Awesome work by all on this page :thumb: It's great to see more people making use of the latest NAM. It's what has gotten me playing the game again after taking about a month off from actual city building.

It's time for a little challenge, fellas.

Is it possible to build this on Simcity? And if yes, how efficient it is?

Well, you could certainly imitate the overall layout, albeit not on such small space - which is not necessarily bad because if anything, that example looks seriously underscaled and horribly unsafe. Lanes merging so suddenly without any space for weaving, concrete walls obstructing the drivers' views - I'm not a road geek or traffic expert, but this would probaly be a nightmare IRL.

Wow, that's very impressive, and way over my skills! Talking about those, does anyone know how to do this:

Lago%20Seco-10%20Jul.%20001465786572_zps

(a highway-avenue overpass interchange with a central crossing, using RHW-4 as highway)

... avoiding the five-tile width weaving, or at least, keeping the central lanes straight?

Alternatively, I could do that with a RHW-6C ramp, but there is a RHW-4 to RHW-6C ramp available? The only way I've found to do that is using a RHW-6S segment in the middle, and a strange looking RHW-6S to RHW-6C ramp that shuffles to a side.

In resume, would you mind to help a poor nitpicker to archieve unneccesary highway symmetry in the game?

How about this?

RHW-Inside-Exit_zps6utuyq9m.jpg

There are special ramps (you'll need the depreciated ones installed) that split a RHW6C with D1 Inside Ramps which I've used here. Each lane must transition using a L1 OnSlope (Flex Height Menu), and the middle RHW-2 needs a 1-Level Ramp Transition piece to connect with the avenue.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

As a rule-of-thumbs, entrances and exits are usually not done in the innermost lanes. This is because those lanes are usually dedicated to higher speeds which means more accelerating/decelerating distances then the outermost lanes. It would also create confusion and be potentially hazardous as drivers wouldn't know which would be the higher and lower speed lanes.
I could only see this solution implemented in places with high traffic density , speed restrictions (no higher then 80km/h), in a high real-estate area and if the entrances/exits are always on the same side (in this case, the inner lanes).

However, these types of interchanges are particularly useful in compact areas, and in regards to the issue with the outside lanes exiting, rather than the normal with the inside lanes leaving, well-sign posted exits solves that issue. ;)

And that's precisely the situation of my interchange: it is between two curves, one of them of 90 degrees, so the speed is already reduced, maybe to 70 km/h. And to both sides there are very dense urbanizations planned, most of them not feeding cars to that intersection but crossing it, so there shouldn't be much traffic to clog that.

More to the point, that's a dedicated piece made for this purpose and no other. I guess such things must exist in the real world, although I agree it's not the best motorway design.

Or another use for this kind of set-up would be if the inner-most lane was only for buses. Then this interchange would serve only buses, while car-oriented or mixed exits would be on the outsides, thus eliminating the need for buses to weave through the cars to leave or enter their dedicated lane. :) (Now, we can't simulate bus lanes, but... ;) )

If there were a MIS sized no-buses filter (for lateral ramps), we could do that, combining with the existent only-buses filters for RHW-2 (for central ramps)

MGB nailed it, but I think he forgot to mention that a symmetrical RHW-6C to dual RHW-6S transition exists. I can't remember if you get it by rotating the asymmetrical transition, or if it's just further down the tab-ring (or if it's stuck somewhere like cosmetic transitions), but it does exist, and I've used it multiple times before for river crossings (dual RHW-6S bridges), and other things.

Good point. I didn't mention it because simply with my design it's superfluous, unless you decide to switch back to 6S after the junction.

"Width Transitions" is the one you are looking for :). It's a separate option to the regular one, next item in the Tab Ring.

@rsc204 I only mentioned it because he wanted to transition back to RHW-4 it seemed, after the offramp.
