  1. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

I am aiming to take out the entire eastern seaboard next time. Been trying to find some time and discipline to BAT these past few months. Here's a little 2x3 office building; I'm always slightly disappointed that Maxis took a number of their 3x2 offices and just turned them 90 degrees and relotted them as 2x3 buildings. I understand their thrift in doing so, but it makes for a very repetitive looking commercial business district unless you have a lot of plugins to compete with them. So I have been thinking a lot about 2x3 buildings to dilute the pool... Needs a little oomph. I might add some decorative potted shrubs beneath the front windows. It's based off a similar-styled office building in Rochester, a pic of which I had in my swipe file. I kind of wish I had looked the building up before I got so far along modelling it, as seeing it from all four sides on Bing maps would have given me a much more interesting result. Ah well, doesn't matter really...
  2. UK Retailers Pack - DARK NITE

Fantastic. Your BATs continue to be an inspiration. Five stars!
  3. Texturing for GMAX

I've never been able to get a .jpeg to properly texture in gmax. But since I am downloading or creating stuff and editing it anyways, I can save as a .bmp before I bring it into gmax to begin with. I can't speak to the use of GIMP, but I use Photoshop - and truth be told, the version I have (CS2) is so old that I think it has been abandoned. I think you could even get it free from the Adobe site a while back. But it doesn't really matter - I only really need the basics anyway. Any program that will allow you to do basic "painting" and tweaking of colors, hue, saturation, and brightness will get you more than well on your way. Plus something like Photoshop will allow you to work in layers, which can save some time when it comes to painting in details and variations...a quick photo overlay, a reduction in saturation, and a tweak of colors, and you're at a good starting point...
  4. Teville Square

Beautiful textures. And this is one of those rare BATs that have just as much interest in the modeling of the back as there is in the front. Great details make for a believable BAT. Another great job - you're an absolute inspiration!
  5. China reference help for batters

Is that Wren in the lower left corner....?
  6. U.S.A. 2016 General Election

    This is not the case.
  7. Golden State Insurance

Absolutely delightful. Such beautiful texturing. You're a pillar of the BATting community, and this is another star in your crown. Well done!

  9. Industry 4x multiplier?

Is this different than the high tech industry fix? Or am I conflating one with another?
  10. SimCity 4 turns 13!

Last week, SC4 told me it hated me and this house and that it couldn't wait until it could leave. Then it stomped upstairs, slammed the door, and blasted its music at full volume.
  11. SimCity 4 turns 13!

Or rather, how many buggy whips has Maxis needed to produce of late?
  12. Lang-Nelson Building

Deliciously mundane. I love little generic midrises such as this; we always need more of them. Plus the parking details at the ground floor make it super special and different. And the nightlights - wowza, they are superb. Five stars!
  13. 2404 Wilshire Blvd

So glad you are still around to provide quality content for this game. You're a legend!

I'll take dramatic clouds. Besides, as the old song goes, "if you want the rainbow, you must have the rain." Crunchy peanut butter, or smooth and creamy peanut butter?
  16. Ask a forumer anything...

So far, I am not enjoying 2016. I'm two weeks behind schedule implementing stuff at the business, managing equipment malfunctions, suffering through a cold which insists on lingering, and mourning a beloved pet who we lost suddenly. So, all in all, I think 2015 should come back... What was the last movie you walked out of before it was over? Or wanted to walk out of? And why?
  17. Ask a forumer anything...

These are two very problematic regimes, and the history of animosity between them makes me think that this severing of diplomatic ties was going to happen at some point. Especially when the King of Saudi Arabia says that there are two countries that don't deserve to exist (Israel and Iran). The fact that large swaths of the population of each are from two different factions (Sunni in Saudi Arabia, Shi'ite in Iran) only makes things more difficult and doesn't bode well for future relations. Is gluten-free going to be labelled a fad, or is it here to stay?
  18. Griffith Observatory

This makes me want to watch "Rebel Without a Cause" again. Beautiful!
  19. BATs by Bipin

The strip malls will be great. Very much needed. I often find that with little dumpy one-story buildings, I have to cheat them a little taller than normal so that they don't look too squashed. I always find I have to do something similar in multi-story buildings, with the ground floor being a little taller than normal. Especially since sims are 4 meters tall. If you stretched the height of the strip malls just a teensy bit, I wouldn't mind... But otherwise, they look great - fantastic texturing, too.
  20. The Cathedral of Learning

Fantastic - exquisite details and textures. But I'm partial to Pittsburgh, myself, having done four years of university just up the street from this very monument. A great achievement in BATting, this is!
  21. What comes to mind when you think about this city?

    The Andes. Pittsburgh, PA, USA

    29. You're not yet in your thirties, you still have sex appeal to the vast majority of demographics out there, but you aren't young enough to be considered still "wet behind the ears." Plus odd numbers are cool somehow. Best holiday to celebrate as an adult, that you didn't even care about as a child?
  23. The Preference Game

I'm based in Los Angeles, so driving. Now, for Thanksgiving - with the turkey, do you prefer white wine or red wine?
