  8. 68 - A Year In Review

Welcome back! I'm gearing up for a new season of CJ entries but it's still going to take me a few months until I'm ready to release on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. By this time last year I'd already managed to release around 13 entries despite having numerous computer "meltdowns" after installing NAM 32 and eventually switching to a newer computer. I guess I was eager to move up a couple points on Ben's yearly Top 100 after being stuck at #6 for two years in a row. Last year I experimented a lot with marinas. This was mainly due to the fact that a lot of the tiles I was working on were by the water. I was also inspired by a lot of paeng and OlScare / Benoit's work. Technically my first entry of 2014 was The University That Never Was but since I scrapped that tile and it wasn't specifically made for the 2014 season I'm not including it in this review. Anyway, until I can get my act together for 2015 I present you a small review of all the tiles I created in 2014 and a few previews of things to come. Enjoy! Tile Name: Venus Size: Small Seen In: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (12/21/2013), Marina Fun pt.1 (01/26/2014) Tile Name: Aren Size: Small Seen In: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (12/21/2013), Marina Fun pt.2 (02/02/2014) Tile Name: Eon Size: Small Seen In: Marina Fun pt.3 (02/12/2014) Name: Walden II Size: Medium Seen In: Chinatown (02/24/2014), Chinatown Mosaics (03/18/2014) Tile Name: Sierra Size: Small Seen In: Believe In Magic (03/03/2014), Summoning (03/11/2014), Sierra Mosaics (03/25/2014) Tile Name: Archon Size: Small Seen In: Come Tomorrow (05/06/2014), Selected Scenes (05/11/2014), Archon (05/17/2014) Tile Name: Huang Yaoshi (Peach Blossom Bay) Size: Medium Seen In: Selected Scenes (05/11/2014), Wild for the Night (05/25/2015), Before/After (06/02/2014), Random One (06/11/2014) Peach Blossom Bay Mosaics (06/21/2014), One Magical Night (12/24/2014) Tile Name: Baron Size: Small Seen In: Random One (06/11/2014) Tile Name: Seaview Size: Small Seen In: Seaview (11/16/2014) Tile Name: Illium (4.0) Size - Medium Seen In: Illium Revisited (11/26/2014), One Magical Night (12/24/2014) Tile Name: Emerald Size: Medium Seen In: Hanging Gardens of Ionica (12/06/2014), One Magical Night (12/24/2014) Here is a gif that compares what my region looked like in January 2014 with May 2015. A lot of small changes have been made in the past year but the most glaring change is Avalon (the center tile). Due to certain problems I decided to restart Avalon from scratch. It's going to take a while to finish because I'm carefully selecting BATs as well as creating a few custom lots, but it's for the best. The tile below is a reboot of Zoolander. I decided to have a do-over because the roads changed when I remade Illium and I figured Zoolander should conform. This also led me to rebuild the tile to the right of Zoolander, Acropolis. Zoolander is actually full grown now and is around 98% complete. I just need to make a few changes to some buildings before it is ready to present. This is an industrial seaport I'm working on. It still needs a lot of work; I can already see a few things that need to be improved in this pic, and I'm having a lot of trouble with those ATEX tubes (they don't really connect the way I want them to). Here is something more at the finished product stage. I just need to find the time to create some CJ entries but it's going to be hard to do that this month since my free time is probably going to be dedicated to playing Witcher 3 as well as a wedding (not mine) and a bunch of birthdays in June. Comments, suggestions, and questions are always appreciated. Thanks for visiting. I'll probably make my comeback around mid-July, I hope. See you then!
  9. 66 - Hanging Gardens of Ionica

Welcome to Emerald, the Zone that is home to the largest man-made park in the entire city called The Hanging Gardens of Ionica which takes up half of the entire Zone. Inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Pyramid of the Sun, The Hanging Gardens of Ionica is a combination of a park and a pyramid which consists of four levels. At the top is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, The Lotus Flower, which is a Science and Technology museum. However, some have speculated that under The Lotus Flower is a super secretive Artificial Intelligence research lab run by the Electronic and Virtual Logistics Corporation in partnership with the Ionican government. The park has 8 entrances. The main entrance is on the South side and it is the only one that leads all the way to The Lotus Flower on the fourth level. This is the South-West entrance to the park. The buildings that surround the Hanging Gardens are of course placed to provide its residents the best possible access and views of the park. On the Western side we can see low rise mini-apartments arranged in a criss--cross formation as seen in other Zones like Sarai and Tan Chudan. The entrance on the North West side faces the Emerald Mall, the largest horizontal mall in the inner-city. The Northern entrance is the narrowest of the 8 and it faces Emerald's financial district. You will often see stock-brokers and hedge fund managers walking through the park during lunch hour. Near the North East entrance to the park can be found the Guggenheim Ionica, an art museum which features some of the greatest contemporary and classic art collections the world has ever known. On the East side is Emerald College, a small but prestigious school funded by EVL Corp. (Electronic and Virtual Logistics Corporation) which focuses on Computer Sciences. The in the frame may look old, but inside the facilities are state of the art. The headquarters of EVL Corp. looks directly on to the South East entrance of the park. It is alleged that the super secret AI research lab inside/underneath The Hanging Gardens can be accessed through this building. Here is a close up view of one of the diagonal sides of the pyramid. And finally we reach the top where we see The Lotus Flower, or as some have dubbed it The Temple of Science and Technology. Inside is a state of the art museum that displays some of the newest and most advanced prototypes and scientific theories. It's not the type of museum that looks back to the past, but forward to the future. A bird's eye view reviews the epic scale of park/pyramid and gives a stunning look at how the water cascades all the way from the top. Then night falls and the Hanging Gardens of Ionica become an even more magnificent sight to behold. A beam of purple light reaches all the way to the sky and reaches out as a beacon of hope for the world. Some have speculated that the light beams signals to satellites in outer-space but no one has been able to confirm that the beam is sending out any signals. The rest is more of that Ionica night-magic. Enjoy! Comments, suggestions, and questions are always appreciated. Thanks for visiting. slickbg56: THE GIF! You've outdone yourself here. That's pretty impressive that you had photos of the before and after of the city after all that time. I've never seen that tricked out shiny black building in the 4th picture. Pretty futuristic. Well done on the constant rebuilding. Ah yes, The Borg cube. Such a fantastic BAT. Thanks. Ln X: That Borg cube building is frickin' awesome! Star Trek nerdgasm! Pretty much my reaction when I first found it on the STEX. Simul8ter8: Always awe-stricken after seeing your journal. keep at it. It's been a long time Simul8ter8. I've been hoping to see you make a comeback. Thanks. Schulmanator: The city planners have been busy increasing awesomeness... Looking good! Great settings for great buildings. With people like you around I'm always inspired to make something bigger and better. Thanks. Mymyjp: Like LnX, your "Borg" looking building is so awesome! Funny thing is that I was actually watching it on TV! lol Excellent job as always. Ah, watching shows on TV, I remember when I used to do that. Thanks Mymyjp. Benedict: Congratulations, your CJ is number one on Ben's Top Ten this week. Brilliant work again this week - and you're still at number one on BTT. My thanks to everyone who visit and supports this CJ. And to you Ben for diligently compiling all these stats and maintaining the lists. KonstantinII: I really can't say which version of Illium I like more, the old one, or the new one? Both are good. That is an impressive re-design of the city. I am probably too lazy to have re-designed a large city like that. I particularly like the vertical farms in this image. Nice touch of realism there. It would be realistic to have vertical farms to feed all the people who live here. Countries that import most of their food are too dependent on foreign trade. I think that from a distance the older version may look slightly more impressive but when you got up close you could see it was a real mess. I love those vertical farms too. Thanks. Huston: Beautiful redesign. It looks so much more fluid with the new design! And I'm glad to see one of my BATs tucked in comfortably in your city And to think I made a Illium related update as well AWesome job overall Militant Yeah there are actually 2 instances of your BAT in that city. The Mayhem Memorial Plaza is probably one of my most used BATs these days. Thanks for sharing it. Pretty funny that we both released an Illium update in the same week. Get out of my head Huston! Or wait, maybe I'm in yours... Terring: Great work, dude Good to hear from ya. Thanks. TekindusT: THIS is urban renewal!! Yeah, feels like I've been doing a lot of that recently. jmsepe: Nice image sceneries, I like the one with the terminal station near the waterfront. Glad you like it. Thanks. Basilins: How do you make that Toyota Center work ? I think there is no road connection but it needs that. That's not the Toyota Center. It's the Tokyo Dome, can't remember where I got it. mrsmartman: Great work. I am curious that you keep remaking the city of Illium. Personally, I like the one with more buildings. I've re-made quite a few tiles, I've only remade Illium the most because it is one of the oldest. I think I do it because I'm not satisfied. At a glace the one with more buildings might look better but when you go in and look at the layout of the roads and buildings you see it isn't as good.
  10. 63 - Return to Pater

Well it's been a while. Just a small update to get things rolling again. I've had a few set backs here and there. My CBD tile Avalon suffered an epic meltdown and it's going to take a while for me to rebuild it. However that gives me the opportunity to make it better than ever before since I'm not constricted by it's original design. I'm trying to make it similar to how it was before with certain key landmarks still in place so it retains that "Avalon look" but otherwise it's going to be a whole new beast. For those of you who have followed my CJ over the past couple years Pater and the Blitzball stadium will be quite familiar, I've just made a few changes here and there. I changed the sea walls so that they match some of the adjoining zones and I've also tweaked the parks to make them a bit more symmetrical and less cluttered. Check out my entry called Opening Night Blitz if you want to do a little Before and After comparison or if you are new to this CJ. Click images to view full size. Hope your screen is high-res. Enjoy! Comments, suggestions, and questions are always appreciated. Thanks for visiting. Terring, Ln X, TekindusT, Fox, raynev1, agunter999, tankmank, kschmidt, magalenin, Anubis104, NecoraNecora, nos.17, plantsvszombies, suomi2005, stockslips, feeroz123, asdas Thanks for your comments and support. Stay tuned. ggamgus: You just OUTDID every single science-fiction city ever made for any television program, movie or videogame in history. *applauds for 20 minutes straight* I don't know if I'm worth of such high praise but thanks a lot. dlsni: dude i just broke my jaw Hope you've had time to heal. Thanks. sarthakknight: lol i can't find mine i must have dropped it somewhere!! Here let me get that for you. *Picks up jaw and hands it back to sarthakknight* Lord Branham: I am honestly speechless. You have not created a city, but a masterpiece! Your use of buildings, parks, and water is unrivaled! I honestly cannot put in to words how marvelously you have done here. I look forward to your next creation, enjoy your break! Thanks Branham, it took a lot of work and I'm glad you appreciate it. jmsepe: How the hell do you always make that!!?? Everything is just so atmospherically pleasant! The harbor, the downtown, the roads, gosh I might end up writing an essay just to say how beautiful your city is. lol, thanks jmsepe. Benedict: Amazing scenes as always - and well done, you're back at number one this week on BTT. Ahh, to be king for a day! spursrule14: You know you're going something right when you make it to the Best of the Best and #1 on Ben's top 10. Belfastsocrates: Absolutely superb CJ! I adore the attention to detail and abundance of custom content and lots. It's incredibly attractive visually and a joy to read through. P.S. I'm also rather thankful I have a fast broadband connection lol Yeah high bandwidth is key. Unfortunately it is still unavailable in some areas (not mine). Thanks Belfastsocrates. KonstantinII: It just only that the city looks a bit unprotected against the sea. What if a tsunami came, and all the city will be ruined. Also it is sad to think of what could happen if someone dropped a bomb on it. It looks beautiful, but a little vulnerable. Don't worry, Ionica is well protected from the sea. There are many breakwaters, canals, and pipes that are designed to divert water in case of disasters. Ionica is also very well protected from military attacks. I plan on building some military bases in the future and we also have a tight satellite defense system with particle beam weapons that can take out any incoming enemy aircraft or missiles.
  11. Ionica - Marina Fun pt.2

The fun continues. Enjoy! Side Note: My progress just got set back by a week because I ran CHKDSK on my computer and that totally messed it up for some reason. Data gone! So weird 'cause I felt like some computer related catastrophe was going to impede my progress and in an attempt to make sure my computer was in the best condition I ran CHKDSK and that ended up killing it. Such a shame because I had designed some really amazing stuff for y'all. Remember to keep up to date backups of your region and your plugins. Comments, suggestions, and questions are always appreciated. Thanks for visiting. Ln X, TekindusT, zlotka, Lost Realist, Terring, Cottoncandy Cyanide, Huston, UndercoverNinja12, Republic Master, tankman, Hazani Pratama, CGMozart118. Thank you for your comments and support. Stay tuned. zlotka: On your last picture (not the region shot), where could I find the building on the right that has MNC on it? It is the MNC Tower by roe99. blunder: Interestingly, out of all the stuff to notice what struck me is the use of the curves in the nbvc marina wall for the harbor egress. Nice touch Thanks for noticing. I was inspired by marina walls I've seen in real life. Lord Branham: I am in love with your water!!! It is so beautiful!! Thanks. It is the PEG Brigantine Water Mod. KonstantinII: now I must look at your images and study your building style for my own city. Study away bud. I always pay attention to building orientation. I also always start a tile with a concept or BATs I really want to use then I create the world around them. Best of luck. Schriefer: Wow, really nice! I loved it!Btw, that clouds are effects or MODs? They're only effects. Wouldn't it be awesome if SC4 full fledged weather engine. Fox: Awesome regional picture, really puts things in to perspective. Love the waterfront area, every piece from the plazas, marina, harbor walls to the coral.Love the sunken rail too, great job with those bridges. Thanks. A lot of people seemed to enjoy that region shot which totally wasn't part of my CJ entry. Gannet simply asked to see the region and I delivered. Worked out i guess. krbe: Mega comment because I like building airports, and like seeing them realistic Oh, and because it's your fault I downloaded the marinas. I'm usually no fan of the all high-rise mega cities (since they tend to look bland from the air, and even blander on the ground), but your neighbourhoods really do look nice. The riverworks are especially good. Hahaha! Everyone should have nbvc marinas. I'm glad my mega-city catches your eye. IL.: Great work! You can make some small towns around here and there on your map (it wil not take much time) with some farm lands and forests, just so you don't leave thos empty tiles. Your map will look more realistic too, and you'll be developing towns and changing roads and stuff one by one just like real life I like the idea of the ancient buildings and remaining like the city walls and the temple (y) I really like this city! Thanks for your great suggestions. I will certainly fill up some of that land with some forests and farms. However I play with a central planning method. I don't build tiles small parts at a time, I build it all at once. Glad you like my eye for history.
  12. Ionica - Signs in the Stars

Welcome back to Sagittarius Ionica was founded in the sign of Sagittarius which is why one of it's predominant symbols is the archer. This Zone bares the name of the stars under which our great city was born. Snow is rare in Ionica, but when it does snow it is a sight to behold. Lets hope whe have some for Christmas. As usual all of the mosaics are in high resolution and you can see the full size by clicking on them, enjoy. Replies ggamgus: Woww... Such a huge city. One would expect it to have 20-30 million people. Well you have to remember that Ionica is the city and Prince Five Weapons is a Zone within that city. The population of Ionica itself is currently only 4 million and it is constantly fluctuating because I'm doing a lot of construction and it isn't even fully built yet. I think I only have 40-50% of the Region built right now. raynev1: WOW ,I,m in shock , This looks fantastic. Thanks, much appreciated. Harbin91: Love that road bridge next to the rail station. Thanks, it was kind of a weird idea but I wanted to have it so that the roads didn't cross the rails to keep the traffic flowing nicely. Schulmanator: Great looking area! Some very nifty structures. What's the slanty one? I like it and it is quite different. Thanks, there are so many buildings that I'm trying to find the right place for. The slanty one is called the Yosoko building but I really can't remember where I snatched it from. I sifted through the Can't Find Thread to find it. dubaidude303: One word.. Amazing! Great work dude! Thanks dude. Glad you're stickin' with. Hazani Pratama: Very Beautiful! Thanks Hazani. hahei: Woh, I love it! BTW, as you were saying about the future being Asian, I'd say It would be a mix of everything. Also, maybe you should read a book called "Physics of the Future", I think it has many new ideas that could be translated into city building. Thanks hahei. For sure the future isn't Asian, that's more of an old school sci-fi mentality that you get from films like Blade Runner, even Serenity (not old school). I think I'll pick up Physics of the Future over the holidays; it sounds terrifying lol. Still, the world is going to end on Dec. 21st 2012 anyway, so Michio Kaku is totally wrong. Mayans 1, Kaku 0. Just kidding. city89: where did u get the sports complex and train station can u give the link thanks. I think the stadium you are talking about is the Dixon Kennedy Stadium, as for the rails stations which everyone is asking about I'm not so sure anymore, sorry. SimCoug: Great use of transportation networks - I'm curious how well used they are - it seems with all those high density buildings you would get some great mass transit usage. Great pics as always. Thanks, there is a big demand for mass transit in my city and that big station gets around 54% usage right now. However, I still have a lot of stuff to sort out because I'm totally revamping the rail systems throughout the city. When I first built the city it was really amateurish and traffic was even more of a nightmare, so I have to disconnect and rerout a lot of rail lines right now. supercitys354262: Where did you get the Y interchange from that road?????????????// I'm Speechless. It can be found here. Thanks. Lislie: What a beautiful city and what a beautifal railway station. Is there a possibility it can be put online? Thanks, sorry about the rail station, I haven't come across it again. I'm sure someone knows and can point it out eventually. evanm1487: i don't know how anyone couldn't love this, nice job Me neither , thanks. KonstantinII: The story is a bit too long and I didn't bother to read throught it anyway I like this city.I will soon create a city at start of 22 century.Ionica will have a neighbor as technologically advanced. Some of the pictures do not show up also. http://community.sim...e-colonists/You should use this mod to make your cities more futuristic. Thanks, however I believe Ionica is technically in the 23rd century. Check out my New Years 2200 C.E. entry if you haven't already. Anyway, I gladly welcome a neighbor into a similar era. Strange that some of the pics aren't showing, I think the problem may have been on your end. Thanks for passing along those futuristic industrial BATs. Kruness: if i might be fair i don't think this is good stuff, i think its AWESOME stuff!! you were thinking i was gonna leave a bad reaction didn't you? im evil MUHAHAHA!! IT'S NOT GOOD! ? - Oh , its awesome ! Thanks. Adjiebrotot: that is veryyy wonderfulll Thank you. hjbk: Not fair... some people are nice... and some are just genius Great, great, GREAT city Still workin on it, thanks. Thanks for stopping by!
  13. Ionica - Prince Five Weapons

Welcome back to Prince Five Weapons This Zone gets its name from the story of Prince Five Weapons which goes something like this: There once was a young Prince who had just finished his studies under a world renowned teacher. Having received as a symbol of his distinction the title Prince Five Weapons, he accepted the five weapons that his teacher gave him, bowed and, armed with the new weapons, set out of the road leading to the city of his father, the king. On the way he came to a certain forest. People at the mouth of the forest warned him: "Sir Prince, do not enter this forest," they said, "an old Ogre live here named Sticky Hair. He kills every man he sees." But the Prince was confident and fearless as a lion. He entered the forest just the same. When he reached the heart of it the Ogre showed himself. The Ogre had increased his size to that of a palm tree. He had created for himself a head as big as a summer house, with bell shaped pinnacle; eyes as big as alms bowls; two tusks as big as giant bulbs or buds; he had the beak of a hawk; his belly was covered with blotches; his hands and feet were dark green. "Where are you going?" the Ogre demanded. "Halt! You are my prey!" Prince Five Weapons answered without fear but with great confidence in the arts and crafts he had learned. "Ogre," said he, "I know what I was about when I entered this forest. You would do well to be careful about attacking me, for with an arrow steeped in poison I will pierce your flesh and fell you and the spot." Having thus threatened the Ogre, the young Prince fitted to his bow an arrow steeped in deadly poison and let fly. It stuck right in the Ogre's hair (bow and arrow counts as two weapons for some reason). Then he let fly one after an other, fifty arrows, all stuck right to the Ogre's hair. The Ogre shook off every one of those arrows letting them fall right at his feet and approached the young Prince. Prince Five Weapons threatened the Ogre a second time and drawing his sword delivered a masterly blow. The sword, thirty three inches long, stuck right to the Ogre's hair. Then the Prince smote him with a spear, that also stuck right to his hair. Perceiving that the spear had stuck he smote him with a club, that also stuck right to his hair. When he saw that the club had stuck he said: "Master Ogre, you have never heard of me before, I am Prince Five Weapons, when I entered this forest infested by you I took no account of bows and such weapons. When I entered this forest I took only account of myself. Now I am going to beat you and pound you into powder and dust." Having thus made known his determination, with a yell he struck the Ogre with his right hand. His hand stuck right to the Ogre's hair. He struck him with his left had, that also stuck. He struck him with his right foot, that also stuck. He struck him with his left foot, that also stuck. Thought he: "I will beat you with my head and pound you into powder and dust." He struck him with his head...that also stuck right to the Ogre's hair. Prince Five Weapons, snared five times, stuck fast in five places, dangled from the Ogre's body. But for all that he was unafraid, undaunted. As for the Ogre, he thought: "This is some lion of a man. Some man of noble birth. No mere man. For although he has been caught by an Ogre like me he appears neither to tremble or quake. In all the time I have harried this road I have never, never seen a single man to match him. Why prey is he not afraid? Not daring to eat the Prince he asked: "Youth, why are you not afraid? Why are you not terrified with the fear of death?" "Ogre, why should I be afraid? For in one life, one death is absolutely certain. What's more, I have in my belly a thunderbolt for weapon. If you eat me, you will not be able to digest that weapon. It will tear your insides to tatters and fragments and will kill you. In that case we will both perish. That's why I'm not afraid." Prince Five Weapons, the reader must know, was referring to the weapon of knowledge within him. "What this youth said is true," thought the Ogre terrified with the fear of death. From the body of this lion of a man my stomach would not be able to digest a fragment of flesh even so small as a kidney bean. I'll let him go." And he let Prince Five Weapons go. The future king preached the doctrine to him, subdued him, made himself benign and then transformed him into a spirit entitled to receive offerings in the forest. Having admonished the Ogre to be heedful the youth departed form the forest and at the mouth of the forest told his story to others, then went his way. As a symbol of the world to which the five senses glue us and which cannot be pressed aside by the actions of physical organs, Sticky Hair was subdued only when the Prince, no longer protected by the five weapons of his momentary name and physical character, resorted to the unnamed, invisible sixth: The divine thunderbolt of the knowledge of the transcendent principle which is beyond the phenomenal realm of names and forms. Therewith, the situation changed. He was no longer caught, but released, for that which he now remembered himself to be is ever free. The force of the monster of phenomenality was dispelled and was rendered self denying, self denying he became divine, a spirit entitled to receive offerings, as is the world itself when known not as final, but as a mere name and form of that which transcends, yet is imminent within all names and forms. And now enjoy Prince Five Weapons. Replies Altec: Oh it's a very funny mix of different kind of buildings ! I agree. Thanks, my city is kind of a multicultural melting plot with heavy Asian influences cause the future is Asian. LastTrueChamp: Great futuristic style. This city seems like something from the not so distant future. Thanks LTC, I'm kinda going for something like that, too bad there isn't a flying car mod yet. dubaidude303: I love the fog and clouds, amazing work again dude! Thanks for stopping by on the regular dude. JGellock: Very modern and well done! I like the GLR work I see. Thanks, glad you noticed it and enjoyed it. ggamgus: That is a very lovely environment... Thanks ggamgus. lovemax: that is a good job at photo-shopping Why thank you lovemax. Hazani Pratama: excellent Thanks delphi.1981: Awesome city! That gives me so many ideas now that I am back playing SC4. I was wondering where you got the first department in the first pic? Hey delphi, I'm not sure which department you are talking about. Do you mean apartment. Anyway, thanks, glad you were inspired. Kruness: is that autumn of Ionica? or is it the last summer in The Netherlands? no just kidding, awesome photoshopping, and the city afcourse. Heh, thanks Kruness. supercitys354262: I wish that the netherlands is a metropolis. very nice city. 1999999999999999/10. Whoa, epic score, thanks. daybreak:Amazing downtown! I really enjoyed the tour. Where did you get the different avenue road look along with the intersection walkways? Thanks for sharing I'm still looking for where I got that particular overpass, gimme some time, I'm sure I'll spot it while doing some lurking. Thanks for stopping by. Happy Halloween!
  14. Ionica - Autumn Dank

Welcome back to Autumn Dank I haven't finished the tile I'm working on right now so I've just put together a few new mosaics of some old stuff. Enjoy. It's unpleasantly moist or humid; damp and, often, chilly. It's Autumn Dank. Replies Schulmanator: Impressive! Their effort is a great success. Thanks Shulmanator, glad you enjoyed it. Jacob Guajardo: Wow I am speechless great work. Sweet, thank you. 10000000000000: Simply gorgeous pictures! Great photoediting effects to accompany them Great to hear that from you, thanks. Simul8ter8: WOW........................ the end..... hey...hey you.... what building is that at the end? Thanks Simul8ter8, I think the building you are talking about is called Equity Tower and you can find it on the ST/Exchange. dubaidude303: Great work agian dude! Hey dude, thanks. ggamgus: Yet another epic entry. BTW, Daniel Craig is mah favorite! Brosnan and Connery can't compare! >:-D It certainly turned out that way, thanks ggamgus. BTW, that's blasphemy! Can't wait to see the new Bond film. spursrule14: James Bond is my favorite film character and movie series EVER. I grew up on Bond, and am still pretty much obsessed w/ Bond...and still pretending I'm Bond myself lol.........I grew up w/ Pierce Brosnan so he will always be my favorite...but Daniel Craig may be the coolest Bond of all of them, although I always wished they wouldn't make him have to be so built. But Connery was big too...Craig is definitely a Connery-type. I think the reason DC seems strange as Bond to some people then, and still, may be because he came after PB, which is a very different contrast. If DC had existed right after Connery then I think no one would think DC as Bond is strange.............oh, and excellent work on this entry lol Thanks spursrule. Still pretending to be Bond, jokes. Who doesn't want to play Bond once and a while? But be careful with that license to kill. I feel Daniel Craig had the good fortune of being in a great Bond film, Casino Royal, but I don't think he really embodies Bond in the same way Connery and Brosnan did. It's not that I have i problem with Bond being muscular, that's cool, but I also want Bond to be really suave, I don't think DC had that. Also, Quantum of Solace is pretty bad, not the worst Bond, but down there. I really like Brosnan because he was kind of a prefect cross between Connery and Moore. Unfortunately, PB was in a couple of terrible Bond films (World is not Enough and Die Another Day) and that shredded his Bond cred a little. See you at the next Bond film . Mayorjacks: O_O oh...my.....*faints* BTAVO SIR Thanks Jetty Jockey: Wow ! Very modern, very colorful. Great stuff ! Thanks Jetty, glad you enjoyed it. Hazani Pratama: Beautiful,I love it! Thanks for your continued support Hazani. IL.: it is very inspiring Glad it inspired you IL. blunder: Loving the canals! And you would take Dalton and Lazenby over Craig? Eh....that would be tough to do for me, i hated those 2. Thanks blunder. That's just my opinion. I don't necessarily blame Craig for his portrayal of Bond, but they toned down the charisma way too much and it hurt him I think. SimCoug: Yes, Connery is the best Bond... hell, he's the best everything. Those canals are awesome - makes me want to take a trip down them in one of those fancy boats. Thanks SimCoug! You're frikin' right, Connery is the best everything. He's a regular Midas, and he ages well like a fine wine! Ryno917: Gorgeous! Where did you get the avenue pedestrian overpasses? I haven't seen any ped bridges that large before. Thanks Ryno, bripizza is the answer I believe. Haljackey: Good work! Very vivid images! Thanks, glad it added some color to your day. hammysonata:Amazing work! I love the humor you use also ("Free pedal boats for everyone") Well, I mean, who doesn't want a free pedal boat? Thanks. stocktons_pimp: this is inspirational... i think i'll put some canals in my downtown like that Glad you were inspired! Do it! hahei: Nice! Moore More, I say when it comes to James Bond. I hate Craig, he's just a hunk of muscle with barely any personality. We certainly see eye to eye on this subject. Moore was a great Bond, some of the films he was in weren't, but that doesn't matter. Man with the Golden Gun is one of my favorite Bond films. Did you see the graph that came out recently that shows the kill count from each Bond film? In Man with the Golden Gun, Bond kills only one person. Frikin bad ass! NMUSpidey: I'd argue that Lazenby was actually in one of the better Bond movies, the greatly underappreciated "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". It had an interesting, complex plot, good locations, it followed the book almost word for word, and Lazenby put in a pretty good performance in the saddest ending for the franchise. I'm fine with Daniel Craig, his coldness matches up with the character from the books quite well. Roger Moore was goofy, but I can't help but love all his movies, too. At some level, all of them work for me! Anyways, have I never visited this journal before? If not, I am ashamed, because these are amazing pictures, and this entry is especially beautiful with the canals being featured. Did you include the Morris Marina? I hope the people there watch out for falling pianos... Glad you stopped by Spidey. I am a huge fan of OHMSS and I totally agree with your analysis even though I didn't read the book. I feel Lazenby gets a lot of flack because he was basically replacing Connery at the time and had he just been Connery's successor rather than his replacement he would have been recognized as a great Bond. Liszak: My god that....that's just you know...WOOW! Thanks Lisazak. whistlewind12: wow.... Thanks peep12: where did you get that tower in the 9th picture great work. Thanks for your support, that building was acquired on the ST/Exchange. mk11232: Which street mod is that in the 13th picture? The one where the street goes to elevated with the separated lanes in the very bottom of the pic? Thanks for your support mk11232. (I've answered your question in a message) Benedict: Great update - and congratulations, you're back at number one on BTT this week. Wow, that is...terrifying! Thanks for stopping by.
  15. Ionica - Zoolander

Welcome back to Replies Fox: Love the photoshopped in weather.. amazing talent. Thanks Fox, glad you think so. Mithrik: Incredible job with the rain effects, great job! Thanks Mithrik. 10000000000000: I can say one thing with complete confidence here: EPIC. Love the "Better tell the people in the boats the get out of the pond..." pic Sweet, I'm glad you really liked it. ggamgus: Amazun... I shot myself to distract you... *BANG!* (*bullet hits the tree 200 ft away*) Thanks ggamgus *Bullet causes tree stump to crack and fall on Militant's head; concussion* Schulmanator: SWEET! Well done!!! Appreciated Schul. hammysonata: Oh cool!! Love the lightening picture! Glad you liked it. Thanks. Hazani Pratama: Very Awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Hazani. Jacob Guajardo: Wow such great work it looks so real Cool, thanks Jake. SimCoug: Nice photo editing! Every time I try to do something in Photoshop I feel overwhelmed by all the tools and options. Have you tried the DAMN menu? It is a lifesaver, especially on my Parks menu. There is a great tutorial over at SimPeg if you are interested. Once you know how to do a few things in Photoshop it opens up. It's all about layers. Can't seem to get my head around the DAMN menu, but thanks for showing that to me. I'll PM you when I feel like taking another crack at it, right now I'm okay with my formula, slow as it may be. sucram17:great weather pics. enjoyed it. Thanks. dubaidude303: Speechless.... Amazing weather pics!. Very nice indeed dude Hey dude, Thanks. September always seems to have a temper. mattbuildsbuildings1234: awesome road/rail system especially around the roundabout, awesome job! Thanks, glad you appreciated it. Mastof: Great Work Militant, Love the photo editing. Thanks Mastof, figured I'd try my hand at some rain, seen other do it before, so it was my turn. mrblisterdunde: This stuff is why Sim City 4 is still a new game after eight years. To think of how far it's come. My sentiments exactly. Great comment, thanks. evanm1487: all you did was copy and paste images from google, shame on you! just kidding, that's some great editing. Damn, you caught me! Thanks. BayernMunich: Great BAT mix, love it! Thank Bayern. newyorka: How did you get the times square like buildings in this picture? At least 90% of the buildings in the pic you showed me were from the ST/Exchange, look up nofunk and Jasoncw. magalenin: Simply E-P-I-C! Thanks magalenin. Over the past decade, male modeling has had a shadow cast over it by one man and five syllables: Der - ek - zoo - lan - der Without further ado I give you: the Derek Zoolander Center for Kids who Can't Read Good, And Wanna Learn to do Other Good Stuff Too. At the top of this mosaic you can see Ionica's newest and most advanced medical research facility. The Dina Cliente is part of Poseidon Cruise's newest fleet of cruise ships. It is rumored that Jimmy James, philanthropist billionaire and owner of Poseidon cruises, is building a massive cruise ship to live on. At the bottom of this pic you can see the waterfront park where you can find Café Matin, one of the most popular breakfast joints in the whole zone. You will usually be met by a massive lineup when you get there, but it is worth the wait. No reservations, take a number, go walk in the park while you wait. Tonight the Kobe Wing Stadium is quiet, but it will be roaring with cheers tomorrow as the Zoolander F.C. continue to fight for a spot in the championship. Nights tend to get cold in September, but not cold enough to deter the cruise ship passengers from stepping out on deck and taking a deep breath of that crisp, cool, September air. Enjoy the warm weather and green trees while it lasts. Thanks for stopping by.
  16. Ionica - Acropolis

Welcome back, Replies Hazani Pratama: Wow,Awesome. Thanks Hazani. 10000000000000: That marina in the last picture totally got me , so amazing! Hehe, that's why I saved the pic for last. Whoever made that BAT is a frickin' genius. ggamgus: No offense, but this is LITERALLY the best update you've made. Please keep this up. This is an excellent entry. Offense taken! We shall settle this with pistols at dawn! dubaidude303: Very amazing!! Looks very very good dude! Thanks mate! vivapanda: That's a much used air space! As ggamgus sais, this is an absolutely awesome update. ggamgus, that scum! Thanks. SimCoug: Ooooh. I'm interested to see your take on the suburbs. Cool music too - I miss that show. Not ready to delve into those suburbs just yet, so we'll see what happens. Yeah, Battlestar was a sweet show, but in a way I'm glad it ended. I hate when shows just go on and on, makes me lose interest. I'm happy Battlestar had a set journey and fulfilled it. IL.: That's is amazing I love those canals and everything But those airplanes look like bugs or something, very annoying. Where did you get that marina in the last picture? Thanks, you may know this by now but it is the Morris Marina from the SC4 Devotion LEX. VMIUJcadet09: Good lord thats a dense city! I like it a lot. I also like that Ron Paul is your president, I see the Ron Paul Revolution got kicked off somewhere! Heh, you're the first person to point that out. Thanks. Acropolis This is another Zone outlying Avalon that I've given a makeover to. Acropolis previously has a University Campus but since I'm building an epic one in a bigger tile I ditched it. One of the main features I wanted to add to this Zone was some GLR tracks and I also wanted to make greater use of the space by getting rid of a lot of avenues that used to clutter my Zones. The South West part of Acropolis is part of Lazarus Island which is actually divided between three Zones: Olympus, Port Tong, and Acropolis. During the war for Independence one of the final strongholds of the Altherian Empire was on Lazarus Island and the canons in the waterfront parks commemorate their final stand against the Ionicans who eventually took the island. A little bit closer... By the Gods... Bird's eye... Thanks for visiting!
  17. Ionica - Veritas: South East Art District

Replies Simul8ter8: *shaking head* Ugh... this... thisss...thing.... IS SOO DANG GOOD!!! Golly, thanks Simul8ter8! dubaidude303: WOW! This looks very good! Hey dude, thank you very much, there is much more to come from Veritas, it has been build for a while, just polishing it up right now. Schulmanator: Great new stuff !This rox! Thanks Shulmanator! Hazani Pratama: Amazing Night! Glad you enjoy it, I have a few nice night pics in here as well. keenan1695: awesome! where did you find the train station in the third picture? Hey keenan, thanks. That train station is actually tricky to find and it took me a while to track in down in the ST/Exchange. I found it when I was using the search term 'expo'. The station is called Estacao do Oriente, just click on the link. AusBoy94: I want all of this! ~The outdoor theatre (Chicago I think?) ~The Samsung building ~And the elevated rail station! You can find it all on the ST/Exchange, but if you still need help finding them I could try to track them down for you. SimCoug: So many different BATs! I was looking at the far zoom pic and I was having trouble finding two of the same building - and that is a lot of buildings! Nice job - I'm looking forward to your MMP ponds Hey SimCoug, thanks. Yeah, I have a whole lot of BATs, so hard to keep track of them. I have a little notebook with some hilarious scribbled notes of lot sizes and names. I should take a picture and show it some time. There is a small example of a paeg free water pond in this entry, it isn't as good as another one I've got going in a zone I'm currently building, it is just a taste. MamaLuigi945: That is one beautiful metropolis! It has a nice mixture of trees and buildings/plazas, and the variety of buildings is stunning. And that mosaic...Great work. Thanks MamaLuigi, stay tuned, Veritas has a lot more to offer. IL.: Great work This is amazing. It looks like a futuristic city Very futuristic indeed.5 from me. Hey IL, nice to hear from you. Thanks, I wish I could make it even more futuristic, I guess it is kind of a not so distant future. There needs to be a flying car mod. tastycakes - very very pretty. 5 stars Thanks. burnzie_16: must have taken so much time! wow Yeah it most certainly did, especially since on my computer it takes at least 15mins to load a big zone like this one and I've lost a lot of progress due to random crashes. Thank God I backup my region and plugins. cesarisaias95 Beautiful city! Thank you cesarisaias. This is all I know... Veritas - Art District Located in the South East Area of Veritas, the art district provides unparalleled access to the world's greatest artists an their works. The Guggenheim Ionica is One of the most admired works of contemporary architecture, the building has been hailed as a "signal moment in the architectural culture", because it represents "one of those rare moments when critics, academics, and the general public were all completely united about something." (Matt Tyrnauer, Vanity Fair) The museum notably houses "large-scale, site-specific works and installations by contemporary artists and displays the work of Basque artists, "as well as housing a selection of works" from the Foundation's modern art collection. The exhibitions change often; the museum generally hosts thematic exhibitions, centered for example on Chinese or Russian art.Traditional paintings and sculptures are a minority compared to installations and electronic forms. The highlight of the collection, and its only permanent exhibit, is The Matter of Time (also referred to as Snake), a series of weathering steel sculptures designed by Serra, which is housed in the 430-foot Arcelor Gallery. The collections usually highlight Avant-garde art, 22nd century abstraction, and non-objective art. There is also the Museum of Meso-Ionican Art where you can find the world's largest and most extensive collection of pre-Altherionic art. Directly behind the Museum of Meso-Ionican art is a restoration of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, an art galery dedicated to the natural art created by our world, flora. If you are looking for the classics you can find them at the Ionican National Art Gallery or the Iupiter Temple Gallery located south of the Museum of Meso-Ionican Art. There are also many independent galleries, most of which can be found in the sunken plazas in front of the Guggenheim Ionica. Enjoy! The mosaics are nice an high-res, I recommend you click on them. Thanks for stopping by!
  18. Ionica - Veritas: Central District

MamaLuigi945: Stunning nature. 5/5 Go T.R.E.E.S.! Thanks MamaLuigi! dubaidude303:Looks like my grandparents woods and river!!!, except for the dump trucks and pit lol, Looks amazing!! Go TREES! I appreciate it dude. westy177: mmp epicness awesome job and just a question does ionica get a lot of plane crashes lol Thanks, not all the way epicness just yet but I'm working my way up and learning the tricks of the mmp trade but I don't think I'll be as skilled as paeng or SimCoug any time soon. There have been a few airline crashes but we have great air-traffic control. hahei:Save the forests! Does Ionica have any floating cities it can build above the forest? Nah, we're not that advanced. Fox: Awesome forest pictures.. very pretty. That is one decent city in that regional view... wow .. it is huge. Thanks Fox, that region view is a bit old, I moved most of my city onto a new region recently but that move cost me 20 to 30% of the region so I'm building it back up even better now. dabadon5: OMG save the trees! Sorry, we need to dig out that unobtanium. Simul8ter8: Trees, Trees, GOOOO TREES!!! I love the little bit of Fantasy look to the update! Thanks Simul8ter8, tried out something different for a change. SimCoug: Great nature! I like how you blended the mine in with the trees - and any update with George Carlin is worthy of 5 stars IMHO. lol, glad you recognize the Carlin! I've been very inspired by things I've seen in your CJ so I'm trying out some MMPs, working on integrating some more nature into my city. Updates Over the past couple of weeks I've been experimenting with canals and MMPs. I recently realized that I didn't haven paeng's freewaters properly installed but I rectified the problem and am on my way to designing some epic ponds. i haven't had a chance to continue the airport, but I've got a few things going that I want to finish first. Veritas - Population 880,000 If Avalon were the heart of Ionica, Veritas would be the brain. It is the largest hub of high finance and government in Ionica. While the congress and the Residence/Office of the President are in Avalon the rest of the government operates out of Veritas. As many know, Veritas gets its name from the Latin word for truth and it was supposed to be a reminder that the foundation of business and government should be honesty. However, when dissatisfied with government citizens of Ionica will often refer to Veritas as Mendacitas which means untruthful or dishonest. There are still quite a few ugly blue RTMT bus stops that I used to use but they are slowly being phased out. I'll detail the functions of some of these buildings next time. Thanks for visiting and commenting.
  19. Ionica - Save the Trees

MamaLuigi945: Very lively city; I like the night shots. The second to last pic is my favorite. Nice use of plazas and a good variety of BATs. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it. dubaidude303: Wow! I really like this! Looks cool! Hey dude, thanks. ggamgus: Illium-inated city! I love it! Yes, very lively. I aim to please, thanks. westy177: wow i love the bright vibrant colours and epic buildings and dont worry i wont pull you up about that maxis highway you have but if maarten was here look out lol. anyway youll be getting a +1 and 5stars good job Hey westy, I kind of don't know what to do with my highways. I feel like I've built so much of my city already and I'm afraid I might be locked in to the Maxis Highways for now. Thanks for the high marks! Fox: Stunning update! Love the mosaic! I also love the little bridge section in the second picture .. that just draws my attention.. it looks great. Such variety in buildings too .. great job! Hey Fox, I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for stopping by. NMUSpidey: Very nice, I always say night shots are just wonderful to look at. The towers are nice, of course, but I think the real gem here is how sensational your parks look, those ones down beneath the slopes in the second picture are really, really cool. Hey NMUSpidey, I love night shots also. I always try to use buildings that have nice nightlight. Hopefully I will have even nicer parks in the future, those ones were kind of experiments, just testing what I can do with them. SimCoug: The photo editing of the mosaic is brilliant, and I really like how you mixed the retaining walls with the plopable rocks in the second picture. Very creative and it looks very natural. Thanks SimCoug, it was kind of a random idea to do that and I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm slowly figuring out MMPs but I'm nowhere near your level. ganjaman95: great f#@$ job!!! f#@$ thanks! Schulmanator: That totally rocks! Thank you sir. Hazani Pratama: Amazing Thanks. Sharaunque1: Truly outrageous! I think i would kill for your plugin's folder Well, I do have a hit list... Around 80% of all the plugins I've downloaded so far. kakado_to_save: i agree with the above. My army is growing one assassin at a time. Mwhahahaha! Save The Trees This is not an accurate representation of what Ionica looks like right now. Ionica continues to grow by leaps and bounds but there is a price to pay. Worldwide, around 3.7 millions of hectare of natural forest is lost per year due to deforestation and expansion of the city. In Ionica, the rate of deforestation has improved from the past decade to about 1.08-1.80 million ha annually. While the improvement is cherished, this is not enough. The rate is still considered to be the world’s fastest, about ten times of the world’s average. More than eighty thousand Ionicans depend on the forest. The biodiversity and resource rich forest is the source most of their livelihood. And for the birds, about 54% of the Important Bird Areas in Ionica are outside the protected area networks. The rest are mostly on natural production forest. It is then important not to endanger the natural production forest. While the plantation forest is needed to provide timber for development, the role of natural forest is undoubtedly vital. Natural forest is much more than tree stands. It is a complex interaction of various elements of life and non-life. It also holds so much more carbon stocks than other type of forest. With the climate change in mind, we know that natural forest is favored over plantation. The good news is there are a lot of Sims who want to save the forests. The bad news is that saving forests is not going to be easy. It will take the efforts of many Sims working together in order to ensure that forests and their wildlife will survive for your Simlings to appreciate, enjoy, and benefit from. Some steps for saving forests and, on a broader scale, ecosystems around the world can be abbreviated as TREES: - Teach others about the importance of the environment and how they can help save forests. - Restore damaged ecosystems by planting trees on land where forests have been cut down. - Encourage people to live in a way that doesn't hurt the environment - Establish parks to protect rainforests and wildlife - Support companies that operate in ways that minimize damage to the environment Thanks for visiting and commenting!
  20. Zones of Ionica - December in Aphrodite II

Welcome back, Thanks for all the feedback and encouragement. SimCoug - Thank you. gman28 - I totally agree with your observation. I've been thinking of relocating the elements of this Zone in a newer better designed one. This Zone was made quite a while ago when I had an obsession with avenues for some reason. There are a lot of older zones that I tend to re-do because they are ugly and follow more novice design principles. Schulmanator - Glad you enjoyed it, thanks NurelFayed - Thanks. frdrcklim - lol, I'm so used to the French Tintin names. At first I was like: "Calculus? Who the heck is that?" In French he is called Tournesol which means Sun Flower. Updates Not much to report. Over the weekend I rebuilt the Zone called Aphrodite and I've decided to share the results with you since I am satisfied. I rebuilt this Zone because like a lot the Zones I built in the early days of Ionica it isn't well designed. There were way too many avenues surrounding every neighborhood, it was a very poor use of space. I also took this chance to expand the GLR into this zone and I will probably rebuild the next Zone over, Scorpio, to further expand it. Aphrodite II - Population 58,386 This is the first zone I got to use the JENXPARIS Pont Notre Dame TRAM IN ROAD bridge and boy does it work well and look cool! I'm surprised there aren't more tram-in-road bridges, aw well. I don't have a snow mod, and maybe I will consider using one for an even more wintery look. I'm just hesitant to dl a snow mod because as far as I know they aren't seasonal which would mean that I would have to install and uninstall the plugin every time. I lost the Bank of Moscow building (it disappeared) because the terrain was slightly uneven, too bad, it is such a nice building. I know, it is spring time and most of us want to forget about winter but since most of the pictures were taken while my seasonal trees were in autumn and winter mode I thought I'd try some Photoshop snow effects Thanks for visiting and thank you Simtropolis.
