Nice scenic picture of the county good job, but my only complaint for me personally seems a little odd that the bridge doesn't line up on both sides.

It's something I been toying around with for a long, long time and at last started it.

Just a fun little thing I whipped up in 30mins. Also, some pictures of me going hardcore U-Drive it and managing to 4x4 up the the top of the tallest peak... Which took longer than it did for me to build the CBD :P

Earlier I showed this project I was working on:

aypf.png

I thought it was kind of annoying that the EL was really cutting through the development, thus I decided to change the EL as well. Eventually I ended with this:

j070.png

There are still things to do better, like the change between highrise and lowrise (that should be much smoother) but I've zoned everything around this as high density zones, thus I hope it would be just a matter of time. Otherwise I'll have to plop some other buildings as well.

Your second picture looks really much better. The GLR pays much more respect to the surrounding. I also prefer GLR to elevate light rail because, unless well integrated into a city-building concept, the latter literally cuts a city in several "cake pieces". BTW, I think the difference between highrise and lowrise (or medium-rise) doesn't bother me, at least not on your screenshots. Especially in older cities you can't make 100% sure that there are areas restricted to only highrise/lowrise and there's a smooth transition between the buildings' heights.

Yeah, I really like GLR, I just don't use it that much (I don't know why). Normally I lay down EL at the beginning of my subway system, just because it is much cheaper than the subway. If these lines get congested I just keep it because there is apparently much use for it. If the neighborhoods around it are laid down properly it can be well integrated indeed. However, I think I'm going to review my EL in the whole city to see what I can do better. I think it will be nice to use GLR but also the EL above road pieces. I'm really curious about those stations that are included in the NAM. I've been thinking about using them for a while.

Here's part of my city of Jamaica, Yakutat Bay. It's rapidly taking shape as the new metropolitan center of the still rural region. Since I took this shot, both of the farm fields in the upper-left part of the picture have been redeveloped as part of a new residential subdivision and downtown has undergone a number of restreetscaping projects.

Simple reskin; it's the RMS Olympic as she appeared in 1915.

qLIL3Ie.jpg

If you're wondering "Olympic? 1915?" that's because the Olympic was the sister ship to Titanic that was launched before Titanic, survived WWI and had a distinguished career which all ended in 1935 when she was scrapped.

might want to disable traffic for that shot bud. It looks weird with the garbag truck there. Otherwise, neat effect. I would advise making headlights facing towards the camera much brighter though.

edit// Also, a lot of people would turn left onto that avenue from the turn lane.

Nah, best not to, then it looks more busy, to say that there are a couple of slow or idle vehicles, and if you added some sort of motion blur on the truck, it'd make it equally more compelling to show its moving as well, unless its intended to be idle or something :P. The garbage trucks more on the side of the road anyways, so it makes sense. Really great image though! Would love to know how you managed that light effect. I tried it a while back when I was terrible at use PS, and it turned out horrible. Could I ask how you did that?

why not make it even more crazier by putting an ATEX tube that goes like a bridge between the...river? They are not functional but aesthetically pleasing and each huge piece takes up only one tile. Just try it! :ohyes:  (you can get ATEX tube at sim-board)

It's kinda basic, and labor intensive. Basically I followed a tutorial on using paths to create light streaks (draw path, edit brush settings, go to paths menu, save path via rename, and then stroke path; edit layer settings for outer glow and inner glow to get it like you want (incl. color) and then modify the path, restroke, rinse, repeat. All of those paths were made manually.)

I used this website and this one to help me get started. The rest is minor experimentation.

I was hoping for a less labor intensive process, esp considering the simple nature of what I'm doing. It's also not easily modifiable. I could try Illustrator next time (and was planning to), but I realized I knew even less about that program than Photoshop, so for now this'll have to do.

    EDIT: almost done. Any suggestions?

I still need to adjust some things and I'm a bit frustrated about the lack of british styled diagonals...

Currently working on a quiet decent neighborhood far away from town. Good connection with the city center within twenty minutes by the RRN (Regional Rain Network, something like the RER around Paris). The neighborhood is at the edge of the densed areas. From this neighborhood it takes you about ten minutes by car to the riveredge on the east side, where there's actually a lot of financial and cultural activity. This riveredge can be seen as a second financial center (a bit like Canada Wharf in London, not in the center, but still a financial center).

And yes... Palms will be removed.
