Entry no.31 - Orchard Heights
Swordmaster commented on TakemeThere's City Journal Entry in Pretoria Metropolitan Area
Great work here. Love the journey through time, shows how much the NAM has changed over the years. Cheers Willy -
I think two major points have ensured SC4's continuing appeal. 1/ our ability to control the game's content, and 2/ the visual quality of said content. Matching either of these would be a great achievement for any potential successor. Matching both, I feel, won't happen again any time soon, if ever. For this, SC4 will be an interesting object of research for future video game historians. The content creating community it spawned is unique and I'm proud to be a part of it. Cheers Willy

What's a stem engine? Nice work, though Cheers Willy

Entry no.30 - Looper Junction, vers. 2.0
Swordmaster commented on TakemeThere's City Journal Entry in Pretoria Metropolitan Area
Interesting! Wouldn't it be worthwile to get the piece into the NAM so others can use it as well? (A version without the overhanging barriers then.) Nice rebuilding, btw. Cheers Willy- 15 Comments

Apart from a few specific setups, the FLEX pieces can do everything and more than the static ones, so use these instead. They're pretty simple to use once you get the hang of it. They're at the back of the tab ring of the Draggable Elevated Road Viaducts button. Once placed, you have to drag road up to the on-slope piece, but not through it. Think of it like dragging two dead end roads with the on-slope tile in between. Cheers Willy

Are these the static pieces? The flex pieces for the draggable network should be fine. Cheers Willy

Entry no.29 - Infrastructure in Dresden

Love it! Cool rail network. Some of the missing pieces, like the ortho under diagonal highway are already fixed on my end. I hope to get more lot textures done soon. Cheers Willy- 22 Comments

That's a matter of adding the relevant overrides, which (like most other "fixes") can't be released in a patch since they need a new controller. The next NAM probably won't have RHW additions, but I'll see if I can fix a few errors. Cheers Willy

Fantastic!! Makes me wonder though if there shouldn't be a fix for that SAM transition road stub. Cheers Willy

rivit's Street and Rail Mods - Support Thread
Swordmaster replied to rivit's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
That's right I'll try to get the whole caboodle back into the root NAM directory for the next release, though that'd require some internal discussion I figure. On another topic, I've been trying out the additional viaduct styles in the RUM, and love them! However, two textures seem to be missing for the diagonal override bridges (you're probably aware of this Ron): I thought for your convenience that I'd provide you the IIDs. The first is completely darkened, the other has a narrow dark strip at the bottom: 0x532694fe 0x532694ee Cheers Willy -
Nice work! I'm planning a railyard set within the foreseeable future, though seeing your and Simmer2's lots, I'm becoming ever more convinced to have three tracks per tile as the standard. Cheers Willy

Twin Rivers Region - a work in progress
Swordmaster replied to dedgren's topic in Cities: Skylines City Journals
Hi David Looks to me like you've got a decent 3RRian vibe going here. C:S couldn't get a bigger blessing. I myself have dabbled for about a month with the game, but while I enjoyed some aspects of it, I have numerous complaints at this moment, some of which I feel are beyond fixing by mods. Not least I'm still too impressed by the pace of content creation for SC4, which leads me to another thing. I'm in some ways surprised to see you've turned away from the old game in a time when its railways are in better shape than ever (not to brag--this is largely due to the efforts of people other than me). Frankly, most everything is in better shape. This is of course not to get on your back--just a genuine point of wonder. I'll always be grateful for the support you gave me when I first kicked off the RealRailway project, so I feel thoroughly obliged to wish you not only luck, but that this game serves your imagination as well as our beloved old game! Cheers Willy- 371 Replies

I'm fairly confident this game hasn't even reached half of its lifetime. There is still amazingly little competition, despite the newest kid on the block getting a lot of attention for now. Cheers Willy

The options to check are the Wide Radius Curves and Fractionally Angled Railroads, which are not under the "Rail" tickbox but on their own in the menu (as they were before). As mentioned, rivit's or anyone else's mod conflicts with this, since both override the same textures. Note that during NAM installation, if you select RRW you cannot select either dedgren's or SFBT's alternative textures for the same reason. Cheers Willy
