Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
Joe 90 replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Thanks guys. I had a thought the DBE might be able to be used this way, but I'd have never figured that method out!- 3,919 Replies

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
Joe 90 replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Hi folks, Is there any way to get a diagonal RHW-4 viaduct to ground, either by ramp or on-slope pieces? I've got myself hemmed in between mountains, tunnel portals and bridges and need to do this diagonally if possible. Orthogonal would be easy, but it isn't an option in this location unfortunately.- 3,919 Replies

Is it possible to change the size of a region or Map?
Joe 90 replied to fredinno's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Region: yes City tiles: no To change the size of a region, simply edit the config.bmp file in your region's folder. Much more info in the Omnibus. Doing this to a built-up region can have disastrous consequences for the cities in it, so its best to make a new empty region the size you want and import the cities. -

Careful Yoshi - you'll probably end up spending more time on the map than the city!

Highways of Arthuria, an update on a map I did ages ago. Careful with the click, its huge...

Go big. Trying to clear big ships is no small matter. I have 45m clearance here, and I'm still not sure all the ploppable container ships actually fit under it I've recently been building up Newstead, which is in the north-west of the Mearcgræf metropolitan area. This is the Nondescripts Sports Club grounds, with Nondescripts in action against Rushmede on the No.1 pitch. Nondescripts were a founding member of the Arthurian Football League in 1864 and won the King's Cup knockout tournament four times, although this match takes place way down in the ninth tier of the AFG league system.

Gotta love those flex-fly's Highway 1 to the top, Highway 2 to the right and bottom, local roads to the left.

No, thats deliberate Looks good. I like how you've shown that the Mereburg line shares tracks between St Seaxweard's Minster and University Stations (at least that's what I'm guessing it's showing!) How would you show interchanges if there were any at any of the stations where the line branches though? Bingo for the Mereburg Line. Always good when people understand maps without being told As for interchanges on branches, something like this I suppose...

Tried a subway line in the style I've been doing tram lines:

Building Concepts for Hillside Development (Show me your Height Transitions)
Joe 90 replied to Plastic Manc's topic in SC4 Showcase
I use 7.5m increments when terracing my hills (15m is way too steep for me) so the levels are still a 'natural' height for overpasses. The levels are usually in 3-tile-wide terraces with 1x1 development along both sides of a road or street. I usually avoid zoning 2 tiles deep since I don't really want condos and highrises being built halfway up a hill. The slopes are left covered in trees for aesthetic value. The main pain with doing it like this is you have to terraform every tile individually, either by ground lifter or street tile leveller. -
Not sure what program you're using to draw your maps, but if it has a grid straight lines shouldn't really be an issue. In Inkscape, I pretty much rely on the snap-to-grid to keep everything aligned properly and spaced evenly without having to be too precise myself.

Still naming stuff... Major rivers done; islands, waterways and mountains to go

I can sympathise - I've It did take 17 months to complete though If you're into minute detail like me, it might actually turn out better if you stop building new things until the map catches up! Good luck with it
