  1. Dealing with 'weedy' lots

I´ve had this exact problem with stage 6 lots outdeveloping stage 5's. Almost always, when I zone low density, the game will stop developing at stage 4 and I have to zone medium density to start getting stage 5's and higher, this also means that those stage 5 buildings get overtaken pretty quickly with bigger stage 6's, the game seems to prefer these for medium density zones. This is the way the game was designed, so the best course of action is manage your plugins with tricks like blockers or even tilesets. This solution is definitely a good one if you want to stop a particular set from developing (like those brownstones). One solution I use is to edit the tilesets of certain building sets, so in this case, you can set the Halifax houses to grow only in the Chicago tileset and the brownstones to grow only in the New York tileset. There is no going around the tedious part of making everything historical, though, bc when you switch to New York, the brownstones may take over, same thing when you remove the blocker file. You could also alter the growth stages, I would bet the Halifax houses are a lower one compared to the brownstones, if you match the growth stages in both sets' lot files, the Halifax houses cannot be overtaken by the brownstones, but both could be then replaced by buildings that are higher stage than them. To make these changes you could use the Reader, PIM-X (my preferred choice, personally), or SC4Tool, it's just a matter of ticking a few boxes! though it may get tedious
  2. Show us Your Interchanges!

I just blew 100,000 simoleons, half this city's budget, experimenting with an urban interchange for an expressway... I ended up with a common cloverleaf.
  3. The Milestone Thread

I just noticed that I've moved upwards from Dog Catcher to Citizen!! I am finally a citizen of Simtropolis!
  4. Oh, yes, this happened to me once when my antivirus decided to minimize SC4 and the thumbnail didn't save properly. I'm using a custom resolution of 1366x768x32 with hardware rendering, but I don't think that is the issue, I was also playing another city tile and the thumbnail was ok, plus, I've been using that resolution since I installed the game in this computer. I don't think that would be possible, I would have to upload it without any of the city tiles, since I use A LOT of custom content and you would need to have my Plugins folder to run any of them. But you've given me an idea, maybe if I move the city tile to another region the thumbnail will update. I could also try @Cyclone Boom's method but the save file has the correct thumbnail when I open it on Reader v.093
  5. Already tried all that, to no avail, so it's not an issue of zoom level or seasonal changes. I think that is definitely correct, but is hard to find why it's happening, I'm not currently using a terrain mod and haven't made terrain changes in this particular region. I used the SC4 savegame reader to check the stored PNG and as you can see, it's not blurry at all (click to see it in full resolution), it looks as it should, so it could be an issue with the game itself maybe?
  6. Can't find it?... Ask here!

You know how whenever you get a notification that Cori replied to your post you expect something super useful/groundbreaking? Well this was not the case Thank you! I thought I had searched all of Haarlemergold's buildings for ones that might fit my cities' aesthetic, I was wrong
  7. I had noticed the terrain changes before, didn't know Maxis terrain could be seasonal too! But I was actually referring to the way the tile to the south looks blurry compared to the others
  8. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Hello! Anybody know where I can find this house?
  9. Show us What you're Working On

I have! I actually use them and have slightly modded them to my liking. I only wish Romualdillo had made some more because these are fanstastic
  10. Show us What you're Working On

After I don't know how many years, I have finally downloaded and modded enough buildings to make a latin american historic neigbourhood!
  11. I love this mod and have been using it since Cori brought it up in an attachment! I really hated when R$$$ sims took over entire neighborhoods only to then leave because they had overdeveloped and couldn't find enough jobs, they also lowered my overall population when they replaced some six R$$ houses to build a huge McMansion. And it was the same with commercial areas, I always ended up with infinite rows of CS$$$ and CO$$$ with the same building repeating over and over again. But that's all in the past!! Also, my dense urban centres with wall to wall apartment buildings are so much more easy to develop since I installed the NKO! Personally, I see the NKO as the city passing comprehensive anti-gentrification legislation, where any redevelopment of occupied areas that entails displacement of residents or destruction of a historic building always has to be subject to mayoral approval, while densification can be seen as the previous occupants getting a new apartment in the new buildings. Not entirely unrealistic, even if there's probably no city in the world with those kinds of laws. You can still be all Robert Moses and bulldoze entire neighborhoods if you want, but the choice is up to you. Anyhoo, it's a must have, IMHO
  12. BCH0899's L.A. BAT Thread

All of the houses look amazing! Excellent work. One question, when you mod and lot them, are you using the Plugin Manager X or the regular Plugin Manager and lot Editor? I ask because PIM-X is much more handy, lets you work quicker and gives the buildings balanced stats easily, sometimes the ole' Maxis PIM gives weird stats to buildings and they could not work as intended.
  13. L.A. R$$ House Pack 1

Indeed, and it is definetely realistic, so I wouldn't call it a "flaw" or anything like that. If the roof paint reflects sunlight, then logically it should appear brighter. I think the issue with color is more of a question of blending in with the game's palette, in which the whites seem to be duller. Ultimately, this is a question of taste and perception; people who build cities set in hot climates would probably have no problem with brighter colors (they may actually look for them). If you allow me a suggestion, you could open a BAT thread to recieve even more feedback, not only from us but from the guys who have tons of experience BATting.
  14. L.A. R$$ House Pack 1

Came here to comment about this too, but don't worry, you are definitely going places with your BATs, From what I've seen, many creators have had trouble harmonizing white roofs with the rest of the game's color palette. But it's only one detail, the models and even the lots are really well done. Hope to see more of your work and I'll definitely use these houses.
  15. Wow!
  16. Show us What you're Working On

Nice!! Does that mean we're finally getting some neocolonial/californian style houses for SC4? Those were actually pretty popular in some parts of Mexico City in both middle and upper class neighborhoods Chido! I love the design of the top of the building. It does recall the ancient mayan ceremonial centers. As with many of your buildings, it will surely find a place in my skyline
  17. 1445 W 10th Ave

Great!! Insant download, we need more buildings of this type in the game. Hope to see more uploads in the future
  18. Show us What you're Working On

Some Downtown gridbusting and detailing! @Diego Del Llano's Torre Reforma and Torre Colpatria really stand out next to diagonal networks, and they could not have been more perfect for this spot The neighbourhood right next to these big towers, with more diagonals And lastly, opposite the towers are some art deco government offices, courtesy of mattb325
  19. Brazil

I´m always fascinated by your recreations, and this quantity of images is just amazing. I´ve spent like half an hour looking at this entry! Outstanding work, as always
  20. Show us What you're Working On

Hey! Thank you! Ironically, this quarantine period has been busy with home office work but it's always good to unwind in ST and SC4
  21. ¡¡Wow!!
@Diego Del Llano ESTOY SOÑANDO Y NO QUIERO DESPERTAR!!!
  24. Can't find it?... Ask here!

: Hi! Does anybody know where to find these mansions? (The one on the top left, the one on the top right and the two ones on the bottom right)
