Pretty simple but still interesting: adding a diamond interchange to an industrial area.

    Click pics for full size.

For those wondering, the rail station got moved to a new location north of the curve.

The next project may be to widen this section to 8 lanes (providing one auxiliary lane running from onramp to offramp).

Another impressive post! :) Being somewhat on the rail side myself, however, I cannot help mentioning that I don't approve of the at-grade rail crossings on a busy avenue right next to an even busier highway exit/onramp. ;) However, getting a rail viaduct into this cramped space (especially with the road crossing under the elevated highway a bit further down and with the other track from S/E joining the one parallel to the highway) is going to be quite a challenge... tricky!

Ya I was thinking the same thing about the rail line. The connections are too close for a viaduct, and the highway / ramps are too close to the rail line for FULPs / overpasses.

What I decided to do instead is add another road to the south of the interchange to provide an additional crossing point.

This rail line is a spur anyway and ends at an airport cargo terminal a few tiles above where the mosaic starts. Thus the frequency of trains is low. The dual line at the bottom of the mosaic is entirely grade-separated.

I would have done a DDI for higher flow rates at that diamond interchange, but overall looks fantastic.

First post on this forum! I'm pretty proud of this 3-way interchange. It's quite compact and prioritizes regional traffic (going east to southwest). West of this, I'm planning to build a city. I don't really know what size though.

Update: I upgraded the interchange slightly:

Maxis Highway Interchange, Highway to Avenue transition, and a Rail "interchange" with a great little curve switch rail running from the angled rail to the straight on the acute angle(less than 90 degree angle)  as I was building that switch I wasn't sure I could get a smooth curve but the NAM rules.

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

I love the trees and overall decorations. If I were you I'd try to move that road-avenue intersection one tile up, and you might fit in a smooth road curve before the stoplights.

I just created this T intersection. It connects two rural four-lane highways. Simple, but effective :-)

Looking good @JohnAJ! I really like the flora you have used in the L0 back ramp!

I would have liked to make that a smoother curve(though it is fairly smooth as is, it's not a 90 degree after all) but the intersection was a part of the elevated avenue on slope piece and the location of the stoplight is also due to the fact that it is 7.5 meters up from the rail line it overpasses and then needs to slope down to pass under the Bullet train rail, the road also slopes down and away from the intersection. To place a road tile at the corner of the intersection to produce the wrc would have flattened the smooth slope of the avenue to highways transition as well as making a steep slope for the road. I only use the BTM Slope Mod that Haljackey uploaded and the RHW slope mod I found somewhere on a SC4D NAM thread. This way the only pieces that have a slope mod associated with them are the BTM and 2lane RHW so I can get the roads up some steeper slopes that are smooth as terraformed but not so severe to create valleys.  Thanks for the comments.

@philforhockey51 I thought your image turned out great , the slope mods are the same I use . You have a lot going on in that pic , that's what I like about it . And yes , NAM does Rock in deed .

What's the idea behind teasing us if you've already completed it?

It's actually not done at all. There's still a huge chunk of it missing that I'm still building :P. Poor word choice by me.

Just a little teaser of an old NAM 32 interchange I rebuilt.

    <pic>

Gamma came out kinda weird, but I'm guessing that most likely f.lux messing with me again....

Hehehe, that blue car slowing down all the traffic... Glorious. :)

This is what I would adjust for that interchange, this would be using a slope mod as well as smooth corners throughout. I have only installed NAM so far and havent replaced all my other plugins. This is how I would approach it though, nice eye candy and trees.

Thanks for taking the time to give suggestions. I'll walk you through why I did some of the things I did, and also what improvements I'm going to make based from your image.

    1. There is a slope mod. The transition from the roundabout to the elevated road is using the RHW slope mod, so is silky smooth. The reason the roundabout is not evaluated, is because I would ten not be able to fire the smooth slope down into the city.
    2. I'm going to redesign the back-left ramp to match your type of design. My one has too many corners.
    3. Every corner has smooth curves. I don't use Orthogonal-FAR-Diagonal for my curves, I stick to the smooth curves, I guess because of the way they look.

Thanks again for the suggestion, and a Happy New Year!

Here's the five-way interchange I entered into the NAM challenge.  I-20 runs from left to right; I-120 goes diagonally to the bottom-right of the image, I-220 heads south (towards the bottom of the picture) from the interchange, and SR-220 heads north from the interchange (it turns into a divided highway with at-grade intersections).

@Compdude787 WOW ! That's one tremendous Interchange , I bet your Simcitizens shelled out a lot of simoleons for that one . It looks great .

Real basic rural interchange with realistic (at least where I'm from) offset of ramps and slip lanes/lead ramps. Stock textures and trees still, I want to find a good Midwestern set,
