City-building game(s)

  1. I can't figure out why my IHT isn't growing in this region. I have a lot of IHT CAP, the desirability is good and I have a lot of available vacant jobs. General Area Desirability RCI
  2. So I've recently installed Colossus Addom Mod v2.1 in order to really spruce up my city centre with skysrcaper variety, and it's been absolutely brilliant. So brilliant, in fact, that I figured I'd apply the same thing to farming areas and industrial areas - the maxis varieties are shocking (so many wheat silos) and even the SPAM is now a bit outdated, so I installed the CAM options for farming and a bunch of new IM/ID/IHT buildings that are CAM-patible. I also have installed a bunch of new medium-density buildings and heaps of mattb's stuff in the interim, as well as mucked around with my terrain grass textures and sidewalk stuff as some of you know, so I'm thus having some trouble chasing down the source of my current problem. As you can see (ignore the erased parts of the left shot, that's just me blending layers in photoshop) something has changed the base textures of many (but not all) industrial lots, including standard maxis buildings. If they had been switched to some random concrete or dirt texture it probably wouldn't bother me, but the new textures are quite clearly the wrong size, like they were designed for completely different lots or some such. The textures occasionally extend over the top of the adjacent road or street, overwriting them and making it look really weird with cars traversing random bits of ground. I've tried deleting some BSC texture packs I installed as dependencies for the new industrial lots, and even removing the entire IRM base pack (which it looks like some of the textures have comes from) but no effect. I'm assuming since they replaced whatever textures were there before, I shouldn't have to delete the building and let it regrow in order to change them back. Does anyone know which files are capable of overwriting existing base textures for industrial lots? Has anyone else encountered similar issues? I've also got several base textures that are now missing entirely, but since I use a bright pink background those are fairly easy to detect and overwrite with some other random concrete through photoshop, but obviously something I've done has messed with ALL the industrial base textures and I need to revert. Many cheers gang, TheCouncill0r. EDIT: Deleting any and all files related to IRM seems to have eliminated the extended textures, but something in the games still seems to want them there, as they've now been replaced by the see-through problems. Again, this is only the case with standard maxis lots, so it can't be a dependency issue, no?
  3. Pfizer Laboratory

Pfizer Laboratory by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- As the world waits for the roll-outs of vaccines to combat the effects of the pandemic and enjoy a return to a semblance of normal life, I thought I would make a BAT of one of the companies responsible. There are many companies making vaccines around the globe: Pfizer is one of them. This is based on one of the massive facilities in Andover MA (it is not a recreation, as that would take about 40 tiles)... Despite being scaled back considerably, this is still a massive IHT Bat by SC4 standards, and the complex angles help break the grid. The building is offered as an I-HT growable Anchor on an 8x8 lot (use the CTRL key while zoning dense industrial to assist in growth) or download Buggis extra cheats to make this ploppable from a drop down menu. It is suited to both CAM and non-CAM cities and provides 292 Hi Tech jobs. --------------------------------------- STATS I-HT: Lot size : 8x8 Growth Stage: 3 (High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: $ 417 Capacity Satisfied: I-HT 1,508 Pollution: 21 (Air)/ 8 (Water)/ 6 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 157 Mwh Water Consumed: 147 Gal/Month Occupant Group: Industrial Hi-Tech Anchor Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: There are two model files in this download. You must select the appropriate file from the download. The file suffixed with 'DN' is for those users with a night-time darkening mod installed. The file suffixed with 'MN' is for users who do not have any such mods installed. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. Jenquai Alchemy, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Another Maxis Hi-tech ( stalwart gets a 21st Century facelift. Jenquai goes from that small half underground building which steps back from the lot (and is accessed via a sort of draw-bridge) to a shiny, new and much larger facility. Just like the previous building which had sunken areas and elevated walkways, this new IHT factory provides a lovely, leafy sunken courtyard for employees to take lunch as well as a raised walkway connecting the two buildings. This version is a Hi-Tech growable anchor 6x6 lot (use the CTRL key when zoning to ensure the correct lot size) and will not interfere with any Maxis blockers or re-lots of the original Jenquai Alchemy. --------------------------------------- STATS IH-T§§§: Lot size : 6x6 (Use the CTRL key when zoning) Growth Stage: 3 (Medium and High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: § 391 Capacity Satisfied: IHT§§§ 838 Pollution: 16 (Air)/ 6 (Water)/ 5 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 117 Mwh Water Consumed: 109 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: Hi Tech Industrial Anchor Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot or Desc files! If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. --------------------------------------- A NOTE ABOUT PARKING TEXTURES: Sadly, if there appears to be any parking used in the content picture as either part of, or adjacent to the custom content in question, it has now come to the ridiculous scenario of having to write a blurb about parking textures given yet more comments received form only one or two users (comments which incidentally are only made on my lots - I note that other active Batters use Maxis parking lots all the time and receive no negative comments, such is the double-standard). Please note that I will use whatever parking textures I feel like on my lots. Stratton Biotech, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- As part of providing some much needed, long overdue upgrades to some of the Maxis I-HT stalwarts, I decided that Stratton Biotech deserved a new 're-imaging' for the 21st Century. After all, it has been filling up any I-HT zone for almost 15 years, so it is probably due for some extra space. Please note that this new file doesn't interfere with the original Maxis files and will work for those who have a Maxis blocker installed. This I-HT Anchor lot comes in two flavours: 4x4 and 8x8 (use the CTRL Key while zoning to ensure that you get the correct lot size). It is growable only on medium and high density Industrial zones and provides between 204 and 1,122 jobs (depending on the lot size). The building itself is strictly fictional: I have used exposed steel girders, a false wall and false window panelling to shelter a central courtyard. This lends a more substantial air to the front façade. Stats, links and dependencies are listed below. --------------------------------------- STATS (IHT): 4x4 LOT Growth Stage: 3 (medium and high density zones) Bulldoze Cost: §289 Capacity Satisfied: IH-T 204 Pollution: 5 (Air)/ 2 (Water)/ 4 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 38 Mwh Water Consumed: 35 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: IHT Anchor Building 8x8 LOT Growth Stage: 3 (medium and high density zones) Bulldoze Cost: §1,066 Capacity Satisfied: IH-T 1,112 Pollution: 18 (Air)/ 7 (Water)/ 5 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 135 Mwh Water Consumed: 126 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro Occupant Group: IHT Anchor Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. Max's Microchips, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- As part of providing some much needed, long overdue upgrades to some of the Maxis I-HT stalwarts, I decided that Max's Microchips deserved a new 're-imaging' for the 21st Century. This I-HT Anchor lot comes in two flavours: 6x6 and 8x8 (use the CTRL Key while zoning to ensure that you get the correct lot size). It is growable only on medium and high density Industrial zones and provides 1,184 jobs. The building itself is strictly fictional; although I drew inspiration from the some of the Industrial developments that are springing up in SE Asia where large areas of the building activity and function are contained underground. This is one such building as evidenced by the sloping driveway and reflective pond covered roof punctuated by air intake vents. The two floors visible from street level are for office and reception space. Oran-Nayar-Blinn Research Center, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- I really like the in-game research center, but I dislike the fact that it generates radiation, reduces residential desirability, lowers your mayor rating and is something of a NIMBY building. It seems like a lot of sacrifice for the benefit of increasing High Tech Industry (IHT) demand and desirability. So, I've made another research facility which has all of the benefits with none of the draw-backs. The Oran-Nayar-Blinn Research facility is a strikingly designed ultra-modern building situated on a leafy 7x7 campus-styled lot. It is just as suited to the middle of an industrial area as it is in a suburban or ex-urban space. In addition to providing your sims with many highly desirable civic jobs, it will help alleviate the IHT demand caps that can hinder city development (by increasing IHT demand by 130,000 places). It has also been modded to provide some residential and commercial cap relief by providing both Park and Landmark effects. All these benefits do have a cost (which is only fair). In addition to the §25K outlay, this will set the city back §250 per month. * It is offered as a reward without needing pre-existing conditions. * It is located in the REWARD Menu. * It can be placed more than once in a city. * It DOES NOT over-write the in-game Advanced Research Center (or any re-lotted versions there-of), so can be used in conjunction with the standard Maxis reward. Placing rewards is an essential part of growing a large city and region, given their cap-busting and desirability increasing effects. --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 7 x 7 Plop Cost: §25,000 Monthly Cost: §250 Budget Item: Government Buildings Occupant Groups: Reward, TV Magnet, YIMBY Demand Created: Jobs§: 0, Jobs§§: 523, Jobs§§§: 274. 9. I've got my little region running smoothly, every zone is operating according to plan, and every zone is making money. But a problem has developed....I can only seem to get my educated sims to demand IHT, while CO $$ and $$$ demand remain negative in every zone. More details below: Region: Fairview Pop: about 450k Land Usage: about 50% I've tried moving CO jobs closer to residents, no change. In certain zones, I also have the Stock Market and Convention Center awards among other, still negative demand. On the surface, it would seem that I should just continue to "build out", making more and more industrial zones to satisfy this demand. My problem with it though is that IHT is not a very dense industry in terms of jobs (maybe 100-200 tops per building, while CO can offer thousands of jobs per building), eventually, I'll end up in the same position, with my land maxed out and still a demand for IHT. Is there a way to "convert" all this IHT to CO demand? I was under the impression that the requirements for sims to demand these job types was "education". So if they are demanding IHT, would they not also demand CO (either $$ or $$$)? Any ideas?
  10. SPAR Distribution

SPAR Distribution, by Mattb325 Though the buildings in this BAT are purely fictional, SPAR food retailers are not; with over 12,000 stores in 35 countries, the logistics required to ship so many products (fresh and packaged) requires serious space and dedicated infrastructure. To that end, I have created a series of BATs to fulfill both CS and IHT demand. The main office building has a mix of differently tinted glass and balconies, and, as is so common in industrial parks, the large warehousing area is high-clearance and pre-fabricated concrete and steel. The lot-work gives you four distinct options for your cities and focuses on the high-wealth. All grow at stage 3 (making them suited to both CAM and non-CAM cities). In order to assist growth, hold down the CTRL key while zoning. This is critical when zoning the 6x6 and 8x8 industrial lots. Included in this download are: 4x4 CS$$$ providing 184 jobs 4x4 IHT$$$ providing 447 jobs 6x6 IHT$$$ providing 988 jobs 8x8 IHT$$$ providing 1,830 jobs STATS 4x4 CS$$$: Growth Stage: 3 Bulldoze Cost: $455 Capacity Satisfied: CS$$$184 (CS$$ 449, CS$ 1,786 when dilapidated) Pollution at Centre: 12 (air) / 8 (water) / 16 (garbage) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 51 Mwh Water Consumed: 45 Gallons Construction Time: 45 days STATS 4x4 IHT$$$: Growth Stage: 3 Bulldoze Cost: $548 Capacity Satisfied: IHT 447 Pollution at Centre: 11 (air) / 4 (water) / 4 (garbage) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 81 Mwh Water Consumed: 75 Gallons Construction Time: 54 days STATS 6x6 IHT$$$: Growth Stage: 3 Bulldoze Cost: $244 Capacity Satisfied: IHT 988 Pollution at Centre: 17 (air) / 7 (water) / 5 (garbage) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 127 Mwh Water Consumed: 119 Gallons Construction Time: 24 days STATS 8x8 IHT$$$: Growth Stage: 3 Bulldoze Cost: $1,092 Capacity Satisfied: IHT 1,830 Pollution at Centre: 23 (air) / 9 (water) / 7 (garbage) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 173 Mwh Water Consumed: 162 Gallons Construction Time: 109 days DEPENDENCIES: Because of the variety and specialty of lots presented, there are a few more dependencies than what I normally use, however these are VERY COMMON (note you must be registered and logged in at the SC4 Devotion LEX to download): BSC BAT Props Mattb325 Vol03 (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2768)***** BSC BAT Props Mattb325 Vol02 (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2383) BSC Mega Props - JES Vol01 (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=342) BSC MEGA Props - SG Vol 01 (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=746) BSC Props Jeronij Vol 02 Trees (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=167) BSC TexturePack Cycledogg V 01b (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=101) BSC Essentials (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=443) ***** Absolutely essential or you will get a big brown box I hope you enjoy this file

Disease Research Center, by Mattb325. Dr Vu is back and this time he has offered your city a reward with this state of the art disease research center. A magnanimous gesture indeed, and which mayor could possibly say no to a modern eye-catching design on large, landscaped grounds? This building is modded reasonably similarly to the ingame version, but quite importantly does not emit radiation. It is offered as a reward that is available without needing to meet pre-existing criteria, and can be placed more than once in a city. It does not over-write the in game disease research center and can co-exist with the Maxis version. Like the in-game version, this building provides numerous civic jobs (R$ 210, R$$ 160, R$$$ 64), acts as an important health service building, assists in busting demand caps (by 24,000 in both R$$ and R$$$), raises the mayor rating and provides a landmark effect (even though there is a nimby protest when the building is plopped, the positive effects soon outweigh the negativity) It really is like a hospital on steroids. All of these benefits will cost the city $187 per month. The Disease Research Center lot is quite complex and is Network Enabled in 3 places. It is 8 tiles wide by 6 tiles deep. There is also a bonus IHT lot included which grows on a 6x6 lot. Use the CTRL while zoning to assist in growth. GooberGen Labs has gone Hi-Tech! With the incredible demand for the Fukitol™ products, a newer, more modern facility is needed to keep the Sims happy and content. Equipped with the latest solar technology, this plant is 80% self sufficient! It uses very little outside power or water, and creates a minimum of garbage. So sit back, relax, and pop a few capsules. The world just seems a little less stressful, when you "Fukitol". I actully made this one last June. I put it in a pending folder, and it kept slipping my mind.... I guess I was using too much of the product. Three lots are included, all on a 6x5 lot. One "normal" growable, one CAM growable and one plop.
