Although Asian cultural influences can be seen all around Ionica there is still one place everyone lovingly refers to as Chinatown: the Fenghuang (Phoenix) Street Market in Walden II. Every side street is packed with activity and the odor of food, good and bad, attacks your nose from all directions. This is the southern entrance of the Fenghuang Market, it is generally considered to be the front entrance of Chinatown since it faces Sao Sing Sa park but others consider the North side the entrance because it faces the street with a tram line and station. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter it just gets a bit confusing when you make plans to meet at the front. (All of the photographs in this entry are taken by me.) Streets in downtown Ionica can get pretty packed but they are nothing like Chinatown where it so full of people you're practically walking shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you. The north gate of Fenghuang market on a rainy day. If you didn't bring an umbrella just pop in the nearest 7/11 and buy one, or wait it out one of the famous tea houses (I recommend Pavilion of the White Peony). Even the alleys are filled with little shops that sell all kinds of cheap knock-off bobbles and trinkets. It feels just like Hong Kong. The brown Kowloon-style building at the top left of this image is one of the oldest buildings in the area and inside you can still find one of the best, multi-Micheline star winning Dim Sum restaurants: Drunken Immortals (4th floor). The market gets even busier at night when business man and women come looking for some food and entertainment, but don't worry there is plenty of that to go around. Jenny's food cart around the corner from the Apple store sells some of the best Korean food in all of Ionica. Order anything and you are guranteed to be satisfied. If you're hestitant I recomment you at least try the Hotteok, a cinnamon and brown sugar pancake, fried on a griddle (too delicious!). Freddy Wong, a lively shop owner in Fenghuang, stares blankly at shoppers as his long day of work nears an end. At the end of the night street vendors pack it up and go home for some well earned rest, leaving the streets eerily desolate and silent. Comments, suggestions, and questions are always appreciated. Thanks for visiting. Schriefer: Great job again! You details and editing are so perfect... Thanks Schriefer. Gugu3: Very nice! Thnk you very much. blunder: Congratz on 50 entries! This CJ has so much win. Wow thanks. I'm glad you see it that way. TekindusT: These mosaics alone are a master on how to use everything with "HK" in front of its name! I'm honored by this compliment. HK is one of the biggest inspirations for Ionica. NielsC007: Good job! Thanks. Lord Branham: Fantastic work again!!!! You are so brilliant in your layout and tedious work ethic, which is clearly evident in your cities!! Love it! Thanks Lord Branham. Stay tuned! KonstantinII: I'm nominate you! Thank you so much Konstantin for all your support and your help. feeroz123: So many lights all over the entry ! Twinkling ! *** Just call me Mr. Sparkle! SimRico: Landed in Ionica just now on my weekly Around The World Tour of Featured CIties! The good folks of The Docs sends their Greetings as well as the Peytoners-Stepford Islanders. Staying at the highrize district and plenty room service as welll as cultural events to take in.Will stay overnight after an eloquent dinner and off i go tomorrow morning for the next city! Hope you enjoyed your stay. We'll roll out the red carpets for you any time you want to come back. SimCoug: Sorry, I'm trying to play catch-up and I just noticed this entry - awesome work with those nbvc marinas! Yes, be sorry, be very sorry. Thanks. Benedict: 50 entries is a fantastic achievement - great to see Ionica last this long. And this was another wonderful update. Hopefully you'll be back in business soon. Hey Ben, my computer is up and running again. SC4 up and running for the most part. Thanks.

Welcome back to In this entry we continue to explore the Sarai Ecological Community. Enjoy. All of the buildings that once stood in this mostly undeveloped area are now gone, except for the historic Von Roo Mill, which is now a gift shop. Here you can see one of the two models of homes available in the Ecological Community. All of the homes come with an Aquaponic Greenhouse and a swimming pool. Things like tennis courts, conservatories (which the model below has), statues, ponds, and playgrounds are optional. Below is the second model of house available in the Ecological Community. Each house is as energy efficient and self sustaining as possible. To achieve this, all of the homes have geothermal generators, which make them independent from each Zone's localized power grids. BBQ Night, every night. Keep an eye on your small dogs, I see a couple eagles over-head. Sleep well Ionica. Replies Ace❤: Always nice to see a highly detailed update from you. Great work with the parks. Perhaps those pesky kids were aiming for the flamingos? Thanks Ace. Feels good to be back. Nah, the kids weren't aiming for the flamingos, it is just what happens when you have a lot of birds around ball parks. Terring: Very nice Thanks. Forthwall: Pretty I like the parks! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks. 89James89: Some very nice neighborhoods you've got there. Cheers. James Thank you. Huston: The really vibrant colors in these images make them really 'spring to life' (It would've been a pun if it were a season before ). I have to really admire the way the park is laid out, very serene. Let's just hope that the number of flamingos hit this year by rogue baseballs are zero lol thanks. I like to bump up the saturation of bit to get that vibrancy. Yes, lets pray for those poor pink birds. Shortsonfire: Wow, love all the vibrant trees here. So many different types. Your park section is very unique, love all the different colors. Thanks. Took a long time to build. I'm glad you appreciated it. Hazani Pratama: The Park is Amazing! Thank you. KonstantinII: I see the ecological communities. All as is planned. Nothing left out. Nice to ride a bike though this park! Thanks for your help so far. i haven't had a chance t encorporate all your lots yet. More to come. kissflp: Very nice park indeed, exciting and lively. Where did you find that baseball field/ballpark? Thanks. I can't remember off the top of my head. Maybe if you post it in the Can't Find forum someone will know. SimCoug: Great ballparks - Wasn't it Randy Johnson who killed a seagull, or some type of bird with a fastball? Baseball and birds do not mix. Thanks. Not sure who it was who killed a bird, but I've seen a few examples as far as I remember. Lord Branham: Magnificent! I love the use of the water, it reminds me a bit of my home town where the houses back right into rivers leading to the lake! Great job as usual! Cool, I'm glad it evoked that memory. Thanks. Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome back to In the Meanwhile While I'm currently working on a medium sized tile that seems to be taking forever to finish, I've also completed a few areas which I will share with you in the interim. Below is a neat little neighborhood that is located in Tan Chuduan, a small zone directly East of Prince Five Weapons. This neat little area was designed to give residents some breathing room in an otherwise very cramped and massive city. Each apartment has a two story single residence occupying the bottom right of the building. Above that are three apartments accessed via the glass-walled staircase. These are very highly sought after properties, but there will be more neighborhoods like this constructed in the near future to alleviate demand. Here is a quick concept of a suburban residential area I have been working on which is near the edge of the city. Replies: Altec: Merry Christmas ! =) Thanks Altec, Happy New Year. Fox: Thanks for the follow up.. glad to know that I'll be able to party with my Borg friends in Ionica somewhere still..lol Nice update, some of the effects are a little too distracting, but the feeling of christmas is definitely in your City tonight. Best wishes and merry Christmas. You're welcome. Enjoy partying it up with the collective, i doubt you'll be able to resist. Yeah, to quote George Lucas: "I may have gone too far in some places", but it was more about the atmosphere than showing off my work. ggamgus: Your entries are always above my expectations, totally amazing... Keep it up! Sweet, thanks ggamgus. Schulmanator: Ho ho ho! Looks festive! Happy New Year Schulmanator! Congrats! Hazani Pratama: Nice Effects! Thanks Hazani. Efkin: merry christmas and nice effects Thanks, Happy New Year. RepublicMaster: Very Nice update, as always Glad you enjoyed it, thanks. dubaidude303: Look's great! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Thanks dude, Happy New Year. raynev1: Looks fantastic . Great video too. Thank you Raynev, glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year. Benedict: I like your Christmas changes to the banner. Congratulations! Ben's Top 100 2012 #6 Thanks, kind of a last minute thing. Whoa #6, amazing! Thanks for everyone's support. Welcome back, Replies Hazani Pratama: Wow,Awesome. Thanks Hazani. 10000000000000: That marina in the last picture totally got me , so amazing! Hehe, that's why I saved the pic for last. Whoever made that BAT is a frickin' genius. ggamgus: No offense, but this is LITERALLY the best update you've made. Please keep this up. This is an excellent entry. Offense taken! We shall settle this with pistols at dawn! dubaidude303: Very amazing!! Looks very very good dude! Thanks mate! vivapanda: That's a much used air space! As ggamgus sais, this is an absolutely awesome update. ggamgus, that scum! Thanks. SimCoug: Ooooh. I'm interested to see your take on the suburbs. Cool music too - I miss that show. Not ready to delve into those suburbs just yet, so we'll see what happens. Yeah, Battlestar was a sweet show, but in a way I'm glad it ended. I hate when shows just go on and on, makes me lose interest. I'm happy Battlestar had a set journey and fulfilled it. IL.: That's is amazing I love those canals and everything But those airplanes look like bugs or something, very annoying. Where did you get that marina in the last picture? Thanks, you may know this by now but it is the Morris Marina from the SC4 Devotion LEX. VMIUJcadet09: Good lord thats a dense city! I like it a lot. I also like that Ron Paul is your president, I see the Ron Paul Revolution got kicked off somewhere! Heh, you're the first person to point that out. Thanks. Acropolis This is another Zone outlying Avalon that I've given a makeover to. Acropolis previously has a University Campus but since I'm building an epic one in a bigger tile I ditched it. One of the main features I wanted to add to this Zone was some GLR tracks and I also wanted to make greater use of the space by getting rid of a lot of avenues that used to clutter my Zones. The South West part of Acropolis is part of Lazarus Island which is actually divided between three Zones: Olympus, Port Tong, and Acropolis. During the war for Independence one of the final strongholds of the Altherian Empire was on Lazarus Island and the canons in the waterfront parks commemorate their final stand against the Ionicans who eventually took the island. A little bit closer... By the Gods... Bird's eye... Thanks for visiting!

Replies 10000000000000: Awesome city!Extremely dense, but it doesn't lose any beauty The nightlighting is my favorite part! Thanks. For me, finding buildings with nice night lighting is key. vivapanda: You have put a lot of imagination in this: acadamic competition (absolutely awesome idea!), Stex godess, I like it! Thanks to this some sort of 'identity' is given to each building, important in such an enourmous city. Thanks vivapanda, I'm glad it has entertained you. SimCoug: Grid or not, that is one impressive, dense, city center. I like how you've mixed futuristic looking buildings along side very old structures - and I don't think they look out of place. Nice update. Hey SimCoug, thanks. I like to mix up the building styles because I imagine my city is open to the whole world. I also like a lot of old world buildings so I throw them in here and there as if my city bought them and imported them stone for stone. Maybe I should throw in a couple of American frontier/Western style buildings for you lol. Schulmanator: COOL! Nice mix of stuff gives it an uber cool effect! Thanks, there could be a bit more unity, but overall I agree. ggamgus: Great job! Why thank you! dubaidude303: Great work agian dude! Hey dude, thanks. Hazani Pratama: Wow,Nice! I appreciate your appreciation. LastTrueChamp: This city is popping with colour! Very vibrant. All the colors of the rainbow! (And boosted saturation in Photoshop, shhhhhsh) Fox: Once again you blow me away with your creativity .. and lol.. stargates Thanks Fox, glad you enjoyed it. Bold Purple! lesgaz: Waw impressive massive city I wanna live there Thanks lesgaz, we'll find a nice place for you to live. DanPeterson: Really nice. Can you tell me what the "Camille Paglia School For the Arts" building is? That would be the DEDWD Maddison Gallery City Builder 9111: You are a god of Sim City! Thanks. Not yet, but working on it. The Shape of Things to Come Okay, this entry is going to be a bit different from the others because I want to talk about where I see my city progressing and what kind of things I have in mind for it. I didn't start with a nice custom created region and I'm kind of making it up as a go along, so be easy on that aspect. When I first started my CJ, Ionica looked like this: Also, Ionica wasn't actually called Ionica, it was originally called Megatropolis, but I changed the name when I started my CJ because I don't think Megatropolis sounds so great, it was just a name I made up on the fly because I wasn't sure if the city would be a success or not. A few months ago I decided that I needed more space for bigger zones because in my original Region most of the tiles were very small and there were only three big ones. There were also many Zones that were quite amateur so I decided to ditch a lot of them and just keep the core of the city. This is what Ionica looks like now: As you can see Avalon is now actually in the center of the map and Veritas has been pushed to the far end. On the bottom left of the picture above you can see the University Campus I am currently working on. Originally I had a smallish campus in a Zone called Veritas but it was highly inadequate and I wanted something really vast and sprawling. I don't want to show it in detail yet but it is a beautiful combination of BATs, Parks, and MMPs. It is based around the University of Clayhurst which can be found here. On the bottom right there is the Ionican International Airport which is still a work in progress. There are still bits and pieces a need to collect to finish the puzzle, as well as a bit of trial and error. The idea is that the land the Airport is on will actually be an island but I haven't made the island yet because I don't know how big the Airport is going to be and it seems to get bigger and bigger. It probably isn't going to be ready for a while. The big tile above Qiu Chuji in the picture below is where I want to have the Ionican BAT Expo and Olympic/Simlympic Park. I don't intend to bid for the Simlympics this year, but I may some time in the future. This is a zone where I want to put some really big and beautiful BATs like the Biejing Grand National Theater, The Center for the Performing Arts by Xyloxadoria and the China Pavilion World Expo 2010 by dmscopio. As I go along I am rebuilding some of the Zones in the tiles that surround Avalon. Their biggest problem is that they don't make good use of the space. When I first started building cities I used Avenues like a madman and it just sucked out all the space. The Road and Rail layouts aren't optimal, so I have to re-do them. The first to be done was Illium which I showed in a previous entry. I just finished rebuilding Acropolis, and I'll show that in my next entry, I think. I intend to use a portion of the top right of the Region, which you can't really see in these pictures, to create a series of 'artificial' agricultural islands to be the bread baskets of Ionica and where I can use a lot of the rural BATs I have collected. As for the large tile on the top left, I intend to use it for a high class suburban type area where the dense city tappers off and all the rich people live in their huge homes. I have collected a lot of Mansion BATs but I haven't had a place to use them a lot yet. I also think the undeveloped bottom section of the region could serve as a kind of middle class suburb, we'll see. I know I want to have some less dense areas, I'm just not sure where they will be. Here are a few previews of the newest Zones I've built: If you look at the map above you will find the tiles these Zones are in right above Avalon. The seven small tiles from left to right, starting with Qiu Chuji, will be named after the Quanzhen Seven, the second generation of the Quanzhen Sect and disciples of the great reverend Wang Chongyang. Qiu Chuji Wang Chuyi Liu Chuxuan The beggining of a suburb? What's this? Thanks for visiting and commenting!

dubaidude303: Sweet! Where did you get that building in the 3rd photo, the one on the left in front of the HSBC building? I like it. Nice work! Glad you like it. Unfortunately I don't know where I got that building. I was doing some scavenging in the 'Can't find' forum post and I didn't favorite the website I got the building from but I think it is called Cocoon Tower from Japan. I'll try to trace my steps as it were to try and find it again. ggamgus: AWESOME. All I have to say. Thanks ggamus. Jimmy Buzaid: Amazing city. Great work!!! Thank you. Schulmanator: Awesome stuff... a Mickey D's moment... I'm lovin' it!! Much appreciated, thanks. westy177: always glad to help anyway nice update You had a good eye, thanks. ImanRafidin: cool, really really great, how you mixed the building, palcing some plaza, and transportaion network. I'm still working on diversifying the buildings. My city is a mix of styles rather than unified one. lucianmop:hey! hi there! i always enter to this page and see the amazing worlds users create, congratulations for that but where do you find those buildings?? There sure are a lot of great CJs here and you can easily find all the mods and buildings on the ST/Exchange on this website. Many of the buildings and mods I have come from there. Kevenbro: Really nice bro! Thanks. woodnava: yeah.. i see baiyoke tower & Millennium Residence Yup, those are in there. Hazani Pratama: where you download baiyoke tower Sorry, like I said to dubaidude, I didn't keep track of where I got a couple of buildings from it from, that one included. Fox: You are welcome for the link to the site. There's lots to look at and download there, and the CJ's.. there are some great ones. Another awesome update ..love the highrises. Thanks Fox. It will take me a while to scan through all the stuff on that site, but I have already found quite a few good things there. Mastof: You got a great update here, can't wait for more! Thanks Mastof - delivering, I hope. Updates Over the past week I've been gathering resources for the expansion of my city. I downloaded a lot of canals and I've also downloaded a lot of flora to try my hand and some MMPs and to integrate some more nature into my city. I'm also designating a few Zones for a few slightly more suburban areas, but that is not going to materialize just yet. I need to download one of those menu management mods because the list of things to choose from in my menu continues to expand. Illium (v.3) Continued - Population 182,472 I still need to diversify the buildings a bit more to avoid repetition, but that will come later. Enjoy... Thanks for visiting and commenting!

Welcome Back, Jetty Jockey: Wow, those Ionicans really know how to throw a party ! A truly overwhelming spectacle of sight and sound. Hey, mind if I use your background on Avalon for my Avalon, a real life island in southeastern New Jersey? Thanks Jetty, glad you enjoyed it. Feel free do use the historical description of Avalon, it isn't mine SimCoug: That is one amazing spectacle! I especially like the panorama. Awesome update! Hey SimCoug, thanks. Schulmanator: Wow! Great party! Thanks Schulmanator. Fox: Another awesome update .. thanks for sharing all those pictures. Love the mosaics at the end.. wow! Now it's time to go party! Sweet, you're welcome Fox. Hope you had fun. P.S. I finally registered to simcity.cn, thanks for showing me that. hahei: What an amazing job! Just asking, how did you add the fireworks in PhotoShop? Yeah, I used fireworks brushes in layers then I applied outer glow to them. Thanks. Simul8ter8: Oh La La!!! Merci, Merci. mystic_destiny: Pretty stuff O: Thanks mystic. dubaidude303: Awesome!! Thanks dude. westy177: wow awesome pictures PS a tip for the btm which you are using its not installed properly just chuckit in your nam core folder with zzz_ in front and the cantenaries and pylons will appear ) but still loved the fireworks Hey westy, thanks for pointing that out. I just fixed it recently and I'll have a pic in here to show you. magalenin: I love Ionica Absolutely awesome! Glad you enjoy it, thanks! rone: is this downloadable?? It isn't downloadable. What you need is all the buildings and the plugins which will require a lot of searching and downloading. Mastof: Congrats! Thanks Mastof. supercitys354262: I love ionica , have a nice next 100 years. Like! Awesome, I appreciate it. Ionica is going to be at least 4 to 5x bigger 100 years later. I_am_One: Nice metro area Thanks. Updates While doing renovations to Avalon i did a little terraforming and that caused me to want to have the zones right next to Avalon conform to those changes, the problem is that when you conform the edges of your zone to another zone stuff tends to get destroyed. This lead me to restart Illium, a Zone on the south west edge of Avalon, for the second time. Illium was one of the first zones I built and when I rebuilt it first time the Rialto Spire and kd5rax's Taipei 101 were it's main features but those later became centerpieces in Veritas and so it was no longer necessary to feature them. Also, westy177 pointed out that my Bullet Train Mod wasn't properly installed and I have corrected that error thanks to his help. Illium (v.3) - Population 173,526 I'm not showing everything yet because there is still some work to be done in some areas. I don't know the name of the arena I used because I downloaded it from some Asian website. in my next entry i'll do a before and after comparison of this version and the older version of Illium. I apologize in advance for the UDI, I wasn't really paying attention, I don't even notice it, but I will turn it off next time. I know how much some people despise it. Thanks again westy177. Thanks for visiting.

Ionica - Counting Down to the Bicentennial in Avalon
MilitantRadical posted a City Journal entry in Ionica
Welcome back, dubaidude303 - Thanks, glad you're enjoying it. Simul8ter8 - Whoa, that is incredibly hard to answer. I've been thinking about this for a week and I can't say what my favorite building is especially now that I have so many. Sorry, I'm just not a favorites kind of person lol. zahrul3 - Thanks. I really wish there were more futuristic of fictional BATs. I'll have to make a list or a CJ called buildings I wish were BATs. For example the Tyrell Corp building from Blade Runner. corydreinhardt - Funny that you ask because last week when I released my CJ the answer would have been yes there are a lot of traffic jams. I used to get the traffic jam pop up once and a while but I usually ignore it. Then after doing a lot of tweaking and adding some parking lots here and there I haven't had that message appear at all. I don't know what did it, but I don't have traffic problems right now. westy177 - Thanks West! SimCoug - Thank you. Haven't added much yet, but I'll get back into it soon. Cobra_nVidia - Thanks. The city has grown fairly organically. There were only a few landmarks I set up when designed it. The Khalifa being one of them. Now it is just a competition for space much like a real city and I'm replacing a lot of smaller buildings with skyscrapers as the population increases. Fox - Glad you enjoy. I'm glad I still have older versions of my city. mecute24 - I got the birdsnest here at Simtropolis.com hahei - Climate Change? Never heard of it. Updates The airport is on hold for a little bit. I wanted to publish an entry as a follow up to my last one much sooner but I had some problems with Avalon while I was doing some renovations which has lead to repeated delays. Now I've finally collected a lot of pictures from my city and and working on a few mosaics. I still have a bit more work but here is a quick preview: The Clock is Ticking 2199 is coming to a close, where will you be in the New Century? Lady of the Lake Park Although Ionica is a Republic that has rejected undemocratic forms of government like Monarchies, Avalon was built as a symbol to honor benevolent leaders, like King Arthur, who recognize that their purpose is to serve the people. This park is near the Camelot train station and will see thousands of visitors walk it's path during the Bicentennial. The monument at the center depicts Merlin watching the Lady of the Lake present Excalibur and four knights, Lancelot, Perceval, Galahad, and Tristan, protecting last resting place of King Arthur. Stonehenge Park This ancient solar temple is a gift from the former Empire of Altherion to commemorate the Bicentennial. Relations between the two nations have been rocky ever since Ionica declared independence two hundred years ago, but we graciously accepted this monument as a token of friendship. Stonehenge will be the site of a spectacular fireworks show during the celebrations. Castle Waterfront This waterfront park was built specifically for the Bicentennial with stones brought directly from the real Island of Avalon which was proven to be real by renown Ionican archeologist Devron Thesson in 2033. Lets start this party with a bang! The Lighthouse Tower Hotel overlooks the Vesica Piscis Stadium (Bird's nest stadium) and is one of best places to see all the action during the festivities. Your guide to the Bicentennial coming soon!- 12 Comments
