This is crazy, absurd, but good absurd. At this pace, users cannot find limitations fast enough to ask for solutions, the new functionalities end clogging! The REW barely existed a couple of months ago and now this! It's inhuman!

Yo, guys --

I'm fooling around with the idea of trying an amusement park.    So I immediately thought of the old custom lot for "The Cyclone".  I could already picture how good that roller coaster was gonna' look.

Then I read the fine print -- NO LIGHTS !!!!

ANYBODY have any genius ideas on how to get night lighting onto this lot ??

(NO LIGHTS -- you might as well have sex without the "afters" cigarette!) :8)

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

I thought it would be fun to revisit the first post of this thread.

I'm very surprised a thread like this hasn't been made yet. I know SC4D has had one for the longest time... but nothing here at ST.

Anyways the guidelines are very simple. Post pics of stuff you're working on. Other memebers can provide pointers and whatnot if you're asking for help/opinions. Otherwise you're just posting content that is in the works/not quite finished.

For example, this is what I was working on today. Click images for full size.

    t4t6k.jpg

    Mlkaj.jpg

Still a lot of tinkering to do... Maybe I'll insert some rail curves as well.

Anyways you get the premise. Now show us what you're working on!

This is what the areas look like today.

    Prop pox. BOO!

At least this area looks better:

Bored at work and came across this beast while searching some custom trains to model in the future.

What do you guys think? Should I...?

By the way. In order to appreciate the size of it, look at the second pic.

I'm familiar with the style -- but it usually involves some sort of large German railway cannon.

@Dreadnought Uhh not this one. Its the CEBX 800, solely created to transport colossal loads such as heavy industry components and machinery.

I know, guy .  I'm a bit of a RR buff, myself.  But don't forget about the overhead clearance on the RR bridges themselves -- not to mention tunnel entrances.

@Dreadnought It would not be made into automata. Just a stationary prop at a rail yard lot or some other custom lot I have in mind.

Yepp, @Simmer2, that big bro would be nice addition, and among @Fantozzi's pictures there are a few very interesting rail wagon, which could be useful. My personal favarourites are these:

For the new SeaPort lots I'm using Simmer2 brand new railcar modells (mostly the timed props) anyway, well if @Angry Mozart could release his stuff soon (in 1-2 months), probably I would use those props as well.

    @Simmer2

    Yo, guy --

I like your CEBX 800 idea -- and that would look great in a small vignette -- perhaps a small rail siding lot with cranes and an unloading scene that could be designed to tie into a large factory .  Your masterful handling of the roundhouse set says you have the skills to pull that off.

And several of the tank car suggestions look very interesting, indeed.

But -- wait for it --

I would like to put forth a possible project that would undoubtedly allow your skills and energy to be utilized.  I would have done this long ago, but my one attempt at "batting" was a laughable failure and nearly drove me round the bend.

How about a "coaling dock" ?

    M4tlRUI.jpg

If you need inspiration, there are tons and tons of pictures on Google that show some of the most elaborate track and trestle arrangements you could imagine.  I'm sure it would challenge your planning and ingenuity skills.  And there is a crying need for realistic coaling facilities that (1) load for truck distribution at the end of the "pipeline", so to speak -- (2) load those vast coal trains from the mines, and (3) a large facility for loading bulk cargo vessels.  Here we have an entire "product flow-through system" that has remained virtually untouched for the long life of this game.  I have made several feeble attempts at small aspects of coal as an industry, but I don't have the skills to construct proper "bats", and must resort to improvisational re-lots that just don't turn out that well.

Perhaps, in "the wee dark hours of the night -- when the ghosties lurk about" -- you could put some thought to bending your railroad skills to coal.

    Just a thought --

    @Dreadnought Yo dude.

I started making  some coal industry related models a while back but got sidetracked with other unfinished projects. I will definitively come up with something in the future.

@Simmer2 That CEBX car is called a "Schnable" car.

Also I'd love to see an Ore Dock, but I'm not sure if its really an accessible option for most SC4 players, given you'd need some NAM knowledge to connect it to the rest of the world.

Looking really good! Your BATting skills have come a long way - it looks real nice. *:thumb:

If I can nitpick a bit about one tiny thing, it looks like the cranes don't have tight-ish LODs, making lower parts overlap over the containers on the rail cars (seen in the image I left in the quote). You can technically fix that by making the LOD shape not a straight box that somewhat conforms to the general shape of the model (just have to be sure it's still completely inside the LOD though).
