Incomplete industrial development despite demand.
Diogen posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi all, Can somebody please explain why this industrial city doesn't fully develop into high-density lots despite there being enough demand? I have dozed and rezoned the entire city multiple times and everytime development seems so stagnate without fully developing the blocks in the centre, which remain medium-density. I have waited several in-game decades and exited and reloaded the city multiple times but development seems to have just stopped. Any help would be much appreciated. EDIT: I already found an explanation in the Prima guide. Apparently the amount of higher-stage buildings is limited by stage limits. -
Hi! I'm having trouble getting the rural regions around my city to grow. I'd apprciate any advice, tips or cool mod suggestions. Thanks! x P.S. I'm going for a North European/Scandi/British vibe so if you know of any good BATs or props I'd appreciate it.

Kind of like "Can't Find It" or "Ask a Quick Question" but more opinion based. Ask or leave advice about lots, mods, terrain, maps, basically anything to do with SimCity4. If you try something that you really like recently, recommend it here. I've been trying to figure out for a long time what's been causing these "sparkles" on my maps. I think I've narrowed it down to a cheat power plant. Although the stats read 0 on radiation, it still looks like its radiation. The lot is 1x1. Could anyone recommend a small, powerful power plant that is safe from this situation?

Hey guys, not sure if this is allowed but I was wondering if you could give me some advice on getting a new laptop. Needless to say, playing SC4 will be one of its main uses so I'd like to make sure I choose a suitable one. I currently have on an old Packard Bell Kav60 with processor N270 1.60GHz and 1GB RAM. I was recently offered a guaranteed pre-owned Lenovo X201, which has dual-core i5 2.66GHz and 2GB RAM. Any issues with it? Aside from game performance, I would want a laptop which is: - Light-weight and compact - Quiet - Durable - Affordable (i.e. dirt cheap) What should I look for, or avoid? Any input will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Need some help making this High speed Train Mesh
Razake posted a topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Hello Everyone, I'm currently working on this custom train model for C:S. I am about 70% done with the train itself, but i would like to make a custom cart that is entirely unique to the others, a restaurant/bar cart that has a different shape. But i can't seem to figure out what steps i need to take to add this model in. I'm guessing it has something to do with the sub meshes? Also, are there any specific steps i need to do in blender? As you can see in the last picture attached, the train is fully working but i would like to add this custom cart in. Any Help would be appreciated!- 4 Replies

Hey everyone! It's so great to be here in this SimCity community! I am new to SimCity - I played the original eons ago, so honestly, it's like starting fresh and new to the game! I would love to dive right in and share on the fun, but I wanted to make a quick post here, saying "Hey!" to everyone, and to ask if you guys have any advice for a newbie...? I am playing SimCity 4 Deluxe - looks like an amazing game! Also, I heard that SimCity 4 allows players to make their own icons, buildings, etc. Which I think is cool, can anyone shed some light on how that works? Any help is appreciated! Thanks so much!

Sandbox Mode - Cheats Don't Stay Active, Following Advice Doesn't Work
Angry Mayor posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
I'm going to start this by saying that I am probably the wrong personality type to play this game. Like as not, I'm expecting too much; I sincerely doubt it. Here's the situation -- I am running a game with the "Serenity Key" terrain. I am in Sandbox mode. The only mods I have in play are for extra MegaTowers. When I play, I use the cheats to turn off (in this order): -Sewer -Fire -Medical -Garbage -ControlNet Req's -Crime I haven't had to use the rest, as yet. Given the fact that none of the bloody cheats STAY ON, I really don't want to. Seriously; less than two minutes after I use the cheats, the issues act like they have not been turned off/were re-enabled. DAFUQ?!?!?! Also, I try to solve the problems of the sims, by following the advice, only to have that be completely worthless. Now, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't understand how the game can give you advice to build more high-wealth levels for a MegaTower, only to disregard the fact that you build a MT that is ALL high wealth. So, could someone PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS JODIDO MIERDA TO ME?!?!?! 'Cause, I'll be honest; right now, I wanna find the devs for this game, and pull a killer gorilla... -
Why doesn't my city have any street lights and signal light? Can someone give some advice on this

Advice | How to build a Chinese city I've been playing SC4 for a very very like time, I got it for my 13th birthday, and I'm now 26! 99% of what I may is a hybrid between US And British styles, but I've never tried anything different. I've been looking at a lot of big Chinese cities and want to have a go. I know my custom content will all need changing, but other than just changing the building style, what else can be done? Are there any CJs which follow a chinese style city? I want to make a modern style city etc.

Okay, so my city has kind of hit a snag. The city has 60,000 people and a positive economy with about $3k of leeway a month. Demand for high-tech industry is positive. However, I have two problems: 1. I'm completely out of room (a shallow channel bisects the city) and surrounded by other cities that I built. 2. Dirty industry, which has been rezoned to high-density, will not shift to high-tech, even with great education and high-tech industry taxes set to 1.0%. What can I do to get high-tech industry to move in? Also, how can I quickly get rid of the air pollution that has built up? I have about $2.5M to fill in the water if it has to come to that. Any advice is appreciated!

Hey guys...I've been meaning to build a new PC (probably going with AMD), trying to shoot for under $1000, and at the minimum play games better than my old MacBook 2010 running Windows XP. Of course, building to play legacy games isn't a winner in the long run, so I'm asking what I should shoot for in terms of graphics cards and whatnot to not only hit no more than $1000 but also play C:S without much sweat, and without cutting out all but the essential details. I'm hoping it would give me a good benchmark to shoot for, because playing C:S well is one of the things I really wanted to do with it...

WIP Advanced Prosperity Generator - Modding Help
ROBOTECH2140 posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
Hi All, I am trying combine several services and utilities into one Elite Mega Tower level - called the Advanced Prosperity Generator (see attached). I began with the Fusion Reactor level and changed the 3D model to the Waste Reduction Level (for all zoom levels), just because I think it is the best looking service level. And I think I've successful manage to copy the correct properties from the Park Level into the mod so that happiness is increased. However, I have been struggling to identify the correct property lines to copy across for: - Waste Reduction Level (Sewage & Garbage Consumption) - Education Level - Safety Level - Water pumping station - The Academy (in particular, the property line that causes a forest to grow in the immediate area) The aim is to avoid these ugly buildings/levels but still have the services that sims need to build high wealth / density buildings. I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing and have just been experimenting with trial and error, so any help or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ROBOTECH2140 Advanced Prosperity Generator 10.zip -
Advice on Launching my CJ (many questions)
DonVitoCorleone posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hello Simmers: After reading the many great tutorials, posts, comments and downloading a goodly amount of maps, mods, bats, and lots- I am near ready to launch my CJ. I also have come up with the overall layout in paint for my region and have even finished (for now) tr full nam rhw and rail for th first city. That bing said: 1. While everyone had their favorite method, assuming you use damn: how do you organize all your buildings? I was going to use "theme" for commercial skyskrapers as anexample (ie: paris, hk, nybt) 2. I read about effects of plopping (zots but I do tastyzots) and no cars on the road. About what percent plop do you do? I was even plopping res simply to have pretty neighborhoods. 3. Plugin folder: mine is a mess. Adding stuff to damn can take a long time to find. Debating moving each folder with the mod/bat into one with the authors name as I am going to continuously download more everyday. Any other advice? Thank you guys. Love the community here! population Hi! Any tips to get a population of 400,000+ in a city? Thanx!
TeddyAbbie posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hello People! I've downloaded some mods such as NAM, pollution plant reducer (can't remember the name) and traffic pollution reducer etc. Which makes my city look nice.. But I was wondering how to keep your city successful? So no people move out & get bored.. In the small cities I also make a industry-only city too. For instance, just say if I have 50,000 Sims living in my city.. how many schools do I need? How many hospitals do I need? Thanks very much guys :-) Have a good day. -
OK, here's the thing: My only computer has finally died on me and I need a new computer. I have on hand the case, power supply, and operating system (Windows 7 Home Premium) that was supposed to be for my new computer build. I also have on hand the parts from my old computer, but they're 10 years outdated; They consist of the motherboard, processor, a 40GB hard drive, and only a 128MB stick of RAM. I also have on hand several half-dead hard drives, but they only have a SATA connector, not an IDE connector. My computer build has been delayed for eight months, and my folks have borrowed so much money, I'm down to only $300. I expect from them the $1000+ they have taken from me, but that would take five weeks. I have a final project to do, but the only operable computer is my brother's computer, and it's already being used by everyone else on the family because every other computer has also broken down. I foresee several options: - I resuscitate my old XP computer and buy an extra stick of RAM for it. - I go ahead and get a cheap processor, motherboard, and RAM for my new computer build and instead use a USB drive as my boot drive (I'd be using something like Linux) and the 40GB drive from my old computer as my hard drive. - I put up with using my brother's computer for the next five weeks and suffer for every day. - I get a netbook and complain about the lag. I'm hoping that someone would have advice on which method to go with. I've been meaning to get my compute build up and running because every computer I have ever had has never been powerful for my needs. I had decided on building my own computer because no computer they ever sold in the store would ever be powerful enough for what I'm doing: Gaming, plugin testing, social networking, entertainment, and programming. It's probably unexpected but I'm desperate for advice.

I'm planning on making a to-scale, as-exact-as-possible replica of the city I currently live in.(Orlando, Florida.) I'm sort of taking an inventory of what I need at the moment. RHW, I think some rail expansion collections, a lot of BATs that fit the feel of suburbs and such. A few things are bugging me, however. What would you say is the best way to recreate a gated community in SC4? I can get some bats for the right condominium feel, but are there good gates and such to base it on? Another thing; what kind of scale should I be taking the maps at? I can pull maps from google earth data(which is a pain in the ass due to the sea level disparities, but I can manage,) but I'm not sure from what level I should take the shots to get sim city to scale streets the right width. What is the best way to make large streets? Not a lot of things qualify as "avenues" in Orlando, since there aren't many widely-divided streets, but there are a lot of roadways with 6 lanes which aren't really highways, either. Lots of transitions from 6 to 4 to 3 to 2 lanes, as well, and I'm a bit worried about that. Any tips on getting extra-wide streets? Favorite puzzle piece sets? Road curving; I'll need to use modding for that, right? A lot of roads here are built to curve around lakes. That's not very well supported by SC4's mechanics. Any favorites or suggestions for curves? If something else comes up, I'll post more about the challenges and progress I make. I realize it's probably going to take a long time, but it seems like a fun challenge.
