buildings as much as possible. MamaLuigi945: Amazing pics! I love those mosaics. I agree with what ten trillion said; you have an astounding variety of buildings mixed with beautiful green areas. 5/5 & +1 Thanks Mama! Hazani Pratama: Good! Thank you. hiddentemple: The Mercure is now in international chain... okay with me? I guess it is... Veritas - Sports District This area was built to host International Sporting Events and was home of the World Games in 2158. Now, more than fifty years later, the stadiums remain some of the most attended in Ionica. The Central Stadium, commonly known as The Crystal Garden, is home field for the Veritas Judges; one of the best, but most hated, soccer teams in Ionica. If you live in Veritas you love them, if you don't you hate them; mostly because they win so much because the buy all the best players. Next to the Crystal Garden are the Veritas Swimming Center and the Sapphire Arena. Above the Crystal Garden is the old Fischer Baseball Stadium which has been around since the early days of Veritas. This area also features many residences and hotels where Sims can have a bird's eye view of all the action. The tallest being a Cobb Altura Tower where "there are numerous swimming pools and lounge areas, a sky-high tennis court, and even a small shopping center on the 19th floor. The observation lounge gives a dizzying view of nearly every rooftop in the city." The Altura Tower located in the Sports District of Veritas is one of the most expensive places to live in Ionica.
