Thank you Antsel!!! I asked for something like this years ago. One other colour i would suggest is black for the Pro tee's.

As to the rotation problem, i'm sure i've got other mmps that rotate like you describe, but can't think which ones. Your best bet may be to message someone like Girafe or maybe Chrisadams3997 over at SC4D.

Talking about colours, in the desertic northern Chile there is a golf field without any grass, only dirt, sand, rocks and used motor oil. Google points that similar ones exist in Southern Australia, Afghanistan and Liberia. If you want to work a lot recolouring your MMPs to be used in drier terrains, here are some photos:

I loved the concept and the choosing of the model, there's definitely a need for STR stations, and particularly big ones. Although, I have some doubts and suggestions:

  • I'm not very convinced about the front road, but it could be just different tastes. Maybe a small bus terminal (with paralel bus parking and a roofed waiting area) at a side could do better than a linear bus stop, considering the station would be surely the focal point of a medium sized town's transit system, so buses (and even taxis) would be waiting for passengers to come instead of passing by the station. The concept that comes to my mind is the typical latin american 'terminal rodoviario'
  • About the nightlighting, I dig the four-side lamp posts, but sadly they tend to produce horrible light floods when using modded light cones, like the ones that come with the USL or Mandelsoft's LRM. Maybe doing a custom-cone compatible version with more spread lamp posts would ease that.
  • A less relevant thing: I miss some semaphorization for the incoming trains, that have to know to which track they are going

Is that a Maxis bridge, though?

Well -- now that you mention it -- I suppose that might be open to question.

It's not a custom-crafted bridge -- but it is one of those that were added with the partial Nam32 installation.  If you simply drag & drop the bridge, it requires water beneath it and shows the currents around the support column.  I figured that qualified as a Maxis bridge.

That does sound more like it.  I don't use most of the RHW or RRW Mods.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Thank you all!

@matias93 That is supposed to be a drop & ride area. I did not want to make a much bigger lot than what it is.

You can always drop a bus parking area across the street. Incidentally I'm working on a large bus related lot, soon to be revealed!

Those are maxis light poles. I picked those because I did not want the dependencies to be too heavy. There are already enough of them on the list and had to trim a few.

However I did change several items including a new texture for the rail section and created a new semaphore prop for the signals.

I will be releasing it in a day or 2.

Here are the final pics.

I was gonna comment on the first post already but I kinda forgot somehow; I really like the drop & ride area, I see these everywhere around where I live.

I guess there's demand for STR stations and it's nice to see a nice one although I'm a little on the fence on whether or not the station seems a little too big for a single track situation since those usually only occur on minor tracks... then again, I'll probably use it either way so I guess you made a wise choice. Don't think there's much need to comment on how outstanding the lotting is.

Yeah, I guess "Maxis bridge" is not really a very precise term with a generally agreed definition, is it? For me it is a bridge that comes with the unmodded game, not with any download. It's been a while since I last played a game, but AFAIR this is indeed a bridge that's part of the NAM. It is a Maxis bridge, however, in the sense that it works like the game's default bridges and not like puzzle pieces or MMP bridges. So we can both stick to our respective definition and claim we're right. Case solved. :D

But seriously, I just had to ask because it's been a while since I built a rail bridge and I wasn't altogether sure if I had missed/forgotten something. Guess that's cleared up now. What I failed to mention is that I really like your MMP work on that ravine, and I think you showed in a very convincing manner how even a very small bridge can be an eyecatcher! :)

@Lost Realist

Actually that is a triple track stations. What everyone seems to forget is that it doesn't matter how many tracks are used in the actual station, they all end up tying with a DTR or even just an STR network. In some cases they attach to a TTR or Quad network but not always.

Thank you for appreciating the lotting and the custom texture.

No no I get that, my point was that I'd like to see it connect to DTR because most main rail lines consist of two tracks and the station by its size just seems more suitable to sit on a main line. But I'll actually further discard my initial opinion anyway because the more I think of it the more I appreciate the extra diversity added by using STR.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Well, so it happens that I did have a true DTR version on the works and here it is....

Oh man the creative juices are really flowing this week. Here's something I made in just the last couple of hours. It's a project I've been planning to make ever since I saw the real life version while on a trip to a particular city last year.

It's a new type of hydro pylon of a very unique design;

But the most unique thing about it is yet to be shown... and will remain a secret until the next CJ entry. ;)
More pics and future updates in the BAT thread.

Did something evil ... I suppose. I hijacked a building from APTX, the MitshubishiBank, an quite now I'm turning it into ...

... The Museum Of Ancient Sims.

I like the idea! :golly: Well, I like most re-lots because I feel that this tremendous wealth of BATs we have is hardly even utilised. While some buildings are, indeed, only suitable for one purpose, others can be re-interpreted in many ways, or combined with other models to create something new. For some, even a purely visual makeover of the lot can go a long way.

The Mitsubishi Bank building does have a Museum vibe, so I think it looks very convincing in its new function.

A few suggestions as food for thought:

  • Even for an urban museum, I think the lot is ever so slightly cramped/crowded. As little as one additional tile in width and depth may help to alleviate this impression.
  • I like how you have the public area in front and the actual museum area out back, but you probably wouldn't separate both with a knee-high hedge IRL. I think a wrought-iron fence or something similar would be in order.
  • The blank wall in the courtyard looks a bit depressing and utilitarian. You may try putting up some banners there. I think the vanilla Maxis props contain a set of large, colourful banners that may work there.
  • Having at least some kind of footpath leading through parts of the garden in the back may be nice if it can be done without too much hassle.

All in all, it's a superb lot, and I already like it very much. Keep it up! :ohyes:

Thank you so much for your feedback - a higher fence/hedge would cover the sculptures on the sides – so you're right, to extend the lot would be a good idear. But now I got tired spending the whole evening with the lot and I'm to lazy to rethink and redo the layout of the lot. Another day perhaps. On the back yard and the depressing () wall I ended up with two versions.

Maybe you could have another look on it? Thanks.

Another option is to use BSC or Paeng Parks' textures to allow for an easier integration of the museum into a wider park or user-made lot.

Time to unveil SM2 Rail Service Yard 2.

Its a tad older than Yard 1, there is even an old abandoned steam locomotive sitting in a corner just rusting away. Also you can see the rail tracks are really old as well.
Train cars will come and go throughout the day as will workers. The base of this lot was repaved a few years ago with 3/4 inch crushed limestone when the economy had an uptick due to a local factory re-opening for business.

Both passenger and freight trains will pass through the lot and like Yard 1, it is not a freight yard but a holding place for trains and it acts as a small repair facility for minor issues.

Yo --  Simmer2 !

Pardon me for being a bit dense --

Is this railyard compatible with the Maxis double track ??  I have the feeling you need a Nam32 puzzle piece to convert -- right?
