This is the Interstate 5-Loop 303 Interchange in Radiation, which is locally known as the Bottleneck Interchange for the massive amounts of traffic caused by Loop 303 commuters heading North onto and merging with oncoming traffic from Interstate 5.

In real life, this interchange would be an actual bottleneck but not only is this located near the edge of the city tile, SC4 mechanics also makes residents commuting through multiple city tiles difficult and unlikely, so this receives almost no traffic in-game.

definitely the second one. In the other I can already see cars speeding and getting rocketed outside that sudden curve.

I decided to go with the second choice. Sucks that I can't make a dedicated left ext lane but on well a merge works ok too.

This was part of a project to add more collector lanes between interchanges. Similar to my last project,  with enough right of way to fit it but needed a bridge extension. Pics here.

The Sparkle Turnpike is now Highway 408, and is no longer a toll road. Here is probably the most advanced interchange i've come up with, Exits 0 and 1 on Highway 408. 57a1338e2360d_Exit0and1.thumb.jpg.a5f812The turnpike is being moved to serve the central portion of the country and is being renamed the Centralia Turnpike, after Centralia, Pennsylvania.

@TheLynx99 Is there a reason that all your pictures post twice? It's kinda odd.

Also, there is some serious weaving going on towards the top left of the interchange. I would either spaghetti it (exit first, then on-ramp with appropriate fly-over/under) or leave a significantly longer merge space and use a C/D type exit (lane reduction) and make the earthen ramp steeper.

Then I would smooth out the offramp for the highway heading north so that there were no 90 degree turns. Use of some of the new FLEXFly (45-deg) would also not be remiss in smoothing out those MIS fly-overs and reducing the size of the interchange.

EDIT: I had posted these last night, but I think I forgot to click save... A smoother rendition, with longer weaving and smoother turns.

@APSMS The pictures post twice automatically. I don't know how to solve that. Also, thanks for the advice! That city tile got corrupted by lazy sims and I'm gonna half to redo it.

Some nice looking interchanges here but I rarely do one these days, they take up so much land.

@Sarsey Looking good. I see you've used the cosmetic pieces, but how about some signs, :) There are loads of packs on the STEX, and I think it could just add that bit extra to that already great interchange. :D

@Sarsey I would've used a few smoother curves and some earthen ramps, but having recently used RHW to build that interchange above, I realize how difficult it is to do that.

Overall it's very nice, my only concern would be the one through-lane heading south on the N-S freeway (there's a freeway near where I live that does this, and even though it's a low usage section, it always slows the freeway down from 65-70 to about 35 mph just to head through that one section, even when almost nobody is on the road.

But generally speaking, it's a very nice interchange.

Nice.  I use RHW2 a lot, I really enjoy upgrading live and making detours for construction.

This is a quite compact interchange serving as one of the entrances to a city. I think it looks pretty good. Trees and development are a WIP.

I dont use alot of eye candy, but this is one of my usual offramps for RHW2.

I tried to make it full access, but I'm having trouble deciding which way to go. I've built three alternatives (full high-res album):

    rGpE1Xa.png

    10UMjxQ.png

    EXIZArr.png

    (1) uses a street intersection as a u-turn - simple. (2) uses compact MIS curves. (3) also uses MIS, but with smoother FAR curves. Which one do you all prefer?

I think the third one looks the best; very smooth curves and looks like traffic would flow nicely in it.

The first one is my favorite from an aesthetic point of view, but I'm afraid it could kill traffic flow very efficiently, so in that respect I'd take the third.
