Someone didn't read the README. With tree controllers you HAVE to read the documentation if you it work, or even understand which option you're installing in the case of vortext's which has multiple options. If you're complaining about how it looks, well, you chose that one out of his several possible options. somene didnt read my other post. did you read my post? did what i said work?

The ARDEN tree controller comes with three controllers, Coast, River and Inland (as well as evergreen but that works with any of the three). Where were you trying to plant the trees? It sounds like you were using either the coast or river controller at an elevation that the trees do not grow. Try switch around the controller and see what happens, then report back here. Also are you using a terrain mod? If you are not using the LK Appalachian or any of Gobias' terrains, make sure you get the Seasonal Flora Patch What makes you say this? I haven't had to do that

I reccomend the ARDEN controller linked above, a lot of dependencies but it's really worth having those brilliant trees in your game. If for some reason you don't want to use ARDEN, try out the controller, which I am using now. I don't like it as much as ARDEN, but it produces some stunning results, and there is a bit more variation in flora which can create some interesting forests

Purchasing the game in New Zealand
dlsni replied to Sporefreak67's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The base game is $70 on mighty ape right now. It's still a little out of what you wanted but since it's still a fairly recent game, I think you'll be a bit harder pressed to find it cheaper, locally anyway. I was in JB Hi Fi the other day and they were selling the new expansion for like $50, so you might just need to keep an eye out for any big sales -

same, I'm usually doing whatever I feel like at the time. Usually when I'm planning on building a city I just throw done a few Roads and houses and deal with it as it goes on. I don't really plan these roads either, just sort of put corners at hills or w/ever. I deal with what I give myself I've only ever built one small stretch of highway in this game, a RHW, but I've got absolutely no idea how highways work in real life tbh, and looking at the "Show us your Interchanges" thread baffles me because why would you need that amount of complex ramps and whatnot.

Update 1 - Questionable power, Moore Nuclear Facility
dlsni commented on timmetje's City Journal Entry in New Covington (SC4)
Stunning! Where did you get the blue building and the long warehouses seen in the fourth picture? -
Where did you get the campervan sitting between the picnic tables and ranger tower? I've been looking for that for so long!

upload the pictures to a site like imgur or minus, then embed the images to your posts by clicking the little tree icon in the toolbar

Vistit #3: downtown plans...
dlsni commented on Moerp's City Journal Entry in (SC4) A random journal
Like you, I have little experience w/ downtowns, but based on how you have your network laid out, I would change the two blocks on the top left of this area to commercial, as those areas will likely have a higher traffic flow? (Assuming you have a lot of commuters to/from the adjacent tile) -
You have made modding so frustrating!
dlsni replied to Sisko87's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
But what I don't understand is that this seems to be one of the only game communities that has a problem with this. Why do I care if I make a chair prop, someone includes it in their lot and they get all the praise for having a cool lot with a sick chair prop? I mean cool I'd like a nice credit in the readme but jesus christ its not like I care that they're stealing my precious downloads and five star ratings. A lot of the time the community around this game just seems quite childish, I've come across many old discussions where certain modders will just straight up refuse to work with other modders or resolve conflicts. People legitimately throw tantrums if someone criticizes their work or their methods even if it is constructive and makes the mod more accessible to users. The amount of times a thread pops up where a new user is discouraged from customising their game because of the dependencies and then the dependencies with dependencies is ridiculous, and even though mods have kept this game alive so long, some of the methods used are detrimental as well. Like it's cool that Catty up there is compiling a dependency list, but like it's not cool that that has to happen, because of how things get lost, links change (try downloading a 2005-era dependency-laden mod from the STEX LOL)and then things get bundled into a mega pack which you might already have but you can't remember because they have all kinds of things with silly names. And generally the responses to these discouraged people are good, helpful, but it's "sort through these links and then get this random one off prop from a foreign site and then read the readme and run a cleanitol" (by the way, wtf is a cleanitol and how does it work), which no one wants to do and it's dumb that people have to do that. Why can't you just take that single japanese fishing boat and put it in your mod? Why is this a "bad" thing to do? I'm not very articulate when making posts like this but damn I've never ever seen a gaming community that is so hard to navigate around than simcity4, though I guess that comes from playing such an old game. -
I especially like that first mosaic, just remember to turn off your HUD before taking screenshots (Num Lock) as I can still see some parts of it in the mosaic, as well as turning the grid off (G). Also, for easier viewing, it may be worth uploading your images on a hosting site (like imgur or minus) and embedding them to the post from there. I can't wait to see more!

How to...#1 Developing suburbs
dlsni commented on Moerp's City Journal Entry in (SC4) A random journal
i really like the mixing of Ag, Res and Com there, right between the highways. it's just pleasing to look at. I really do love curvy, treed suburbs as well, one of my favourite ways to build. another great entry -

I have a large city tile that currently has around 67,000 residents. There is a large body of water in the tile that seperates the city, and on the smaller landmass I'd think it'd be a good place to grow farms since it is not technically part of the city, nor is there any pollution etc. But I have heard the I-AG demand dissipates completely at around 16,000 residential population, and my RCI graph reflects this. I was just wondering if there was a way I could get the farms to grow on the smaller part of the city tile?

the "solid green" is how the columbus mod is meant to look, I believe. If you're unhappy with that, I'd suggest LK Appalachian Terrain Mod Gobias Sudden Valley I'm currently using the Sudden Valley terrain, which gives a nice, cold-ish rural type feel imo. I've also used Appalachian and I loved that, that one is also very highly regarded among users here. Gobias also makes some beach mods which may be worth checking out as well
