  1. Is anyone familiar with this SimCity 4 Tools program or more specifically why I get this error when trying to save a Texture: If not, is there an easy way to convert a bmp/jpg/etc file into an overlay/base texture?
  2. Show us What you're Working On

Tried a challenge; make a building from scratch in a few hours. It took about 4 days...
  3. Yeah the foundation/curb thing was something I was working on in case the light cone prop wasn't an option. If anyone is aware of any advanced guide to lighting please let me know there's still a lot of ideas I have/want to experiment with thanks.
  4. Yes I found some using the prop/texture catalogue, this is what I was trying to create, basically just the spot target with a particular hue/elevation: Rendering the light as a prop is the issue, they only seem to show up when they are created with the building or on another prop, a free form spot like these ones are what Im trying to make. Anyone know if this is possible with gmax?
  5. How do we get a free light source to show up as a prop? Im trying to create the impression of the light of a diner to emit outside of the restaurant on the ground as it would but any prop light I create will not show up unless there is a surface. Ive seen a few props able to do this, like here:
  6. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Was there a mod to allow custom industrial lots to actually build in game? I may have asked this at one point but I dont remember what it was about them, along with a ton of other vanilla industrial lots that never seem to appear

I hate lighting and REALLY hate interiors but the end result dampens the ordeal
  8. Show us What you're Working On

Tinkering with this one, does this glow from the neon look accurate, or too bright/dark, too thin/narrow?
  9. Show us What you're Working On

Currently working on this: But there's one thing I'm not sure of; what is enclosed in the small fenced area behind the restaurant... propane tanks to fire up the grills? I have no idea and I can't get a rear shot of this place, if anyone knows what could be there please tell me so I have some idea what to add to this other than just this fencing, thanks.
  10. South Central Wisconsin Part 13

Princeton seems like a really cozy little place, I love that stream running behind the street there, really awful of Google to NOT run the street view car down there. Also the Princeton Sewer Department building seems like a neat little building I think I might work on soon. Nice work with this one

Working on this ye olde factory and endlessly fussing over texturing...
  12. Show us What you're Working On

Working on this pink Victorian house on the left (+2000 if you recognize it) and I realize while the HD plugin is great, the standard definition makes it look more in place with the native game resolution

I have to be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of having a building of mine basically be relotted and uploaded like this, in particular when I was never asked or given any heads up about it. If you want to modify the lot like that in your own game by all means, but reuploading it like this here, it's not the same as using props from a prop set as your dependencies imo. This has happened to other folks here before and they have been rather upset by it, I can see why now. I understand you probably aren't aware of this, just want you to understand how it looks from my perspective. Thanks.
  14. BAT Request Thread

Something I *might* look at creating myself, but if anyone else wants to tackle this one; Teufelsberg in Berlin. A former Cold War listening post, now abandoned and sort of a mural museum: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teufelsberg
  15. Does anyone know if there is something to update the parameters of a spline that has been edited so that it reads the measurements accurately? Example; I make a door then clone it to make the surrounding frame and use edit spline to widen it, it will still reads the width and length of the frame the same as the door even though I manually widened it. I know I can just snap a new rectangle over the frame so it has the correct measurements but I'm just curious if that feature exists.

I can vouch for those residential lots by jmyers, they give R$ houses some dignity they badly needed, and are very copacetic with the in game style.
  17. Ok, trying to get back to this, I saw the manual but there's more than 60 pages, if I'm only trying to make a single overlay texture would it require reading all of it? I've managed to make the FSH file but when I bring up the FSHxDAT menu I'm not sure how to load it in, when I press the 'Create dat from Loadlist' it doesn't want to load a FSH file, did I miss a step?

Releasing an SD version is a really neat idea since some HD models while looking amazing, sort of have a conflicting style when you see one next to an SD model. And I've never seen anyone add so many cool little small details to a model as this one has, it's a beauty
  19. Seems like it has a lot of neat features to make base/overlay textures, fortunately I have the texture ready, how would I load this into whatever it needs to be to get it into game?
  20. So I need to make some base and overlay textures, can it be done with the plug in manager somehow? Making the texture should not be difficult, I just need to know how to get it into the game...

One of a few similar duplex style lots in the Playter Estates neighborhood of Toronto, a cozy (and expensive) little suburb with many antique Victorian style houses. A simple little 1x2 R$$ lot (with a R$$$ rental price) for a more densely populated older suburb. This one didn't appear very frequently when I tried letting it appear naturally in game so it might be best to use the building plop option if you really want it to show up.

Found some neat little Victorian style duplexes in Toronto. Almost ready...

This is a very rough draft but if anyone has been in any outer Vancouver neighborhood you may recognize this one
