Time for another map! This time it's Orlando, Florida, USA. Now you too can build Walt Disney World in SimCity 4! The map is 20 x 20 large city tiles and is accurately scaled based on DEM data. It includes the cities of Orlando, Winter Garden, Sanford, Kissimmee, Lake Apopka and all of the Walt Disney World Resort area. In order to install the map you will need wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer as the file is in SC4M format. I hope you can put this map to good use, enjoy! -TCC View My Full Map Catalogue Here:- 1 Comment

Hello, Interesting news from my corner of the world: The public transportation network in Greater Orlando is managed by GoLynx, which operates all bus lines and the SunRail. The SunRail is the only commuter train serving Orlando and its metropolitan area. It's a north-south axis with 17 stations, and has just opened its latest extension near my home, between DeBary and DeLand. Another exciting project is the Sunshine Corridor, which would connect Orlando's main airport (MCO) to Disney World, while linking to the SunRail: This would be a significant step forward in intermodal transportation for the metropolitan area, focusing on the four cardinal directions. Additionally, this airport is home to Orlando's high-speed rail station, part of America's first high-speed rail line connecting Miami to Orlando, and soon Orlando to Tampa. The passenger volume between this high-speed rail station, MCO airport, Disney World, and the rest of the metropolitan area via SunRail should be substantial, motivating even more projects and expansions.

AMWAY CENTER The Amway Center is a major sports arena and entertainment venue in Orlando, Florida, located in the Downtown area of the city. It is part of Downtown Orlando Master Plan 3: a plan that also involves improvements to Camping World Stadium and the completion of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.[4] The arena is home to the Orlando Magic of the NBA, the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL,[5] the Orlando Predators of the National Arena League, and hosted the 2012 NBA All-Star Game and the 2015 ECHL All-Star Game. (Wikipedia) DOWNTOWN Downtown Orlando is the historic core and central business district of Orlando, Florida, United States. It is bordered by Marks Street in the north, Mills Avenue (SR 15) in the east, Orange Blossom Trail (US 441) in the west, and Kaley Avenue in the south.[citation needed] There are several distinct neighborhoods in downtown; "North Quarter" to the north, "Lake Eola Heights Historic District" just north of Lake Eola, "South Eola" contains Lake Eola Park and continues to the east and south of Lake Eola, "Thornton Park" in the east, "Parramore" in the west, "Lake Cherokee Historic District" to the south, and the "Central Business District" (or the "Financial District") between Colonial Drive and Lake Lucerne in the center. In 2010, the estimated population of downtown was 18,731.[2] The daytime population was estimated to be 65,000 (in 2010). The 5-mile radius population of downtown is 273,335. (Wikipedia) LAKE EOLA PARK Lake Eola Park is a public park located in Downtown Orlando, Florida. Lake Eola is the main feature of the park. Also located in the park (on the west side) is the Walt Disney Amphitheater, which hosts many community events and various performances year round. On the east side of the park is a Chinese pagoda, and a playground. The park is surrounded by four streets: East Robinson Street (State Road 526), Rosalind Avenue (SR 527), East Central Boulevard, and North Eola Drive. (Wikipedia)

I'm planning on making a to-scale, as-exact-as-possible replica of the city I currently live in.(Orlando, Florida.) I'm sort of taking an inventory of what I need at the moment. RHW, I think some rail expansion collections, a lot of BATs that fit the feel of suburbs and such. A few things are bugging me, however. What would you say is the best way to recreate a gated community in SC4? I can get some bats for the right condominium feel, but are there good gates and such to base it on? Another thing; what kind of scale should I be taking the maps at? I can pull maps from google earth data(which is a pain in the ass due to the sea level disparities, but I can manage,) but I'm not sure from what level I should take the shots to get sim city to scale streets the right width. What is the best way to make large streets? Not a lot of things qualify as "avenues" in Orlando, since there aren't many widely-divided streets, but there are a lot of roadways with 6 lanes which aren't really highways, either. Lots of transitions from 6 to 4 to 3 to 2 lanes, as well, and I'm a bit worried about that. Any tips on getting extra-wide streets? Favorite puzzle piece sets? Road curving; I'll need to use modding for that, right? A lot of roads here are built to curve around lakes. That's not very well supported by SC4's mechanics. Any favorites or suggestions for curves? If something else comes up, I'll post more about the challenges and progress I make. I realize it's probably going to take a long time, but it seems like a fun challenge.
