The next iteration of the old SC4D Prop + Texture Catalog is currently underway.

This time it's HTML based to allow for dynamic filtering so creators can quickly and more easily find exactly the kind of prop(s) desired. Currently the first level of filters are in progress, with much more granular filtering planned.

After downloading a lot of great mods, the old Simcago burnt down (a pun referring to the 1871 Chicago fire). Bummer. Really, I decided it would be easier to start a new region, again. It also gave me time to adjust to NAM. I'm starting with a metropolis or anchor city to support a lot of cities around it. Very heavy in commerce and Sims, surrounding a spring feed lake with a river running out of it.

Location: Simcago, Simmerica (Fictional) Here is a few pics of the unfinished city. I hope I you "guys" like it. Any and all comments are welcome.

 Just started adding some of the erosion blocks, MMP's are so cool.

Nothing special here. Well,  the sweet PEG docks I picked up a couple of weeks ago are amazing. And next is a over all shoot of the lake. Its all coming along "to me". 

My "Center Court", not thrilled with the name, just the layout. That's all for now, thank you

Aside from James Bond he was also awesome in Indiana Jones The Last Crusade, Hunt for Red October and of course The Untouchables.

It only took two and half years but at last Cindersville is at last completed! The last area to finish was the empty city centre area bordering the highway.

 

Thanks a lot for all the comments and support over the years.

Enjoy the pictures here.

First half are the numerous locations of Cindersville and this place is VERY varied. The second half is the entry proper with the tour of the city centre's northern half.

And at last, at the end of all things, this project is now complete.

It can't be done! Not with a standard topographical map image. I downloaded this image, as an example-

and tried to even out all the tones to equalize the image and raise the terrain to rid it of water-

Unfortunately, the very thing that fools the eye into thinking you're seeing a 3d image, is the thing that destroys the image in SC4Mapper- the shadows. SC4M adds it's own shadows, on top of the image, which ultimately gives you a region that looks like boiling oatmeal, no matter how many times you hit the equalizer button. I tried isolating the shadows and lightening them, but you can never really get them all. The only real way to get the crater effect is by flat layering like this-

Only 700 more craters to go, if you catch my drift. The only easy way to replicate a pock-marked surface like the moon is in Terraformer. That's the way I did mine-

Mmm, something tells me that's a 3D model from @Barroco Hispano, as opposed to a static image he's trying to use as the basis for a map. Presumably he can use the 3D model to generate an SC4M compatible map?

@BartonThinks You are correct, it is a 3d model generated by a height map. 

@SIM-ple Jack To be honest I have no idea how sc4 terraformer works. This is what the heightmap looks like (I converted it from an .exr file (256MB) to .png (3.89MB) so a lot of detail is lost.
