Chile is a long, narrow country that stretches nearly 3,000 miles from north to south. This prosperous country is well known for its natural beauty and man-made wonders - it's home to some of the world's most unique and unforgettable sights. From vast deserts, towering mountain ranges, imposing volcanoes, modern cities, ancient wonders, and much more - there's plenty to check out, so let's take a look.

We'll begin our tour in the Chilean capital of Santiago - home to nearly 6 million people, it's a city that boasts an impressive blend of new and old architecture. The 984 foot tall Gran Torre Santiago was completed in 2013, becoming the continent's tallest skyscraper and one of the country's most famous landmarks.

After a brief stay in Santiago, we head north until we arrive in the bone-dry Atacama Desert. Chile is by far the world's largest copper producer and this region is home to a number of massive mines like Chuquicamata - the biggest open pit copper mine in the world.

The Atacama Desert is well known for being one of the world's driest regions - but even in this vast, barren landscape - there's beauty to be found. The impressive rock formations, dunes, and steep walls of the Valle de la Luna are one of the country's most unique destinations.

For our next destination, we're traveling some 2,500 miles westward to the Chilean territory of Easter Island. Famous for its nearly 1,000 mysterious Moai statues, no one knows for certain how they got there - but they've kept visitors in awe ever since.

We return to the mainland - and our next sight is located in the southern portion of the country. The peaks of Torres del Paine are one of the region's most iconic natural wonders - and they're even more beautiful during a Chilean sunset.

We travel further north, moving into the country's scenic Lake District and having a stop at the quaint village of Castro. Stilt houses (called Palafito) like these can be seen dotting the city's waterfront, making for a fascinating and colorful sight.

Our tour of Chile concludes with a look over the country's beautiful Lake District and Villarrica Volcano - truly a sight to behold.

Wonderful as usual ! I wish we could really do stone quarries like that in SC4... (no, don"t tell me you did it by hand ??? I'll die.) And the water in the last picture before last is to die for, sigh. The Torre del Paine is starkly beautiful, my preferred pict, I think. When reading a picture would be of the Atacama desert, I thought you'd made the once-a-year flowering Atacama desert, but that would have been too much, I suppose ! :-)

I love how you make your streets look so busy, and the way you sculpt the landscape is outstanding.  Bravo!  :bunny:

Loved quarry as well. ( Btw happily reporting that I work on a game project involving city building elements and you will make initial region/city designs :D because duty calls :P )

Hey, that dirty crossing where I take the metro back home every working day! You did an impressive work at recreating it, specially given the utter lack of appropriate models for this kind of countries (mid rise modern 45° corner buildings? forget it!), and the odd angles and curves on the real place:

Maybe the only nitpickeable detail would be that the sunken thing is not a rail line, but a canal, with the metro passing just below it (lots of filtrations, of course :P )

Anyway, simply great as always with your impecable work, the natural scapes are just perfect, and your usage of very limited models to create complete scenes that don't look repetitive never ceases to amaze me.

@matias93 Thank you for the comment, glad you enjoyed the update - appreciate the feedback on the Gran Torre Santiago scene too. There wasn't a whole lot to work with, but good call on the canals - I'll see if I can find/make some that will suit the scene *:)

I was in Santiago de Chile 3 years ago, and it was an amazing 2 weeks. We actually stayed in a little vilage called Batuko, but went into the city quite a few times. That place is developping rapidly and really nicely. We went to shopping into the Jumbo (which is a huge 5 (?) level shopping mall next to the Gran Torre). I enjoyed my time there and definitely want to go back one day and visit it again. And of course the rest of the pictures are amazing too. You should give it a try to recreate the world largest outdoor pool ;), which is in Chile next to the Pacific Ocean alongside with a huge residental/resort block.

@Tyberius06 Thank you for the nice comment! Hopefully I'll be able to visit Santiago myself eventually, that sounds like a pretty amazing trip *:) Somehow, I managed to miss that epic pool when I was studying up on the country - but I'll probably do a separate Santiago update at some point with a few more landmarks from in and around the city, so the pool could be a cool scene to sneak into the update *;)
